people.comFRIDAY, JULY 2: Whitney Houston has become more famous in recent years for her personal woes than for her music. But the six-time Grammy winner is hoping to change all that, teaming up with Natalie Cole and cousin Dionne Warwick for their Soul Divas tour in Germany. The four-date jaunt will include stops in Berlin, Hamburg and Munich. (Houston, who underwent a 30-day stint in rehab in May, has already received some David Hasselhoff-style love from the Germans, picking up a lifetime achievement award at the Women's World Awards there.) On July 22, Houston will then hop over to China, making her debut in that country with a performance in Shanghai.

Houston Pulls Plug on Berlin Gig

imdb.com

Pop superstar Whitney Houston has axed her July 2 outdoor concert in Berlin, blaming the bad weather for her decision. The singer was scheduled to perform with Natalie Cole and her aunt Dionne Warwick at the Waldbuene open-air arena, but organizer Tchibo - a German coffee house chain - has confirmed she's pulled out of the eagerly anticipated event. Spokeswoman Stefanie Von Carlsburg says, "We had hoped for 50,000 people to come and see them." Tour bosses have assured Whitney fans none of her other German dates - in Hamburg, Munich and Oberhausen - will be affected by the bad weather Germany's experiencing, because the gigs are all taking place at indoor venues. Berlin has suffered an abnormally rainy summer so far with temperatures dipping far below the national average for the time of year.

Whitney Houston Returns in Own 'Divas' ShowThursday Jul 08, 2004 8:00am ESTBy Courtney Rubin and Stephen M. Silvermanpeople.comOfficially, Wednesday night's concert in Hamburg, Germany, was billed as the "Soul Divas": Dionne Warwick, Natalie Cole and Whitney Houston. But by evening's end, reports PEOPLE, the show belonged to Houston. The sellout crowd of 12,000 at the town's Colorline Arena cheered loudest when Houston, 40, appeared onscreen in video clips shown between sets by Warwick ? who is Houston's cousin ? and then Cole, 55, who followed the 62-year-old "Do You Know the Way to San Jose?" singer on the program. Two hours into the show, when Houston finally appeared onstage, the crowd rose to its feet."It's been such a long time since I performed in Germany ? too long, thank you," the six-time Grammy winner told fans. "It's been such a long time since I performed, period," she added with a shrug. The singer, who spent time in a substance-abuse facility in March and has not toured since 1999, was dressed in a figure-hugging silvery-gray corseted gown that she had to keep pulling up. At one point, Houston asked Warwick to entertain the audience while she scurried offstage to adjust her dress as several security guards blocked her from public view."No, the people didn't pay enough for that," Warwick hooted as she caught sight of what Houston was doing.Joked Houston as she returned center stage: "We're not gonna do a Janet Jackson here in Germany."The show was, as Warwick called it, "a trip down memory lane" for all three singers. Houston's husband, Bobby Brown, escorted her on and offstage and watched from a seat in stage left as his wife delivered her greatest hits, including "How Will I Know" and "Saving All My Love."She also pulled Brown into the spotlight for a few steps during her rendition of "I Wanna Dance with Somebody." She closed her set by kneeling in the center of the stage, as if in prayer, before suddenly popping up and blowing kisses goodbye. She returned 15 minutes later for a finale with Cole and Warwick ? the only time all three "soul divas" appeared together. Their song: "That's What Friends Are For."The German mini-tour will continue Friday in Munich, and on July 22 Houston will make her Chinese debut in Shanghai.

R&B star Akon is giving Whitney Houston a boost as she plans a major comeback-he has agreed to work on her more "uptempo" numbers. Houston has been planning her comeback album for more than a year and has been working on it with mentor Clive Davis. Akon has confirmed he's part of the diva's studio team. He says, "I'm working on more uptempo records for her. She's been through a lot and has a dark history. So we've got to make the album brighter because she's come out of the cave now. "She wants a celebration. She needs to come back to the old Whitney we remember."

New Whitney Houston album set for holiday release

Whitney Houston will release her first album of original material since 2002 later this year, BMG Label Group chairman/CEO Clive Davis said Thursday.

Four songs have been completed for the as-yet-untitled project, and four more will be put to tape later this month, Davis said during Billboard's Music & Money Symposium at New York's St. Regis Hotel.

"We're on track for a holiday release," he said. "We're not going to compromise who she is to fit into today's hip-hop radio market. The public wants Whitney material."

Tracks earmarked for the album have been produced or written by Black Eyed Peas singer will.i.am, producer/songwriter Sean Garrett and R&B singer Akon.

Houston, 44, has been dogged in recent years by drug and health issues -- including rehab stints in 2004 and 2005 -- a legal dispute with her father, John Houston, rumored financial problems and a troubled marriage to fellow singer Bobby Brown that ended in divorce.

Her last album, "Just Whitney," debuted at No. 9 on the Billboard 200 in December 2002, and quickly slipped down the rankings. It was her first release since 1998's "My Love Is Your Love."

Dionne Warwick: Whitney Houston Will Overcome Everything

With a new album in the works, Whitney Houston is standing strong against allegations from ex-husband Bobby Brown, says Houston's aunt, soul singer Dionne Warrick.

"Whitney Houston is back!" Warrick told PEOPLE before taking the stage to perform some of her own songs at Muhammad Ali's Celebrity Fight Night XIV event in Phoenix on Friday night

"I'm thrilled that she's in the studio and working on her new album," Warwick, 67, said of her niece. "No doubt she's overcoming everything that has been put in front of her even this week."

Last week, Brown, 39, dished on their marriage – making allegations of her drug use – as he promoted his autobiography due out next month.

But rumors are nothing new to Houston, 44, who was working on her new album when she heard the news, according to music mogul Clive Davis.

"She was just in the studio this week working on a song called 'Nothing But Love' when she heard of all this mess in the papers," Davis says.

Davis adds: "I'm sure that this week has been traumatic but she's committed and looking forward to her new life."

Whitney's Sex Life Put To Music

As the 44-year-old diva with the legendary voice struggles to make her comeback, both of her exes have written scandalous things about her.

Her ex-husband Bobby Brown has come out with a tell-all autobiography, "Being Bobby Brown: The Whole Truth and Nothin' But," in which he details his and Houston's drug use and addresses the rumors of her bi-sexuality.

And now her much younger lover, Ray J, 27, has written a song dissing Brown and detailing his sex life with Houston.

In Ray J's "Boyfriend," off his just-released album, "All I Feel," which debuts this week, Ray J croons, "Is that your wife, is that your shorty, well I'm her boyfriend . . . I think the problem is you don't beat it right . . . Making love is cool, just pull her hair sometimes."

The feeling between Brown and Ray J seems to be mutual. While Ray J is more blatant in his diss, Brown tries to be subtler.

In his book, Brown writes:

"For those of you who want to know, I'm aware of the fact that Whitney had been seeing Ray J, a very young R&B artist who is most famous for being the little brother of Brandy, the multi-platinum singing artist and TV star.

"Their relationship doesn't bother me. She's open to see whoever she wants to see, just like I can see who I want to see. I know the age difference between her and the little guy is 20 years, but to each his own. The only concern I had was how our daughter felt about the age difference. As long as she's cool with it, it's fine by me."

At least Whitney hasn't starred in any sex tape. Ray J shot to national attention after he marketed a sex tape of him and ex-girlfriend Kim Kardashian in flagrante.

After that video was released, with Kardashian's blessings (she also rose to fame on the wings of the tape), Ray J signed a deal with Vivid Entertainment to direct porn. When he started dating Houston, Ray J would take any opportunity to have a picture with the diva - and friends were concerned their love life would end up on the Internet, as well.

Whitney Houston's Voice Cracked Out Too?

Whitney Houston's voice is not right and it's not okay!

The diva debacle performed for 30 minutes -- for a reported $3mil -- to a sold out crowd at the Plymouth Jazz Festival Sunday. According to BV Buzz, her voice was beaucoup raspy by the third song. She was also unable hit the big finish in "I Will Always Love You."

In addition to her vocal malfunction, Bobby B's ex clearly would have lost "Are You Smarter Than A Fifth Grader," as she repeatedly shouted to the crowd, "I Love you, Trinidad!" She was actually in Tobago.

Whitney Houston's Triumphant Comeback

Whitney Houston made her stage comeback at a pre-Grammys party on Saturday (07.02.09).

The 45-year-old singer looked in good health as she performed in a figure-hugging animal print dress at the 2009 Grammy Salute to Industry Icons show, in honour of record industry boss Clive Davis.

Her return to the stage has been hailed a triumph, with Whitney - who has publicly battled addition to crack-cocaine and endured a bitter break-up from singer Bobby Brown - told the crowd "I got it! I got it!" before launching into her hits 'I'm Every Woman' and 'I Will Always Love You'.

Actor-and-singer Jamie Foxx praised Whitney's singing, saying: "We all crossed our fingers that her beautiful story would end happily. This is a new beginning."

The show also featured performances from Rod Stewart, Leona Lewis, Kelly Clarkson and Jennifer Hudson - who only recently returned to performing after the tragic murder of her mother, brother and nephew last year.

Whitney previously confessed to having substance abuse problems, telling US broadcaster Diane Sawyer: "I don't like to think of myself addicted. I had a bad habit which can be broken. I'm not going to tell you I'm somebody's junkie. My business is sex, drugs, rock and roll. Trust me. I partied my tail off."

So why is it we aren't really hearing any music from her? Is she recording anything? Seems like there hasn't really been much of anything from her since she broke away from her junkie ex and cleaned herself up (she did, didn't she?)--wonder why she doesn't come out and sing for us. Performing at an industry pre-grammy party doesn't count.

Bringing Whitney Houston Back

by Parade.com

Wednesday March 04, 2009, 11:00 PM

Move over Britney, Whitney Houston is ready to take the title of comeback queen. And David Foster, the legendary hit-maker for stars ranging from Barbra Streisand and Celine Dion to Madonna and Michael Jackson, is finally talking about his reunion with the superstar.

Foster collaborated with Houston on the blockbuster soundtrack single "I Will Always Love You." He knows fans are wondering if she's ready to resume her hugely successful career after years battling her personal demons.

Q: You and Whitney are finally together again. How is she doing?

David Foster: I was in the studio with her last week. She's in great shape and she looks good. We have this fantastic song that Diane Warren wrote and we went in and recorded it. It went really well. Her work ethic was exactly the way it was when we did the song for The Bodyguard. She worked incredibly hard for two nights and we came up with something really good.

Q: Whitney has been through some tough times. Do you think she has her life and career back on track?

DF: I think she's going to have a great album out within the year. Whitney is a girl that everybody would like to see come back and, in this case, it really would be a comeback. A lot of people say, 'Come back? I never left.' But Whitney did leave and she hasn't recorded in about 10 years, I believe. So this truly would be a comeback.

Songwriter Diane Warren had something to say about the the song she wrote for Houston.

Q: What's the song about, Diane?

Diane Warren: I don't usually write music with someone in mind. But I set out to write this song specifically for Whitney and it's called "I Didn't Know My Own Strength." It definitely touches on her life, but I think a lot of people will relate to it because they've gone through hard times too.

Q: How was her performance?

DW: I was praying that Whitney was going to be able to nail it and she exceeded my expectations. She sang the s*** out of that song. Seriously, it was amazing. I'll tell you something, Whitney is back. Let there be no doubt.

Whitney Houston ‘Lied to Oprah’

Whitney Houston’s exclusive interview with chat show queen Oprah Winfrey was full of lies — because the star was desperate to drum up sales for her new album, it has been claimed.

The pop superstar spoke with Oprah about her lengthy battle with drug addiction but insiders have told American tabloid the National Enquirer that Whitney’s appearance on the talk show was just a big publicity stunt.

“It looked like Whitney had been coached before she went on camera,” a source said. “She talked in an odd whisper and was tripping over her own lies.”

“Whitney’s interview with Oprah was just a fraud,” said another source. “I think Whitney was lying through her teeth.”

Atlanta-based body language expert Patti Wood, author of Success Signals: Understanding Body Language, told the Enquirer that Whitney’s bizarre response when Oprah asked if she was now drug-free was a dead giveaway that the Queen of The Night hitmaker wasn’t being truthful.

After blurting out “Yes, ma’am,” Whitney “paused significantly and her voice became stilted” in response to the question, Wood observed.

“She blinked her eyes, which means she went into a retreat mode,” Wood said. “And she balled her hands into fists and brought them to her chest as if she were beating herself up.

“She knew what she was saying was not the truth.”

Ray J Hints At Future Love With Houston

R&B star RAY J has hinted he could rekindle his romance with WHITNEY HOUSTON, explaining the pair "understand each other".

The stars shocked showbiz in 2007 when it was revealed they were secretly dating - an on/off relationship that is rumoured to have continued until this year (09).

The singers have gone their separate ways for now, while Houston, 46, masterminds her comeback and Ray J, 28, promotes the second season of his dating show For the Love of Ray J.

But the star - who famously shot a sex tape with socialite Kim Kardashian - insists they're still close.

He tells Us Weekly magazine, "We still hang out, we're friends."

And he hints their close bond means a romance is always on the cards: "We understand each other and always will."

Whitney Houston's Property Loss

Whitney Houston is selling her old marital home.

The 'I Will Always Love You' singer is selling the luxury five-bedroom property - where she wed Bobby Brown in 1992 - in New Jersey for just $2.5 million, less than half its estimated worth of $5.6 million.

The 46-year-old singer - who currently lives in Los Angeles with daughter Bobbi after divorcing Bobby in 2007 - hasn't lived in the house for some time.

During the last years of their marriage, Whitney and Bobby were based in Atlanta.

She nearly lost the house - which boasts a four-car garage, three fireplaces, walk-in closets, a bar and skylights and floor-to-ceiling windows - in 2006 after a combination of failing to pay taxes and her being sued for $1.04 million by her mortgage company. The lawsuit was eventually resolved.

Whitney is not the only star set to lose money on a property sale.

British singer Robbie Williams is selling his lavish estate in Wiltshire, UK, for £1 million less than he paid for it.

After just eight months in England, the 'Bodies' hitmaker and his girlfriend Ayda Field - who bought the 18th century Wiltshire house for £8.5 million in February - have slashed the estate's price so they can get back to sunny Los Angeles as quickly as possible.

An insider said: "Robbie is desperate to get things moving quickly rather than hang around just to get a bit more money. Being settled back in the States quickly with Ayda is more important to him.

"He's already got a few people interested in the mansion."

Encouraging Parent Whitney Houston

Whitney Houston wants her daughter to be able to express herself.

The 'I Look To You' singer admits 16-year-old Bobbi Kristina takes after her father Bobby Brown in the personality stakes and believes it's important for her to let her real feelings be known.

Whitney - who is divorced from Bobby - said: "It's funny because her body is mine, her skin colour is mine, but she says exactly what's on her mind, so she's like her father in that manner. These kids, man, they come out and just let you know right off. But I think it's a very important thing to allow our children to express themselves so it won't be expressed in other areas, like on the street. If she's angry, I allow her to say, 'Damn! I'm so frustrated today!' "

Like any mother and teenage daughter, Whitney admits they do sometimes argue but Bobbi knows she can rely on her mother to be there for her no matter what.

She added to America's InStyle magazine: "We have our moments when we clash, but we have a good relationship. I want her to count on me to try to understand what she's going through. No damnation, no condemnation, nothing that's going to make her feel like she can't come to me."

Houston Eyes will.i.am Collaboration

Whitney Houston has revealed that she wants to work with will.i.am on her next album.

The 'Nothin But Love' singer is keen to collaborate with will.i.am after his recent chart success, reports The Mirror.

"Of any current stars that are around right now, I would love to work with will.i.am. He is always at the top of my list," she is quoted as saying.

Houston announced earlier today that the opening date of the European leg of her world tour, which was due to take place in Paris tonight, has been postponed due to a respiratory infection.

The next concert in the tour, scheduled for Manchester on Thursday, is still scheduled to go ahead.

Whitney Houston Takes Center Stage at Pre-Grammy Party

By Reagan Alexander

Friday February 10, 2012 12:30 PM EST

people.com

With this coming Sunday's awards night igniting Grammy fever throughout L.A., Whitney Houston was among the revelers having a grand old time at Thursday's "Kelly Price & Friends Unplugged: For The Love Of R&B Grammy Party" at Tru Hollywood.

The singer, herself a six-time Grammy winner, made her entrance two hours after the party got going, emerging from a Cadillac Escalade in a snug black cocktail gown with a plunging neckline.

Among her large party was her daughter Bobbi Kristina Brown, 19, and the two clutched hands on the red carpet before hastily heading inside the venue.

Inside, sitting within the VIP area with Bobbi Kristina and a large group, Houston, 48, seemed to be in great spirits. Shortly after 11 p.m., she had her hands in the air and was dancing to the R&B group Bell Biv Devoe's "Poison."

Moments later, El DeBarge, 50, arrived and, after making a beeline to Houston's table, the two shared a joyous hug.

Introducing her daughter to everyone who stopped by during the course of the night, Houston looked to be having a very happy time, before zipping off to what was said to be an even more private area of the club.

The 54th Annual Grammy Awards air Sunday on CBS at 8 p.m. ET/PT from the Staples Center in Los Angeles.

Just me, or are they making it sound like she was plastered?? The bolding in the above article is mine.....
