dixiedoodah 1,003 Report post Posted September 24, 2014 We have so many readers in this forum, I almost put this in the literature folder. Is anyone watching Outlander on Starz? What do you think?
Hihomumio 168 Report post Posted September 24, 2014 I am. Jury is still out for me. The show makes me think of a romantic novel (haven't read the books) and I'm not sure that's my cup of tea for a tv series. This last episode with all the yapping and sex was boring to me...I really like things to move along more than what I'm seeing so far.
fykeylicious 1,099 Report post Posted September 24, 2014 I am watching it, except I seem to be perpetually one week behind, no matter how hard I try to keep up. Some thoughts: - I am finding Jamie way hotter than I initially predicted I would - I am finding Randall way hotter than I am comfortable with - The whipping scene nauseated me; I got all woozy - Claire is perfect Not exactly groundbreaking observations
dixiedoodah 1,003 Report post Posted September 24, 2014 I've been reading these books for almost 17 years and I do love them. But some people are really heavily invested in every single thing being the same. I follow Diana Gabaldons FB feed and the commenters are insane. Hs hair isn't red enough, it's not long enough, the pearls are the wrong kind of pearls, he said thus now, he doesn't say that til next week. Having been through the adaptation of true blood, I'm happy the story is recognizable.
Hihomumio 168 Report post Posted September 24, 2014 Not that I've ever purposely done it one way or the other, but I'm happy that for the most part I don't read the books that tv shows are based off of. A lot of people can't move past that notion that it must be exactly as it was in the books. I never have to deal with those expectations and I think that allows me to enjoy the show more. princess 1,712 Report post Posted September 24, 2014 I don't watch the show and have not read the books, but wow this show was popular at Comic Con San Diego this year!
Hoyaheel 1,874 Report post Posted September 25, 2014 I love the books, have been reading them from the beginning, but have not yet seen the show. I don't have Starz. I think my mom has them recorded or on demand so at some point in the next couple months I'll probably go to her house and have a marathon watching them with her (she's been watching). I normally am able to separate my love for a book and a tv or movie version. We'll see how well I do with this one..... (I am currently re-reading all the books before starting the new one that came out over the summer - I meant to do it earlier in the year to be prepared for the release but, um, didn't quite get there....I'm almost done with my re-read of book 5, so who knows how long before I get to the new one - they keep getting longer ;-)
