Momsen Glad She's Not Hannah Montana

TAYLOR MOMSEN is relieved she lost the role of HANNAH MONTANA to MILEY CYRUS - because she would have struggled to live up to the teen idol ideal.

The Gossip Girl star was just nine years old when she and Cyrus were selected as two of the final three young actresses in the running for the Disney role.

But now that she's living the rock 'n' roll life with her band The Pretty Reckless‎, Momsen is grateful she was cut from the auditions for the family-friendly programme.

Momsen explains, "Honestly, if I'd have ended up as Hannah Montana, I don't know if the show would have gone as well. I probably would have told them all to go f**k themselves by the time I hit 11. And I don't know how that would have gone down. It's great for Miley, but I really like where I am right now and I feel really fortunate to be able to really be myself."

And after receiving plenty of internet criticism for her revealing fashion choices, the 16 year old has warned mothers not to let their children look up to her.

She adds, "Online, there's a thousand people who are just so mean. There are so many negative comments about just the pettiest things that you can't even read it... My favourite blogs are where you get the mothers saying, 'She's the worst influence on my daughter, I would never let my daughter dress like that', or, 'This girl's such a whore, she's a slut'. And I'm, like, you're a mother! And I'm 16...

"To be honest, I don't f**king care. I didn't get into this to be a role model. So I'm sorry if I'm influencing your kids in a way that you don't like, but I can't be responsible for their actions. I don't care."

Miley Cyrus gives Poison star a boost

Miley Cyrus has given rocker-turned-reality TV star Bret Michaels a big career boost by agreeing to appear on his upcoming solo album.

Cyrus asked the Poison star to join her in the studio for her reworking of the band's classic "Every Rose Has Its Thorn," and Michael's used the opportunity to play the teen pop star a bunch of new tracks.

The "Climb" singer fell in love with one of the tunes, "Nothing to Lose," and asked if she could perform with the rocker on the track.

Michaels tells Billboard.com, "When we were in the studio, I said, 'Do you want to hear some of my new tracks?' She said 'I'd love to,' and I played her 'Nothing to Lose' and she fell in love with it and said she'd love to sing on the song. I was like, 'That'd be killer!'"

And the rocker admits he was impressed with Cyrus' Stevie Nicks-style vocals: "One of her heroes is Stevie Nicks. I produced and recorded Stevie before, so I said, 'OK, let's take that approach...' She ended up having a great time doing it."

"Nothing to Lose" will appear on Michaels' upcoming "Custom Built" album.

I think that the bust of this gown is hideous! (Although at least it is more than covering her teenage ladybits this time)

I told my husband I thought she looked like a 40 yr old divorcee who smoked too much.....

She's definitely not getting better looking. Normally I wouldn't rag on a teen but this one just begs for it. On the red carpet, she kept saying "people need to take a chill pill". I can't wait till she finds out what happens to teen stars who lose their popularity.

I don't see her boozing it up so much, but I wouldn't cross out a reality show in her future. Or Playboy. You never know, maybe there is a sex tape in her future.

I see her heading down the same trail that LiLo has so nobly blazed. The similarities are pretty eerie, down to the creepy/clueless parents and the "old" younger sister.

she needs to square her shoulders and stop slouching.

My daughter occasionally watches H.M. and if I'm on a nearby computer I can see it out of the corner of my eye. I certainly wouldn't claim that HM was anything other than bad, but then most of the TV on in the afternoons, even on cable, is utterly ghastly and potentially an even a worse an influence on my daughter than HM so I don't really discourage her. She watches no more than about an hour a day of tv anyway.

Oh yeah, my point. Even out of the corner of my eye, an increasing awareness of the slouching has been seeping into my consciousness. By now it's become very annoying. Is she taller than everyone else in the HM case except daddums and is trying to compensate? Does she have early-onset scoliosis? A self-image issue?

As bad as it has gotten on the show, it is painfully more obvious when she wears Red Carpet type gowns - especially of the shoulder-less variety.

I really don't mean to be mocking her for this, as much as it may seem so from my natural writing style. I want her to be aware of it so she can do something about it. Scoliosis can be treated and if she just eschews the strapless gowns that'll be a help right there.

Kelly Preston Moved By Miley

Kelly Preston was "moved" to be asked to star in a film with Miley Cyrus.

The actress returned to work last summer - six months after the death of her 16-year-old son Jett Travolta, who passed away after suffering a seizure - to make 'The Last Song' following a personal request by the 'Hannah Montana' star.

Kelly - who is married to actor John Travolta - said: "I agreed because Miley asked me herself to play her mom. I was really moved. It was the perfect movie to sort of get my feet wet."

The 47-year-old star was regularly accompanied to the film set by her nine-year-old daughter Ella Bleu and was delighted with the way she was treated by cast and crew.

She told People magazine: "Julie Anne Robinson, the director, Adam Shankman, the producer and Miley took such great care of me. They were wonderful with my schedule. I just worked a little bit."

Miley Cyrus' Mother Loves Liam

The 17-year-old actress fell for Australian actor Liam Hemsworth when they starred together in new movie 'The Last Song' and the 'Hannah Montana' star admits she initially didn't want to date the 19-year-old hunk because he is "too pretty".

She said: "I don't know who had a bigger crush on him at the beginning, my mom or me. I was like, 'No, maybe he's just too pretty. I don't want to be with someone who's better looking than me. That's like awkward.' "

Liam has also spoken about how the pair gradually became closer during shooting - on which Miley's mother Tish was the executive producer - because they were "each other's only friend".

He said: "We spent a lot of time together. We're shooting together every day and together on weekends and we were kind of each other's only friends down there. We just got really close. We enjoyed being around each other."

While the pair got to act out their feelings for one another on screen, Liam was always cautious if they had any kissing scenes because Miley's family were often on set.

He told Entertainment Tonight: "Her mom was watching. Her grandma was also watching, which was really funny.

"She was on set everyday and she'd be right at the monitor with the headphones on. She should have been directing the film. She knew more about it than anyone. Intimacy's always tough. I feel like it's the hardest thing for me as an actor."

Miley Cyrus urges the media to be kinder in the wake of celebrity deaths

Miley Cyrus hopes the deaths of Brittany Murphy, Casey Johnson, and Corey Haim prompt the media to be nicer to Hollywood stars and socialites.

The pop star and actress has spoken out about the pressures of fame on young stars, and blames the tabloids for making their lives a misery.

She tells HollyScoop.com, "If anyone looks at those situations, maybe people would stop being so mean to people that (sic) are in this business... because, if something does happen, it's just another story to sell. People should learn to be respectful and realize that love makes the world go round.

"It's not your job to sell another stupid magazine for a story that is going to be over in five minutes."

Cyrus insists she avoids the tabloids altogether - and never reads what they print about her and her famous friends: "I just live under my own little rock. I don't really read things or get out often... I'm not the most social human being. I just try to ignore everyone."

Miley Cyrus Thinks She Should be on Medication

MILEY Cyrus says she’d probably be on some form of “crazy medication” if she was still at high school.

The Hannah Montana star, 17, admits her high energy has often been mistaken for ADD or ADHD.

“When I was in middle school I was told I might have one of those and if I were in high school now they would most likely tell me I do have one or both of those and put me on some sort of crazy medication,” Miley told Parade magazine.

“When I was eight years old, people were going, ‘Oh, my God. She’s crazy! What’s she going to be like when she’s 17?’

“Well I’m 17 now and I’m doing pretty well for whatever it is that I am.”

“I hate being thought of as a product,” she adds. “I am not a doll, and people want to treat me that way.

“They say, ‘Now this is what we need to do to your makeup, and this is what I want you to wear,’ and I’m like, ‘Dude, I choose.’ When I was 12, that was okay. But I’m older now. I have an opinion. I have my own taste.”

Cyrus Defends Pole Dance Routine

MILEY CYRUS has defended her decision to include a raunchy pole dance in her performance at last year's (09) Teen Choice Awards - insisting the sexy routine was "right for the song".

The 17 year old caused controversy when she took to the stage in a revealing outfit at the Los Angeles ceremony and danced to Party in the USA on top of an ice-cream cart, gyrating against a stripper's prop.

But the Disney star is adamant the incident was blown out of proportion by critics - because her saucy antics aren't as bad as "what 90 per cent of high schoolers are really up to."

She tells Parade magazine, "My impulse is to say, ‘Get off my case...' My job first is to entertain and do what I love, and if you don’t like it, then change the channel. I’m not forcing you to watch me. I’m not forcing you to talk about me.

"I would do that pole dance a thousand times again, because it was right for the song and that performance. If you think dancing on top of an ice-cream cart with a pole is bad, then go check what 90 per cent of the high schoolers are really up to. It’s funny. I don’t know if a lot of parents remember what they were like as kids."

Miley Cyrus not a fan of country music

Miley Cyrus is not a fan of dad Billy Ray's back catalog -- she is "scared" of country music.

The "Hannah Montana" star's father achieved international fame with his 1992 single "Achy Breaky Heart," which was a chart hit around the world.

But his daughter isn't a fan of the country genre. She has branded it "contrived" and insists the music makes her "nervous."

She tells Parade, "It scares me. ... It feels contrived on so many levels. Unless you're wearing a cowboy hat and cowboy boots and singing and whining about your girlfriend or boyfriend leaving you it's not going to sell.

"I think that's why my dad finally got out of it. You have to wear those cowboy boots and be sweet as pie. It makes me nervous, the politics of it all."

I don't care what anyone says. I like Miley. I like that she's got a bit of the ole rebel in her, and gives just enough of the middle finger to us "grown-ups" to maintain her "teen-ness", but not so much that she's just a straight up bitch.

Country music is contrived but what she does isn't? Please. girl, grow up

(caveat that Billy Ray is country pop, which IS just as contrived as any other version of pop....)

Miley Cyrus to quit music after next album

Miley Cyrus has promised to turn her back on music for good and concentrate on movies - insisting she's "done" with pop once her next album is released in June.

The singer/actress shot to international stardom playing schoolgirl-turned-secret pop star Hannah Montana, landing the part when she was just 12 years old.

She announced last year she only has one season of the hit Disney show left, admitting she feels "claustrophobic" because she has "grown out of" the role.

And it's not only her teen show she has outgrown - the star wants to leave the music industry for good and become a fully fledged Hollywood actress.

On the red carpet for her new film "The Last Song," Cyrus told reporters, "I've got a record coming out in June and then I'm done. I just want to work in movies. That's what I like and that's what I want to be doing."

Cyrus, daughter of country star Billy Ray Cyrus, has released three albums to date: "Meet Miley Cyrus," "Breakout," and "The Time of Our Lives." Her fourth and final record is titled "I Can't Be Tamed."

Liam Hemsworth: 'I love Miley's family'

Aussie actor Liam Hemsworth is a big fan of the Cyrus family - insisting he gets on great with girlfriend Miley's parents.

The "Hannah Montana" star fell for her hunky co-star while shooting their new film "The Last Song" in 2009.

Last month, Hemsworth, who Cyrus has branded her first love, took the singer/actress on a trip to Australia to show her his hometown and introduce her to the family - and she proved a hit.

And Hemsworth insists he also feels at home with the Cyrus clan, telling People.com, "Their whole family's great. They've always been super friendly to me and very welcoming.

"I love their family. Her parents are great, they're very friendly people."

I've read she's got 4 movies lined up. The first movie starts shooting in July and Demi Moore is one of her co-stars.
