It feels like an intentional turning away from the formality of the royal names. Whatever. I don’t dislike them but I’m honestly a little bored/burned out by the back and forth pettiness. I need to ignore the royals for a while or Charlotte needs to do something extra saucy and bring me back in.

    Book about Lucille Ball

Yuck. Reading about what her life was like at 14 was pretty sad. This quote stuck out to me. — She eventually found work as a model, and as she sought acting roles, received advice from Lela Rogers — mother of her good friend Ginger Rogers — that she would later follow. “If you want to be a star within two years, get auditioned on the casting couch,” Lela told her. “That’s the advice I gave my own daughter.” Becoming one of Manhattan’s most popular models,

Edited because I felt bad criticizing him while he’s clearly in the middle of some mental health work. But, yeah.

CNN is hedging but MTV says it's cutting and eating disorders. Hope she gets better, but now I think we know which BI was hers.

I feel like she’s been sort of hinting this way for a while, so I’m not terribly surprised. That being said, this girl feels like a walking red flag. I’ve long been worried about her long term outcome. Maybe this is what she has needed to do for some time and it will help her find some peace? One can only hope because she seems very troubled. As much as Hollywood is a gawking event, there are real people there and occasionally I just get the feeling that a few people are heading towards a metaphorical car crash. I don’t like to see myself proven right.

I do kind of think the old “son” looks quite a bit like Prince Phillip, but so do a lot of old white guys. I can’t get past the term “falling pregnant” though. I’ve seen it before and it’s always seemed so weird to me.

Yeah, I don’t think anyone thought that was organic. But none the less, it’s been on every news and talk show in DC. They were still excited to get a shout out for Gogo!

Sorry about that. Hope you will be back to normal soon. Although my husband and I had no serious side effects (I had fatigue after dose 2) both of my kid had some nasty side effects after the second dose. Good news is they didn’t last long, maybe 6 hours or so and they both woke up the next day good as new. Hope you bounce back soon.

    Coronavirus

Add me to the list. I actually went to the doctor last month because everything has been so out of whack. I looked at my dates and I can’t blame any of it on my shot. I also now have a fibroid but it’s very small and the symptoms are minor enough that I’m trying to wait it out and hope I go into full menopause before it gets bad enough to treat. I suspect I’m relatively far along in the peri phase, but haven’t had any hot flashes. All of the other symptoms check out though! My mom was 52 when she was officially in menopause so I have a little way to go based on that, but of course that’s just an imaginary deadline for me.

Daughter and I were bored earlier in the week, so we went to the British embassy to see if they had any big to do about Phillip. I can’t seem to upload the photo here, file size is too big. When Diana died it was a massive event there. Yesterday there was a tent set up, like you’d have at a soccer game, with a sign announcing the death and two small tables with flowers. No condolence book, just an online version. Very low key. On the plus side we got to wave to the VP as the embassy is right next door to the Naval Observatory and we happened to be there when the motorcade came through. We fan girled.

How was that process at Six Flags? I just saw it on the news the first few days it was open when it was apparently a cluster fu@$ and was causing huge traffic delays and backups. Did it get smoothed out? Glad you are all done and with minimal side effects!

Harry has arrived in the UK. William released a statement. Feels like it could definitely be read as a dig at Harry if you want it to be. and yes, I KNOW it’s like the ultimate in privileged family, but I can’t get over how charming the image of Phillip pulling up in a literal carriage to take George out for adventures is. https://www.instagram.com/p/CNkRn-xliiv/?utm_source=ig_embed&ig_mid=E4CA8F35-0E1D-4AF5-BEEC-773E47314C43

unsurprising news from People... Meghan Markle Will Not Be at Prince Philip's Funeral, Prince Harry 'Planning to Attend' By Simon Perry and Maria Pasquini April 10, 2021 12:00 PM Prince Harry will be at the funeral of his grandfather Prince Philip next Saturday, although Meghan Markle will not, Buckingham Palace has confirmed. "The Duke of Sussex is planning to attend. The Duchess of Sussex has been advised by her physician not to travel. So the duke will be attending," a royal spokesman said at a briefing on Saturday afternoon. Meghan, 39, is expecting the couple's second child, a baby girl, later this spring. Harry, 36, is preparing to head back to the U.K. in the coming days and it will be the first time he has been in the country in over a year. It is also the first time he will have seen members of the Royal Family since his and Meghan's interview with Oprah Winfrey aired last month. Listen below to the episode of our daily podcast PEOPLE Every Day where we are looking back at Prince Philip's life and legacy. With the guest list limited to 30 people under U.K. government guidelines due to COVID, it is expected that Philip's immediate family, including his children and grandchildren, will make up the bulk of those present in St. George's Chapel. Attendants, such as the military bearer party of his coffin and the Dean of Windsor David Conner and the Archbishop of Canterbury Justin Welby are permitted to be extra to that 30 figure. While there has been a steady stream of visitors, from Prince Edward and his wife Sophie, Countess of Wessex to Prince Charles, palace officials will not confirm whether any of them are in Her Majesty's so-called "bubble" and be allowed within close proximity of her. The full guest list will be confirmed later in the week. Then, it will be announced who will be making any eulogy during the service.

I just read through some of this and... I’m a little astonished as an American. I guess you can’t compare someone who “holds office” for 70 years to a president who might last 4, but I am realizing that I just have no frame of reference for the level of protocol. Is it the same for any very senior royal, like if it were Charles or William? Or is this because of the fact that this one individual is the only one in that position most living citizens of the country have ever known in their life times? As much as I thought I understood royalty, I realize not growing up in it is different. We didn’t have social media when Diana died. I know there was a lot, but was the level of intergovernmental coordination this detailed?

I have to admit I’m a little disappointed about the funeral. If there’s one thing the British royal family does well it’s pageantry. And boy have we had a year and a half of no pageantry! Although realistically I know they probably couldn’t have done much, it’s one of the things that I will miss from Covid. I’m assuming Harry will be there immediately and that they will use the pregnancy as an excuse not to bring Meghan home so as to avoid the controversy at this time. And honestly I think if Harry doesn’t show up, unless she is actively pushing out that baby, that will really be a bridge too far on him for me. But I cannot see the world in which that would happen.

    Baby Boom

I’m happy that she seems to be happy and semi stable? More that I had hoped for her. I also really like this quote at the end of the article above. She also revealed that after her son was born, she decided to embrace her post-baby body by getting rid of clothes in her closet that didn’t fit anymore. “I want to look nice for how I look now,” she said. “There was a time when I was like, ‘S---! I don’t fit into anything anymore.’ I just bought clothes in the size I am now. I don’t care.”

I liked this article from the Irish Times. Clearly anti monarchy, but pretty fair read on the situation overall and pretty amusing first two paragraphs. Also, some of my ancestors were killed by clowns too, so I sympathize somewhat. https://www.irishtimes.com/culture/tv-radio-web/harry-and-meghan-the-union-of-two-great-houses-the-windsors-and-the-celebrities-is-complete-1.4504502?fbclid=IwAR12CXE-sWsGHjPNMm-CGiZFNa-x_FQzdjIScCAlTVsp0n9Mt8EE6pcIMRM

Unfortunately this just frees up piers to be on Fox News. I do think a lot of the “slights” to Archie are procedural and part of the rules - just not what Williams kids get because he’s the heir. BUT considering the fact that there were significant threats to them, I feel like the family should have compromised more and extended protection despite the protocol. Of course this is all one sided, but it feels to me there were probably a lot of compromises that could have saved this situation.

Come on... who else is watching? Of note so far? they actually got married privately three days before the wedding. she says Kate made her cry over the flower girl dresses, not the opposite, but that at the time Kate apologized and was super gracious about it. Everyone involved knew what really happened but they allowed the fake stories to oersist, making it clear than no one had their back menbers of the family expressed concern to Harry that the baby that became Archie might be dark skinned she says she was suicidal and asked for help, to go to a treatment center for mental health issues and was told (by a very senior member of the family) she was unable to go. This was a big part of getting out of the country. The photos of them at the royal albert hall, she is pregnant wearing a sparkly blue dress, were taken that night just after she was told no. Interestingly when he discussed this later, i thought he said he didn’t ask anyone for help because it just wasn’t done... so I’m unclear if they got no help or just didn’t ask for it because they thought they could have no help It’s a girl due in the summer charles stopped taking Harry’s calls
