    Gabrielle Union

Gabrielle Union's Bad Mood? E! Online Sun Oct 23, 8:37 PM ET So much for a happy birthday. Gabrielle Union, who turns 32 on Oct. 29, has seen a scuttled party became a flashpoint between her high-powered PR firm and the owner of a hot Hollywood nightclub. An email written by publicist Holly Shakoor of BWR Public Relations was quickly disseminated around Industry in-boxes Friday. In the missive, Shakoor, who represents the Bring It On actress, urges a boycott of Club Mood because of owner David Judaken's alleged racist comments targeted at Union--an episode akin to the infamous Hermes dissing of Oprah Winfrey earlier this year. "I think you should all be aware of an incident that occurred with my client Gabrielle Union and the owner of Mood," the message begins. "Mood was going to host her birthday party which is a week away. Once the owner found out she was African American he not only cancelled her party but he proceed to say that he 'didnt' [sic] realize Gabrielle Union was black. I thought she was the white volleyball player. I don't want her kind of people in my club.' "I want to make you all aware of this so you can discourage your celeb clients from going and also doing any events with him." Judaken, reached via phone Friday, vigorously denied the account in the email, calling Shakoor's characterization of their discussion "completely false." "All the statements written in her email are untrue," he said. "To say that this event was canceled over race or creed is hurtful and slanderous." The South African-born owner of the flashy club says he is considering legal action against the Beverly Hills-based PR firm, saying his reputation may have already been damaged by the publicist's claims and the proposed boycott. "This has an immediate negative impact on my business," he said. BWR, for its part, released a statement late Friday seemingly backing off the call for publicists to discourage celebrity clients from booking events at the hotspot. "The information you have received via email was inadvertently forwarded from an interoffice email," the statement says. "The interoffice email was relaying third hand information that we received regarding a client. This email was sent within the office and not intended to be forwarded outside of the company. It by no means reflects our official position on this matter. We expect this matter to be amicably resolved between the parties concerned." Meanwhile, Judaken's rep, Greg Rogers, suggested a mea culpa was in order, saying the club owner "and his legal counsel are dealing with Ms. Shakoor and her public statements made on behalf of BWR Public Relations. They expect both a timely public apology, as well as a complete retraction of these statements." According to Judaken, the dust-up between Union's rep and the club stems from his decision to book another event at his club the night Union and BWR had set aside for the actress' birthday blow-out. Judaken says he simply got a more lucrative offer from another party looking to do an event at the club on the same date. He claims the Union party was "never finalized in writing or otherwise." He also says he recognized Union (and didn't confuse her with volleyball star/model Gabrielle Reece) and his decision had nothing to do with her race. Caught in the middle, Union has not commented on the brouhaha over her birthday bash. The Nebraska native, who was the first African-American love interest on NBC's Friends, currently stars in ABC's supernatural drama Night Stalker. She's also set to appear with Gwyneth Paltrow in the film Running with Scissors, which is due in theaters next year.

    Justin Timberlake

She kisses and tells Dominique Swain of “Alpha Dog” says in the new issue of Steppin’ Out magazine that onetime co-star Tara Reid is a “great kisser.” “She’s got nice soft lips and we got along very well,” the sex kitten says. Swain also dishes on a lesbian scene she did with Mia Kirshner for the flick “New Best Friend” in 2002. “I didn’t really feel a connection with her,” she reveals. “You have to try and get into it as much as possible, since the chemistry of the two actors is what makes sex scenes work.” As for her “Alpha” co-star Justin Timberlake, Swain says, “He’s such a huge music star that it’s almost hard to see him as anything else, but he makes it easy. He has these really sympathetic eyes and you can’t create that with acting. He’s a brilliant actor.”

Stress lands Wyclef Jean in hospital Wyclef Jean was hospitalized over the weekend at an undisclosed location due to "symptoms of stress and fatigue,” Jean’s rep told CNN. The musician has since been released, and his rep added that Jean “will be fine – just needs the space to recover.” The 37-year-old has had “an extremely grueling three months–truly an exhausting eight months, since the earthquake when he recommitted himself to our homeland and his passion for our people,” his rep explained further in a statement. The former Fugee “is currently suffering the effects of lack of sleep and stress, global travel, even the endless public eye, and has asked that his fans and supporters bear with him for the next several days as he regains his physical health and stamina.” Jean is planning to head back to work a week from today, and “will be back out in front of the crusade to rebuild Haiti and his pledge to make it even better for business,” according to the statement. The artist announced his intent to run for president of Haiti in August, but was deemed ineligible. Jean officially ended his bid for presidency last week. In a statement, he said fans can expect a new album, "If I Were President, the Haitian Experience," in February.

    Kate Hudson

Owen back in picture for Kate It's on again! Owen Wilson has been rekindling his romance with Kate Hudson this week in Australia, according to a close source. Hudson is Down Under filming "Fool's Gold" with Matthew McConaughey in the tropical state of Queensland. A pal says Hudson and Wilson are back together after a bumpy patch over the holidays. "Owen backed out [of Christmas and New Year] because he didn't want to deal with the whole situation with her family," the friend tells me. "There's [estranged husband Chris Robinson] and the baby, and also Goldie [Hawn] and Kurt [Russell] don't approve of the relationship." The extended family was to spend the holiday week together in Aspen, says the source, but in the end neither Owen nor Kate went. Wilson's rep said last night he was in India. But according to a second Aussie source, "Kate had a very close, friendly relationship with the paparazzi on set, but she changed her tune earlier this week. There was a five-day period when she requested no photographers. [Her people] even threatened to get the police on them if they didn't leave her alone." Let's hope a week in the Australian sun is what those kids need to work it out.

    Captain America

Role of Captain America offered to Chris Evans ‘Fantastic Four’ actor beats out Ryan Phillippe, Channing Tatum, others By Gregory Ellwood Hitfix.com updated 58 minutes ago The long, drawn out process to determine who will carry the shield of America's greatest super-patriot is over. Sources have confirmed to HitFix that Chris Evans has been offered the role of the title hero in "The First Avenger: Captain America." Other candidates for the part included Channing Tatum, Ryan Phillippe, John Krasinski and Mike Vogel. HitFix has learned the word about Evans' casting came down this afternoon to the other potential Cap's that the role was Evans'. Some of the other new actors auditioning for the role had not even met with director Joe Johnston yet when the decision was made. Evans is hardly a stranger to comic fans. He previously played hot-head Johnny Storm in 20th Century Fox's two "Fantastic Four" movies. Assuming Evans takes the role, he'll be committed to a number of future Marvel films including "Captain America" sequels, "The Avengers" and appearing in other Marvel Universe pictures. The 28-year-old actor last appeared on screen in 2009's Sci-Fi thriller "Push." He'll star opposite Zoe Saldana in another comic book adaptation, "The Losers," next month. He'll follow that up with "Scott Pilgrim vs. The World" which is based on a popular series of graphic novels. On a humorous note, this may be the second blonde Marvel hero the brown-haired Evans has played, but did not dye his hair for. Fans were initially ruffled when Evans stayed dark-haired as Johnny Storm so will he pull out the peroxide for Steve Rogers? Stay tuned. No word officially from Marvel Studios or distributor Paramount Pictures at this time.

Evan Rachel Wood Dates Both Sexes By Dahvi Shira Monday April 18, 2011 06:20 PM EDT Facebook Tweet Evan Rachel Wood isn't necessarily looking for the man of her dreams. The Mildred Pierce star, 23, would be just as happy if the right woman came along. "I'm into anything," Wood tells Esquire magazine in its May issue. "Meet a nice guy, meet a nice girl..." In the public eye, she's only dated men, but Wood – who was briefly engaged to shock-rocker Marilyn Manson – has experience with the same sex, as well. Asked if she dates women, she answers bluntly, "Yes." As for what she's like in a same-sex relationship, Wood says, "I'm more kind of like the guy when it comes to [dating] girls. I'm the dominant one … I'm opening the doors. I'm buying dinner. Yeah, I'm romantic." And Wood takes pleasure in her enigmatic persona. "I think I'm a little controversial," she says. "I just try and keep some mystery, so hopefully people can't really put their finger on it."

    Uhhhh...DUH!

We have Celebrity Dumb Ass Quotes...and Smart-Ass Quotes... Now thanks to Leaivory...This is the thread of Duhhh...Celebrity, No sh*t...Really? Ben Affleck: Dating J.Lo Was Probably Bad for My Career Monday October 1, 2007 Ben Affleck has come a long way in the nearly 10 years since he and Matt Damon won an Academy Award with their mothers by their sides. He's had more flops than blockbusters, a high-profile romance with Jennifer Lopez, and a daughter Violet, nearly 2, with his wife, actress Jennifer Garner. Now Affleck is staking his entire career on his new film Gone Baby Gone, a career that he now admits was sidelined by bad script choices and his dalliance with Lopez. In a revealing new interview in the November issue of Details magazine, the 35-year-old actor discusses his directorial debut, leaving Los Angeles, and how his life has evolved since Good Will Hunting came out in 1997. One thing that hasn't changed? The mama's boy's polite, downhome nature. Ever the gentleman, Affleck showed up to the interview despite a wicked cough and even had a good excuse for showing up late -- his German Shepherd got into a container of Metamucil and sprayed diarrhea all over the house. “There’s no way Jennifer [Garner] was going to clean that up by herself,” he joked. On dating Jennifer Lopez: “It was probably bad for my career. What happens is this sort of bleed-over from the tabloids across your movie work. You go to a movie, you only go once. But the tabloids and Internet are everywhere. You can really subsume the public image of somebody. I ended up in an unfortunate crosshair position where I was in a relationship and [the media] mostly lied and inflated a bunch of salacious stuff for the sake of selling magazines. And I paid a certain price for that. Then, in concert with some movies that didn’t work…” On Gone Baby Gone: “I feel like (Gone Baby Gone) is the linchpin for my life. My career. I have a lot riding on it. I want [the film] to work. Badly. I mean, a shitty movie comes out on 2,800 screens? I’ve been there and it’s embarrassing.” On why he likes directing: “That’s why there’s something really great about directing-about having authorship over something. If you don’t like this movie, I’m the guy to see. I’m the guy to criticize. I take some measure of comfort in that. It’s fair, at least.” On his directorial debut: “Listen, I’ve gone out and directed a movie and made it really f—king good. If the movie’s good, people will like it and go see it. All the rest of it is bullshit.” On what’s at stake with his new film: “It’s pretty simple. If people don’t go see it – I’m f—ked.” On his decision to direct: “I guess I just thought, I’ve seen it done enough. I’ve been on the sets enough. I’m a writer. An amateur photographer. An actor. I guess I just thought the sum of these parts would come together and I’d be able to do it.” On living in L.A.: “I’d be surprised if I’m still living here in a couple of years. Professionally it would be difficult. But that’s not as important as that other thing.”

Sean Penn Attacks Jean For Failing To Accept Presidential Dream Is Over 52 minutes ago | WENN | See recent WENN news » Sean Penn has fired up his war of words with Wyclef Jean after learning of the hip-hop star's plans to contest a decision that will keep him from running for president of his native Haiti. The former Fugees star first irked Penn, who has actively been part of the relief effort in the earthquake-ravaged nation throughout the past six months, when he first announced his plans to become the country's next leader earlier this month. The Oscar winner and activist criticised Wyclef's apparent absence from his homeland in the wake of the devastating earthquake during a recent appearance on CNN news show Larry King Live. And now Penn has written a commentary about the hip-hop star's bid for the presidency online after learning the Gone 'Til November hitmaker is fighting a decision by Haiti electoral officials that rules him ineligible for high political office. In the piece, published by TheHuffingtonPost.com, Penn writes, "(I am) someone who has spent most of the last six months following the devastating earthquake, side by side in that country (Haiti), with so many others, doing whatever we could to lend a hand. I have never met Wyclef Jean, and all I really know of him on any personal level has come through the fond comments of a few mutual friends. "Wyclef Jean gave indispensable world attention to Haiti's incredible misfortune (but) I was there for those 6 months after the earthquake and so many of us on the ground wondered where he was when that kind of attention was so necessary and absent, and why he was Not helping to keep this desperate situation in the news. "None among us felt or expressed anger toward it, but rather a universal sadness for his silence, as he is America's most admired cultural link to Haiti. As the six-month Anniversary (of the earthquake) approached, it triggered the return of the world media, and of Wyclef Jean to Haiti." He insists Jean is the wrong celebrity to be running for office in Haiti, adding, "It's clear that Mr. Jean can have an important place in drawing attention to Haiti's needs. However, when New York press agents circle wagons of ignorance and sell as deep insight the advertisement of that which charms them about a client, the lives and needs of the Haitian people are sidelined." And Penn then attacks Jean for comments the singer/songwriter made regarding his opposition to the former Fugees star's presidential bid. The actor adds, "When he chose to attempt to discredit me, claiming... that my time in Haiti had been restricted to 'one particular area', that area he was referring to is the 55,000 person Idp (Internally Displaced Person) Camp that I and my organization were tasked to manage by the International Office of Migration... "Jean said the following: "I would like to tell Sean Penn I do not react on emotions when it comes to the Haitian people. I do not have to sacrifice my life and live inside of a tent to prove that I am for the Haitian people." No, he doesn't have to live in a tent. But it would be nice if he visited once and awhile." Penn concludes, "These elections are crucial, and I have no part in them. Neither should Mr. Jean."

NEWS/ Prison Break Star Wentworth Miller Comes Out As Gay by Marc Malkin Today 2:47 PM PDT Wentworth Miller has come out as gay. The Prison Break star decided it was time to publicly reveal his sexuality after being invited to attend a film festival in Russia. "Thank you for your kind invitation. As someone who has enjoyed visiting Russia in the past and can also claim a degree of Russian ancestry, it would make me happy to say yes," Wentworth, 41, says in a letter to Maria Averbakh, director of the St. Petersburg International Film Festival. "However, as a gay man, I must decline. "I am deeply troubled by the current attitude toward and treatment of gay men and women by the Russian government," he continued in the letter, posted on GLAAD's website. "The situation is in no way acceptable, and I cannot in good conscience participate in a celebratory occasion hosted by a country where people like myself are being systematically denied their basic right to live and love openly. He also said "if circumstances improve, I'll be free to make a different choice." GLAAD spokesman Wilson Cruz praised Miller's actions. "Wentworth's bold show of support sends a powerful message to LGBT Russians: you are not alone," Cruz said. "As people from across the globe continue to speak out against this horrific law, more celebrities and corporations should follow his courageous lead in openly condemning Russia's anti-LGBT law."

    Celebrity Rehab

'Glee' star Cory Monteith checks into rehab "Glee" actor Cory Monteith, who's portrayed Finn Hudson on the Fox comedy since it began in 2009, has checked into rehab. A rep tells CNN that the 30-year-old has voluntarily entered a treatment facility for substance addiction. "He graciously asks for your respect and privacy as he takes the necessary steps towards recovery," Monteith's rep says in a statement. Monteith has been frank about his struggles with substance abuse, telling Parade magazine in 2011 that he began using drugs at 13, and by 19 went into rehab after his mother and friends intervened. "I’m lucky on so many counts - I’m lucky to be alive," Monteith said at the time. "I had a serious problem." As Monteith's present efforts at recovery have become public, his girlfriend and co-star Lea Michele is standing behind him. The 26-year-old actress, who began publicly dating Monteith in 2012, tweeted on Sunday that she's feeling "so grateful." "I love and support Cory and will stand by him through this," she added to People magazine. "I am grateful and proud that he made this decision." Monteith, it seems, is feeling the same gratitude. "uch a beautiful day!" he tweeted on March 28. "Truly seeing the forest for the trees. #gratitude"

GERARD BUTLER In Rehab [update] 12:04 PM PST -- Gerard's manager, Alan Siegel tells TMZ, "Gerard left Betty Ford early this morning and he's healthy." ---------------------------------------------------------- Gerard Butler is being treated for substance abuse at the Betty Ford Center ... TMZ has learned. Butler's problems were triggered by the physical demands of shooting "300" in 2006 (see video below of Gerard preparing for the role). We're told the actor began struggling with pain management, and the problem became exacerbated while filming "Of Men and Mavericks," when Butler was badly hurt on December 18 during a surfing accident. We're told Butler realized he was relying too much on prescription drugs and decided to head off a full-blown addiction by entering Betty Ford three weeks ago. Sources tell TMZ ... Butler also developed issues with cocaine, but the root problem appears to be the injuries and pain management. We're told Butler will be leaving Betty Ford later today.

    Inception

I recently saw Inception and I have to say I was thoroughly impressed...I have to strongly recommend this film. I was concerned that people wouldn't see this flick because it does not have a simplistic plot like Transformers (but looks like people are going to see this film). I think this film was similar to the Matrix but was so much deeper. It was even better than Dark Knight. The only warning with this flick is that it is a thinking person's film. You cannot leave and come back and expect to understand what happened. I probably will have to see again, because I will admit I was lost in some areas. Again, I strongly recommend seeing this masterpiece.
