    Kathy Griffin

Yeah, she's a comedian, they put down hecklers. It's a fairly common retort--I've heard it (and variations) before.....I think the G-rated versions involves not going down to your job and knocking the mop out of your hands....

    Most Anticipated Movies In 2009

def Harry Potter but since I don't go to theaters and wait for dvds, it'll be 2010 for me I fear......

    Zooey Deschanel

I loved her in Elf--esp. singing Baby It's Cold Outside--my fave holiday song for the past few years running....I thought she already had a thread though? Guess not, must have been one of the movie threads I'm thinking of.....

    Ricky Martin

Clay asked a friend to have his baby. Ricky used a surrogate. Different scenarios. I highly doubt the surrogate will be involved in their lives.

    Oprah Winfrey

It's great to be healthy and not skinny. However--I don't think Oprah is all that healthy at the moment either. She admitted she's not exercising and she "rewards" herself with food. How many of us reward ourselves with carrot sticks?? So she's probably not eating the best, well-rounded, diet. I still refuse to watch her on tv, but I have admitted before I can totally relate to her weight struggles and it makes her more like a normal woman i can relate to. You know, if all my friends were multi-billionnaires too

    Tina Fey

Too funny--I thought I was the only one like that

    Alyson Hannigan & Alexis Denisof

They couldn't have just announced it because I remember talking about it a couple weeks ago when they had the first "do we want a baby" storyline on How I Met Your Mother...... Ah, phew, the People article is dated October 22......

    What are you reading?

Finished The Other Queen. MUCH better than the last Gregory book, the Boleyn Inheritance! I thought it was as good as her earliest Tudor books (which are my favorites) It also explored a different time period than the George book, I'm pretty sure (it was new information to me, so either I totally forgot what the George book was about, which is possible , or it really is a different approach) So I definitely recommend both historical fictions about Queen Mary. I think I might have to get the George book from the library again, just to bump my memory. But for now, I'm back to finish Widows of Eastwick and then start The Eight by Katherine Neville. Reading a review for her new book that looks interesting, I saw it was the 2nd in the series so I thought I'd go back and read the first one--hadn't heard of it before, it looks interesting....

    Kim Catrall

What do you mean? I don't see anything inappropriate here--am I missing something?

    Hugh Jackman

But--he IS sexy as shit!! Sooooo much sexier than, say, Zac Efron!

    What are you reading?

If you like forensics (CSI, Kathy Reichs, Patricia Cornwell) AND historical fiction, I highly recommend Ariana Franklin. First book is Mistress of the Art of Death and the new one (#2) just came out-- The Serpent’s Tale. It's not the Tudor time period (it's Henry II, end of the 12th century) but I love the books and got my mom hooked on them too: http://www.arianafranklin.com/ and http://www.mistressoftheartofdeath.com/ A really unique blend of historical fiction, feminism, and science. But easy to read!

    What are you reading?

How funny--I picked up The Other Queen on Saturday at the library and dropped the Widows of Eastwick to read about Mary instead (there's a line for The Other Queen but I can renew the Widows of Eastwick if I need to) Since you want to stay in the Elizabethan age but you might be a bit burned out after these three heav(ier) books in a row, why don't you try one of the mysteries I recommended previously--Fiona Buckley (start with Siren Queen) or Karen Harper (start with Poyson Garden) Kathy Lynn Emerson gets you the right period (but not about the queen exactly--just a noblewoman-start with Face Down in the Marrow Bone Pie).

    Hugh Jackman

I sort of feel about Hugh and his wife the way I feel about Travolta and Kelly--he loves her, loves the family and being a father, but isn't sexually interested in her and might have other relationships and/or flings on the side. I don't see any of that sort of emotion between Tom Cruise and Katie, for example--which I would consider much more a "traditional" bearding possibly contract situation.

    Hugh Jackman

Searching by name, way too many items we've guessed him for came up, but I seem to recall it wasn't a "bad" blind item, just a closeted item.

    Daniel Craig

I'm a Sean Connery Bond fan myself, but warmed up to Daniel Craig quickly. Certainly when he walked across the beach in those tight shorts, oh my......I think it's pretty violent too, and I don't like that. But I have the entire Bond collection on dvd so I can transport myself back to "the good old days" of martinis & seduction and offscreen violence anytime I want

    Hugh Jackman

PS According to the archives, Hugh has been "officially notted" by Ted as Toothy.
  17. Hoyaheel

    Hugh Jackman

Um, no. I can't believe there are actually people out there who don't think that Jake is Toothy Hugh is a popular guess for one about being in love with his assistant, and probably a few others--can't remember right now which items were Ted and which were other gossipers......

    Charlie Sheen

Yeah but he's kind of honest about it--I find that refreshing. Yes, I have had a thing for him since Ferrie Bueller, at least. Sorry But I don't have to live with him--totally different situation to lust from afar

    Simon Cowell

Oh c'mon--who amongst us has NOT played the game "Gay or British"? (occasionally placing someone in the "both" category

    Charlie Sheen

How old is he? Mid 40s? Would you marry a guy that old, with that reputation (a rep he's had all along, not just in his youth) and truly expect him to change??? I feel sorry for her if she did but I doubt that's the case....

Don't you know you're supposed to do the icky stuff first, and save the best for last? Good luck!!

    What are you reading?

Thanks! It's not checked off on my reading list (12 pages long, 8pt font ) so I'll get it again and see--usually after about a chapter I can tell. But if I forget to check a book off my reading list--I'm in trouble! I definitely pull the same books from the library or at Costco Maybe I thought I read the ALison Weird Mary book and really read the George book, in which case, I should get the Weir book from the library, right? Oh,so many books, so little time (and memory, apparently )

    What are you reading?

I lied--it was the historicals thread. There isn't a mystery thread. But since lots of the mysteries I read are historical--I posted about them in this thread:http://www.fanchitchat.com/chatboard/index...?showtopic=6785

    What are you reading?

I liked Cleopatra but Henry VIII is still my fave. Mary of Magdalene was pretty good too, but I could barely make it through Helen of Troy--had to force myself to finish that one. I realized I haven't read the Mary Queen of Scots book by George so I'll have to get that at the library. I'm not sure what number in line I am for Gregory's The Other Queen, but I do know that my mom went in to request it and told them to put her name in front of mine ("because I'm her mother"). I think she was only kidding--but the library wouldn't do it anyway--I've been living in the town and on the library board longer than she has I'll have to remember to look for Gedge--I haven't heard of that series. I tend to read a lot of series about ancient Rome (eg Lindsay Davis, Steven Saylor) but I like Egypt too--though my favorite Egypt is turn of the 20th C, Elizabeth Peters' Amelia Peabody mysteries.... On the Tudor kick--have you read any of the Tudor themed mystery series I may or may not have written about in the Mysteries thread here? If you're interested I'll post tomorrow--my book list is on the other computer

    What are you reading?

I've loved Margaret George for a long time! The Autobiography of Henry VIII is one of my favorite books ever. I'm on the waiting list for the Other Queen at the library (Gregory book) Doesn't Margaret George have a Queen Mary book too? Would be interesting to read side by side (I don't think I've read the George QMary book yet....But maybe I'm thinking of Alison Weir--there are a handful of authors who've all written on the same topics in a similar style and I do start to get confused...) I have to get to the library--Widows of Eastwick is in for me! (John Updike sequel to Witches of Eastwick--one of the few books of his I actually enjoyed--the sequel has been getting ok reviews)
