LOS ANGELES (Hollywood Reporter) - Rapper Chris "Ludacris" Bridges, who has the No. 1 album in the country, has joined Vince Vaughn in the cast of the Christmas comedy "Fred Claus."

The Warner Bros. project stars Vaughn as Santa's loser brother living in New York who returns home to the North Pole and almost ruins Christmas. Ludacris will play an angry elf.

Paul Giamatti, Kevin Spacey, John Michael Higgins and Elizabeth Banks also are in the cast. It will be directed by David Dobkin, who previously worked with Vaughn in "The Wedding Crashers."

Ludacris' "Release Therapy" debuted atop the Billboard 200 and the R&B/hip-hop charts Wednesday, selling 309,000 copies.

Actingwise, Ludacris was part of the ensemble cast of "Crash" and received a SAG Award for outstanding performance by a cast in a motion picture. He appeared in "Hustle & Flow" and on TV's "Law & Order: SVU." He recently did voice work for an episode of "The Boondocks" on Cartoon Network's Adult Swim.

Ludacris' Label Stays With Def Jam

Rapper Ludacris will keep his Disturbing Tha Peace music label after singing a new contract with parent company Def Jam Records.

The hip-hop star - real name Chris Bridges - has reached an agreement with the music industry giant to extend his label's current deal and keep the imprint running.

The move comes after weeks of speculation that all of Ludacris' artists were to be dropped from Def Jam's roster.

But Def Jam Records chairman Antonio 'L.A.' Reid insists the rumors are unfounded and he is delighted to keep the label going.

He says, "Ludacris has built Disturbing Tha Peace into one of the iconic names in hip-hop, one that will remain an important part of the Island Def Jam family."

Ludacris co-founded Disturbing Tha Peace in 2000 with his manager Chaka Zulu when the rapper failed to land a record deal. It is now home to artists including Bobby Valentino and Steph Jones, Chingy, Playaz Circle and Shareffa.

Ludacris Teams With Ciara to Raise Money for AIDS

Thursday April 17, 2008

Ludacris and Ciara are joining forces to raise money for AIDS research.

On April 24, the rapper will host a $100-a-plate benefit at his new restaurant, Straits, in Atlanta.

Afterwards, he and R&B singer Ciara will hit the Ralph Lauren store for an exclusive shopping event at Atltana’s Lenox Square Mall.

Athough Ludacris has been swamped recording a new album, he tells Usmagazine.com, "I’m happy to take one day out of my busy schedule to handle my other responsibilities.

“I want to touch the people before I get back on the music grind, and this is a way for me to do just that," he adds. "The community and making a difference will always be a part of my life, and I wouldn't have it any other way.”

Last year, his fundraiser raised more than $200,000 for the Ludacris Foundation.

Ludacris Stays On Top Of His Taxes

Rapper LUDACRIS has vowed never to fall foul of America's Internal Revenue Service (IRS) because he always stays on top of his taxes.

Hip-hop stars including Nas, Snoop Dogg and Method Man have all been named and shamed as tax dodgers - but the Stand Up hitmaker, real name Christopher Bridges, insists he has no intention of adding his name to that list.

He tells Fuse TV, "I pay more in taxes than most people would ever imagine. I guarantee you, you will never hear about Ludacris owing the damn IRS no damn money (sic)."

Nas reportedly owes $3.4 million (£2.1 million) in taxes, while Snoop Dogg is alleged to owe almost $600,000 (£375,000).

Method Man failed to file income tax returns for three years from 2004, leading to the Wu-Tang Clan star being arrested and charged with tax evasion in New York last year (09).
