EDITOR'S ANTICS A REAL HOOT Page SixDID saucy Seventeen editrix Atoosa Rubenstein misbehave at an Armani event just a few months after she fired a staffer for acting inappropriately at a different Armani bash? Spies at the launch of Armani's new Blackcode fragrance a few weeks ago say Rubenstein "teetered into her seat" after apparently having a few drinks at the bar. "When an executive from L'Oreal began to speak about the fragrance launch, Atoosa let out a huge hoot and holler which was met with deafening silence and everyone turning around in their seats," says our snitch, an editor at a rival magazine. "Her behavior was totally insane and embarrassing." Rubenstein's outburst rankled some because, an insider claims, she recently fired a beauty editor for taking off her top at an Armani party where Peter Lindbergh was taking portraits. However, a Seventeen rep says Rubenstein did nothing inappropriate, and suspects our source has ulterior motives. "Atoosa was just cheering on her best friend, Armani exec Serge Jureidini, who was onstage introducing Duran Duran," the rep said. And the beauty editor "left Seventeen ? she wasn't fired."

FASHION FANTASY Page SixAFTER the real models ? Frederique van der Wal, Irina Pantaeva, Nikki Taylor, Janice Dickinson, Pat Cleveland and others ? had finished catwalking for Nicole by Nicole Miller at the Four Seasons Pool Room on Tuesday night, and as the adults were chatting and slurping down cocktails, two pretty little girls climbed up and took turns sashaying down the runway. One was Debbie Bancroft's daughter, Serena. The other was Patricia Duff's daughter, Caleigh, whose dad, Ron Perelman, could turn her into a Revlon model someday. Perelman controls the company.

DESIGNERS ARE LOVERS NO MORE

Page Six

FASHION superstars Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana , who have been sharing both their label and their bed for nearly 20 years, are no longer a couple. "On a professional level we are still together," Dolce told Italian daily Corriere della Sera yesterday, acknowledging their romantic relationship is at an end. "We work together wonderfully well; we have a very strong understanding," he said, adding that Gabbana will always be "the most important person of my life." Dolce, 46, and Gabbana, 42, have both been seeing other men, the paper reports, and now live in separate apartments in the same Milan building. Asked whether they were likely to ever get back together, Gabbana replied, "Never say never, but, really, I don't think so." Gabbana also said his mother was horrified when news that they were lovers as well as business partners was first reported in the press.

Good grief, Dolce & Gabbana broke up!?!?!

NOT WORTH IT?

IT wasn't late-arriving clothes that held up the shows during fashion week in London, but one strapping supermodel. Naomi Campbell is being blamed for the more than one-hour delays at the Julien Macdonald and Gharani Strok shows. Talk was that the leggy stunner just didn't feel like working. "By the time her agent had talked her into coming, everyone had been waiting for her for ages," co-designer Nargess Gharani told the Irish Examiner. "I was thinking that she just wasn't worth the hassle." Campbell's rep, Rob Shuter said, "The incident at London Fashion Week was an isolated incident."

The blond Valkyrie will be in L.A. for Oscar week to meet with top agents hoping to find the next face of St. John. While there are no early front-runners, a spokeswoman said the company is looking for someone who will appeal to current customers and younger women they hope to cultivate.

pagesixsixsix.comLagerfeld is back, and he's ready for global domination. The bitchiest designer on the block, Uncle Karl is ready to propel his latest creation, Lagerfeld Gallery, into the same iconic level as his designs for Chanel."What I like is to be everywhere, to design collections everywhere and to have this kind of ubiquity in every sense of the word," Lagerfeld said yesterday, backstage after his autumn-winter runway show. Finally, a designer who is honest! Wethinks Wendy Pepper should get an internship at Uncler Karls Lagerfeld Gallery. Every good villain needs a henchman!Lagerfeld Gallery was sold to the Tommy Hilfiger Corporation in December. This is the first step in bringing Karl's clothes to the masses, and that includes fat people. Gasp!"We continue to want to run it as a very upscale couture business," said David Dyer, president and CEO of Tommy Hilfiger Corporation. Does this mean we can expect some rhinestone-encrusted jockstraps? Cuz you know, a girl's gotta work it out.

people.comNAMED: The Council of Fashion Designers of America on Monday in New York honored Kate Moss, 31, who often appears nude in photographs, for her fashion sense, reports the Associated Press. Once waifish and so thin she sparked controversy for her look in Calvin Klein's early '90s ads, Moss has graduated in recent years to motherhood and becoming a style-setter for her classically eclectic British look.

SOHO COWPOKES

THE "Brokeback Mountain" gay cowboy craze seems to have inspired Marc Jacobs. The fashion demi-god is throwing a holiday hoedown Wednesday night at Skylight, an event space on Hudson and Spring streets. The spot will be transformed into a veritable dude ranch with hay bales covering the floors and security men dressed as Wild West sheriffs. Jacobs' underlings have reportedly been taking country line-dancing classes in preparation for the down-home soiree.

NY Daily News

There could a doozy of a catfight the next time Karl Lagerfeld crosses paths with Elton John. The Chanel designer viciously disses Elton's beloved Princess Diana in the new issue of New York magazine.

"She was pretty and she was sweet, but she was stupid," declares Lagerfeld, who apparently never heard about not speaking ill of the dead.

He much prefers Prince Charles' new wife. "The public does not know who Camilla is," he tells interviewer Vanessa Grigoriadis. "She is the life of the party! She's sparkling, she's witty, she's ready for everything, and not pretentious, not one bit. If you had to make a choice to live with somebody, this is the one."

Lagerfeld, who's expected in New York for fashion week, might want to steer clear of Lindsay Lohan, who's shooting in town.

The high-collared 67-year-old fashion baron dismisses rumors that the "Mean Girls" star might be the new face of Chanel. "I prefer Nicole Kidman and that generation," Lagerfeld says dryly.

He also won't be inviting Christina Aguilera back for a photo shoot. One member of his team remarks, "She is horrible! She did not even kiss Karl good-bye. She just sticks out her head from the door, 'Bye!'"

Then again, if you see him at Bryant Park, don't try to be too affectionate.

"In the whole world, there is nowhere I can go," the designer says. "In Japan, they touch me. I have Japanese women pinch my a—, so now I must say, 'You can have the photo, but please don't touch me.' You cannot pinch the a— of a man my age!"

And those dark sunglasses of his aren't just for protection from the sun.

"I cannot go out without something for my eyes, because someone might throw chemicals in my face."

Perhaps he's thinking of the animal activists who detest him for his furs.

At a recent Fendi party, a dreadlocked white guy snarled at him, "Blood for money, that's what Karl Lagerfeld wants. Karl is greedy! Karl is evil! Karl is wicked! Karl is … the Devil!"

The designer puckered his lips and replied, "You eat meat and wear leather, so shut up. I have no time for zis foolishness."

NY Daily NewsGatecrasherThe biggest fight at Fashion Week isn't about which supermodel gets to wear the cutest outfit down the runway — it's over the bathrooms. As designers John Varvatos and Kimora Lee Simmons fussed over their collections Friday night, four of the five Porta Pottis flooded, soaking the backstage corridor and causing a long wait for the only available cubicle."Of all the vices in the fashion industry, most of them involve spending a lot of time in the bathroom," joked one cross-legged fashionista, as a line of people checked their watches and tapped their toes.Fashion Week regulars are used to VIP washrooms with fancy fixtures provided by design firm Kohler — a perk noticeably absent this year. There was even an official-looking sticker on the door, bearing the logo of Fashion Week sponsor Olympus, saying: "Bet you wish Kohler was back . . ." Crash courseFeeling left out of the party?Don't. Gate-crashing is half the fun of Fashion Week.Tonight's Marc Jacobs show, traditionally the hottest ticket of the week, is usually the easiest to crash thanks to the sheer vastness of the guest list.Add the element of chaos into the equation — tonight's show has already been delayed due to shoe delivery snafus — and you get the picture. One veteran suggests being on a fake cell-phone call while waving a slip of paper in the same hand you're carrying a large Starbucks cup.The golden rule is: Dress like you belong. You don't have to be in $400 shoes, but make sure your look is more Seventh Ave. than 7 train.

MODEL HUNTERS

MODELS will have to deal with more than the usual bunch of modelizing predators this Fashion Week - the gorgeous creatures are being hunted as part of a "Model Safari" being conducted by Emwold Industries, a downtown production company. Peter Colada, the filmmaker who came up with the quirky idea, told PAGE SIX: "We'll be going around in an all-terrain vehicle during Fashion Week, observing these tall creatures as they gather in groups and feed at their favorite haunts. I can pretty much guarantee my clients will see 10 to 15 live models on the safari." Emwold Industries staged a "Hipster Safari" in 2004, in which an Aussie-accented guide in safari attire captured a trendy "hipster" with a net as he rode over the Williamsburg bridge on a vintage bike. Let's hope the delicate mannequins will be treated with greater care.
