Housekeeper charged with stealing from Hollywood stars A housekeeper whose client list included actor Robert De Niro and other A-list celebrities has been arrested and charged with stealing jewellery and designer clothes from her famous employers.Although the Manhattan District Attorney's office refused Wednesday to identify the victims, press reports said they included De Niro and actresses Isabella Rossellini and Candice Bergen. The housekeeper, Lucyna Turyk-Wawrynowicz, 35, was arraigned in criminal court on Tuesday on charges of grand larceny, possession of stolen property and 16 counts of forgery.According to the criminal complaint, Turyk-Wawrynowicz stole a pair of diamond earrings, valued at 95,000 dollars from the wife of one victim, identified in the press as De Niro.Turyk-Wawrynowicz reportedly began working for the actor's wife, Grace Hightower, back in May. Shortly afterwards, the couple noted items disappearing from their luxury home overlooking Central Park.Police arrested Turyk-Wawrynowicz on Monday, following a raid on her home in Queens where they recovered a host of stolen property. The forgery counts relate to the defendant's alleged use of another employer's credit card to charge 16 items purchased at the New York department store Barney's in 2001.A third celebrity victim accused Turyk-Wawrynowicz of stealing a suede jacket and other items from her home. When confronted, the housekeeper allegedly threatened blackmail."If you have me arrested, I will go to the press and tell them the reason I was fired and accused of these crimes is because your husband sexually harassed me and I refused his advances," the complaint quoted her as saying.Turyk-Wawrynowicz's next court appearance was scheduled for Friday.http://sg.news.yahoo.com/050622/1/3t3zr.html

De Niro's Former Maid Pleads Not GuiltyJuly 29, 2005 "Meet the Fockers" set box office records and is one of the more recent reminders of why New Yorker Robert De Niro is a Tinseltown titan with a track record that spans three decades. Meanwhile, the classy Candice Bergen, who now stars in "Boston Legal," won five Emmy Awards for "Murphy Brown." But in the real world, both actors are starring in a case that puts the Hollywood heavy hitters against their former hired help. Lucyna Turyk-Wawrynowicz showed up for her arraignment in Manhattan superior court in shackles. A grand jury indicted De Niro's former maid on 24 counts for stealing from him, Bergen and others. One count of grand larceny and one count of criminal possession of stolen property are connected to De Niro's wife, Grace Hightower. A previous criminal complaint listed the property as a pair of $95,000 earrings. De Niro's former maid is also facing three more counts of grand larceny, related to alleged crimes against Candice Bergen, Renee Rockefeller and the upscale Barney's New York store. Turyk-Wawrynowicz also got hit with 18 counts of forgery and another one for coercion. But despite the serious allegations detailed in the document, the Polish immigrant's attorney entered a plea of not guilty. In the hallway outside of the courtroom, the defense attorney told "CJ" that they'd file a motion to suppress all the evidence taken from his client's house in Queens because he says the N.Y.P.D searched the house without a warrant. Turyk-Wawrynowicz will be back in court in late August.

De Niro Can't Get Staff

Hollywood veteran Robert De Niro allegedly is facing a domestic headache

after firing his household staff -- because no one wants to be their

replacements.

The actor is at loose ends after reports his fiery wife, Grace Hightower,

intimidates staff have spread to employment agencies.

A source tells Page Six, "Everyone loves Bob -- it's the wife that drives

everyone crazy."

De Niro dismissed his domestics after former maid Lucyna Turyk-Wawrynowicz

allegedly stole $100,000 worth of his wife's jewelry.

She later blamed Hightower's "mean" nature for provoking her actions,

prompting the revered actor to sack the rest of his employees, too.

Page Six reports, "De Niro sat down his longtime butler Frederick and told

him his services were no longer needed. No explanation was given, and

Frederick was sent away with two months severance."

A similar fate befell his sons' nanny, but the Hollywood couple has yet to

find replacements.

Maid for Celebs Jailed on New Indictment By SAMUEL MAULL, Associated Press Writer

Fri Oct 7, 6:25 PM ET

NEW YORK - A housekeeper, already indicted on charges of stealing valuables from her celebrity employers, was jailed on $50,000 bail Friday on a new indictment that charges her with stealing the identity of a 13-year-old girl.

Lucyna Turyk-Wawrynowicz, 35, of Queens, pleaded not guilty at her arraignment in Manhattan's State Supreme Court on forgery and identity theft charges. She faces up to seven years in prison on each charge if convicted.

Handcuffed and weeping, Turyk-Wawrynowicz was led out of court after Justice Brenda Soloff told her she could post the $50,000 bail as cash or bond. Her next court date was set for Oct. 11.

The housekeeper, who worked for several of the city's rich and famous, was indicted in June on 27 counts related to alleged thefts from employers who included Robert DeNiro, Candice Bergen, Isabella Rossellini and Renee Rockefeller. She pleaded not guilty to those charges and was released on $75,000 bail.

Assistant District Attorney Anne Schwartz said Turyk-Wawrynowicz was indicted anew after the prosecutor looked over the housekeeper's job applications in connection with the June indictment. Schwartz said the housekeeper was using two Social Security numbers and two resident alien work card numbers.

Schwartz said she learned that one Social Security number used by Turyk-Wawrynowicz, a Polish native who entered this country illegally, belonged to a 13-year-old girl. Schwartz said she also learned the housekeeper had been using the child's Social Security number since 2000, when the child was 8.

"She created this house of cards of identity theft and fraudulent documents," Schwartz told Soloff.

Frank Mainiero, the defendant's lawyer, called the new case against his client a "vendetta" because of the celebrities involved. He asked the judge to release Turyk-Wawrynowicz without additional bail.

ROBERT DE NIRO WAS REALLY WAITING FOR BANANARAMA

British girlband BANANARAMA were left in shock when Hollywood icon ROBERT DE

NIRO asked to meet them after they released their hit single ROBERT DE

NIRO'S WAITING in 1984.

The SHY BOY hitmakers were so nervous about seeing RAGING BULL actor De Niro

in the flesh, they sank several drinks at a bar before being taken to spend

time with the screen legend.

Singer KAREN WOODWARD says, "Actors don't do it for me. Robert De Niro rang

and asked us out once. We said yes, but we were very shy and had to get

slightly drunk before we met him."

SARA DALLIN adds, "The De Niro story seems so unlikely, but it happened. I

don't know which of us he fancied!"

(Pagesix.com)TRIBECA'S WAKE-UP CALL THE noisy construction of Robert De Niro's TriBeCa hotel is driving his neighbors downright batty. One riled resident of North Moore Street called PAGE SIX to complain that workers regularly operate jackhammers starting at 5:30 a.m. "None of us can sleep," she tells us. "The whole neighborhood is up in arms. The city tells them to stop, and they stop, and as soon as the city leaves, they start right up again. This has been going on for months." De Niro and partner Ira Drukier are building the $43 million hotel at the corner of Greenwich and North Moore. Our sleep-deprived source is convinced the early-morning racket has got to be annoying celebrity neighbors like Ed Burns and Christy Turlington, Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen and Damon Dash. She says she has been calling De Niro's office "like a lunatic" complaining about the noise — to no avail. "They just tell me to call 311," she sighed. A spokesman for De Niro declined to comment.

One, I love how they say he "will not act". Um, if it's 'reality', they're not suppose to act, right? Two, the idea is "secret: and "simple" . . . . Shall we begin a list of speculations?A variety of strolls down the streets of Manhattan including one that just happen to highlight where his restaurant is located?A few lessons and suggestions by local city officials in how to deal with pissed off neighbors?A few demonstrations by real-live mobsters such as how to build cement shoes?

De Niro To Buy NYC Paper? Actor Robert De Niro is reportedly taking his love of current affairs to the max - he is planning to buy The New York Observer newspaper. De Niro, along with film producer Jane Rosenthal and her husband, Craig Hatkoff, are meeting with newspaper mogul Arthur Carter to discuss the purchase of his publication, according to the New York Post. The high-powered threesome first got together to launch the TriBeCa Film Centre and Festival in 1990, and are now hoping to work their magic on the highbrow Manhattan weekly. No More Nobu for De Niro? Oscar-winner Robert De Niro may be looking to cash out his stake in celebrity sushi chain Nobu according to press reports in the US. The actor teamed up with famed sushi chef Nobuyuki Matsuhisa to open sixteen locations of the posh eatery in cities such as South Beach, Florida, Malibu, California, Tokyo, Japan and Las Vegas, Nevada. Owners of the celebrity hot spot have been meeting with executives from chain companies such as Starwood Hotels and PF Chang's to help finance even further expansion. A source tells New York magazine part of the thinking between the partners is, "They've had a great run, and it wouldn't be such a bad idea to cash out." The company is estimated to be worth $250 million and De Niro is said to own approximately 30 per cent. Drew Nieporent, one of Nobu's original partners, claims he is unaware of any definite plans to sell saying, "I'm sure there have been discussions about some stuff, but there's a lot of generic stuff out there. It's possible."

Movin' On Up

Page Six

October 16, 2006 -- ROBERT De Niro has not only closed on the purchase of Harvey Weinstein's ex-wife's apartment on Central Park West, but has also gotten a fancy, gas-guzzling car to park in front of the plush new digs. The Post's Braden Keil reports that De Niro's wife, Grace Hightower, gave him a new $328,000 Rolls-Royce Phantom right after he handed over a $21 million check for the 15-room duplex, which originally had a $25 million price tag. No doubt he'll use the savings on the apartment to keep his tank filled. Neither De Niro nor his broker, G. Laurie Cooper, could be reached for comment.

De Niro, 50 Cent star in Katrina thriller

Robert De Niro and rapper 50 Cent are in final negotiations to co-star in "New Orleans," a police thriller set against the backdrop of Hurricane Katrina.

The indie film (previously titled "Microwave Park") centers on a cop (De Niro) who thinks his partner was killed by the storm, only to discover that he was shot to death. When he gets a new partner (50 Cent), the pair investigate the murder, taking them on a journey into a world of police corruption.

The project was originally set in Los Angeles but changed to New Orleans after the Katrina disaster. Production is tentatively scheduled to begin in the city in February. Tim Hunter is directing for Millennium Films.

De Niro returns to theaters in December with the spy thriller "The Good Shepherd," which he also directed. 50 Cent starred last year in the autobiographical feature "Get Rich Or Die Tryin'."

DeNiro and 50 Cent Finally Team Up

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the plot revolves around a cop (DeNiro) who thinks his partner died in Hurricane Katrina, only to discover that the partner was actually shot to death (which doesn't necessarily mean he didn't die in Hurricane Katrina, but that's neither here nor there). With his new partner (Mr. Cent), he begins to investigate the crime.

Tim Hunter ("River's Edge") is set to direct. Previously titled "Microwave Park" (and set in Los Angeles), the drama is tentatively set to begin production in February.

Missing from the big screen since "Hide and Seek," DeNiro's next film is "The Good Shepherd, which he directed.

Jackson has "Home of the Brave" coming out later this fall.

De Niro a VoteFella in Hil run

BY DAVID SALTONSTALL

DAILY NEWS SENIOR CORRESPONDENT

You votin' for me?

U.S. Sen. Hillary Clinton has added some muscle to her campaign team: Robert De Niro.

The tough-guy actor is urging New Yorkers to vote for Clinton in a prerecorded telephone message that is blanketing the state. But for those who may like the softer touch, the former First Lady has someone else, crooner Tony Bennett, whose mellifluous voice is also gracing answering machines all over the state on herbehalf.

"Some people think I left my heart in San Francisco, but it really is right here in New York. That's why I'm promoting Hillary," Bennett says.

De Niro, the star of such New York-based film classics as "Taxi Driver" and "GoodFellas," boasts that Clinton "took on the Bush administration" to keep a Dubai-owned company from managing the city's ports and has worked to boost homeland security funds.

"New York is my state and Hillary Clinton is my senator," said De Niro, an apparent riff on TV ads in which he refers to American Express as "my card."

Next up for Clinton - Paul Newman, the blue-eyed actor and philanthropist, whose message should be debuting soon.

The celebrity telephone messages are the latest examples of what's known in the business as "robo-calls" - prerecorded messages from politicians or celebrities aimed at boosting turnout for a candidate or cause.

They interrupt your dinner, draw quizzical looks from children who pick up the phone and fill up your answering machine while you're away.

Campaign operatives insist they are an effective and cheap way - each call typically costs 3 to 5 cents - to reach a targeted group of likely voters.

And because they are deemed a "protected" form of political speech, they cannot be blocked like telemarketing calls.

Independent experts are divided on whether the calls motivate voters to do anything - other than maybe slam down the receiver in annoyance.

"The general finding is that themore personal a contact is,the more effective it is," said Prof. Donald Green of Yale University's Institution for Social and Policy Studies, which has studied robo-calls extensively. "And robo-calls are, by their very nature, impersonal."

Former Mayor Ed Koch conceded that while most voters seem to appreciate his many calls over the years, one voter did track him down at his office to demand - in decidedly colorful language - that he never call him again.

"I told him, 'Be assured, I won't!'" said Koch. "I'd like to think that people who alert other people about an election should be praised, not assailed."
