Shows you just started watching (aka binge confessions)

Recommended Posts

I admit it, I finally started watching Game of Thrones. Started off watching the first few, now I'm watching 1 or 2 episodes a night. Just started Season 3. I want a baby dragon.

Still haven't caved to Game of Thrones. Did actually start watching Ep 1 of True Blood (on Amazon Prime at work a couple weeks ago) but had to do something else and didn't finish (yet....) Because I can't stream, I can't really binge. I did do the Netflix free month last December at work and watched the Gilmore Girls revival, The Crown, and the first two seasons of Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt.....

Oh, and every time I fly Delta, I get another ep of Big Little Lies in - I'm up to Ep 4 now ;-)

I haven't been able to binge anything, really. Working too hard. Grr. But I am trying to finish up Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt! Then I will start S3 of the Crown! My husband has started watching a couple dystopian scifi shows on netflix (we upgraded our internet a few months ago - when they released their 2nd satellite! so we could stream more at home - AND we just got a new tv for the living room that we finally hooked up to the internet. Welcome to 2020, the Hoya Household :-) Anyway, spouse is enjoying Altered Carbon (I've seen a couple episodes - it's dark & violent - not really my thing - but pretty good. Can't remember name of other show he started watching) And together we're watching Dead To Me - just have the finale left. I think it was renewed but who knows when a 2nd season would appear -I don't think it's been filmed, so.....

I just finished Tiger King - it was crazy!  Carole totally fed her husband to the tigers.  And Joe with the power of meth, can make straight young men marry him.

It’s kind of a communal experience during quarantine at this point. Are you even in isolation if you haven’t watched Tiger King?

I’m taping the Michael Jordan documentary on ESPN to watch with my son. I’m not a huge basketball fan because I grew up in a town with huge football, baseball, hockey teams but no basketball. My son is 19 though, and a huge sports fan, and he’s never seen Michale Jordan be Michael Jordan, so I thought it was something we could do together. We like documentary series. My husband and daughter are not at all interested though.

1)Being native North Carolinian (seriously all four branches of my family were here in the late 1600s early 1700s)

 2)  I remember staying up late to watch UNC and Jordan win the 1982 NCAA title - I was in fourth grade and it was big deal I was up that late.  ** Side note ** State won in 1983 greatest comeback story ever - come at me ?

3) The man, myth, legend comes and buys our beloved NBA team and returns the original name

Jordan is Royalty for me.   I don’t even like Carolina (sorry Hoya).   Every year while we went from class to class just to watch the ACC tourney, every teacher would give his history - from not making Varsity his freshman year, to all of his triumphs as a Chicago Bull.

I will watch it with my girls - just for them to realize how big he really is.   They just know him as a pair of shoes ?

Meh - I hate college basketball! (and, I will *always* be a Hoya more than a Heel -  I don't even have a degree from Carolina - and I work at the other end of Tobacco Road ;-) But I am not a Coach K fan either. So I'm basketball agnostic. I've heard the Jordan documentary is totally amazing.

So SyFy channel is re-airing Xena Warrior Princess from the beginning and I am recording them! Husband and I used to watch when we were dating (late 90s) but I didn't see all the episodes. Watched the first episode this morning during coffee, which I think we'll be doing for the foreseeable future. Xena, or Below Deck (one of the few "reality" shows I enjoy - I just pretend it's a travel show)

I loved Xena Warrior Princess back in the day. I have very fond memories of watching it.

I hate all sports. I'm weird like that. But I would love to see the Michael Jordan documentary because I do like a lot of documentaries. The OJ Simpson one ESPN did was one of the best documentaries I've seem. I'll have to wait until it comes to a streaming service because we cut the cord and no longer have to pay for ESPN as part of our cable package.

Agreed, why I decided to watch it.  Finished yesterday.  Those people are bat shit nuts.  Glad TK is off the streets.  As for Carol's husband?  Not so sure she actually fed him to the tigers (although she for sure took advantage of the fact he disappeared).

OK, I finally finished Kimmy Schmidt (except the new interactive "movie").  I am only 2 episodes in to the Crown S3.

Non-streaming, I'm finishing up the first season of Zooey's Extraordinary Playlist and I really love it. A good balance of drama & comedy for me, with lots of good singing.

Husband told me last night I am recording WAY too much tv. Add in streaming and yeah, it's a mess ;-) But I've always been a tv addict - fortunately, I can have the tv on while I work - most projects - it doesn't really distract me.

Please, if you care for me at all, do NOT give me any new recommendations!!!

MAD PROPS to Lauren Graham. She's an ok singer - but holy shit, she's goes up against RENEE ELISE GOLDSBERRY and holds her own. GIRL has charisma & confidence!

[I go back and forth in the original Hamilton which vocal performance I like the best - it usually comes down to Renee or Lamar Odom.....]

I haven't watched the documentary yet but I've listened to two podcasts dedicated to his case as well as individual episodes of other podcasts that have discussed it. It is very horrifying. Not only what he did to the girls directly but how the law enforcement and legal system allowed him to get away with it even after he was caught.

I have been binge watching The Handmaiden's Tale on Hulu for about 2 weeks now.  I'm about half way thru Season 3.  I'm horrified, but I can't stop watching.

This popped up in my news feed today and I'm like "OMG - it's happening!!"

I need the "wow" emoji as a response to posts! I don't have Hulu and haven't watched Handmaiden's Tale. Read the book and the original movie - that's enough for me. But it's probably one of the books that got me so interested in fertility research/demography! (which I don't do now and haven't for ages but I'll always be interested in fertility rates!)

We stopped watching Dead To Me about half way into season 2. Just couldn't muster enthusiasm for it. oh well. I am getting better at dropping stuff I don't like instead of just finishing to finish.....

I read The Handmaid’s Tale and loved it. I watched the first season of the show and liked it too. I think it’s one of the better adaptations of a book, though the book is still better.

Speaking of book adaptations, my husband and I have been watching His Dark Materials on HBO because I loved the books and the show came highly recommended, but neither of us is impressed by it. The pacing is off and I hate nearly every change they’ve made to the story. The show has created so many plot holes that don’t exist in the books. Also, Lin Manuel Miranda is horribly miscast as Lee Scoresby, IMO. I’ve heard it’s better than the movie version but I’ve never seen the movie so I can’t comment.

Next we’re going to watch Watchmen. I read the comic book just before the movie came out (though I never ended up watching it) but I don’t remember anything about the story or characters now.
