  1. OOoohhhh, nice scoop. I'm guessing that the actual announcement will be off by a few months so that it's not 5 years on the dot = divorce. So maybe Jan/Feb of next year?? I'm not sure, princess. I'm thinking they might re-up for a few more years. Tom really needs a wife to beard for the mini-van majority, and I also wonder if he will start getting antsy for an Oscar again... (Actually, I think he should have won for Born on the Fourth of July.)
  2. The whole family is here in Pittsburgh while Tom films a movie. Katie and Suri have been papped multiple times, including trick or treating in the rain with Conor, but without Tom.

That's a shame. I always thought she was pretty sharp--funny. It's too bad if she's going down the drain.

I smell an "I was misquoted/taken out of context/talking about another John" retraction coming from Carrie Fisher in 3.... 2..... 1.....

there was a fire in my building :(

Hoya, I'm sorry this happened to you! You may be eligible for professional cleaning either under the building's policy, the fire victim's homeowner's insurance, or your own homeowner's/renter's insurance. First check with your building's staff. When my mom had a fire in her townhouse, she got all her furniture, clothes, rugs, everything cleaned. Otherwise you may be dealing with the soot and the smoky smell for a long long time!!

    Tom Cruise

Horrendous, right? Although her voice is not bad. The dancing? Why does she keep DANCING? PLEASE STOP DANCING KATIE! I think in these days of Britney, Gaga, JLO and Beyonce, this very old-fashioned style of dancing just looks awkward and wrong. I mean, I know it goes with the song, but then, maybe, SING ANOTHER SONG DAMNIT! I just don't get it.

Poll: Will Sandy and Jesse Divorce?

Sandra Bullock Shockers! Adopted a Son, Divorcing Jesse James Today 6:36 AM PDT by BREANNE L. HELDMAN People.com Sandra Bullock hasn't just become an Oscar winner in 2010. She's also become a mom, Hollywood's unofficial best secret-keeper and, sadly, a divorcee. The actress reveals her latest titles in the cover story of the new issue of People, on newsstands Friday. The front of the weekly shows her beaming with her new adopted son, Louis Bardot Bullock, and the confession that she and Jesse James are heading for divorce. The adorable tot is 3 and 1/2 months old and the result of a four-year adoption process inspired by James' daughter Sunny. Louis was born in New Orleans, brought home quietly in January and named after Louis Armstrong because his proud mom heard "What a Wonderful World" in her head the moment she laid eyes on him. "The first time I met Louis, it was like the whole outside world got quiet," she says. "It was like he had always been a part of our lives." The timing—smack in the middle of awards season—was less than ideal, so the family agreed to keep the new addition out of the headlines until after Bullock picked up her haul of statuettes. "I did not want him brought into a world that would not have been too sincere to him as I wanted," she claims. "I wanted to be alone with him as long as I could, then we had to tell his story." But, it turns out, Bullock will be raising Louis alone, she also confessed. She'll be finalizing the adoption as a single parent. After the shocking revelation that her husband had been cheating on her, Bullock took her son and left the house as quickly as possible, "before the vultures descend." "Yes, I have filed for divorce," she says. "I am sad and I am scared." James will remain in Louis' life, however. "I really don't know how our paths will intersect in the future, but the father I have known Jesse to be…is one that I hope Louis can experience one day, no matter how Jesse and I go on with our lives," she admits. James echoes some of those thoughts—as well as hope for reconciliation—in a statement he released to People. "I know in my heart that I can be the best father possible to my four children and the mate Sandy deserves, and realize that this is an incredible mountain to climb," he says. "But I believe the steps I have taken in the last 30 days are the foundation to making this happen." Larry Hackett, managing editor of People, told the Today show that it was Bullock herself who came to them with the desire to share her big news. He said that, as far as her feelings about Jesse go, "there's no anger. There's sadness, obviously." "Maybe I needed this to happen so I could be the best mother to Louis," Bullock says. "We wouldn't know the sweet moments in life unless we had the pain. And painfully, I'm going to miss so much." Nicolas Cage

Nobody Wants Nic Cage's Bel Air Home by Deidre Woollard (RSS feed) Apr 7th 2010 at 10:02PM www.luxist.com We've know for years that Nicolas Cage's house in the Bel Air area of Los Angeles was a hard sell. After all we've seen the home linger on the market since 2007 going from a high of $35 million to $17.5 million in 2009. Cage, whose money troubles have already cost him most of his other real estate, was set to lose his Tudor-style home at an auction on April 7. It was up for auction with several other foreclosed properties at the county courthouse in Pomona. The LA Times reports that the bidding opened at $10.4 million. There were no takers and it was all over in a flash with ownership going back to the foreclosing lender, one of six that have queued up to get their share of the $18 million owed on the house. Why can't Cage unload this one? He bought the home in 1998 from Tom Jones for $6.469 million and it was also owned by Dean Martin. The vintage Tudor is classic old Hollywood but Cage's tastes which run toward the baroque and bizarre may have thrown off some buyers. A tour shot by Everett Fenton Gidley reveals comic books framed on the wall in the dining room and a massive amethyst geode dominating another room. The core bones of the seven-bedroom home are great and it is on over an acre of land with a pool but the pervasive air of wackiness may have worked against it. TMZ reports that Cage lost more than just the Bel Air house on Wednesday. He also owned two adjacent properties in the hills of Malibu which represented hundreds of acres total. Both of those properties were being auctioned for a minimum of $10 million but with no takers they were also surrendered to the lenders. Cage, who also saw both his New Orleans homes go back to the bank, has sued his former business manager, Samuel J. Levin, claiming that Levin mismanaged Cage's funds and left him destitute. In return Levin has countersued saying that Cage was a binge spender. For photo tour: go to: http://www.363copadeoro.com/

    Michael Douglas & Catherine Zeta-Jones

Sit DOWN Zeta Laineygossip.com March 23, 2010 Catherine Zeta Jones has been working on Broadway, keeping a low profile, and as mentioned last week, rarely seen publicly with Michael Douglas. Zeta is 40 now. It's a sh-tty reality in Hollywood that that's usually when roles dry up for women. Unless of course it's Meryl Streep. Zeta has made a string of terrible movies. Her new movie is called The Rebound. I haven't seen it but going from the trailer it doesn't seem like she's breaking that streak any time soon. Also...Zeta claims she's 40. Which is younger than Jennifer Aniston. Really? But that's not all. In a new interview with OK! Magazine, Zeta also insists she doesn't diet. She also sees herself as a "broad" girl. What??? Indeed. She uses the word "broad": “I find this wave of super-skinny women scary. I’m not going to lie to you, I’ve got to drag myself down to the gym like everybody else. But I look at the red carpet sometimes and it’s like a pageant. I’m quite a broad girl, not at all delicate. I watch what I eat to stay in shape, but I’m against diets. I eat when I’m hungry, three meals a day.” Zeta is THIN. She's even thin for Posh. So no. There is no "broad" happening here. What there is is another dumbass fronting like she actually eats. Please. This is Zeta in NY the other day looking super "broad". Sit your "40" year old ass DOWN.

    Garth Brooks

Pop & Hiss THE L.A. TIMES MUSIC BLOG Garth Brooks bypasses glitz and shows genius in Vegas December 13, 2009 | 11:04 am Every showroom owner in town here has to be kicking himself or herself after Garth Brooks' return to public performance over the weekend. "You mean instead of pumping 12 gazillion dollars into a blowout production," they're surely asking today, "I could have packed them in to see a middle-aged guy in a hoodie sweatshirt, baggy jeans, work boots, a baseball cap" -- a promotional one at that -- "and one guitar?" There's real genius at work on a couple of fronts in Brooks' new gig, not the least of which is how utterly anti-Vegas it is. It's got not an ounce of glitz, and that's the selling point: just Brooks -- the top-selling solo act in pop music history -- up close and very personal in the intimate 1,500-seat Encore Theatre at Steve Wynn's namesake hotel and casino. On the business side, that also translates into pure profit -- after, of course, subtracting the 12 gazillion dollars Wynn undoubtedly is paying Brooks to spend 15 weekends a year at his place for the next five years, if all goes according to plan. At Saturday's late show, the freshly unretired 47-year-old country superstar noted that he'd been in Memphis that day watching one of his daughters play soccer in a championship playoff game, after which he hopped aboard the private jet Wynn threw in to get him to his nighttime gig about 1,400 miles away. "I can have it all," he told the audience through a broad Cheshire Cat grin. That means while continuing to attend to the demands of his three daughters' school and extracurricular activities, he still gets "to do what I think God put me down here to do. . . . Thank you, Steve, for letting me get to live this way." Absent the spit, polish, shine and special effects that typify entertainment in Vegas, Brooks' show gives fans more than they could dream of, down to taking requests -- for his own and others' songs -- and openly exploring the genesis of those he did write, jumping with apparent spontaneity wherever the moment takes him. That began Saturday with the traditional country foundation he traced to his father, acknowledged in snippets of songs by George Strait and Merle Haggard, to the '60s and '70s rock that's also strongly influenced his music: Cat Stevens, James Taylor, Billy Joel, Jim Croce and, heaven help us, Dave ("Please Come To Boston") Loggins. So after a few verses and choruses of a song from each of various heroes, he segued into "The River," his 1991 song -- written with Victoria Shaw -- that exhibits more of the folk rockers' introspective philosophizing than the country icons' penchant for lyrics that snap. It's a canny strategy that for better (mostly) or worse (sporadically) plays to Vegas crowds' appetite for hits, regardless of who they belong to, as well as Brooks' genuine desire to dissect his own music. The danger is that as time goes on, the formula could devolve into karaoke night with Garth. But his obvious enthusiasm for live performance surmounted that hurdle Saturday, and presumably his schedule of only four shows per sporadic weekend will prevent him from falling into rote regurgitation. At his October news conference announcing the deal with Wynn, Brooks said he might bring along a guest every now and then. On Saturday, not surprisingly, it was his wife, singer Trisha Yearwood. They collaborated magnetically on their hit "In Another's Eyes," then he acted as though he had to cajole her into singing "Walkaway Joe," her hit duet with Don Henley. He grimaced at a couple of clams he hit while accompanying her on guitar; she shot him exasperated glances without dropping a beat in the song, the happy couple flirting with taking over as a modern day Sonny and Cher. Do we really believe it was as much of a struggle as Brooks let on to honor requests for deep catalog material such as "Mr. Midnight"? Given the occasional flub, he was nothing if not sincere. When one woman shouted for "The Change," he briefly fiddled with his guitar before conceding, "No, I can't play it" -- then set the instrument aside and delivered a couple of verses a cappella. Country music may now be dominated by younger, hunkier stars like Kenny Chesney and Keith Urban, but there's still nobody who works a crowd like Brooks. Now that he's back on the job, it's obvious he intends to let no fan walk out of one of his shows with anything remotely approaching a discouraging word. "Guys," he said to the crowd about 90 minutes into a set that eventually ran well past the two-hour mark, "I have missed this." Garth, the feeling's mutual. -- Randy Lewis

    Oprah Winfrey

NOVEMBER 19, 2009, 6:30 PM Oprah Winfrey to End Her Talk Show The New York Times By BRIAN STELTER AND BILL CARTER The media mogul Oprah Winfrey will end her daytime talk show, “The Oprah Winfrey Show,” in 2011 as she prepares to start a cable channel of her own. Larry Downing/Reuters Oprah Winfrey will end her talk show in 2011. A spokeswoman for Ms. Winfrey’s production company, Harpo, confirmed Thursday evening that Ms. Winfrey would make an announcement on her show on Friday. The plans were first reported by WABC, the ABC station in New York City. “The sun will set on the Oprah show as its 25th season draws to a close on Sept. 9, 2011,” Tim Bennett, the president of Harpo, said in a message to affiliates. After her broadcast talk show winds down, Ms. Winfrey will concentrate on her coming cable channel, OWN: The Oprah Winfrey Network. OWN will have its premiere in January 2011, according to a person with knowledge of Ms. Winfrey’s decision who insisted on anonymity. Ms. Winfrey, 55, informed her talk show staff of her decision on Thursday afternoon. The television world had expected that she would make a decision about the fate of her program by the end of the year. Ms. Winfrey told her staffers that she will not transfer the show to cable. She is expected to produce new programs for OWN, and may appear on some of them. In a statement, CBS Television Distribution said, “We have the greatest respect for Oprah and wish her nothing but the best in her future endeavors. We know that anything she turns her hand to will be a great success. We look forward to working with her for the next several years, and hopefully afterwards as well.” OWN is a joint venture between her production company and Discovery Communications. Getting the channel off the ground has proved challenging amid management turnover and an uncertain advertising climate. The timeline for OWN will theoretically give Ms. Winfrey about nine months to promote her cable channel on her existing show. Sometimes called the Queen of Talk, Forbes estimates Ms. Winfrey’s net worth to be $2.7 billion. “The Oprah Winfrey Show” is the most successful talk show in syndication, reaching about seven million viewers a day. It has been vital to the success of ABC, whose local station group has been the primary home of the show since it started in syndication in 1986.

    Stock Market

Actually, your stock should be sound over the long term. WHen a company files for bankruptcy protection, it gives them a change to reorganize their business and their debts, and gets the creditors off their backs, so they can be more profitable. When a company emerges from bankruptcy, it can turn around if it has good leadership and a good business plan.
