Tori Amos

Recommended Posts

pagesixsixsix.comTori has a new album coming out next month, on February 22nd, called The Beekeeper, and we can’t wait! Not to mention that she has a duet with our favorite troubadour Damien Rice.In this great RollingStone.com article Tori talks about her duet with Rice and the inspiration for the new record. Below are a few juicy tidbits."All the pianos I've ever played, I call them 'the girls,'" says Tori. But the singer-songwriter turned to the organ for her latest album. after her husband gave her a Hammond B3 for Christmas. "The organ seemed like this male force," says Amos. "I started to really get drawn to it every day."Spanning nearly eighty minutes, The Beekeeper's nineteen tracks took Amos two years to write. The themes of the record may be her most universal, rich with mythology and informed by a sense of history. But it also feels like her most personal album to date, with songs such as "Ribbons Undone," an ode to her four-year-old daughter. Says Amos, "This album is exploring relationships."Vocally, The Beekeeper feels lush, thanks to Amos' continued experimentation with layered vocals. Four songs -- including the rollicking, six-minute "Witness," which finds Amos hooting and testifying over a bleating organ -- are augmented by background vocals by the London Community Gospel Choir.

Amos Launches Verbal Tirade Against Unruly Fans

Singer Tori Amos shocked fans when she launched a verbal attack on misbehaving gig-goers -- and had them removed from the venue.

The star was performing in San Diego on Wednesday when two girls seated in the front row of Copley Symphony Hall persistently left and returned to their places during her performance.

Amos was so infuriated by their behavior, she stopped halfway through song "Code Red" and yelled, "Get the [bleep] out of my show! It's a privilege to sit in the front row and I reserve those seats for people who appreciate music, get the [bleep] out!"

The pair were then escorted from the gig, reports Dlisted.com.

Amos Has A Vicious Relationship With Husband

Singer TORI AMOS always resolves work-related arguments with her record producer husband "before bedtime" - because their relationship in the studio can be "vicious."

The Spark hitmaker married Mark Hawley in 1998, and after 11 years of marriage, they've learned how to separate their home and work lives. But Amos admits it can be tricky getting the balance right.

She says, "We’re both perfectionists (at work), so we’re vicious but fair. It can make it difficult to walk back in and be lovers.

"If we’ve had a confrontation in the studio, we’ve made a pact to make up before bedtime, so we always make sure our romance side is protected."
