Television 2016-2017

Recommended Posts

So what are you guys watching this season? I'll try some new sitcoms, whatever CBS is throwing up on Mon & Thurs nights with Big Bang and 2 broke Girls. Will try the new MacGyver. Great Indoors, because, Joel McHale.

I'm going to have to check into a hotel or work some weekends and get a trial Netflix account so I can watch the Gilmore Girls "revival" episodes (I don't have enough data to stream at home - satellite internet in the boonies)

TVLine has the schedules & premier dates as well as they ran overviews for the new shows too http://tvline.com/2016/05/16/fall-tv-schedule-2016-fox-network-abc-primetime-cbs-shows/

Nothing has grabbed me yet, but I haven't been paying much attention to the new shows that will premier this fall.

Hoya - travel 2.5 hours down my way for Gilmore Girls. My daughter and I are already planning the binge day for it?

Honestly haven't seen anything that turns my head. I have Dish and I set it for prime time anytime, so we get them all. I usually poke through them. That is how I found Blackish and my daughters found Fresh Off the Boat.

My 12 year old daughter and I have been watching GG. We started (happy coincidence) just before they announced the reboot and are half way through season 7 now. We really wanted them to stagger the release, but oh well.

Conviction & Timeless are at the same time as Scorpion (which we already watch). I had planned to record Conviction. Should I try to do them all???

I've checked out This is Us, The Good Place, have set the DVR for Speechless. I was initially planning to try Timeless but it doesn't start until next month and I've been seeing some crappy reviews. This is Us was interesting, I'll definitely watch it a few more times. I love the cast, and even though it's a little hokey, it's just a nice show. The Good Place was a little out there, but because I like the people involved I'll stick with it a while. Any other people have opinions?

I'm liking this is us and I really didn't expect to. Secrets and lies feels like a whole new show since it's pretty much a new cast and I'm loving it. Speechless is great too.

This is Us is good....for now...as long as it doesn't get all wishy-washy like Parenthood became. Designated Survivor is still a maybe, Secrets and Lies gets a thumbs up (Michael Ealy is some nice eye candy), Quarry is very good so far, recorded Westworld last night but haven't watched it yet, Lethal Weapon is a maybe, AHS has been good so far. There's other new stuff coming before long. Fear the Walking Dead may be dead for me though...I just can't seem to care about anything to do with these people. I thought I'd love the show since TWD is a favorite, but nope.

TWD is back on the 23rd (yay) and for those who like PBS shows, a new one I'm going to check out is slated to start on the 16th: /http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/masterpiece/programs/series/durrells-corfu-s1/

ETA: watched Westworld. Wow, if that first episode is anything to go by this could be a new favorite. We really liked it!

I recorded Versailles on Ovation Saturday night - love a costume drama so I'm excited to watch!

This is Us - have only seen premier and liked, though I fear it will become a "Hoya Only" show, as Parenthood before it. My husband does not like the hour long dramas (normally I don't either, but....I did love Parenthood ;-)

Have some other new stuff recorded that we haven't watched yet - Good Place. Speechless seemed pretty good.

Did anyone watch Luke Cage on Netflix? I don't have the data to watch (goddamn country living), but it's so on my list!!! The showrunner is a classmate of mine from high school, I'm so excited for him - the reviews have been EXCELLENT.

Watched Timeless with my 12 and 15 year old and they absolutely loved it. I like that there's a lot of history and its family friendly, so I'll probably stick with this one for a while for their sake.

Watched the pilot of MacGyver last night. My favorite of the new shows so far! I like my action with fun & sass (and I miss Alias & Buffy, so....) Doesn't hurt my mom and I used to LOVE the original MacGyver. Husband also enjoyed - definitely a keeper for us!

Have Timeless and Conviction recorded, so we'll see ;-)

2016-17 TV Season: Renewed and Canceled

by IMDb-Editors | last updated - 1 day ago

IMDb is keeping track of which scripted series are renewed and canceled. Read on to learn the fates of your favorite shows.

http://www.imdb.com/tv/fall-tv-renewed-canceled-and-on-the-bubble/ls063853872?linkId=32714829

The ones I found interesting:

Canceled: "Reign" :tantrum:

Announced: Dec. 7, 2016

The upcoming fourth season of the CW's historical fantasy series, set to return Feb. 2017, will be its last.

Renewed: "Z Nation" :jumping1:

Announced: Nov. 29, 2016

Syfy ordered up a fourth season of the zombie series.

Renewed: "The Walking Dead" :jumping1:

Announced: Oct. 16, 2016

AMC renewed "The Walking Dead" for a 16-episode Season 8 a week before its Season 7 premiere. TWD is the most-watched show on television in the advertiser-friendly Adults 18 to 49 demographic, making its renewal a foregone conclusion. Season 8 will launch in late 2017. The network also picked up another season of aftershow "Talking Dead."

Canceled: "Sex&Drugs&Rock&Roll" :tantrum:

Announced: Sept. 9, 2016

FX canceled "Sex&Drugs&Rock&Roll" after two seasons. The finale garnered 450,000 Total Viewers on Sept. 1. The show starred Denis Leary as a former rock star who is desperate to make a comeback.

Canceled: "Mistresses"

Announced: Sept. 9, 2016

ABC canceled drama "Mistresses" after four seasons. The show was a summer staple for the network but its Nielsen ratings declined after the departure of the show's original star, Alyssa Milano. The Season 4 finale was watched by 2.6 million Total Viewers in Nielsen Live + Same Day Ratings, down from around 4 million viewers that the show averaged during Season 1. Unfortunately for the fans, Season 4 ended with a cliffhanger that will never be resolved.

Canceled: "Devious Maids"

Announced: Sept. 1, 2016

Lifetime canceled "Devious Maids" after four seasons. The fourth season averaged 900,000 Total Viewers, about twice as many as Lifetime's other scripted series "UnReal," which was renewed. Allegedly, the network decided that "Devious Maids" was not a good fit for Lifetime's new mandate to develop more hip, edgy programming.

I'm watching. Oddly interesting entertainment. I would say loosely based on midget and his ex. The creep factor Michael Vartan brings to the religious leader is pretty good.
