Skater boi, move over: Punk-pop star Avril Lavigne is engaged to Sum 41 frontman Deryck Whibley, her Web site confirmed Tuesday.

"We can officially confirm that Avril and Deryck are in fact engaged!!!" the statement on her site reads. "Avril and Deryck are very excited and they want to thank all of their fans for their best wishes."

Lavigne, 20, and Whibley, 25, who are both Canadian, have been dating since last summer. The pair sparked engagement rumors as far back as last September, when Lavigne was spotted showing off a large ring to partygoers at the Spider Club in Los Angeles.

On Monday night, Lavigne was sporting a ring as she and Whibley walked out of Hollywood's Chi nightclub together.

Lavigne, whose hits include "Complicated" and "Sk8er Boi," kicks off the North American leg of her current tour on July 12 in Ontario, Canada. Her latest album, Under My Skin, has sold 2.6 million copies, according to Nielsen SoundScan.

Whibley's band just wrapped up its North American Go Chuck Yourself Tour and will play dates in Europe before returning to the U.S. to open up for Motley Crue on its Carnival of Sin Tour next month.

Page SixAVRIL GOES GLAMERSATZ punk rocker Avril Lavigne has morphed into a genuine hottie - at least in next month's Harper's Bazaar. The fashion glossy transformed the sour-faced, tie-and-camouflage queen into a modern-day lady (think Sienna Miller) with a little help from Chanel and Gucci. "I'm starting to feel more feminine. I'm getting into hair and makeup and image," the excited 20-year-old singer tells the mag, which calls her temporary new look "Twiggy for the 2000s." Sadly, guys, she's taken: Her 25-year-old fiancé, Deryck Whibley, of bubble-gum punksters Sum 41, recently gifted her a 5-carat rock.

rosiedemarioAvril Lavigne has put her Toronto house up for sale -- and has slashed the asking price. The Toronto Star was contacted by Lavigne's real estate agent in hopes of stirring media attention around the pop singer's home."I thought there might be some interest in the fact that Avril Lavigne has put her Cabbagetown home on the market," Michael DeAngelis of Royal LePage Partners wrote to the Star. "There will be an open house there this Saturday afternoon."Lavigne, 21, had been asking $618,000 for the Regent Park house. After 50 days on the market, the price has been chopped to $599,000.The Star describes the 2,400 square foot home as "oddly suburban for such a rock-and-roll girl — sectional sofas, glass coffee tables, a china cabinet in the dining room and a big-screen television that dwarfs the fireplace in the living room. Little, white hand towels on rings grace the bathroom; an unfinished pine chest sits at the foot of the bed in the master bedroom."It is believed that Lavigne has ditched her Canadian home for a place in Los Angeles with fiance Deryck Whibley of the rock band Sum 41. Avril Lavigne wed Sum 41 frontman Deryck Whibley on Saturday afternoon at a private estate in Montecito, Calif., a source confirms to PEOPLE.

At the outdoor, non-denominational ceremony, Lavigne was walked down the aisle by her father, John, to Mendelssohn's "Wedding March." She wore a Vera Wang gown and carried a bouquet of white roses.

The couple said their vows under an awning decorated with white flowers in front of 110 guests, including family and friends from their native Ontario.

Once the groom had kissed the bride, guests tossed rose petals at the newlyweds as they walked back up the aisle.

After the wedding, guests were treated to an outdoor cocktail hour before the reception, including a sit-down dinner, under a tent on the estate. In contrast to the all-white ceremony, the reception had a red theme, with centerpieces of red roses and other flowers.

The couple's first dance was to the Goo Goo Dolls' "Iris."

Lavigne, 21, and Whibley, 26, have been together for two years, and became engaged in Venice, Italy, in June 2005, while Lavigne was on the last leg of her European tour.

In late 2004 Lavigne started sporting a small pink heart-shaped tattoo with the letter "D" on her right wrist, supposedly for her guitarist-singer-lyricist beau.

When Whibley was spotted wearing a silver band on his left ring finger earlier this year, he shot down rumors that the pair had already tied the knot, telling Teen People, "I've been practicing (playing guitar) with it. … It's fun to mess with the press."

The bride has been especially busy these past few months. Besides preparing for the wedding and giving voice to a possum in the animated film Over the Hedge, Lavigne has a third album in the works. (Her first two albums were 2002's Grammy-nominated Let Go and 2004's Under My Skin.)

Of her new album, she told PEOPLE in May, "there's going to be some love songs on there. That's what I feel, so that's what I'm going to end up writing."

Spit Decision

AVRIL Lavigne is eating crow after spitting in paparazzi's faces last week. The wild child and her hubby, Derek Whibley, were caught on camera spitting at TMZ cameramen. Late on Friday - probably after someone pointed out to her that shooting gobs on people was illegal and wasn't good for her image - Lavigne issued a release saying, "I'd like to sincerely apologize for my behavior with the paparazzi. It's trying at best dealing with their insistent intrusions. I meant no offense to my fans, whose relationship I truly value."

SIMPLY THE 'BEST'

After a brisk morning walk, Avril Lavigne works up an appetite for lunch in Bel Air, Calif., on Wednesday. The singer, who's working on an album due out in April, tentatively titled The Best Damn Thing, recently posted this tidbit about her new CD on her blog: "It is really fast, fun, young, bratty, aggressive, confident, cocky in a playful way – all the good stuff."
