Eric Dane's Fight Against Cancer

For actor Eric Dane, the first sign that something was wrong came right after the new year, when the Grey's Anatomy star glanced in the mirror and saw what looked like chapped lips but clearly wasn’t.

 

“I went to my dermatologist,” Eric reveals in an exclusive interview in the new issue of OK!. But the last thing the 35-year-old expected was to be diagnosed with skin cancer. “He said it was malignant tissue caused by sun damage."

 

The malignancy was treated by freezing the cancerous tissue off with liquid nitrogen. Unfortunately for Eric, the actor had a severe reaction to a cream given to him for his lip after the treatment . “My skin is very sensitive," the actor most famous for playing Dr. Mark "McSteamy" Sloan, explains to OK!, "and my lip was traumatized by the procedure I had to go through.”

 

His lip’s overreaction to the medication created a painful scenario that made eating difficult, if not impossible. “I didn’t eat very well for a couple of weeks and lost a bunch of weight,” Eric explains, estimating that he dropped at least 10 pounds off his 6'1" frame while dealing with his cancer.

 

“Skin cancer is the most common form of cancer in the United States,” Dr. Micki Ly, a Maui, Hawaii-based dermatologist, explains to OK!. “More than a million cases are diagnosed annually.” But Eric was extremely wise to act quickly in dealing with it, she says. “The mouth is a bad area for a malignancy because they spread faster in mucosal areas, of which the mouth is one.”

Eric Dane "Mortified" by Cancer Claim

Eric Dane's "fight against cancer" was not nearly as dramatic as it sounds.

 

OK! magazine's cover story of their February 18 issue sensationalized the fact that the Grey's Anatomy actor, 35, had some malignant cells on his lip frozen off with liquid nitrogen in a doctor's office.

 

"Eric Dane does not have cancer," his rep tells Us Weekly in its latest issue, on newsstands now. "He spoke with OK! to clear up some inaccuracies they were planning to run. His story certainly does not compare with those actually suffering from the disease."

 

Dane, a source tells Us was "mortified" by the cover. "Never in a million years would he have expected they would exploit his story," says the source. "He's considering legal action."

 

(A rep for OK! tells Us, "OK! has not been contacted about legal action.)

 

This isn't the first time OK! has been wrong. Last month, Jessica Simpson's lawyers sent a strongly-worded letter demanding a retraction for an article claiming beau Tony Romo dumped her because she was high-maintenance. "That rag completely fabricated and made up this story," rep Cindi Berger told Usmagazine.com.

Eric Dane Is Not Happy with OK! Magazine

 

 

A few weeks ago, OK! Magazine reported that Eric Dane, aka "McSteamy" had suffered a recent bout with skin cancer on his lip. The magazine quoted him as saying that a procedure to freeze off some malignant cells, "traumatized" the actors smacker and that it caused him to lose a bunch of weight.

 

Now his spokesperson is insisting that Eric is just fine and that OK Magazine blew the story out of proportion. He says, "Eric Dane does not have cancer. He spoke with OK! to clear up some inaccuracies they were planning to run. His story certainly does not compare with those actually suffering from the disease."

 

Seems those inaccuracies weren't cleared up by the magazine and a source claims Eric was "mortified," and considering legal action against the publication.

 

Good thing Eric is just fine -- now that the strike is over that pout will be back on the air as Dr. Sloan in just a few weeks!

Dane joins 'Marley & Me'

'Grey's Anatomy' actor set for comedy

Eric Dane will be moonlighting from "Grey's Anatomy" to take a co-starring role alongside Owen Wilson, Jennifer Aniston and Alan Arkin in "Marley & Me," Fox 2000's adaptation of John Grogan's bestselling memoir. David Franklin is directing.

 

Wilson plays the ambitious reporter who moves with his wife (Aniston) to Miami for a newspaper job. Dane will play the journo's best friend, who suggests that the reporter adopt a puppy as a substitute for the children his wife wants to have. Marley morphs from an adorable Lab puppy into an incorrigible handful.

 

Pic shoots in Miami this month. Gil Netter and Karen Rosenfelt produce; Don Roos and Scott Frank wrote the script.

 

Dane's last movie was "X-Men: The Last Stand."

Peniche, 25, probably had a similar future in mind when she was crowned Miss Teen USA in 2002, but it wasn't to be. She was stripped of her crown for posing in Playboy (NSFW link). Peniche tried to leverage the controversy into a career, and knocked around on the Hollywood Z-list for a while. She got engaged to Backstreet Boy Nick Aaron Carter for a minute. There were a handful of TV and film roles, but lately, a source in Hollywood tells us, she's ended up working as a madam, working the Hollywood club scene as "Tristan Bailey." Her m.o.: When horny club dudes would hit on her, she'd tell them she was seeing someone…but, she could hook them up with someone who knew some smokin' hotties-for-hire. The dudes would then be redirected back to her service, and she'd occasionally turn a trick herself.

 

Recently she was thrown off Dr. Drew's Celebrity Rehab (where she was being treated for sex addiction) amidst back-and-forth accusations that she punched out a cameraman, entertained unsavory drug dealer types at the Sun Valley sober house, and stole money and personal belongings from her roommate, country singer Mindy McCready. As of late July, the Hollywood vice squad got a hold of Peniche's client list and the above video, which Peniche herself had been showing around to friends. The most damning part segment: Peniche lying topless in bed reading off a credit card into a phone. (Or maybe she's just ordering out?) Here's the evidence receipt, with the identities of the cops and the person who turned it over blurred out.

 

Oh, and a fun fact: This isnt't the first time Gayheart's been seen naked and high in a hot tub. This past June, the National Enquirer printed a 2003 photo of her in a bathtub with an unidentified woman and a crack pipe. As Dane comments while his wife gets naked with another woman again, he pays Peniche, who's facing a criminal investigation while they are not, a back-handed compliment: "You're, like, a good hang. I see you on the street tomorrow, you're one of Rebecca's friends."

McSteamy and Rebecca Gayfart are going to have a baby. That's what Life & Style is saying. Sources say that the stars of the most boring celebrity "nekkid tape" of all-time are expecting one of those baby things in 5-6 months. Insert your very own customized "smackhead child killah is going to be a mom" joke here.

 

This source said that they have been trying to spawn for a while now and Rebecca even turned down highly important roles (sarcasm) in order to focus on getting pregnant. The source added, "She turned down the role of Penn Badgley's mother on 'Gossip Girl' because it was based in N.Y.C. and she didn't want to be away from Eric or travel that far. It was bad for her health. Rebecca also turned down a Hallmark movie and a Lifetime movie because she was trying to have a baby."

GREY'S DANE COKE SCANDAL

 

 

 

Hot on the heels of their embarrassing sex-tape scandal, Grey's Anatomy Eric Dane and wife Rebecca Gayheart caught using cocaine, claims an eyewitness.

 

Only days after the video of the couple romping naked with a former Miss Teen USA was leaked on the Internet, a source alleged that he had seen the couple snorting cocaine at a Hollywood party.

 

The latest harrowing scandal also follows The ENQUIRER's publication of a shocking exclusive photo of Rebecca - showing the former Beverly Hills, 90210 star naked in a bathtub holding a crack pipe.

 

The Hollywood Hills cocaine party took place late last year, according to the source.

 

Eric, 36 - who plays Dr. Mark "McSteamy" Sloan - arrived with 38-year-old Rebecca, according to the eyewitness, who passed a lie detector test about the claim.

 

"I think Eric and Rebecca were there to get high. It didn't take long before she asked where the coke was. They went into another room and started snorting lines of cocaine. I watched them do it.

 

"They arrived in the afternoon and stayed well into the evening.

 

"Rebecca used to date one of the guys at the house. I'm sure she knew he had major drug connections."

 

The party took place up a winding road at a hideaway mansion that is notorious for the availability of a wide array of different drugs, said the source.

Yeah, you never know. If does get pregnant/is pregnant, I hope that she does what's best for the child, for the child's sake. I know some people say it's wrong to put the child first and not your marriage first, but I had a very difficult childhood and when I had my own child I made a vow to put her first - she never asked to come into the world and it's important that she has a happy and secure childhood. Now, that doesn't mean you have to stop everything else. . . of course you have to have balance . . . but when it's a choice between a good and expensive school for my child, I've gone without new clothes, haircuts, etc., for years in order to provide a good start for her.

Rebecca Gayheart Pregnant!

 

Though a suspicious baby bump has been discussed in the media for months, Rebecca Gayheart and her husband Eric Dane have just now confirmed a pregnancy.

 

Gayheart told In Touch Weekly, "We've always wanted to be parents. I think Eric is going to be a wonderful dad, and hopefully I'll be a good mom. We're absolutely looking forward to it!"

 

Gayheart, 38, added that she's taking good care of herself in anticipation of her first child. "I'm doing yoga, and I'm walking on the beach every day with my dogs for about an hour. I drink lots of water and eat a lot of vegetables and protein."

 

Gayheart made a name for herself in the '90s as the spokesperson for Noxema, and later starred in series 'Dead Like Me' and 'Nip/Tuck.' Dane plays Dr. Mark "McSteamy" Sloan on 'Grey's Anantomy.' The couple married in 2004.

 

Gayheart and Dane were recently involved in a lawsuit concerning a leaked tape that showed the couple in an intimate encounter with another woman. In the video, Dane and his wife appear nude with former beauty queen Kari Ann Peniche. During the video, Dane steps in front of and behind the camera, while filming in Peniche's apartment. Dane and Gayheart took Gawker.com to court, claiming the site unlawfully posted the private video.

 

Still, impending motherhood has redeemed the past few months for Gayheart. "I'm having a great, great time right now and loving my life," she said.
