Grammy Awards Fug: Carrie Underwood

Carrie Underwood has a habit of showing up at award shows looking like a million bucks on the red carpet and then changing into something that makes her look more like five bucks. Behold:

Red Carpet:

"What a cute girl," you might say. "I love things that are sparkly. She looks sexy and age-appropriate!"

And then:

Posted Image

"Interesting," you might say. "Why did that cute girl change into a morose lampshade? How loud do you think that skirt is when she tries to sit down?"

And then:

Posted Image

"That cute girl looks like she's wearing her nightgown. Why is she wearing her nightgown? She's not at home, watching the Grammys in bed, eating bon bons and painting her toenails, like we are. Could she have had some kind of head injury backstage leading her to believe that in fact she was singing into her hairbrush in her bedroom? How very sad. How very sad, indeed. Maybe they should give her an award to snap her back into reality."

The ACM Awards in Vegas, Baby!

Filed under: Awards , Carrie Underwood , Red Carpet

At the 42nd annual Academy of Country Music Awards in Vegas last night, Carrie Underwood made out like a bandit, snatching up three trophies--the most for any performer nominated this year. She looked cute as a button on the red carpet and I have to say that because I have a special place in my heart reserved for short, gold sheath dresses--well, all things shiny, really--I'm totally digging her outfit. I love that Lil Jon was there too rocking his dookie chain. And I'm also a fan of Gretchen Wilson's sassy attitude, but I just wish she'd take a couple of pictures where it doesn't look like she desperately wants to punch me.

Carrie's Weight Confession

Posted Image

She’s lost the weight, now she’s dishing the dirt.

American Idol winner Carrie Underwood is making some loud noises for a girl you can barely see: she’s coming clean about how it felt to be called fat and how she lost the weight.

“I was heavier,” the crooner admits in the February issue of Shape magazine. “Still, there’s nothing worse than going online and reading that someone called you chubby.”

So she did something about it.

“My favorite thing is cardio,” says Carrie. “It really helps the pounds melt off, and it gives me so much more energy. Now when I’m performing and running around the stage, it’s no big deal. Whereas before, I was always gasping for breath. Working out has really paid off onstage.

“I’m a performer, and yes, being in good shape is part of the package,” she tells the fitness monthly.

“But I don’t ever want to get neurotic about my weight. I feel healthy and I know I’m a good size for me. And that’s what’s important.”

Keith Urban’s Valentine’s Day Shout-Out to Nicole

It was only Feb. 13 – but Keith Urban couldn't wait to wish his wife, Nicole Kidman, a happy Valentine's Day.

During the encore for his Wednesday night concert in Madison Square Garden – co-headlined by American Idol Carrie Underwood – the country superstar dedicated his hit, "Got it Right This Time," to his pregnant wife, who's back home in their native Australia.

Why get the jump a day early? Those pesky time zones. "It's Valentine's Day here tomorrow," he told the crowd, "but today it's already Valentine's Day in Australia."

The emotional tribute capped a rocking live show for Urban. At one point, he even walked out into the crowd, playing a song on his guitar while surrounded by crazed fans. He then autographed the instrument and handed it to the audience member standing next to him.

"It won't take so long to come back this time ...," he pledged at the end of the show. "We'll be back in New York real soon."

Is Chace Hiding Carrie From His Co-Stars?

OK!

Since their romance jumped out of the gates in October with a smooch-filled weekend in NYC, country superstar Carrie Underwood and Gossip Girl stud Chace Crawford have only been seen together a handful of times — never at red-carpet functions — and rarely answer questions about their couple-dom.

And OK! has learned that it's not just the public that's being kept in the dark about this camera-friendly couple. Even Chace’s Gossip Girl co-star Kelly Rutherford is curious. "I've never seen her on the set,” she tells OK! at the Readalicious Wonderland event in Century City, Calif., on March 1. “He’s keeping her a secret!”

And even though Kelly hasn't had the chance to chat up Chace's cutie-pie, she does have one request to make of her 22-year-old co-star and his gal-pal: “I hope she sings for the show!”

Former 'American Idol' Winner Carrie Underwood Invited To Join The Grand Ole Opry

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) - Carrie Underwood will become the newest member of the Grand Ole Opry after she was invited Saturday to join the long-running country music show.

Randy Travis extended the invitation as Underwood finished ''I Told You So,'' a Travis song that Underwood recorded on her latest album.

Her official induction will be May 10.

The former ''American Idol'' winner sold 7 million copies of her debut album ''Some Hearts'' and shot to superstardom almost overnight with hits including ''Before He Cheats'' and ''Jesus, Take the Wheel.''

Her follow-up album, ''Carnival Ride,'' came out last fall and has produced two No. 1s: ''So Small'' and her current single ''All-American Girl.''

Underwood said backstage that the invitation was a complete surprise.

''I felt like I just won something amazing all over again,'' she said. ''The Opry has meant so much to me growing up, seeing people perform and wanting to do that.''

Underwood, 25, becomes the latest young hitmaker to become an Opry member in recent years, joining Brad Paisley, Josh Turner and Dierks Bentley.

The Opry, established in 1925, is the longest continuously running radio show in the country. Legends such as Hank Williams Sr. and Patsy Cline were once members of the cast, and contemporary stars including Alan Jackson and Martina McBride are part of today's show, which airs every Friday and Saturday night on WSM-AM.

Opry management says artists are invited to join based on their commitment to the show, as measured by the frequency of their guest appearances, and their overall contribution to country music.

Carrie Underwood: 'I've Been Cheated On'

Carrie Underwood, who has been linked to such famous men as football star Tony Romo and Gossip Girl's Chace Crawford, says she's experienced heartbreak at the hands of an unfaithful boyfriend – but remains mum on the culprit.

"I've been cheated on a time or two. It's tough," she tells InStyle in the May issue, on newsstands Friday. "I wouldn't recommend doing any property damage, though," she laughs, a reference to her Grammy-winning song "Before He Cheats" about a woman who trashes her boyfriend's truck.

"Now I'm to the point where you get one shot. Life's too short," adds the Season 4 American Idol champ, who says that dessert is one way she heals from heartache.

"I'm a 'let it go, move on' kind of person. And ice cream is my friend. If anybody sees me eating a sundae and I look unhappy, something bad has happened," Underwood tells the magazine. "I am drowning my sorrows in fudge and caramel and whipped cream."

The singer also admits that she struggles with body image."I think about what I look like probably more than I should. But I think everybody is her own worst critic," she says. "Some days I step out of the shower, put my lotion on, and I'll be like 'Ugh, ew, ew.' "

She rarely goes out without makeup and keeps a food diary: "I'm OCD like that," Underwood admits. "I count calories, fat and fiber – which is important in making you feel fuller faster – and protein, especially when I'm working out."

Why is she so strict with herself? "If I put on five pounds, it's noticed immediately," says Underwood.

Still, she says, "I'm content with 90 percent of me. I like my teeth. Sometimes I wonder if my orthodontist realizes how important he was."

Carrie Underwood Breaks Down During Atlanta Show

Carrie Underwood had an emotional moment during her concert with Keith Urban at The Arena At Gwinnett Center outside of Atlanta on Thursday.

During a performance of "Don't Forget to Remember Me," from her album Some Hearts, the country chanteuse broke down into tears in the middle of the song's second chorus. According to an audience member, the singer cried through several lines of the song – then attempted to tackle the chorus but broke down again.

According to a rep for Underwood, the emotional song was inspired by the singer's mother – and leaving home. In it, she sings: "Hey Momma ... tell Me-maw that I miss her/ Yeah, I should give her a call/ And make sure you tell Daddy that I'm still his little girl."

But the night wasn't all dour for the former Idol. According to a concertgoer, Underwood later perked up, telling the crowd she's found the love of her life. His name? Ace – her dog!

Underwood's Body Issues

By WENN

Country star Carrie Underwood is so paranoid about gaining weight, she keeps a strict food diary in a bid to keep herself slim.

The singer admits that her obsession borders on Obsessive Compulsive Disorder.

Underwood often thinks of herself as ugly and refuses to leave the house without makeup. And she admits to following strict guidelines when it comes to her diet to make her feel better about herself.

She tells InStyle magazine, "I think about what I look like probably more than I should. But I think everybody is her own worst critic. "Some days I step out of the shower, put my lotion on, and I'll be like 'Ugh, ew, ew.'

"If I put on five pounds, it's noticed immediately. I'm OCD like that. I count calories, fat and fiber, which is important in making you feel fuller faster, and protein, especially when I'm working out."

Rumer Willis Picks Up Where Carrie Underwood Left Off

Blogger Emily Brill spotted Gossip Girl's Chace Crawford and celebridaughter Rumer Willis out partying together Thursday night (they were also seen flirting at a GQ party last December).

According to Brill, people "were struck by how short and see-through her white dress was (not to mention the fact that she was wearing a black bra underneath). Oh, and chain-smoking … big time." The pair left Rose Bar around 2:30 and headed to the Beatrice Inn via one big, black Escalade.

She chain-smokes! She wears black bras under white! She makes condom water balloons and puts them in her mouth! Is Bruce and Demi's edgy spawn just the rebound Chace needs to get over wholesome ex-girlfriend Carrie Underwood? Remember that Chace broke up with Carrie last month via text message. (Kids.) Should he and Rumer turn into something serious, let's hope he turns to his Facebook status updates when it's time to call it quits. There's something about that little animated broken heart next to the phrase "Chace Crawford is no longer listed as in a relationship” that automatically makes you assume it was the other person's fault.

Does she have a special new guy? Carrie Underwood, stepping out for dinner with former Bachelor (and The Doctors co-host) Travis Stork. The pair headed to Stephen Starr’s French bistro Parc in Philadelphia, where the country star referred to Stork as her "boyfriend" at dinner, a fellow diner says. The couple were joined by two friends and shared a bottle of Malbec and water with their food. "They were very cute," the diner tells us. "After dinner they even skipped down the sidewalk together as they left." Calls to Underwood's rep were not immediately returned.

Underwood 'Confident' About New Album

Carrie Underwood has revealed that she is confident her third album Play On will help secure a long career in the music industry.

The singer, who won American Idol in 2005, admitted that she feels less anxious now compared to when her second album Carnival Ride was released in 2007.

"I feel like the second album had the most pressure for me," she told Billboard.

"I want to be somebody in the music business, not just somebody that [people say], 'Oh, yeah, five years ago she won that. Where did she go?'.

"So making Carnival Ride was pretty stressful, but on this one I feel like I'm home.

"I'm in the music business. When people mention names like Kenny Chesney and Keith Urban and Brad Paisley, sometimes my name is in there too."

Underwood recently confirmed that she co-wrote a number of songs on the new record alongside Luke Laird, with whom she collaborated on 'So Small', 'Last Name' and 'Twisted' for her Carnival Ride record.

Play On is released on November 3.

Carrie Underwood Left Squirming on Live With Regis and Kelly

CARRIE Underwood is quite clearly a woman in love.

The country music star made an appearance on Live With Regis and Kelly Thursday and talked about her relationship with Ottawa Senators hockey player Mike Fisher.

“You got yourself a good-looking brute,” said Regis Philbin, holding up a large photo of Fisher to the studio audience.

“He is, yeah,” replied Underwood, who seemed uncomfortable talking about her beau of more than a year.

Underwood quickly changed the subject, telling Philbin and co-host Kelly Ripa that Fisher was a big fan of the TV-couple.

“He told me to tell you hello,” Underwood told them.

Underwood — who ended her romance with Gossip Girl star Chace Crawford in April last year — recently revealed that being famous has destroyed her love life.

“You never really know why somebody wants to be around you or if they do genuinely like you,” she said.

“I wish everyone had a label on their forehead so you could automatically tell their intentions. Sometimes you just wish that no one wanted anything from you.”

Carrie Underwood Won't Cohabitate with Mike Fisher

Things are going well for Carrie Underwood and hockey boyfriend Mike Fisher – but not well enough for the two to shack up.

"No, call me old-fashioned. He's there. I'm here," Underwood, 26, tells Ellen Degeneres in an interview to air on the TV host's program Wednesday. "We're both doing our thing and it's good. The next guy I move in with will be my hubby. Whoever that is. I'm not saying it's going to be him."

But despite it all, the odds look good for the Ottawa Senator – you could even say that this romance has got legs.

"Close to a year now. That's the longest relationship I've had," she says. "I joke and say my dogs are the longest relationship ever."

But Fisher, 29, nearly didn't get a chance at Underwood's heart at all.

"We had a friend, one of my band members was trying to hook us up, "she says. "He was like, 'I have this guy for you.' I was like, 'Oh, that's great. What does he do?' 'He plays hockey' " Underwood gives a thumbs down.

" 'Does he have his own teeth?' 'No but, he's got his really good dentist.' " Underwood gives a thumbs down.

" 'Where does he live?' 'Canada.' " Thumbs down. "I love Canada, but that is a long-distance relationship," Underwood adds.

But it all worked out, she concludes.

"We see each other more than people think we see each other," she says "We don't go out like publicly. We just do our thing."

Carrie Underwood engaged to NHL player Mike Fisher

By CAITLIN R. KING, Associated Press Writer

Carrie Underwood is engaged to Ottawa Senators hockey player Mike Fisher, her publicist said Monday.

No wedding date has been set for the couple, who have been dating for about a year.

"The couple couldn't be happier," said publicist Jessie Schmidt.

Fisher, 29, recorded his 300th career point for the Senators in their 4-1 win over the Minnesota Wild on Saturday. Fisher had an assist on Anton Volchenkov's goal in the first period.

Asked by The Associated Press last month what Underwood's family thought of Fisher, the 26-year-old singer said they were supportive.

"They love me and I would hope my parents would think we raised a good, smart girl, so she's going to do the right thing no matter what it is," she said.

Days before the CMA Awards in early November, Underwood did not know whether she would be spending the holidays with Fisher.

"Christmas, I don't know. We haven't really thought that far ahead. We kind of take it one week at a time," she said then.

Underwood has kept her relationship largely under wraps, but she gave Fisher a very public shout-out in the liner notes of her current album, "Play On," that was released Nov. 3. She wrote, "Thank you (No.) 12 (referring to his jersey number.) You are the most amazing addition to my life! You are such a wonderful person and have had such an amazing hand in the building of this album and in the growth of me as a person. I love you so much! You make my life better in every way!"
