Who do you think should, or will win the Oscar for Best Picture? If y'all pick Avatar, then so help me...I will delete this thread so damn fast!! Kidding....I'm so kidding. :4biggrin:

I picked District 9 because 1) it's the only one I've seen; 2) I loved it; and 3) it doesn't have a shot in hell.

Realistically, I think it will probably be The Hurt Locker.

Bobby - where have you been lately???!!

I've been so swamped at work. I miss this place and posting stuff... :1smile:

I hoped it was work not anything more serious :-) I also hope it's slowed down some so you can come back and join the snark. Especially with the Oscars coming up!

Thanks, Hoya. No, there is nothing too serious at the moment...work is gradually slowing down(thank goodness). I've noticed the whole board has slowed down to some degree. But, I'll still be popping in and out when I can. ;)

Thank god Avatar isn't winning, but if it was, I really think you should delete the poll.

ETA...I know they say the Oscar's are about being for the Best Pictures or best performances...but I'm totally pulling for a female director to win(finally) or Leah Daniels for Precious.

I think Hurt Locker will win (and I enjoyed it), but my favorite of the 5 of the 10 nominees I actually saw was District 9. James C will never get my $15 for his craptastic looking movie!

Don't shoot me but I would have voted for Avatar.

But congrats to Hurt Locker. It was great to see the cast of three up on stage sharing the moment of glory. And wow, Cameron's ex-wife wins over him?! You go girl!

I rather enjoyed the irony of Sandra Bullock's heartfelt speech about growing up with the lesson that there are no color barriers, no gender or class barriers and that everyone deserves love... then Barbra Streisand immediately on stage after that to present best director (and why did she present it?) has to distinguish that the best director could make Academy history by either being a woman or an African American. "Hurt Locker" did surprisingly well. And I like that Cameron's ex-wife was seated in front of him too.

I told my husband last night I felt bad for Bigelow because this entire season - amid her glorious achievement, she is ALWAYS introduced as Cameron's ex-wife. How annoying!!!!Though I must say, Cameron was fairly kind & inclusive in talking with Ryan Seacrest on the red carpet about how they're proud of her accomplishments and both had looked at each other's films during creation etc. I sort of expected him to be a much larger prick about it. Kind of how Reitman & Cameron studiously avoided each other on the red carpet....

I agree he was nice -- his wife looked like death in a gown however.
