Biggest takeaway is the four major network dramas are done. No show nominations and only a couple of acting noms. Shocked that Empire wasn't nominated.

Interesting to see a internet show nominated for a major award. Has that happened before?

Both "House of Cards" and OITNB were nominated for quite a few Emmys last year. Uzo Aduba won, but IIRC she was in the best guest actress category.

My gut feeling is that if any headway will be made this year for the internet shows, it will come via "Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt." The industry LURVES Tina Fey. They also tend to overcompensate on awarding shows like "Mad Men" that have permanently ended, which will make it very tough for "House of Cards" or OITNB since they are also considered dramas this year.

Watching Today Show this morning (perk of working from home ;-) and Carson Daly commenting that they did do some tweaks to the categories this year. The Two Ferns internet show was nominated too - that's a pure internet show, unlike Netflix or Amazon, so I think that's really new/different.

Since I can't stream video at home, I keep hoping that the growth of online programming will spur networks/cable to make decent shows again.

And that someone, somewhere, will take pity on those of us in the boonies who cannot access their programming.....

I'm so use to thinking Netflix and Amazon are like normal TV i didn't clarify. The Louis CK special nominated can only be seen on his website, That is what I meant.

Forgetting you cannot get Netflix well, Hoya. I can see where this trend is disappointing for you...

7:30 - hour and a half of red carpet - my favorite so far is Sarah Hyland. So modern, love the off the shoulder iteration from Zac POsen!

(you need to see all the angles on this one!)

Wow, Claire Danes looks better than I think I've liked her in years!

I cannot imagine how hot the chains on her (and Taraji P Henson) dress are!

Rob Lowe doesn't effing age! I want his genes, and his dermatologist & plastic surgeon's numbers! God, I had his St Elmo's Fire poster (the saxophone!) on my wall in high school, and I swear he looks the same.

And yes, I have his new show - The Grinder - set to record next week!

I have to catch up on TiVo tonight!! I watched my 9 month old niece and 3 year old nephew for an overnight slumber party at my house on Saturday. I fell asleep before the award show on Sunday nite.

Viola Davis looked amazing - her lipcolor - OMG. And her speech was amazing. But everyone is talking about what she said - I wanted to highlight that I loved her look!

Lainey's site had an interesting article re: Amy Poehler, but I'm not sure I understand the Hilary comparison. Can someone clarify?

http://www.laineygossip.com/Amy-Poehler-and-Aubrey-Plaza-at-the-67th-Annual-Emmy-Awards/40691

I think what they were saying is that the Emmy voters see Amy Poehler ONLY as the person who does Hillary on SNL and are blind to all her other achievements, making her somehow less worthy of their vote....

Oh, right - that makes sense. I had totally forgotten she "did" her - I was trying to come up with all these comparisons between their careers, etc., which wasn't too easy ;-)

I think another point Sarah (is that who wrote the article on Lainey's site?) was trying to make (or maybe I am inferring way too much) is that Tina Fey might have been Sarah Palin, but somehow we don't *just* see her in that role - she won Emmys for 30 Rock (writing and acting, right? And I think the show won as well, and she was EP - I think they said she had 7 Emmys which sounds about right)

They both are fabulous comedians, great writers, great actors - so why does Tina get the awards and not Amy? Really interesting (and sort of sad) to ponder these questions. I've enjoyed Lainey's site's coverage of award shows because they do delve into these issues, not just the best/worst dressed and who gave a shocking speech.

Fashion Police recorded last night, I'll try to watch while making dinner tonight. I know I won't agree with their choices.....
