^^Yeah, she's been doing that since she we started posting her items here and discovering their inaccuracies. She copy pasted one of my posts here once criticizing her on her site and pretended it was a "letter." It was pretty much my post criticizing her sources, word for word. Do you happen to know when that happened? I'd love to go back and see how she copied your "letter" on her site. |

I don't remember, ages ago (months? a year?) but i think it's in this thread somewhere.

It's cause she's so vicious. That's part of the reason I loathe her so much. At least Ted tries to keep it somewhat lighthearted and humorous even when spearing celebrities. Lainey straight out attacks them maliciously. I think the woman needs some help. Exactly. She picks someone and then literaly picks on them as if it was some high school competition. Try doing a search on Keira Knightley on her site for example, and read the eraly writtings Lainey did on her. VICIOUS. It's as if Keira was like the devil or something. It is unprofessional. It is WAY too biased. The good thing about reading a gossip blog is taking your own conclusions based on what's given to you. Lainey chews it all up and vomits on you as if whatever she says is the absolut truth. And by the way, she's WAY too far from Hollywood to be able to give decent information. I know distance shouldn't be a problem, but who would you think would have more accurate, up-to-date info, someone in Toronto, or someone walking the streets of LA? |

To give her a little credit some of her information is accurate no matter where it came from. I agree someone in LA may know a little more than her, but on the same accord we would have to apply the same theory to NY gossip columns that run items about West Coast celebs.

Lainey's in Vancouver - where a lot of shows and movies shoot. It's very useful to have on-location info. You know how the celebs like to act up when they're "out of town" and out of sight. She also has sources in Toronto and Montreal, where lots of US films shoot. She's friends with Perez and uses him as a source quite often, though he is not her only Hollywood connection. I'm not entirely clear on why people have such an issue with her, though I've read some of the comments. I think she gets a lot of stick from people because she's relatively new. As for stealing items - they all do it all the time. The same stories eventually make everyone's column, with whatever spin the columnist puts on them. To me, Lainey's not that bad. I certainly don't find her worse than Perez, with his vile little vendettas. |

Lainey also has quite a few followers in LA who send in information when they can. It doesnt seem to much matter where a gossip columnist lives as long as the sources are well-situated.
I also like the fact that an Asian woman is doing so well in a field dominated by white men. Ted is still "It" but Lainey has a big fan base and I think that's cool I am disgusted and offended on behalf of other chit-chatters who had posts stolen and written up as "letters" on her site. That's inexcusable. But, I do continue to read her stuff, second, after Eonline Awful Truth each day. |

I think it's weird that Lainey took comments from here and made like they were sent to her. It seems very odd. Did she respond to them in any way or just print them as written? You are much more dedicated than I am - I don't read any column every single day, not even Ted's. I also don't watch much entertainment tv, so I think I miss a lot of whatever is showing up there. I hear about a lot of stories, but miss some too. Every once in a while something will catch me completely off-guard and I'm all: WHAT?!? OMG! When everyone else has been gabbing about it for days. |

I have always seriously doubted that Lainey has one serious so-called 'source' anywhere. She probably browses the usenet gossip groups and a plethora of other posting boards.

I have always seriously doubted that Lainey has one serious so-called 'source' anywhere. She probably browses the usenet gossip groups and a plethora of other posting boards. I know for a fact that Lainey has at least two sources who consistently work on US films shooting in Vancouver. She gets some good stuff from them, but she's not the only one. It's perfectly okay to dislike her spin/perspective, we all have our faves and fouls in gossip. |

OMG I keep forgetting to post this every time someone brings Lainey up, but do you know who she has ALWAYS reminded me of, in tone and content? That satirical, three-steps-behind gossip columinst from the Onion. Have you guys read him? I am going to go and find one of his columns and post it here. This reminds me of Lainey and it's also just really funny. Especially funny since this column actually predates all the Lainey-types on the Internet.
THE OUTSIDE SCOOP by Jackie Harvey from the Onion http://www.theonion.com/content/node/37316 QUOTE Item! I've been researching one of my favorite actresses. You may know her as Kelly Bundy, but her real name is Kristina Applegate. She's always been a shining example of an acting triple threat: brains, beauty, and a great sense of humor. That's why I could hardly believe my discovery, but I checked and double-checked the evidence, and there was no denying the unsettling box-office phenomenon I christened The Kristina Applegate Curse. We little guys all think of Kristina as celebrity dynamite, but she's actually, at best, a firecracker. How do I know it? Let me set the scene. After seeing the underrated Surviving Christmas, I went on the Internet line, just to make sure I hadn't overlooked any of Kristina's work. What a surprise I was in for! It turns out I hadn't even scratched the surface. Her résumé read like a Top 10 list of flops. Surviving Christmas was a lump of coal, business-wise. Employee Of The Month? Never heard of it. View From The Top? Crashed on landing. All these movies had star power out the wazoo, so there was no reason they should've tanked. I double-checked the Harvey research, and sure enough, these movies all had one common element: Kristina.
Fine, Anchor Men was a success. But it's the exception that proves the rule: Applegate is box-office poison. Let's hope the right project comes along and breaks the curse. She's too cute to be an utter failure. Item! Speaking of the underrated Surviving Christmas... Go see it! It's a fun family romp everyone will enjoy! As a member of the media, I do my darnedest to spread the word about those movies and shows you, the busy consumer, may have overlooked. This is why I'm launching my new feature, Second Looks With Jackie Harvey. This week, I'd like to humbly direct people's attention to a movie that had all the right stuff, but for reasons no one can explain, never took off. What movie is that? That movie is Taxi, with Queen Levitra and Jimmy Fallen! Taxi has it all. It's a buddy comedy with Jimmy as a cop who can't drive and Queen as a taxi driver who can. Using her car, Queen helps Jimmy track down a drug dealer. Or killer. I have to watch it again to figure out which one it is. It really doesn't matter, since it's all just a backdrop for the sexual tension between the two fishes out of water. (Ka-pow! When are those two going to get it on?) Laughs get a green light in this automotive thrill ride through Harvey-hometown New York City! The election is over, so now we can get back to having fun—or so I thought! I was watching CSI the other night, and right at the climax, they interrupted the show to tell me that Yessir Afarat was dead. Sure, it's news, and it's very tragic news, and I am not one to celebrate death, but listen, buddy: When I want the news, I watch the news. Save your interruptions for the reruns, networks! Sometimes, I am way ahead of the curve. Susan Powder? I predicted she'd go bankrupt weeks before she announced it. Tara Lipinski? Saw it coming at the pre-Olympic trials. Carson Daley and teeth? I don't know. The other night, I wrote down "Carson Daley and teeth," and then I got lost roaming the Internet for several hours and forgot about it. When I sat down to write this column, I found it written down at my desk: "Carson Daley and teeth." I have no idea what I was going to say about one or the other, let alone both. Carson's teeth are nice, as far as I can see. They are a nice hue, and they are nicely proportioned to his mouth—but all celebrities have nice teeth. Except Peter Gallager; he's a little cappy. My choppers are pretty good, and I've never even had braces, not to brag. Anyway, if you read an article about Carson Daley's teeth, just remember: You heard it here first! Item! The other Hilton—not Paris, but the other one—and her husband got an annulment after only three months. This is sad news for those of us who had hoped that she would make Paris think, "Oh, what a mess I've made of my life while my less-famous sister has done so well for herself!" Now, the trap door has been opened, and they're both on a chute to the same basement laundry facility where all the hotel towels go. On the other hand, that other Hilton is pretty cute... Fellas, start your romance engines! For every storm there is a rainbow, and the yin to the Hilton yang is Star Jones, who, after teasing us for months—almost to the point where I was ready for the divorce!—made an honest man of Al Roynolds in a fairytale wedding that will be remembered for weeks to come. I have it on good authority that Al worked at the bank that Star uses for her personal account, and that the two love-doves met when she brought in a jam-jar full of nickels to deposit. They made small talk while the sorter counted out the amount ($13.70), and before you know it, a love connection was made. From pocket change to major lifestyle changes, I give the couple a hearty Outside Scoop congratulations! Winter is coming and so is snow. So now I have to get myself some snow boots. When I was a kid, I had to carry my shoes to school with me and slip plastic bread bags over my socks before I put on my snowmobile boots to keep my feet dry. Do they make those boots in adult sizes? I think it would be fun to wear them again. As a special treat, take a peak at the Harvey Things-To-See-Or-Places-To-Dine List! 1. Desperate Housewives—it's the No. 1 new show for a reason, right? 2. Ray—there's a lot of Oscar™ buzz surrounding star Jamie Fox for his turn as of boxer Sugar Ray Leonard. 3. The Incredibles—I love hero stories. 4. Outback Steak House—combines my three loves: Australia, ribeye steaks, and theme restaurants. Well, that's all the room we have for now. I had more thoughtful essays than I did gossip this time around, so I promise a ton of juicy morsels next time. Just to get the juices flowing, what Soprannoes star may be following Andrea DeMatteao to the show Joey? Plus, I'll ask the tough question that no one wants to ask about Scott Peterson: killer or monster? All that next time... on the Outside! Would any of us give Ted any legitimacy if he ran his column from Mexico? You're relatively new on this site, but it has been posted(proven) that she has stolen from here. That's another issue a lot of us have. I also live in Los Angeles and yes, the town basically runs on industry gossip. Gossip from Mexico is only valid if it's from the set of something shooting in Mexico. (Telenovela fans may disagree there - dunno.) So, please feel free to disregard this information in favor of your own sources, but I personally know two people who work shoots in Vancouver and they send Lainey some decent stuff. I'm relatively new to this site, but certainly no newbie to the gossip game - on and offline. I've been at it since before the internets had GUI. I have no dispute with stories about Lainey stealing items from this site, nor any other. Doubtless she did and maybe she still does. My point is that they all steal items from wherever they can get them and spin them the way they want to for their own columns. It may piss people off - and rightly so - but it's not particularly shocking or even mildly surprising, you know? |

I also think it's outrageous for anyone to steal from us, since she calls her self reputable and reliable. So to me it makes a legitimate dent if we believe her or not...since we aren't the gossip experts nor proclaim ourselves to be. I'm not buying everyone steals from everyone, especially when we have had the original wisdom of Ted, some stories by National Enquirer, Pagesix, when we find out they are true...directly or indirectly. Basically, she's the supposed expert from Canada stealing from us novices. She's doing friggin' gossip from Canada...that's an oxymoron. I'm waiting from someone in Alaska to do a gossip column. -------------------- Bobbyd - noun - Poster who's posts are labeled as Jerkish or Boorish. Not a fan-i-cus of celebri-ti-cus.
