Snoop Dogg

Recommended Posts

Boston HeraldArriving an hour and a half late, a joint-puffing Snoop Dogg turned a meet and greet at a Salisbury (MA) club into a classless act when he slipped out the back door, ignoring his fans and making away with their cash, the promoter said.      ``I hate him now,'' said Charlie Daly, one VIP guest of a 300-plus crowd that gathered at Boston Waves for a WAAF-FM-sponsored concert. ``I will never, ever buy another record. He can make all the movies he wants. I will not go. I guess he's cutting a CD right now, and I hope to God nobody buys it. He doesn't deserve to have fans.''      After his performance at the Tweeter Center with Linkin Park as part of the Projekt Revolution Tour, Snoop Dogg showed up at Boston Waves just before midnight Thursday. The first thing he did was to go in the back room and light up a joint, said Revere promoter Fred Balboni.      ``He went into the VIP area and the next thing I know, I see smoke coming out of there, but it wasn't a cigarette,'' Balboni said.      It was unclear whether police saw Snoop light up, but several cops staffed for security gathered on stage to keep the actor/musician in plain view, which forced him into a private dressing room.      Paid for the night, Snoop slipped out the back door, snubbing the fans, some of whom paid $25 a ticket while others paid $99 for VIP status.

Snoop Released Without Charge Rapper Snoop Dogg was released from a London police station yesterday evening after he escaped charges over a brawl in the city's Heathrow Airport. The hip-hop star and five members of his 30-strong entourage were arrested on Wednesday on suspicion of affray and violent disorder when a fight broke out in Terminal 1's British Airways business lounge. According to reports, the star's entourage reacted angrily when they were turned away from the First Class lounge, where they were hoping to wait before boarding a flight to Johannesburg, South Africa. During the incident, seven police officers were injured. After spending nearly 24 hours in police custody, Snoop - real name Calvin Broadus - was released on bail from Heathrow police station, but was forced to cancel his Thursday performance at the Freedom Day celebrations in South Africa. The rapper's attorney Peter Binning says, "Snoop has been released on bail. He will return at a later date." Meanwhile, British Airways have banned the rapper and his associates from flying on the airline. A BA spokeswoman explains, "Given the nature of the disturbance they have been banned from traveling with BA for the foreseeable future."

Snoop Faces Music in Airport Brawl E! Online Snoop Dogg has returned to London with his tail between his legs. The rapper racked up more frequent-flier miles--presumably not on British Airways--as he flew to Britain Wednesday to meet with police concerning his arrest at Heathrow Airport last month. The "Beautiful" rapper powwowed with Metropolitan Police to learn the outcome of their investigation and whether any legal action would be taken against him as a result of an airport melee that left seven officers injured. Snoop and five members of his posse were arrested at the London hub Apr. 26 on suspicion of "violent disorder and affray"--a fancy way to say "throwing down"--after getting into a brawl with police and airport staff. The 34-year-old performer and his entourage were reportedly denied entry into British Airways' first-class lounge, as only three of his 30-strong posse held first-class tickets. The group refused to retire to the more plebeian business-class lounge and instead headed to the terminal's duty-free shop, where they allegedly began running amok, hurling whiskey bottles around the store, looting cigarettes and booze and causing what's generally referred to as "a scene." Police were called in after receiving reports of the disturbance, and upon their arrival, according to several published reports of the incident, one of Snoop's bodyguards went "berserk" and began attacking the uniformed men. The rapper and his associates, who were on their way to Johannesburg to kick off a South African concert series, were arrested and held in custody overnight with the requirement that they return to face any potential sentences. While there's no word yet on what punishment, if any, the Bobbies will slap Snoop with, British Airways has already issued its own verdict: The rapper has been banned from all future flights operated by the airline. "This kind of behavior is not tolerated," an airline spokesman said after the incident. They weren't kidding. "We are making sure none of this group will be allowed to travel with BA ever again. They are banned from now on." No word on whether Snoop's five associates who were also arrested returned to the precinct with the rapper. The men were also ordered to return this month to face further inquiry.

Snoop Dogg Pleads Innocent to Weapon Charge

WEDNESDAY JANUARY 24, 2007 02:15 AM EST

By Ken Lee

Snoop Dogg pleaded not guilty Wednesday in an Orange County, Calif., court to a felony charge of knowingly possessing a dangerous weapon.

His attorney, Donald Etra, entered the plea on his behalf. If convicted, the rapper faces up to three years in prison.

On Sept. 27, Snoop, whose real name is Calvin Broadus, tried to board a plane at John Wayne Airport in Santa Ana, Calif., while carrying a 20-inch collapsible baton in a computer bag.

It is one of many non-lethal weapons that are illegal in California.

"The reason we're pursuing this as a felony is because of Mr. Broadus's criminal history, and his apparent and continued disregard for the law," said Orange County District Attorney spokeswoman Susan Schroeder.

"Snoop's not guilty plea says it all," Etra tells PEOPLE. "The item he's charged with was a movie prop, not a weapon. Snoop never intended it to be used as anything other than a prop."

The rapper's next hearing on the matter is slated for April 5.

Snoop, 35, has a another case currently under review with the L.A. district attorney's office: On Oct. 26, he was arrested in Burbank, Calif., at Bob Hope Airport after police found a handgun and marijuana in his car. He was freed on $35,000 bond.

Because he is a convicted felon since a 1990 cocaine trafficking bust, he is forbidden from possessing firearms for the rest of his life.

On Nov. 28, police detained Snoop and his entourage as they were leaving the Burbank studio where the Tonight Show with Jay Leno is filmed, and simultaneously executed a search warrant on his L.A. home and vehicles.

This led to the discovery of another handgun, more marijuana, cocaine and a false compartment in his vehicle. Snoop was arrested again, posted bail for $60,000 and was released that night.

The Los Angeles District Attorney has yet to file formal charges stemming from the latter two arrests.

Snoop Dogg Escapes Jail Term

Hip-hop star Snoop Dogg has escaped a jail term after he pleaded no contest to charges of sale or transportation of marijuana and possession of a gun. The rapper, real name Calvin Broadus, was given a three years suspended sentence and handed five years of probation by a Californian court yesterday. He will also perform 900 hours of community service - although he can serve half of the hours working with the youth American football team that he owns. Broadus was arrested last year after police found a gun and marijuana in his car after it parked too long in a passenger loading area at Burbank airport. His lawyer Donald Etra says, "He recognizes the severity of this. He recognizes he got a great a deal and he fully intends to make sure nothing prohibits him from keeping his part of the bargain." This isn't the first time the rapper has faced the wrong end of the law - he already has a 1990 felony conviction for possession of drugs for sale. Last November, Broadus was charged with possession of a deadly weapon after he was caught carrying a collapsible baton through airport security, and in March he was arrested in Stockholm, Sweden for suspected narcotics use.

A SOCIALITE'S LIFE

Snoop Dogg's Take On The Imus/Rutgers Basketball Situation

Snoop Dogg breaks it down for us .

Snoop frequently refers to women as "b**ches" and "hos" in his music, but he insists Imus' use of the term was unacceptable and the 66-year-old DJ should be taken off the air.

The Doggystyle star says, "It's a completely different scenario. (Rappers) are not talking about no collegiate basketball girls who have made it to the next level in education and sports.

We're talking about hos that's in the 'hood that ain't doing s**t, that's trying to get a n**ga for his money.

These are two separate things. First of all, we ain't no old-ass white men that sit up on MSNBC going hard on black girls. We are rappers that have these songs coming from our minds and our souls that are relevant to what we feel.

I will not let them muthaf**kas say we are in the same league as him.

"Kick him off the air forever."

Respect.

Snoop Dogg's San Francisco Honor Retracted

The mayor of San Francisco has changed his mind about honoring rapper Snoop Dogg, after local officials imposed tighter rules regarding proclamations.

Snoop Dogg -- real name Calvin Broadus -- was due to be presented with a proclamation by a representative from Mayor Gavin Newsom's Office of Criminal Justice during the rapper's performance at the Exotic Erotic Ball on Friday.

But the honor was withdrawn on Wednesday after new legislation was brought in to prevent a repeat of a previous incident, in which Mayor Newsom accidentally proclaimed February 23 Colt Studio Day, celebrating the 40th anniversary of a local gay pornography studio.

The Colt Studio announcement caused outrage in the local community earlier this year, and the local authorities hope to avoid further criticism for honoring a celebrity known for his advocacy of marijuana and allegiance with the Los Angeles gang the Crips.

But Howard Mauskopf, producer of the Exotic Erotic Ball, is not happy with the retraction.

He tells AllHipHop.com, "All we can really do is roll our eyes. What you have here is a Mayor who I think means to do the right thing, but ended up getting fried in the national press.

"Instead of him standing up for the community, he kowtowed to the Bill O'Reilly's of the world and instituted a stricter policy. So when it reached a final decision for this proclamation to be reviewed by this new committee, they felt it was too commercial because of the Ball's sexual nature and Snoop's past."

Outspoken talkshow host O'Reilly has previously called for a boycott of rap music because of the presence of allegedly misogynistic lyrics.

Snoop Dogg Barks Back at U.K.

Convicted rapper Snoop Dogg is determined to solve Britain's growing gang problem -- if only his ban on entering the U.K. could be lifted.

The hip-hop star -- real name Cordozar Calvin Broadus Jr. -- was banned from the U.K. in March because of his drug convictions and he was arrested and cautioned at Heathrow airport on suspicion of violent disorder and affray in 2006.

Snoop claims "men in white wigs" and "laws from the 1800s" are preventing him from tackling the gang issue.

He says, "I love my fans in the U.K., they're really suffering by not letting me in to deal with the gang situation.

"I really wanted to be a voice to stop gang members, 'cause they respect me enough to get into a room with me.

"By not permitting me they're saying they just don't want me to solve this situation.

"It's not the fans, it's just a few people in white wigs and members of parliament. They got a problem because the judicial law is from the 1800s."

David Beckham and Snoop Dogg are set to make a Hollywood movie.

The pair - who have been firm friends for years and have frequently partied in Los Angeles since David moved there this summer - are hoping to finance their own big screen project.

Snoop said, "David and I go back years. No one would have thought me and my boy David would have anything in common because we come from such separate worlds.

"But he has the dollars at his disposal and we're talking about putting our money together to do a movie. It's incredibly exciting."

The 36-year-old rapper also revealed they are considering launching a fashion line together, and joked David takes style tips from him.

Speaking on his upcoming TV documentary 'Father Hood,' Snoop said, "We both love fashion and we might even do a fashion label. I think he got his idea to have cornrows in his hair from me, which is great."

Los Angeles Galaxy star David has been over to Snoop's Beverly Hills mansion to give his children - 13-year-old Corde, 10-year-old Cordell and eight-year-old Cori - some individual soccer coaching.

Snoop said, "I asked him for this favor. He was terrific with my kids, he showed them how to score the perfect goal and they had a great time.

"That's a partnership you never thought you would see, Snoop and Beckham."

Snoop has offered to repay the favor by giving David's sons - Brooklyn, eight, Romeo, five, and two-year-old Cruz - rap lessons.

He joked, "I love soccer just as he loves hip-hop. He hasn't asked me to teach his kids yet - but I'm there if he ever needs it."

Snoop Dogg on His New Family Reality Show: 'This Ain't the Huxtables!'

E!’s new reality series Snoop Dogg’s Father Hood takes viewers inside the rapper's L.A. pound, showing his wife Shante, sons Corde and Cordell and daughter Cori going about their manic lives as rap’s royal family.

During a recent visit to Usmagazine.com’s NYC headquarters, Snoop rapped with Us about his new show (which premieres this Sunday), what it was like playing soccer with Becks, and how he juggles his hip-hop career and family life.

Us: E! is touting your family as including your “surprisingly unaffected” children. Are you worried that they’ll become divas with all the cameras around?

SD: Well, they might, but I just feel like they’re kids. [Viewers] get a chance to see kids who have a celebrity as a father just dealing with life and them becoming celebrities as well, because that’s what the camera brings. Now they have cameras in front of them, so I’m pretty sure their lifestyles will change, but for the most part my sons are not affected. My daughter really loves me in front of the camera.

Us: You coach your youngest son’s football team and have developed a related charity, right?

SD: We won our Super Bowl game last Sunday! I got 32 kids on my team – the Pomona Steelers - and the Snoop Youth Football League has 2,500 kids, 2,000 football players and 500 cheerleaders.

Us: In the show’s second episode, David Beckham helps teach you and your boys the “other football.”

SD: Yeah! He’s gonna show the fellas how to expand and do something outside the box. We’re so used to American sports - baseball, basketball, football - I wanted my kids to see something other than that: Futbol!

Us: So, David’s a cool guy?

SD: Super cool. That’s my homeboy!

Us: Did he bring his own boys with him?

SD: He brought the little one, Cruz.

Us: With so many other celebrity families on reality shows, how do “The Doggs” fit in?

SD: This ain’t the Huxtables! We’re a black family with money, but we don’t do it like that.

Us: What do you think viewers will enjoy most?

SD: The camaraderie between me, my kids and my wife. It ain’t made up. A lot of times you can see these TV shows and you can just see the fakeness.

Us: What’s more difficult: raising a family or making hit records?

SD: Probably raising my family. Making hit records is easy. That’s my number one passion in life. I just find ways to put it on pause and do other things to accommodate my music career, so when I do come back and make music it’s an event.

Snoop Dogg says the bright lights of Hollywood almost blinded him to the value of his family life, but in the end he realized he didn't want anyone else raising his children.

Snoop, 36, who allows cameras into his home life for the new reality series Father Hood, says he reached a crossroads three years ago, and almost made the wrong decision.

"I was going to split up with my wife," he tells the Associated Press. "My wife wasn't going to split up with me. You know, I was caught up. I was caught up with Hollywood, all the girls and the nightlife."

But he had a revelation about the value of one path over the other. "I thought I was the man, and I was willing to give up what I had at home for that," he says, "until I realized that what I had at home was irreplaceable. So I gave that up to go back home."

In 2004, after almost seven years of marriage, Snoop (real name: Calvin Broadus) filed for divorce from his wife Shante. They later reconciled. And their three kids – Corde, Cordell, and Cori – were a major factor in that decision.

"I just don't want another man raising my kids," Snoop says. "That was the main goal. I had kids with my wife because I wanted to be with my wife. And those three babies are all wanted, and I wanted to be with them."

In the years since then, despite some run-ins with the law, Snoop has attempted to reinvent himself as a family man, telling Ellen DeGeneres recently that coaching his little-league football team is a highlight of his life.

"Sometimes you lose focus because this Hollywood entertainment world can throw you off track," he tells the AP. "That's why you see me doing things like this television show and my own football league, and the positive things I do, because I'm back aware again."

Rapper SNOOP DOGG is thrilled his teenage son has found healthier past-times than the gangs and drugs that dominated his youth. Thirteen-year-old Corde is too busy playing sports and chasing girls to get caught up in trouble - and Snoop, a former member of Los Angeles gang The Crips, couldn't be happier. He says, "He's very athletic. He's not caught up in the things I was caught up in. The gangs; the drugs; the negativity. They are so distant to him. He is focused on school, football and the few girls he's trying to get."

Strange budfellows: Snoop Dogg & Alan Thicke

Alan Thicke is currently starring in JPod - the new Canadian TV series based on Douglas Coupland's novel about video-game programmers. On the show, his wife's character, Carol (played by Sherry Miller), grows pot in their basement.

The 60-year-old actor, who's best known for his role as Dr. Jason Seaver in Growing Pains as well as for the short-lived late-night 1980 talk-fest, The Alan Thicke Show, says he "never saw a joint, I never heard of marijuana, I never knew a thing about it - and then I came to California and all hell breaks loose."

More recently, he found himself in the company of Snoop Dogg. After the session, Snoop commented on a radio show that "the weirdest person [i've] ever smoked dope with was Alan Thicke."

Perhaps the Dogfather had confused Thicke's son - the blue-eyed soul singer Robin who had the 2006 hit, "Lost Without You" - with Alan?

Papa Thicke explains: "What I copped to is that we were all at a party together and Snoop was smoking, so maybe that's what he meant. All I can say on this front is that if I were tested, it might have been second-hand smoke."

Meanwhile, Papa Dogg has his own new G-rated show - Fatherhood - on E!

SNOOP HOPES VIDEO OF BRAWL WILL OVERTURN U.K. BAN

Rapper SNOOP DOGG is optimistic a video recording of a brawl at London's Heathrow airport that got him banned from the U.K. will help overturn the ruling. The hip-hop star is currently forbidden from entering the U.K., partly as a result of his drug convictions but also because he was cautioned by police on suspicion of violent disorder and affray following the Heathrow skirmish in 2006. But Snoop - real name Calvin Broadus - hopes video footage of the incident taped by a bystander will prove that British police were overly aggressive and responsible for the confrontation. He says, "They release this video and it's floating around on YouTube, TMZ and all over the internet. It's looking real strange how they (police) did that to me and my security. Now they looking real out of pocket."

PIZZA, NO POT

February 23, 2008 -- A LITTLE run-in with the cops isn't gonna bother Snoop Dogg . The rapper, who was issued a desk appearance ticket outside of Lotus Wednesday for marijuana possession, partied it up the next night with a posse of 25 at Serafina on East 61st Street. "They took over the entire back area and the terrace," said our spy. The group ordered 15 pizzas. Later, Snoop took the party next door to the tapas lounge Lollipop, where the party continued. Earlier in the day, Snoop was complaining the pot charges were "bogus" at the Monday Night Fight Klub Studios while shooting BET interviews.

Snoop Dogg Ordered To Settle Lawsuit With His Former Label

Rapper Snoop Dogg must reach a settlement with his former label Priority Records within the next three weeks - or the unpaid royalties case will go to trial, a Los Angeles Superior Court judge has ruled. The Signs hit-maker - real name Cordozar Calvin Broadus - filed suit against the label in 2006, accusing Priority Records of failing to pay up $2 million in outstanding royalties.

He also claimed he had yet to receive a $950,000 advance for his 2000 album Tha Last Meal, while Priority failed to consult him over the greatest hits LP The Best of Snoop Dogg, which they released without his consent in October 2005. The two parties have both revealed they are close to reaching an agreement over the allegedly overdue payments, but needed more time to resolve all issues.

However, at a court hearing on Thursday, Judge Helen I. Bendix set a deadline of March 26th for any settlement to be reached. If Snoop and Priority still disagree by that date, Bendix will either set a trial date or refer the case to the Superior Court's Alternative Dispute Resolution program.

Snoop Dogg is now signed to Geffen/Interscope Records.

Snoop comes to Llanview - kinda makes me sad that I stopped watching soaps all those years ago. :D

But now see, what he really needs is to go there and get Dorian Lord stoned out of her mind. (I don't even know if her character's on the show anymore but if she is, that's the chick I want Snoop to smoke out.)

SQUEEEEEEEE!!!!!!! (Cracker is a formerly devout soap fan and "One Life to Live" is her first soap). And Snoop is going to play Ultra Violet!!! Okay, it's been MANY months since I last watched the show (I didn't recognize half the cast except for Viki and Dorian) but I will try and tune in for this.

I did watch when Nelly Furtado was on--I thought it was cute they made her a friend of Antonio.
