Zap2It.com gossipALL THAT DRAGImitation is the sincerest form of flattery, no? So it's no surprise that Catherine Zeta-Jones ("Out of the Blue") warmed to a drag queen recently when spotted in the Vancouver makeup store Beauty Mark. The drag queen, complete with high heels and a wig, spied the "Chicago" star, shouting out "Yoo-hoo-- Velma! I'm you're biggest fan, honey" loudly across the story. While the actress' friends tried to pull her away, the fan burst into a show-stopping rendition of Velma's signature song from the film, "All That Jazz." But Zeta-Jones understood the spirit of the gesture and to everyone's surprise, joined the drag queen and belted out the tune arm in arm with her as other shoppers burst into applause. Now that's how to make an entrance!

Catherine Shamed for Being Cheapimdb.comCatherine Zeta-Jones has been shamed for her cheapskate antics at a charity auction - for bidding just $25 for Sir Paul McCartney's autograph. The actress and husband Michael Douglas were being honored at the Adopt-a- Minefield bash in Hollywood last month, which McCartney was performing at, when Zeta-Jones decided to bid for her hero's signature. Comic Jay Leno , who hosted the event, has joked about the incident on his late night TV show in America. And now, the Welsh actress says, "It's so embarrassing. I'm a cheap Welsh girl with good morals and I thought $25 would suffice. It wasn't until after I raised my hand and bid $25 that I realized how stupid I was. I am thrifty by nature."

Catherine & Michael's BirthdayStar OnlineSuperstar couple Michael Douglas and Catherine Zeta-Jones , born on the same day 25 years apart, celebrated their birthdays a day early at a star-studded Santa Monica soirée Sept. 24. As Catherine turned 34 and Michael hit 59, they threw the bash at the ritzy Buffalo Club for such friends as Jack Nicholson, Danny DeVito and his wife Rhea Perlman. Another May-December couple, Sir Paul McCartney and pregnant wife Heather Mills, sipped champagne under Japanese-style lanterns on the club's private patio.Douglas' kids Dylan, 3, and Carys, 5 months, were left with a nanny, but Michael's oldest son, Cameron, 24, flew in from New York and snagged a dance with Catherine on the crowded dance floor. "I'm here for my Dad," he told us, "but I'm having a great time celebrating with Catherine, too. My father has never been happier! They make a great couple, don't they?"Catherine, all in black, patted Mills' baby-bump while hugging her affectionately. The two swapped baby-talk for almost 40 minutes while their husbands shared jokes and drinks with Nicholson and DeVito. As the clock struck midnight, the guests let out a collective cheer while Catherine and Michael shared a long, lingering kiss and a slow dance. The happy couple closed out the party at 2 a.m., carrying a stack of unopened gifts home with them.

Catherine Zeta-Jones was deeply upset when she filmed "Intolerable Cruelty" with George Clooney -- because he refused to play pranks on her.The "Chicago" beauty had long heard about Clooney's prankster antics on movie sets, so she was looking forward to falling victim to some of his practical jokes herself -- but it wasn't to be.She says, "He is the biggest prankster and you know what? He didn't play one on me and I was depressed. I thought he didn't wanna be my friend like, 'You can't play in my gang' I was like, 'Please do a prank on me!'"But we had a lot of laughs. It was hard to keep a straight face."

Diandra Douglas: "I'd Never Badmouth Michael"imdb.comMichael Douglas's ex-wife Diandra Douglas would never badmouth her onetime spouse to the press - because it's "the height of bad taste". Diandra divorced the Traffic star in 2000 after 23 years of marriage, amid claims he had cheated on her many times. Since then Michael has married Welsh actress Catherine Zeta-Jones and Diandra is with businessman boyfriend Zack Hampton, but their relationship remains strained. Despite the frostiness between them, Diandra insists that she would never air her views about Michael in public - as it would hurt their son Cameron Douglas too much. She says, "First of all, I consider it the height of bad taste, and secondly, Michael is, and always will be, the father of my son. If I hurt his father I'd also be hurting him. I think it's terrible that children should have to suffer just because their parents don't get along. You have to be really careful not to hurt your children, not to scar them for life." Diandra had recently been reported to be planning a 'tell-all' biography on her life with Douglas.

Zeta-Jones Takes Action Over Atkins Diet Reportsimdb.comMovie actress Catherine Zeta-Jones has instructed her lawyers to stamp out media reports that credit her post-pregnancy weight loss to the controversial Atkins Diet. The Intolerable Cruelty star is upset her name has been linked with the anti-carbohydrate diet, and is worried fans who admire her may take it up. Her lawyer Jay Lavely says, "She never authorized the use of her name, likeness or persona in any way to endorse or promote the Atkins Diet. She is being made to look as if she is more concerned about her outward appearance than with serious health concerns. The diet has been derided by nutritionists and other health care officials for decades. Many doctors refer to the Atkins Diet as 'pseudo science'." But Atkins Nutritionals Inc. spokesman Richard Rothstein tells the New York Daily News, "We have never solicited the support of any celebrities. It's not a Hollywood diet. "

Good move to leave the rocks at home, Cath. Hubby Douglas, in a classic black tie, has finally let a little snow gather on his renovated roof. Lawyers Shoot Down Zeta-Jones BiographySTEPHEN M. SILVERMANpeople.comAn unauthorized biography of Catherine Zeta-Jones has been shelved after its British publishers got cold feet over the project, reports the BBC.The book, by biographer Cliff Goodwin, who has also chronicled the life of the late actor Richard Harris, was due to have been published in time for Christmas. But Goodwin, who spent months researching the project, was forced to abandon the 256-page "Catherine Zeta-Jones: The Biography" once he and the publisher, Virgin Publishing (part of Virgin Air entrepreneur Richard Branson's empire), received threatening letters from Zeta-Jones's legal team, according to the BBC.Goodwin said that the project had been difficult nearly from the start, given that the parents of the "Chicago" Oscar winner, who hails from Wales, rarely speak to the press and did not talk to him. Nor did her close family and friends.Zeta-Jones, 34, and her husband, Michael Douglas, 59, gave their lawyers quite a bit of business this year. Only last month, after a high-profile trial, the two were awarded $24,250 in damages from the British celebrity magazine Hello! in London's High Court -- far short of the nearly $831,000 the couple wanted from the publication for having published unauthorized photos of their November 2000 wedding.During the trial, Zeta-Jones called the photos sleazy and unflattering. But Judge John Lindsay ruled against the couple on several key points. Although he said Hello! had breached the couple's rights of confidence, he ruled against the stars' claim of invasion of privacy and rejected their demands for "aggravated and exemplary damages."Also last month, the Smoking Gun Web site reported that Zeta-Jones was bent out of shape by reports that she lost weight thanks to the high-protein Atkins diet, so a warning letter was sent to media outlets by her Century City, Calif., law firm. The letter said that that she had become aware that her "likeness and persona have been improperly linked" to the "world-renowned Atkins diet," and that the incorrect information is "falsely representing to the average reader ... that Ms. Zeta-Jones would recommend this diet to any person looking to lose weight."The legal letter said that no link between Zeta-Jones and the Atkins plan should ever be made.

ZETA-JONES' AGENT-SWAP SHOCK

Page Six

CATHERINE Zeta-Jones is jealous of Nicole Kidman's career and was told by her husband Michael Douglas she could only win another Oscar by dumping her longtime William Morris agent, George Freeman, for Creative Artists Agency's Bryan Lourd, Hollywood insiders say.

The move, which came late in the day Thursday, stunned Hollywood as Freeman had repped Zeta-Jones for 10 years, and was her "very best friend," a spy said. "They went on vacations together. He made her."

"It is shocking," said another insider. "George took this little-known British actress that no one cared about and made her into an Oscar winner. She is an ungrateful diva who has not had a career misstep and it is inconceivable that she would screw George like this. He just got her $10 million for 'Zorro II.' "

The insider added: "A lot of this was Michael's doing. He pecked away at Catherine, saying, 'Why didn't you get this part? Why didn't you get that part?' "

Part of the problem, the source explained, is that Zeta-Jones wants Kidman's career.

"Nicole gets first look at every script," we're told. "Catherine doesn't. Nicole and Catherine had very similar careers until Nicole's divorce from Tom Cruise. Then audiences found her sympathetic. No one finds Catherine a very sympathetic character or as likeable."

But our source, who is a pal of sultry Zeta-Jones, told PAGE SIX: "Listen, George is a nice guy, but after she won her Oscar for 'Chicago,' he didn't get her any work.

"There wasn't a team effort at William Morris either and she felt she needed support, and [Lourd] has got some great things lined up for her. And by the way, who wouldn't want Nicole Kidman's career?"

Zeta-Jones' representative, CeCe York , said: "It has only ever been my experience that Michael fully supports Catherine. He has his own projects. The reason Catherine left William Morris is between her and the agency. People change agencies ? it happens all the time ? and the 'Zorro' deal has not been signed."

A rep for Douglas said: "All husbands and wives discuss things, but Catherine makes her own decisions."

Freeman and Lourd didn't return calls.

According to Ted C. of E! these two are snippy with each other.

...now I'm hearing, via the SAG parade, that other couples are possibly headed bustup way.

Like Michael & Catherine or Naomi & Heath or Kristin & Cynthia & Kim. Oops, I implied it again! Of course, I don't mean the latter Sex and the City threesome were ever together in any more than a professional sense, but let's just say their snippy interactions between sound bites and photo ops made one thing brilliantly clear: It's a good thing that show is ending. For their sakes, at least (certainly not ours).

The only peeps with less rapport were Mike & Catherine and Heath & Naomi. Hmmm. I give the former twosome more credit than most peeps do--after all, they're very much alike in many ways. Not so sure the latter lovers have much in common but background 'n' bods, though sometimes that's all it takes! Oh, do let's get cheerier at the big shoo...

 Geez tell me those two aren't serious about reproducing again. Now we'll have to listen to 9 more months of her talking about how hard it is taking care of kids and him talking about how great it is having kids since he's become a senior citizen.Enough already.By the way, they both are looking a bit haggard in the pictures on this thread.
