SACRAMENTO - Judge Vaughn Walker has lifted a stay in order regarding last week's verdict that stated Proposition 8, California's law that defined marriage as a union between one man and one woman, is unconstitutional.

Better to keep it this way until the issue is resolved once and for all rather than keep on upsetting people's lives...

I have several gay friends in long term relationships that didn't get married a few years ago because they thought they didn't have to rush. They could take their time and plan a nice wedding like straight couples. Now they just want to get married, they don't care about politics. It's more upsetting to them that they can't do a quickie wedding in a narrow window of time, rather than wait for it to be this big political thing when the supreme court rules on it.

 

They made inter-racial marriages legal in the 60s. We think it's nuts now that it was ever illegal. I think this issue will be thought of in the same way 50 years from now.
