Minnie's Mr. Right
imdb.com
Unlucky-in-love actress Minnie Driver has finally found her perfect man - and he's a dashing music mogul. Just weeks after splitting from American tennis ace Robby Ginepri, the stylish Good Will Hunting star met record company exec Rob Walker at a London show by The Neptunes, who Rob manages. And the 33-year-old was instantly smitten. A source says, "They chatted throughout the gig. He asked her to come to after-show party and they were soon holding hands and stealing kisses. Rob even managed to entice her back to his hotel room for a nightcap. She is taking to slowly. After all, she's had lots of bad luck with men. But she's also very excited." And it seems Minnie, who has previously dated Matt Damon and Harrison Ford , has found a good guy - a friend of Rob's says, "When he likes a lady, he makes her feel like a million bucks. He's had his share of heartache so he knows how to tread carefully. And he's thrilled to be romancing one of the world's most desirable actresses."

Driver Slams Sweatshops
Mon, Feb 09, 2004, 12:02 PM PT
LOS ANGELES (Zap2it.com) - Minnie Driver has seen the light. The statuesque actress, who recently visited garment factories in Thailand and Cambodia, says she was completely ignorant to the conditions that female workers in poor countries endure.
"The poorest people with the least are making sacrifices for those of us who have the most," says Driver, 33, who visited Southeast Asia as part of the British charity group Oxfam International's "Make Trade Fair" campaign, according to the AP.
Speaking from a fashion show in Phnom Penh on Sunday, Feb. 8, Driver says she wants corporate leaders to carefully consider their buying practices. Garment workers modeled clothes bearing large tags reading "Made in Cambodia ... by us ... US$0.25 per hour."
Driver garnered an Oscar nomination in 1998 for her role in "Good Will Hunting."
Richard E. Grant, Helen Fielding ("Bridget Jones's Diary"), Colin Firth, Kate Moss, Chris Martin, Bono and REM are also supporters of the Make Trade Fair Campaign.
Make Trade Fair aims to change the rules of world trade so that they no longer disadvantage the world's poorest people.
Driver will next be seen in "Ella Enchanted" and "The Phantom of the Opera" due in theaters later this year.

Before performing her first song off her debut album, "Everything I've Got in My Pocket," Driver shyly admitted to hundreds of fans that she was nervous to be making her New York singing debut. That's when someone in the back screamed, "Get a mike that works!" Driver shouted back, "Turn up your hearing aid!" ? to a huge cheer. "When I'm in New York I have to give it back a little, you know what I'm saying!"

Minnie Driver Tunes Out
by Angel Cohn
TV Guide.com
Earlier this year Minnie Driver showed off her singing talent in her debut album, Everything I've Got in My Pocket. So you'd think she'd be thrilled to do vocals for her role in Andrew Lloyd Webber's The Phantom of the Opera (opening today). Turns out, that's not the case. Although Driver delighted in playing over-the-top diva Carlotta, she left the operatic crooning to the pros.
"You have to be very realistic about approaching stuff that you don't do normally," the actress insists. "I drive a car, but I am not [Formula 1 racer] Michael Schumacher. Opera is a lifetime of training. That particular bel canto sound is not something that you just pick up and do with a couple of months' training.
"I could sing Chicago or Guys and Dolls, but this is opera," she adds. "So there was never a moment where I wished I was doing it."
That said, Driver still sings in the film ? sort of. Sir Andrew Lloyd Webber penned a brand-new tune entitled "Learn to Be Lonely," which runs over the closing credits. "I was super-stoked to do the song at the end," she enthuses. "Andrew wrote this beautiful song and asked me to sing it, so that was great."
Driver harbored one secret she was hesitant to tell Phantom's legendary composer: She'd never actually seen the long-running musical. "I don't think that was the first thing I said to him," she laughs. "I'm not a musical-theater person. I saw Cats when I was a little girl, but I grew up in the Caribbean; we had The Sound of Music playing at the drive-in [in Barbados] for a year. So I didn't really grow up around that."

Trust us, we tried really hard not to like Minnie Driver the "musician". But, we never really gave her a chance, much less watched her perform...until this week.
Driver took to the stage at the Levis house in Sundance this week, performing a very intimate, acoustic set of her alt-country tunes in front of such friends of hers as Timothy Hutton and Sharon Lawrence (pictured below).
Strumming her guitar, Driver genuinely displayed great presence, a natural singing voice and tons of humor. We give mad props to any woman that makes fun of her ex-boyfriend's dead mother! Bitch melted our skeptical heart!
Minnie and Perez bonded over our shared love of Imogen Heap and fashion; Driver was very proud of her fierce purple boots that she scored in Downtown LA for just $12. Deal!

Sucks To Be Minnie DriverPublished by Alyk May 16th, 2007 in Cameron DiazAfter being dumped by Matt Damon on the Oprah Winfrey Show, you wouldn’t think Minnie Driver’s love life could get much worse. Well, apparently it can; Minnie’s fiancee, cheesy-ass magician Criss Angel, reportedly hooked up with Cameron Diaz last weekend in Las Vegas. Minnie’s friends claimed the actress is devastated.
Minnie and Mindfreak became engaged last September in Mexico, but marriage appeared to be off the table after Criss was spotted “cuddling and snuggling” with Cameron in public Monday night.
But while Angel and Miss Diaz were the picture of happiness, Miss Driver is said to be devastated after being jilted for the third time.
One close friend admitted: “I really can’t believe this has happened to her again.
“It’s so cruel and she doesn’t deserve it, she’s a great girl but she always seems to pick the wrong guy.
“I was so happy for her when I heard back in September that Criss had proposed " she’s 37 and she was very ready to settle down and start a family before it’s too late. Now I am worried that she will give up on men forever.”
Minnie was previously engaged in 2001 to Josh Brolin, but broke it off shortly before the wedding. Interference by Josh’s nosy stepmom, Barbara Streissand, allegedly played a role in the split.

To Diva And Lie In LAA mole's friend was an A&R man in LA during the late nineties. He was contacted by an agent who asked him to come and see this actress who had a marvellous singing voice and was looking to expand her musical career. The A&R man had heard rumours of her horrible yelpings in the past but still gave her a chance and went to see the actress in concert in a tiny LA bar.
And she was predictably terrible, with a voice like nails being scraped down a blackboard, no stage presence and an uncanny ability to hit almost every note not required at the present time. He contacted her agent to pass on his condolences and inform him that he would rather try to nail water to a sponge for all eternity than see music murdered in such a way again.
A few months later the A&R man was invited on a 'totally blind' date - no names or occupations supplied, just a table number in a restaurant. His heart sank when his date walked in; it was the very same actress/singer. They sat down together and before he could introduce himself she launched into an impassioned 20 minute speech about how wonderful she was, how she was about to give Madonna a run for her money and how she was in advanced negotiations with Mr X, a top A&R man who loved her work and truly believed her to be a genius.
Eventually, she paused to draw breath and asked her dinner date what he did for a living.
"Actually," said Mr. X, "I'm an A&R man..."
And several minutes later Minnie Driver left the restaurant in search of her recently-fled dignity.

Abrupt finale for 'Dirt,' 'Riches'
By Nellie Andreeva
Feb 7, 2008
There will be less "Dirt" and "Riches" on FX's schedule this year.
In a sign of what's in store for the series -- whose production was impacted by the writers strike -- FX has opted not to produce more episodes of the two series' second seasons.
"Dirt," from ABC Studios, and "The Riches," from Fox TV Studios, ceased production in December after completing seven episodes as they ran out of scripts.
With an end to the writers strike in sight, one of the biggest dilemmas networks are facing is whether to resume production on all of their series that had been idled by the work stoppage and how many additional episodes to order of the shows they opt to bring back this season.
It is understood that FX's decision to cut back the episode order on "Dirt" and "Riches" stems from economic reasons and does not affect the two series' chances for a third-season renewal. The cable network already has launched a marketing campaign for the March 2 premiere of "Dirt," starring Courteney Cox. The launch date for "Riches," starring Eddie Izzard, will be announced next week.
Still, abruptly cutting story lines midway through the season will have to be frustrating for the fans as well as for the series' creators who had a lot riding on Season 2.
Neither "Dirt" or "Riches" was a breakout hit in their debuts a year ago. The network brass did a lot of crunching of cume ratings numbers before renewing both series in May.

Minnie Driver Auctions Off Lunch Date
British actress Minnie Driver is auctioning off a $100,000 lunch date as part of an upcoming charity auction. As part of a joint promotional venture between Driver's hit TV show The Riches and one of her favorite charities, Oxfam America, Driver is offering to join a fan for a meal.
Driver will put herself on the auction block on eBay's "The Riches Charity Auction," which will run for 10 days beginning March 13. The winning bidder will get the cash and an opportunity to meet Driver over lunch.
The auction marks a first for eBay - the website has never offered up such a large sum of money. The top bidder will also receive memorabilia from The Riches, in which Driver stars with Eddie Izzard. All proceeds from the winning bid will be donated to Oxfam America. Driver is an ambassador for the charity.
Driver isn't the only star offering herself up for auction; Scarlett Johansson is also hoping to raise cash for Oxfam by offering a fan the chance to accompany her to the premiere of her next movie He's Just Not That Into You in Los Angeles in June 2009. Minnie Driver Expecting Her First Child
By Stephen M. Silverman
Minnie Driver is expecting her first child, joking her morning sickness is so bad it actually occurs "morning, noon and night."
Driver, 38, revealed her pregnancy Thursday on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno after Leno quipped that it looked like she had gained weight from too many trips to the Hometown Buffet.
"Are you calling me fat? You've noticed my tummy, haven't you?" Driver asked.
"Are you pregnant?" Leno asked.
"Yes, I am," the actress said.
Driver said that she loves being pregnant, "more than anything else," but acknowledged, "I am sick."
"I don't know why they call it morning sickness," she said. "I am sick morning, noon and night, but it's a fair trade-off."
The British-born, Emmy-nominated actress did not say who the father was.
She dated her Good Will Hunting costar Matt Damon in the late 1990s, then was engaged to Josh Brolin in 2001 and was linked last year to illusionist Criss Angel.
When her second album, Seastories, was released last summer, she told PEOPLE, "Much of this album is about someone who I loved very much and still have a great, wonderful friendship with even though it didn't work out."
She did not identify specifically who that inspiration might have been.

Minnie Driver's Baby Name Dilemma
Originally posted Friday March 14, 2008 12:30 PM EDT
Minnie Driver announced her pregnancy on The Tonight Show – and now she's chatting with Ellen DeGeneres about the biggest dilemma facing her right now: what to name her baby.
"I have a pretty silly name," the Riches star says on an episode of the Ellen DeGeneres Show scheduled to air Monday. "Driver is kind of a hard name to put with a first name, particularly boys names … My friend sent me an email saying I should call the baby Duncan Driver. Then I can call it Dunk Driver, Pile Driver, Rally Driver."
Joked DeGeneres: "So you’re hoping for a girl, you're saying."
"I'm hoping for a girl," Driver answered. "I think it's a girl. Most of the women in my family get super girthy early on and I've got to say that's why I have this nice chiffon dress on. I'm fat. "
Already "four [months] and a bit" along in her pregnancy, Driver, 38, tells DeGeneres why she waited to reveal it – even as speculation grew. "I didn't do an announcement because I'm not really an announcement girl," she said. "I'm wearing red knickers. I'm also having a child, not really my thing. So I didn't say anything."
Another thing Driver did not mention: The father of her baby.

Minnie Driver: Pregnancy Will Be 'Fat and Happy'
By Nicholas White
She may be months away from giving birth, but first time mom-to-be Minnie Driver is already bracing for those sleepless nights.
"I'm going to be a very tired mother, I'm sure!" Driver told PEOPLE at the season-two premiere of The Riches in West Hollywood Sunday.
"No, I'm going to be happy," she corrected. "I'm going to be a happy mother."
The 38-year-old has a busy couple of months coming up – she's releasing her album, Seastories in the U.K. and touring Europe, Hawaii and L.A.
But after that, Drivers says, she'll be logging plenty of pre-baby R 'n R. "I'm just going to have the summer to be fat and happy," she said.
Driver announced her pregnancy last week on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, joked about baby names with Ellen DeGeneres, and said she is four months along – but has not named the father.
The actress, wearing a black, body-hugging Calvin Klein dress and lavender wrap, came solo to Tuesday's premiere (her first public event since announcing the pregnancy). During the afterparty at the Pacific Design Center's Red Seven restaurant she laughed with friends and sipped water while munching on appetizers.
On the red carpet, costar Eddie Izzard told PEOPLE Driver will be a great mom.
"As long as there is one parent there that is giving love, then the kid is going to do great," Izzard said. "I think she'll be a good mom because it needs love."
Added fellow cast member Todd Stashwick: "She's got a heart as big as the world. I think that could only [benefit] her children."

Pregnant Minnie Driver Expects Great Things from The Riches
All eyes were on mom-to-be Minnie Driver at the Season 2 premiere of the FX drama The Riches, held Sunday night at the Pacific Design Center in West Hollywood. Dressed in a form-fitting navy Calvin Klein dress that showed off her small baby bump, Driver was all smiles as she talked baby with TV Guide. The actress told us that she has no plans to find out the sex of the child until she gives birth, and that she's dealing with both exhaustion and morning sickness — but still couldn't be happier. "I'm sick as a dog, absolutely horrific, but so happy and... so into it. I don't care about getting fat, I love it. It's fun," she said.
Driver's costars had nothing but good wishes for the actress, and all wholeheartedly agreed that she would make a terrific mother. Aidan Mitchell, who plays son Sam on the show, said of Driver, "She's going to be an amazing mom." Margo Martindale, who plays Nina, told us, "She'll be a perfect mother to a girl. Or to a boy. She's just such a girly girl, and she loves women. She's very strong and caring and nurturing."
As for what viewers can expect in the upcoming second season, all of the cast members hinted that the show will be even darker than Season 1. "Wayne's greed consumes him, and Dahlia [desires] to kind of find out who she is and somehow absolve herself of her criminal past — but obviously it's completely impossible to do that and get away with it," said Driver. "They are getting further and further away from each other as they lie to each other about what they're doing and how they're going about it."
With seven episodes making up the second season, there will be a lot of twists and turns packed into a short time. Luckily for Driver (who is due at the end of August), her pregnancy won't affect the show if it comes back for a third season. In the meantime, she's focusing on enjoying her pregnancy, and everything that comes with it. "A lot of pickles and olives. All the salty stuff," said Driver about her cravings. "But I have the sweetest tooth in the world. I could eat sweets and cakes and pastries forever. But I can barely get them down now."
Bridget Moynahan and Rumer Willis, escorted by Dirt cast member Ryan Eggold, also attended the screening.

Pregnant Minnie Driver: Due in August!Monday April 7, 2008
usmagazine

Summer will be especially sweet for mom-to-be Minnie Driver.
"My due date's in August!" she revealed to Usmagazine.com Saturday night after performing a set from her new album Seastories at Hotel Cafe in Hollywood.
"I haven't wanted to eat as much food as I think I want to eat!" she added when asked about her cravings. "I'm not as hungry as everyone told me I'd be."
During her set, she told the crowd the toll her pregnancy had taken on her body.
"I've lost my balance — my boobs and my stomach [are huge], and you can't wear high heels unless you weight your bottom or something," she said.
"I'm sure you're all dying to know what it's like to be pregnant!" she added, joking that she planned to go on Oprah and share all the details. (See more baby bumps here.)
Driver told Us she hoped her pregnancy wouldn't get in the way of her touring.
She said she still plans to hit "France, Germany, Norway, Switzerland and England — and I'm going to do a movie with Uma Thurman!
"I'm really hoping I've got the stamina, but ... I know how to take care of myself."
