Duchess of York, Sarah Ferguson, caught on tape trying to sell access to ex-husband, Prince Andrew (from NY Daily News) The Duchess of York has been caught on tape trying to make big bucks off Buckingham Palace, selling access to ex-hubby Prince Andrew for more than $700,000. The pathetic bid for money was completely unknown to the prince, who is the second son of Queen Elizabeth and fourth in line to the throne, according to the News of the World, which set up the sting operation. Ferguson, a 50-year-old redhead, even says flat out the prince "never does accept a penny for anything," before shaking on the shady deal. Ferguson's spokeswoman, Kate Waddington, confirmed to The Associated Press the recording was authentic. She said the duchess was "devastated" and regretted the embarrassment she had caused. The tabloid details two secret meetings in New York and London where the former Weight Watchers spokeswoman unveiled her ploy for payments: blatantly asking for a $40,000 cash advance followed by 500,000 pounds ($718,500) as a wire transfer and a promise of future commissions in exchange for providing access to Britain's royal family. The sting, unveiled Sunday, includes video of the London meeting. Ferguson can be seen sitting in a bland Mayfair apartment, smoking a cigarette and sipping off a glass of red wine as a pile of bills sits on the coffee table. The tabloid's reporter posed as a wealthy businessman seeking trade connections. Prince Andrew, 50, works as an unpaid special representative for Britain's international trade and investment. "Five hundred thousand pounds when you can, to me - open doors," Ferguson tells the reporter, whose voice is disguised and face is blurred out in footage the newspaper said was shot around midnight on Tuesday. "Look after me and he'll look after you," she said. "You'll get it back tenfold. I can open any door you want." Ferguson and Prince Andrew have two daughters, Princesses Beatrice, 21, and Eugenie 20. The royal pair married in 1986, but split 10 years later. With News Wire Services Read more: http://www.nydailynews.com/gossip/2010/05/...l#ixzz0onDerp8I

Most of us who follow celebrity gossip think the couples listed above are totally doomed. So now, it's just a matter of deciding which one will beat the others to arrive in divorce court, first. As usual, you only get one vote and can't "undo" once it's cast. After you vote, pls post a comment about why you chose your couple. Kudos to MaxieMom: 100% of brains behind this poll. *edited to correctly name MaxieMom as the polls "godmother"

Interesting. I attended similar and investing WAS spoken about, never directly (= never, "mum just bought 10,000 shares of IBM at $34.67") but indirectly ("Oh, Heather's new convertible? Apparently her dad made a killing on Microsoft" or "Yeah, Ushi's family lives in a condo now but before they lost a lot of money in the 1987 market thingy, they were in a mansion!") In any case, the idea that folks in Meghan's world (private school and university) didn't talk about investing because it was too fancy is ludicrous.
-
Errrr, the world of private girl's school followed by NorthWestern entirely funded by daddy? I'm absolutely sure investing was talked about at some of those places.

https://spectator.us/topic/truth-about-meghan-harry-oprah-caroline-giuliani/ I found this article pretty much summed it up for me.

Thanks for doing the poll, Funky! I suspect Justin Timberlake and jessica might go pear-shaped this year, based on his recent indiscretion.
-
Thank you. I think I'll be able to return to it the following year. Just can't do it at the moment.
-
Well, my preference for the poll would be to include the same couples year after year, since we know it’s inevitable that the vast majority will split... it’s just a matter of when. I find it interesting to track relationships over time and watch them develop and disintegrate. However, many of you have indicated that you prefer novelty over continuity. So here we have it! In your honour, a list with many new-to-the-poll celebrity and semi-celebrity couples. (But be warned: next year I will indulge myself and return to including mostly our Golden Oldy couples.) Enjoy!
-
Anyway, I won't be able to create this upcoming new year's poll but it would be a shame to let the long tradition end. Fkyelicious... sounds like you have what it takes to make the next one: go for it!

Would anyone like to volunteer to create this new year’s divorce poll?

Interesting stuff. I pretty much agree with this, whole-heartedly: https://www.spectator.co.uk/2019/08/by-royal-disappointment-meghan-and-harrys-behaviour-is-undermining-the-monarchy/
-
Then again, this couple has broken up and made up many times before... I’ll believe the divorce when it actually happens.

Miley and Liam separating after 8 months of wedded bliss: https://www.usmagazine.com/celebrity-news/news/miley-cyrus-liam-hemsworth-split-after-less-than-8-months-of-marriage/

Interesting @Hoya. I'd say she cares about jewellery - if she didn't, she'd do as my sister and many other people do, which is no engagement ring or an engagement ring she doesn't wear. But to me these 3 wildly different rings signify a woman who, each time, tries to to convince herself and others, "no, but this marriage really is different and I've grown and matured and changed since the last one..."
-
" Just saw that Adrianne Palicki and Scott Grimes are divorcing after just 2 months. " I don't get it. How is it even possible to marry and file for divorce within 8 weeks? i mean, I guess if you discover your new spouse has been hiding an addiction or lied to you about sexual orientation or you caught them cheating? I just... I can't... wow.
-
That ring is FUG. I love yellow diamonds but the setting and shape... non non non. However, I guess when you've already been given a honking round colorless diamond engagement ring (ryan reynolds) and you've already been given a multistone vintage- inspired colorless diamond engagement ring (Romain the surly Frenchie), you are now ready for something modern and colored. *shrug*

Rachel Leigh Cook and her husband split after 14 years of marriage (and she still looks like she's about 22 years old!) https://www.dailymail.co.uk/tvshowbiz/article-7140189/Rachael-Leigh-Cook-husband-Daniel-Gillies-announce-separation-14-years-marriage.html

https://www.psychologytoday.com/ca/blog/the-intelligent-divorce/201202/the-high-failure-rate-second-and-third-marriages 73% of 3rd marriages end in divorce. I wonder what that percentage is, in Hollywood?

This article (with all its spelling and grammatical errors) was published on the forbes website and pulled a number of hours later. Word is, the new PR person decided to quash it. Anyway, here is an archived copy: http://web.archive.org/web/20190329225305/https://www.forbes.com/sites/rogeraitken/2019/03/29/meghan-markle-does-the-british-tax-payer-know-how-much-me-gain-royal-is-costing/amp/

Oh, and Of Course biebs and his child bride will split. But, I don’t think it’ll happen until they spit out a poor baby or two, just to make the situation extra-sad and the inevitable divorce extra-messy. Ergo, they did not receive my vote.
-
Nah, decided to leave all royals out of it. Re. Natalie and the millipede: I only included a few golden oldies who had received many votes in past... they were among the highest scorers in bygone polls. i feel bad for Chris Pratt. The Kennedy clan will chew him up and spit him out a broken man... they are a pack of thugs and he seems quite sweet and simple.

I used to try to pick mostly A-list (or A-list adjacent) couples. But this year, in an attempt to give y’all the fresh blood you crave?, I’ve included many less illustrious names. Hope you like ‘em.
-
Okay, everyone. Folks complain when it's the same couples, year after year, so I've again added new names... knowing that those I've removed will probably now divorce (Murphys Law, and all that!) You can only vote once so please choose carefully. Also, try to post about why you picked the couple you selected (interesting to see everyone's reasons) Moderator: please close the 2017 poll. Thank you.
