I did this morning - Ben Platt was on Today show and he just needs an Oscar 😉 Though I forget what his Emmy is so I need to revisit..... Is it just me or does it seem the EGOT is easier now? Not sure if it's because talented creative people have so many more options for engagement now, or because categories have widened for non-traditional options (like spoken word grammys - have those always been a thing??)

This is what I fear too. On the other hand, most people who die that way were allowed to do it, never under conservatorship (thinking Amy Winehouse right now). So, which is better? Neither, right?? I've always supported a non-family member conservator, but not having seen the evidence, not sure taking away conservatorship is a good idea.....

Diving has minimum ages too - not sure if Olympics but Worlds do, and most countries choose team from World or other international competitions, so it stands to reason there's a practical limit. I think it's 14 by December of the year in which the competition is held - because the Chinese woman (teen) who won (or silver, it's been a few days) the women's 10M platform is 14 - she only is in the Olympics because of the COVID delay. And I DEFINITELY worry about the "training regimes" of some countries - China for sure, like East Germany and the Soviets in the past. Russia probably does some still but they don't have as much money as they used to, so.....

My biggest complaint (and from the WaPo newsletter I get, I wasn't the only one!) is that finding what I wanted to watch was really difficult. Some things were only streaming, so I skipped those (not with my husband, not a ton of data so not worth it to me) And it seems that half the things I set to record from Directv weren't the sport they were supposed to be. I understand shuffling due to the typhoon, hot temps etc - but then the "companies of NBC Universal" or whomever owns the US viewing rights needs to clean that shit up in the metadata on directv so the right stuff records! I still have a few more hours recorded - we'll enjoy this week (diving, artistic swimming, rhythmic gymnastics....) I have enjoyed what I've seen! Always something new to learn (surfing, skateboarding, sport climbing) and old standbys (diving, we just love it)..... I also told my husband that even though I'm super anxious about going out in public (even though vaccinated - all states back up in red zones these days and who wants that???) if there's a last minute visa/ticket package for Beijing, I'm not saying no......I just got my passport renewed (and we had cancelled plans because I didn't know when I'd get my passport back!) I don't know if I actually could get on a plane and go to China, I want desperately to go to an Olympics, esp winter. We missed out on 2002 in Salt Lake WHEN MY DAD LIVED THERE and I've been bitter about it ever sense. All my family went and had a blast and we were working in New Orleans in a hotel that barely had NBC (such bad reception!!!) It would have to be a deal with a quick/special visa - I worked in China 2011-2016 and was never able to get a 10yr visa, so I don't have one that's current.....

I haven't heard anyone talking about whether or not he can be forced, legally, to respond to this lawsuit.....Obviously it looks awful if he squirms out of questioning etc, but I'm sure it would be in his best interest to keep his mouth shut.....

I agree, BUT - the Scobie book was fun fluff and I did enjoy it! It's gossip, really. A memoir about mental health & personal growth? I don't think will be frothy and fun - so that's my reason not to want to read it 😉

I definitely assumed it was that bad for the conservatorship to be renewed (though I know it's easier to maintain the conservatorship than to have it granted in the first place). I'm still so torn on this issue - I feel really strongly about bodily autonomy BUT if you have an illness that prevents rational decisions.....

So sorry for you! Hope it's light and no long term issues! While it's true something like 99% of deaths from COVID now are in unvaccinated, we're just now starting to talk about morbidity again and what it could mean - long covid is no joke, potential permanent damage to brains, respiratory systems etc. MISC in kids who cannot be vaccinated yet. And so on. We're getting ready to cancel the trip we had planned for December, just gonna stick close to home for a while longer, continue with my mask & distancing..... Meanwhile my office is getting ready to start opening - next week for some. Not sure what it means for me but I've already told my boss I wanna work from home as much as possible - don't know yet if I will be able to or not.....

Just saw the unveiling of the Diana statue at Kensington Palace. Not listening in (they interupted Today with Hoda & Jenna 😉 ) Funny difference between two - Will undid the rope and they both pulled the fabric off. Will ended up with the rope which he tossed on the ground (for the underlings to deal with, I'm sure) while Harry rolled up the fabric and looked for the proper place to put it (someone took it from him). That just screamed out at me the differences in people (I see those sorts of differences among friends and family too - some people are selfish and some people are helpers....)

Personally, I don't think her family should be conservators but I'm withholding judgement on whether or not she still "needs" the conservatorship itself.
