Fashion Police

How could we not have a Fashion Police thread?!?!

So, what does everyone else think with Kathy Griffin filling in for Joan Rivers? I have to say, she's doing much better than I thought she would do. She toned it down and made her comedy to match the audience. I'm kind of impressed she's doing pretty well. I will say I don't like what the new host has done in terms of the dynamic between Guilliana and Kelly - they have become like high school girls, WTF??

Regarding the mess Guilliana is in right now because of her comments about the dread locks, am I the only one that think it has gotten blown way out of proporation, especially considering some of the other jokes that were told that very same episode??

No opinion re: the Zendaya situation but Giulana needs a reality check in general. I know the poor thing is clearly ill but you really can't be critiquing the appearance of others when you yourself look like a dying mantis.

That being said, I think Z looked AMAZING at the oscars - the hair, the dress, all of it - and that's all anyone needed to say.

Edited to add that Kelly O is a half step away from tragic herself. Don't get how either one of them is qualified to comment on the appearance of others. They might as well have me up there. I'm pretty funny, at least, if I do say so myself.

Agreed, I thought she looked great too. But to get all bent out of shape about a weed joke because of your hair? On a TV show that is suppose to be about fashion and jokes? Shouldn't John Travolta also therefore be pissed that he was called a creeper the entire episode? What's more offensive, a pot head joke or a sleezie molester joke? Are they going to have to issue apologies after every episode now for every joke they tell??

Oh wait, I get it - Giulana is paid to endorse all sorts of products, so of course she can't piss any of them off. And Kelly is still a closet club kid that wants to party with all of them, so of course she's going to try to stay on everyone's good side.

I'm starting to think Joan Rivers kept G and K in check more than we realized...

Not even going to bother putting this in BI forum :D

ENTERTAINMENT LAWYER 02/24 **#3**

It is war behind the scenes at this cable network. Apparently the B- list former talk show host/reality star was working behind the scenes yesterday to try and get an A list current multiple talk show host/reality star fired for some comments she made. The B- lister might have a shot because of all the people she has slept with, but she has no talent so she won’t be helping herself in all this.

Again, no point in putting this in BI forum:

Awful Stirs It Up

[Blind Gossip]

“She has zero talent but she thinks that she should be the star of the show.”

Almost every single member of the cast of Awful’s TV show has received tons of attention in the past year… except for Awful. This really bothered her. So when one of her costars made a controversial comment, she jumped on the chance to inject herself into the controversy. She expressed outrage and threatened to quit.

Is her outrage real? “Everybody here just rolled their eyes because we’ve all heard her use racist language before!”

Is she going to quit the show? “No way. Where else is she going to go? She is just an entitled brat with no talent and everybody knows it. All she’s doing is stirring up sh*t in the hopes of getting [her costar] fired because she thinks that would make her a bigger star. Yeah, she really is that awful.”

Awful:

Wait - I didn't understand Kelly's comments - I thought she was sticking up for G? No?

No, she was pointing the finger of blame at G. You can check out this article from MTV for all the details.

OH. I had thought she was angry at everyone bashing G and if they didn't stop she was threatening to leave the show. LOL. Either way, Kelly, girl, who you kidding, you're not leaving that show until they pry your rigid corpse off that stage. No one else is making you offers lolololol - it's good to dream though

Kelly Osbourne

Quits 'Fashion Police'She Just Had It
3 minutes ago BY TMZ STAFF

Kelly Osbourne quit "Fashion Police" ... TMZ has learned.

Multiple sources connected with the show tell us ... producers and Kelly were at odds even before the Giuliana Rancic showdown, where Kelly threatened to quit unless Giuliana apologized over her comments about Zendaya on the red carpet at the Oscars.

We're told the tension started over the first episode the cast taped without Joan Rivers. Kelly was unhappy with the way the show was being produced. Producers, we're told, were "up to here" with Kelly so the handwriting was on the wall.

Sources tells us Kelly walked Friday.

I think Kelly really didn't want to work with Kathy Griffin and tried to prevent her from being hired, and that's what the "didn't like the way the show was being produced" means. Then she used the Guiliana situation as an excuse to quit and not look bad.....

I have always loved Kathy Griffin but I too was worried about the direction of the show (I do NOT like Brad) but I have liked her. I also like that they're back to just doing it occasionally (fashion week, awards shows).

FYI - we used to talk about Fashion Police in the Joan thread, I think? I know we've definitely talked about the show, as many of us are fans!!

Now, I have never watched any of the Real Housewives shows - but isn't NeNe the one who was on the sitcom with Andrew Rannells? If so, I didn't mind her there....

I will say that Fashion Police could use some diversity. And to be non-euphemistic, they need more PEOPLE OF COLOR. DIFFERENT ETHNICITIES.

TMZ

Kelly Osbourne's departure opened the floodgates ... Hollywood agents are scrambling to get their clients a shot at her "Fashion Police" seat -- but they'll have to get past Kathy Griffin first.

Our sources at the network say it's been inundated by candidates -- pitched mostly by agents from CAA and WME. We're also told E! execs are squashing Kathy's desire to apply the stamp of approval. They say the final choice will be theirs.

So far Naya Rivera, Christina Milian, NeNe Leakes, and Khloe Kardashian remain the front runners, but we're told it's still anybody's game.

Fashion fight!

Khloe Kardashian and NeNe Leakes might be the favorites to fill the empty chair on "Fashion Police," but there is a new contender throwing his hat into the ring ... Larry King.

Yes, the octogenarian wants a shot at the gig and demonstrated his couture knowledge Monday night by critiquing the outfits of some younger people on his way into BOA.

King doesn't seem to know things like the names of designers (he's baffled by Vans) or have any fashion sense of his own .... but he'd still make a helluva host!

What a shit show this has become, eh?

They should not have tried to continue on - Joan was the show and the show was Joan. I guess they'll try to find a couple of new hosts to keep it going, but Melissa Rivers should hang up the towel and just enjoy her inheritance ;-)

I am surprised Kathy left, but I suppose she got what she wanted out of it - a huge PR boost. I am shocked though they they are all using G's pot joke as a reason to jump ship.

Kathy Griffin didn't really use the pot joke - she said she didn't want to participate in body shaming. I can't help but support her in that.

You have to wonder though - Kathy knew what the show was going in (and to be fair, Joan didn't usually body shame, but she'd say whatever she thought was funny, so sometimes she did....)

I still think the show is a clusterf*ck behind the scenes and that's why everyone is jumping ship.

Kathy Griffin 'Fashion Police' We're Done with Her ... And Right Back Atcha

Kathy Griffin was about to get fired before she railed on "Fashion Police" and quit the show ... so claim sources connected with the production, but Kathy says it's a lie ... she's wanted to quit from the get-go.

We're told there was a pitch meeting for the show several days ago in which someone in the room pitched an idea called "Whore Score." We're told the idea was rejected because it was too mean.

Kathy ranted about the segment idea saying, "Name calling and alliteration with no comedic context is simply the lowest hanging fruit." She then made "Fashion Police" sound old school and tired.

Not to be the Lit Police (haha), but "Whore Score" isn't an example of alliteration. It is, however, low-hanging fruit. Lame all around.

I would LOVE to hear Joan's take on all this!!

‘Fashion Police’ In Crisis: How Giuliana Rancic’s Diva Demands Secretly Sunk The Show
Posted on

Mar 13, 2015 @ 14:51PM

RadarOnline.com

As Fashion Police goes down in flames, some have blamed Giuliana Rancic’s controversial comments for the sudden implosion. But RadarOnline.com has learned that while insiders say Rancic is largely to blame for Kathy Griffin and Kelly Osbourne’s departures, it was not her crass jokes but her diva behavior that sent them packing!

According to an insider, Osbourne and Griffin “couldn’t deal with Giuliana’s diva behavior!”

“Giuliana’s entourage of a stylist, make-up artist, and assistant, plus her constant need for attention, were absolutely stunning to Kathy,” the insider told Radar. “Kathy is extremely low-maintenance, and doesn’t need to pay people to follow her around all day.”

“Tapings of Fashion Police were awful because Giuliana constantly needed to have her make-up re-touched,” the insider revealed. “Her face was always in front of a mirror. Kathy wanted to turn it into a skit for her comedy act!”

“Giuliana was always seeking approval and compliments from the crew of Fashion Police,” the source continued. “And if she wasn’t being validated, there were tears. This is a grown woman, not a teenager.”

According to the source, if anyone deserved the VIP treatment, it was Griffin.

“What is Giuliana’s talent exactly? She interviews celebrities on the red carpet, big deal. Kathy is actually a very established and funny comedienne,” the source said. “When was the last time Giuliana sold out a venue, as Kathy does when she performs?”

Griffin will be focusing on her road show in upcoming weeks since she quit Fashion Police Thursday night.

Admitting she was not on board with the show’s “creative direction,” she called out the occasional body shaming that came with the couture critiques.

“There is plenty to make fun of in pop culture without bringing people’s bodies into it,” Griffin said. “I do not want to use my comedy to contribute to a culture of unattainable perfectionism and intolerance towards difference.”

The source explained, “Kathy just thought the environment at Fashion Police was very toxic, and felt like something from Mean Girls. It was very cliquish, and Kathy always felt like the outsider. She just didn’t want to put up with it anymore, and quit.”
