Jake Gyllenhaal's Muscle Dream

Jake Gyllenhaal has always wanted to be an action hero.

The 29-year-old actor - who plays a young prince in the movie adaptation of the video game 'Prince of Persia: The Sands Of Time' - said he enjoyed buffing up for the role and not having to play serious characters for a change.

He said: "I'd come off a lot of films that were very character driven and I had exercised all those muscles, it was time to try something else. It's so much fun to just run around and fight. It's like what I always dreamed of doing when I thought about being an actor as a little kid.

"And then I made all these movies where I was like... I mean, I like all the stories I made, but I've always wanted to do this. It's a legitimate action movie!"

The 'Brokeback Mountain' star spent six months in the gym training for the part but said he wasn't just doing it to "look good".

He told Empire magazine: "How did I get so big? In order to be a warrior fighting in all these scenes and to actually fight with these people and have legitimate fun in the movie, it required six months of pretty heavy training, as if I were fighting, as if I were running on walls, as if I were jumping up and down and grabbing things. I mean, it was really fun stuff. "

Dolly Darko Jake Gyllenhaal

Jake Gyllenhaal "can't wait" to become an action figure.

The 29-year-old actor plans to head straight to the shops as soon as his character from forthcoming movie 'Prince of Persia: Sands of Time' is immortalised in plastic.

He said: "A lot of people find it weird to have little action figures of themselves, but I think it's great. In fact it's awesome! I can't wait. I'm going to buy loads."

In the film - which is based on the popular video game series - Jake plays hero Dastan who teams up with Princess Tamina, played by Gemma Arterton, to find ancient artefact the Sands of Time in the adventure which is set in 6th Century Persia.

Jake isn't the only star happy to have been turned into an action figure.

Sienna Miller was delighted when her character in 'G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra', The Baroness, was made into a doll.

She said: "I'll have happy nieces and nephews. My Baroness doll is so flexible too. Her foot can even flex 360 degrees. Kids will be killing me though because I'm the baddie!"

However, her joy soon turned to horror when she realised the figurine showed off parts of her body she would rather keep private.

Sienna said: "I got measured in this pod so the doll is exactly to scale - every nook and cranny. They showed me my bald head before it was painted on and it was me! That was weird."

Jake Gyllenhaal's Sandal Ban

Jake Gyllenhaal wouldn't wear sandals in 'Prince of Persia: Sands of Time'.

The 29-year-old actor admits he didn't want the fantasy adventure to be perceived as a "swords and sandals epic" and did his best to avoid stereotyping.

He said: "This is not a swords and sandals epic. It's definitely not that. None of us wear sandals in this movie. I made a very conscious decision and it was very important to me that I did not wear sandals.

"This is a huge, classic epic filled with real characters. It has those wonderful old-school elements you love about film and yet at the same time it's right there on the cutting edge."

Discussing the toned physique he displays in the movie - in which he stars alongside British actress Gemma Arterton and 'Rules of Engagement' star Ben Kingsley - Jake admits it took a look of preparation.

He said: "I worked out for seven months. I wanted to be able to be able to do this stuff. And being intimidating was important. Even if it's just for myself, being confident fighting the stuntmen!"

Action Hero Jake Gyllenhaal

Jake Gyllenhaal wants to be Hollywood's next action hero.

The 'Prince of Persia: Sands of Time' star, who has played action roles in 'Jarhead' and 'The Day After Tomorrow', admits he wants to become known for his physical performances.

He said: "I've always wanted to do this - it's like a childhood dream. I love being physical, I'm very athletic and I like pushing myself. And I also like combat. Any opportunity to fight!"

The 29-year-old actor also suggests he is not scared of doing his own stunts, and in the new 'Prince of Persia' movie he hurt himself regularly.

He told Total Film magazine: "Even if I didn't pull it off and they had to use stuntmen, I would always try it first.

"I pulled some shoulders and I strained some backs and I screwed up my ankles a few times but nothing to worry about.

"On one take, I actually punched a guy in the face by mistake. I spend the rest of the takes trying not to punch him in the face, which is a strange irony really."

'Prince of Persia: Sands of Time' sees Jake take on the main role of Prince Dastan, alongside Gemma Arterton, Ben Kingsley and Alfred Molina.

The film is released worldwide during May.

Jake Gyllenhaal Ready To Be Fat And Happy

Jake Gyllenhaal expects to get fat soon.

The actor has stunned fans with his toned physique after working out in preparation for his role in 'Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time' - but has warned his supporters that his new shape won't last long because it was so difficult to achieve.

He said: "I probably put on five pounds of muscle which wasn't easy. It might look good in the movie but it's probably going to turn to fat before long.

"I'm going to be fat but I'm going to be happy."

Jake, 29, recently revealed he is excited about seeing action figure replicas of himself, which will be released around the same time as the action adventure movie.

He said: "A lot of people find it weird to have little action figures of themselves, but I think it's great.

"In fact it's awesome! I can't wait. I'm going to buy loads."

Jake Gyllenhaal Involved in Bar Fight?

Today 1:45 PM PDT by Ted Casablanca and Taryn Ryder

eonline.com

Did Jake Gyllenhaal roughhouse with a woman this weekend?

No, we don't mean in the fun way, babes. There's a report going around that the Prince of Persia star got into a little altercation up in Montreal over the weekend.

And we're here to sort things out for you...

The alleged incident supposedly went down Saturday night at restaurant Garde-Manger.

Apparently Gyllenhaal was dancing on the bench of his table with a group of pals, ticking off a blogger from DrunkenStepfather a few feet away who found the show to be quite egocentric.

Said blogger then went up to Jake's table, turned to a girl there and goes (according the blogger himself): "Hey isn't that the guy who kissed Heath Ledger?"

Gyllenhaal apparently got in the guys face, told him to f--ck off and got the dude escorted out of the club. Only problem is in this he-said, he-said tale is that the blogger also claims his female guest was pushed about 10 times by Gyllenhaal before J.G.'s crew pulled him away.

Gyllenhaal's rep claims blogger's story is "libelous" and informs us his lawyers are taking "immediate action."

And for more info on what really went down, here's what we've learned:

Jake was definitely at the restaurant Saturday night (he's a regular there) as was the blogger. Main discrepancy here? We're told by sources who were present that the blogger in question said, "Hey isn't that the guy who killed Heath Ledger?" prompting Jake to yell to the bouncers "get these guys the f--k out of here."

The instigator and his crew were then thrown out.

We originally read this blog post yesterday, where the site definitely had "killed" not "kissed" up until it was later changed. The post actually backs up this supposed kill claim by ranting in the item that if Jake was Ledger's friend, he probably would have been there for him in his low point.

Seriously can't say we blame Gyllenhaal's heated reaction. "Isn't that the guy who killed Heath Ledger?" Not a funny joke, dude. We wish punches were thrown.

As for this girl who was supposedly caught in the crossfire? Onlookers tell us "there were a bunch of girls" there but "no one was shoved or hurt."

Jake is currently in Montreal filming Source Code, which won't be affected by this nonincident. We hear filming has been going "great" up there before this.

Gyllenhaal, Dunst Reignite Relationship?

Jake Gyllenhaal has reportedly been seeking solace from his recent break-up with former flame Kirsten Dunst.

The actor, who split from his Rendition co-star Reese Witherspoon at the end of last year, dated Dunst for two years before parting ways in 2004.

Dunst revealed at the time that constant media scrutiny was behind their decision to separate.

A source told The Mirror that Gyllenhaal is spending time with the Spider-Man star to get back at Witherspoon. "He's been hanging with his ex Kirsten Dunst. But everyone knows it's a joke, for 'fun' only. It's pathetic. He's proving himself as immature as Reese said he was," the insider claimed.

Witherspoon, 33, has been linked to Creative Artists agent Jim Toth since their split.

Jake Gyllenhaal Is 'Okay' with Being Single – for Now

Tuesday April 13, 2010 12:30 PM EDT

people.com

Single since his split from Reese Witherspoon around Thanksgiving, Jake Gyllenhaal is taking stock of his life and career – but doesn't have any firm answers when it comes to love.

"It's okay," the Oscar-nominated actor, 29, says of the single life in an interview in GQ's May issue. "I think it's important for every man to find the right woman and every woman to find the right man ... Who am I to say what the most important thing in life is? The best answer I could give to any of those things is that I really don't know. Particularly right now in my life."

Uncertainty isn't such a bad thing, though. "I'm trying not to keep things so neat," Gyllenhaal says. "I think I'm realizing my strengths and my faults. I think I'm trying to see what is me ... and what is not me."

Gyllenhaal, who tackled his first true action role for the upcoming Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time, says his identity used to be tied almost exclusively to work. Ironically, it was the death of his friend and Brokeback Mountain costar Heath Ledger in 2008 that pushed him to embrace life.

"Life, I didn't totally understand. And I think I was afraid of life," he says. "And I had success in my work, enough success that you could keep going back there. But after [Ledger's death] … I think I recognized that it was work. And I recognized that this is for real."

And the actor's on a good path, says his brother-in-law and close friend Peter Sarsgaard, mostly because he doesn't have self-destructive tendencies.

Jake is a fundamentally positive person, Sarsgaard says, "and my thesis with Jake is that it is genuine. He is not doing it to be more popular and more successful; it is actually who he is."

from today's Ted Casablanca:

"Dear Ted:

Our rescue kitty, Trudi, is dying to know what is up with Jake Gyllenhaal. So many people think Jake is gay, but Trudi saw recent photos of him checking some girl out as she climbed some stairs. Did he do it to throw off the paps, or is he actually straight? (I don't think you can out someone as straight can you?) Inquiring kittens want to know...

—Treefon

Dear Yeah, Right:

I'm so sure Trudi is bypassing the catnip and the treats you spoil with her so she can check out the latest tabloids, uh-huh. Regardless, tell "Trudi" that Jake was checking out a pretty girl because that's what people who like sexy, pretty people do. The woman was a looker; he looked. End of story. Add to that, however, that Jake wants you right where you are: wondering. He's adamant that his intimate side remain his. Remind you of anybody else?

Everything this man does is for his own PR.

He's worse than Tom Cruise!
