Knowles 'Wears a Wig'

imdb.com

The secret of sexy singer Beyonce Knowles ' immaculate hair has been revealed - she reportedly wears a wig. The Crazy In Love star is always perfectly coiffured, and sometimes dons a hairpiece when she's having a bad hair day. A friend tells British newspaper the Daily Sport , "She wears one sometimes because she has really thick Afro-Caribbean hair and she just can't manage it that well all the time. If there's an option to get better-looking hair then why not? I'm just not sure if she wanted the world to know."

Beyonce Takes Designer Away from Lopez

Wednesday Jul 14, 2004 3:55pm EST

By Stephen M. Silverman

people.com

In what's considered a major Seventh Avenue coup, Beyonce has snagged designer Heather Thomson away from Jennifer Lopez's Sweetface Fashion Company, bring her over to the pop star's own ? and as yet unnamed ? label, reports Women's Wear Daily.

Thomson's credits also include Sean "P. Diddy" Combs's Sean John line, helping the music entrepreneur step into the fashion arena.

J.Lo, whose 3-year-old clothing line is one of the fashion industry's success stories, hired Thomson two years ago for the J.Lo by Jennifer Lopez junior collection.

"Heather went somewhere else to work. ... I wish Heather the best," Andy Hilfiger, Sweetface's cofounder and director (and brother of lifestyle wear designer Tommy Hilfiger) confirmed to Women's Wear, which notes that Beyonce, 22, and J.Lo, who turns 34 on Saturday, have been competing on the airwaves and now stand to face off in the retail arena.

Lopez's two fragrances, Glow and Still, totaled $200 million in sales last year, and recently Beyonce announced her own fragrance line, in which she is partnered with Tommy Hilfiger.

The Beyonce fashion line, which is being developed in partnership with Kids Headquarters (which also handles Timberline and Kenneth Cole, among its labels), is being designed in part by Beyonce's mother, Tina Knowles, who is said to have been responsible for much of her daughter's personal wardrobe.

Beyonce's company had no comment about Thomson.

Beyonce's Bodyguard Breaks Her Toe

imdb.com

R&B superstar Beyonce Knowles has been forced to rest for two weeks - after her bodyguard Shortie accidentally broke her toe. The singer was shopping in New York when Shortie trod on her foot whilst trying to protect her from a crowd of over-excited fans. An onlooker says, "There were some fans on his tail and he was too busy watching them to see where he was putting his feet. Beyonce let out a shriek and hobbled back to her car, wincing in pain. She looked angry at first, but then she burst out laughing because you would have thought she had been shot by the way he was reacting." Beyonce won't be holding a grudge against her minder, however. A friend says, "Beyonce knows that Shortie is there to protect her and she also knows that he will always do his best to be by her side."

How much do you make for 10 days work? Chances are it?s less that BEYONCE KNOWLES . Beyonce earns a whopping $4.7 million from cosmetics giant L'Oreal for only 10 days work a year. The work includes photo shoots and promotional appearances and the only catch is that she must inform them of "any radical changes to her hair that any concert tour may necessitate." The terms of the contract also include maintaining her hair "in excellent condition," and giving L'Oreal permission to inspect her hair as long as she gets two weeks notice.

histar.comNobody can accuse BEYONCE and JAY-Z of cutting corners on their vacation. Their "little" trip to St. Tropez cost them well over $400,000. See, their four-day stay alone set them back $430,000. Then there's the $17,320 a day they spent to rent their yacht. And there's no word how much it cost them to fly in from the States on a private jet.Oh... and for their four-day stay, they packed 22 suitcases!

Speaking of which, there was a picture of her in the 'NY Post' the other day, and her taste in wardrobe, I'd have to say that I was very dissappointed in her. Even though she has a nice figure, she shouldn't have to wear 'next to nothing' just to show her figure.

TOPLESS ON THE TOP FLOOR?November 18, 2004 Provided by: [star Online]Fun-Loving Beyonce Knowles and boyfriend Jay-Z are so serious that they might buy a love nest in Miami's trendy South Beach. Star People's sunsoaked spy says that in late August, the sizzling singers tried out a $7.5 million, three-bedroom penthouse pad at the exclusive Il Villaggio. They are said to have spent the weekend there -- perhaps having a little too much fun. Our source says that some of the other residents, worried by the loud partying, scantily dressed houseguests and what they claim was a topless dip in the pool by Beyonce, asked the real estate agents to kill the deal for fear of what might result if the starry couple moved in for good. Jay-Z's rep had no comment. Beyonce's manager sent us to a publicist, who didn't return calls. The real-estate agent would only say it's close to being sold.-- LESLEY ABRAVANEL

Beyonce Knowles has big plans for her 25th birthday on Sept. 4: She will release her second solo album, B'Day, internationally. It will be released in the U.S. the next day, Billboard reports.

The first single from the CD, "Déja Vu," features a guest appearance by Knowles's longtime squeeze, Jay-Z.

B'Day – for which Knowles co-produced, wrote and arranged all the tracks – will be the successor to the former Destiny's Child singer's 2003 solo debut, Dangerously In Love. That album topped the Billboard 200, won five Grammys and has sold 4.3 million copies in the U.S., according to Nielsen SoundScan.

Knowles completed B'Day after wrapping the movie Dreamgirls, which was warmly received at a preview two weeks ago at the Cannes Film Festival. Set for a Dec. 22 release, the musical costars Jamie Foxx, Eddie Murphy, Danny Glover and Jennifer Hudson.

Speaking to reporters after the preview, Knowles said she had lost 20 lbs. to play the super-svelte Deena Jones, the lead singer of the Dreamettes – a '60s-style group loosely modeled on the Supremes.

"At the beginning (of filming), I was my normal weight," she said. "I actually gained a little bit, but then I lost 20 lbs. when I went from young Deena to old Deena. I wanted it to be something more than just make-up and hair. I wanted to see the change."

Beyonce: I Need a New Band – Fast

Friday Jun 09, 2006 8:05am EST

By Todd Peterson

people.com

Beyonce Knowles needs a little help from her band – but she doesn't have one.

The former Destiny's Child leader is looking for an all-female group to support her on tour for her second album, B'Day, which is due this fall. The catch? She needs musicians as soon as possible, the Associated Press reports.

Knowles is looking for a band to hit the road with her as soon as June 20, her record label said.

Aspiring band members can audition across the country on Monday, in Atlanta, Houston, Chicago, Burbank, Calif., and Weehawken, N.J., but they'd better do their homework first. They'll be expected to play Knowles's "Work It Out" from the Beyonce: Live at Wembley DVD.

B'Day is scheduled for international release on Sept. 4 – Knowles's 25th birthday – but won’t hit U.S. shelves until the following day.

Her debut solo release, 2003's Dangerously in Love, earned the singer five Grammy Awards.

Beyonce — Target of Elaborate Smear Campaign?

RollingStone.com

9.8.06

Usually when Mathew Knowles (Beyonce’s father and sometimes manager) shoots his mouth off we’re kinda like “yeah yeah yeah, please stop talking now.” But we’re starting to wonder if there isn’t something to his seemingly preposterous theory that someone somewhere out there is trying to sabotage the success of Beyonce’s new record, B-Day, which came out this Tuesday.

There was the whole fan-driven outrage regarding the supposed sleaziness of of B’s video for single “Déjà Vu,” then the is-Jay-Z-boning-Rihanna speculation, then the rumor spread that Beyonce actively changed the release schedule for her singles to compete with former Destiny’s Child LeToya’s new record, there was chatter about Beyonce having supposedly fired her dad, and now there’s talk that Beyonce’s record has angered Paramount executives who wanted the Dreamgirls soundtrack to be Ms. Knowles next musical release. Here’s the thing though, all signs point to this record being one of the biggest debuts of the year so far, set to sell more than 600,000 copies in its first week. We’ll know for sure next week, but in the meantime, if a conspiracy is indeed afoot, we have to say the execution was pretty shoddy.

Beyonce's Dad Responds To Online Petition

StereoGum.com

August 24, 2006

Matthew Knowles is pissed. So he's issued this ill-conceived press release:

"It is apparent that there is a consistent plan by some to create chaos around Beyonce's B'Day album release on Sept 5 in the US. First, it was a petition against the single, “Deja Vu”, then a rumor regarding conflict between Beyonce and Rihanna, seizures caused by the "Ring the Alarm" video, putting out a single to compete with LeToya's album and now to add to all the ridiculous rumors, is my plan to postpone the release of her B'Day album. What will be next? Beyonce's cut off all her hair? Dyed it green? Maybe she's singing the songs in reverse with some hidden subliminal message!

Unfortunately what it shows is that anyone can go on the internet and create rumors and the media in some cases will pick up these stories and run with them which influence the consumer’s perception...

Beyonce has sold over a 140 million records as an artist. Over half sold outside of America. 2500 responses for a petition on the internet (which really represents often the same people responding 2-3 times) go online with a petition regarding “Deja V u”, and it's national news? Think about that for a minute. 140 million records sold versus 2500 responses about a video. Does that really equate to a major concern? The answer is No!

I couldn't be happier with where “Deja Vu” is on the charts. It’s a Top 10 song on Billboard 100 and #1 on this week’s R&B charts. Mid week numbers in the UK is trending at #1 for the "Deja Vu" single for this week. Records have broken in Japan regarding ringtone sales of “Deja Vu.” It is one of the most ever streamed videos at Yahoo. “Ring The Alarm” was added to TRL on its first day of airing and it is on the R&B charts this week which gives Beyonce two singles on the charts at the same time.

Our plan is to have three singles on the charts together. For this album we have a unique strategy. Rather than concern ourselves with purely chart positioning we are focusing on the combine audiences who are listening and are aware of the singles on the album. That strategy is based on the combine belief of Beyonce, SonyBMG and Music World. This is unique, creative body of work on B'Day (spelling corrected B'Day) and every song is a potential single.

After all what do we know? Some weeklies reviewed "Independent Women" and gave it a "D-" and Beyonce’s first album “Dangerously in Love,” a "D".

And just for the record, Beyonce’s success or failure for me is not based on the number of records she sells. For me it's based on how proud I am that she is a genuine good person (Ask anyone who's worked with her). That she always has a kind word for others. That she is respectful and honest. That she gives back to her community and that she has so much love for her family. That she has grown to be such a leader. And lastly, she has the confidence not to be bothered by these planned distractions."

Beyoncé Album Hurting "Dreamgirls" Prospects?

TMZ.com, 9.6.06

Paramount Pictures is concerned that the lavish spectacle of their upcoming "Dreamgirls" could be derailed by Beyonce Knowles' relentlessly hyped new album, "B'Day." According to a "knowledgeable" source cited by Lloyd Grove, the studio is worred that Beyonce's supersaturation of the marketplace will overshadow their planned marketing push for "Dreamgirls," which will be released in December and stars Knowles, Jamie Foxx, and a huge raft of other stars.

The real concern, claims Grove's source, is that the critically drubbed "B'Day" will soften expectations for the "Dreamgirls" soundtrack. But Paramount denied the suggestion, saying that "nothing" relating to "B'Day" has changed its promotional push. Still, the insider says that Beyonce put out the album this year, rather than next, because she didn't want it to lose its luster after "Dreamgirls," in which the truly plum female role of Effie White is played by former "American Idol" contestant Jennifer Hudson.

Beyonce’s B’Day a hit

thebosh.com, 9.7.06

Beyonce’s B’Day, is on target to soar past 600k and could approach 650k, based on first-day sales reports from Hits Daily Double's retail reporters around the country.

All that and a $1 million 1959 Rolls Royce from bf Jay-Z makes for a pretty nifty birthday writes Hits

In other news, Beyonce has hit out at suggestions her media drive to promote second album B'DAY is jeopardizing new movie DREAMGIRLS reports Contact Music. The former DESTINY'S CHILD frontwoman stars as DEENA JONES in the highly anticipated musical - which also features JAMIE FOXX and EDDIE MURPHY - but Paramount Pictures producers reportedly fear the public will be fed up with her by the time it's released in December (06). Knowles originally scheduled to launch her record after the movie hit cinemas, but brought it forward to coincide with her birthday this week (04SEP06) and sparked a blaze of publicity. A studio insider tells the New York Daily News, "Beyonce's over saturation in the marketplace has thrown a major monkey wrench in the Dreamgirls rollout campaign. "It will take away from the anticipation of the Dreamgirls soundtrack. She has left Paramount with not a lot of options for rolling out this film." However, her spokesman ALAN NIEROB insists, "I guarantee you that the publicity campaign for the film is in place, and nothing relating to the publicity for her solo album has affected that campaign."

Beyonce Has Love For Her Nigerian Fans

The frontwoman for Destiny's Child had nothing but nice things to say about the audience she received during her stay in Nigeria. The Tide Online reports:

The American super star said she was so impressed that everybody could sing along her music note for note. "I was like in a familiar terrain. The crowd everywhere we went was the same. They were familiar with the lyrics of every song and it was interesting performing before such an audience" she said. Beyonce, who confessed her love for the Nigerian fans said she found the Nigerian fans especially the men very friendly, hospitable and cheerful. "They are nice, the men are real African brothers, she added. "I was shown lots of respect and admiration by the men and it was nice".

I want Nigerian fans. But I don't want them to be respectful. I much prefer rowdy fans. Especially the guys. I mean, they're the whole reason I got into this blogging thing to begin with. Cause you know all the blogger girls get the hot guys.

Beyonce has blamed her hectic work schedule for her slip up last week at the "BBC Chart Show Live" event, when she mistakenly thought she was in the British capital instead of the seaside resort of Brighton. Knowles' upset local residents when she expressed her delight at being "back in London" but quickly apologized when she was informed of her mistake. She says, "Before I was in England, I was home for maybe four days. "Before that, I was in Australia; before that, I was in China, before that, I was in Africa, so my body was very confused. "I don't know where I am. I just lost track of where I was-it happens. That fact that it said BBC everywhere really confused me. "Usually, when I'm in London, that's where I do my thing, and I saw the letters and thought, 'OK, I'm in London."
