Anyone watching? I love anything to do with vampires, so I may not be the best judge, but I'm hooked.
I not crazy about the guy who plays Bill - not charasmatic enough for me. But the rest of the cast is good, especially the grandmother.
I have never read the books and I understand that people who have aren't that happy with the series. But it's good enough for me

For the love of all things Alan Ball, I gave one episode a try...but couldn't handle the bad accents and slow story.
I think there are a lot of out of work New Orleans people who probably could've made it authentic. And judging by the ratings...HBO may have another bomb on it's hands. John from Cincinnati did better...ouch.

I liked the second episode, the first was like a special vampire edition of HBO's "Real Sex"

but the series recovered nicely IMO.
I think this one is a grower, and I hope it sticks around as I am eagerly awaiting my bestest TV boyfriend [Brad from Generation Kill] to show up

I've seen the first two episodes and I'm still on board. I was a Moonlight fan too. I'm planning to continue watching but it could be a problem if it conflicts with Dexter. I love Dexter.

Unfortunately I don't have Showtime so I have to wait until Dexter comes out on dvd - I too love Dexter.

I'm still watching. Haven't made up my mind yet. Can there be too much sex? Maybe if I cared about the characters or at least knew them? Who knows. The opening song is killer but I hate the opening credit visuals. Seeing the KKK is always a turn-off. Sookie's issues as a psychic mindreader is more overwhelming to the storyline than Vampirism. She should be working for the cops and escape that one horse town....

Cydonia, I don't know if it will be available there, but a website called surfthechannel.com has lots of info as to where you can see different tv shows, movies, etc... online. You might want to check it out to see if Dexter will be accessible somewhere out there when the new season starts.

I guess this show isn't my cup of tea. It seems more like CSI-Vampire edition. I don't want to watch some goofy show about a serial killer vampire wannabe, but worse-
I don't like how the innocent pristine virgin keeps getting saved but the hot blooded independent females who are brave enough to get their swirls on keep getting killed. Older cinema staple than the vampire!

And Sookie's brother, that character, is such a horny idiot. He gets way too much screen time for my taste.

I like this show enough to give it a chance and think Stephen Moyer is SEXY HOT. But is anyone willing to give me a little background since I have not read the books?...Are the vampires able to be "nice and normal" and have relationships with humans without biting them?
And, is the bar owner a vamp? He seems like he has some sort of secret he is hiding? Thanks all.

Haven't read the books, sorry. But I am considering checking at least one book out since I'm not sure about the TV show. Also, I'm pretty sure the script writers are being "creative" with the characters from the novels.

Okay, why is the bar owner rolling around and sniffing the dead girl's sheets? Is he the dog? Or another dog? Werewolf? Just looking for speculation - if you've read the books, then please mark as spoilers.
Did you notice the picture behind the vamp bar of George Bush as a vamp biting Lady Liberty? I like all the little details they add in
crazzy
Sep 29 2008, 04:17 PM
I think the bar owner is "something"
He's out in the day so probably not a vampire but he's got a secret it seems. And Sookie can't read his thoughts. I think a werewolf is a good guess, which explains why he was sniffing the sheets. But he comes across as a good guy, not evil or edgy, so maybe whatever he is, it's not dangerous like the vamps??
Question--are the vampires able to feel emotions? Cause it seems like Bill is digging Sookie in a boyfriend kind of way, but I still don't understand what he can/can't do..?

I would love to discuss

I was very unhappy about grandma's demise, but noticed she's still in the credits. That may be good news. I don't know that Sam is the dog b/c when the dog sat besides Bill, Bill seemed like he might have known him?
And Sookie finally let Bill do the deed - the big bite

I actually can't discuss....I found a site with all the spoilers and I couldn't stop reading them so I know too much, at least if they follow the book. (like who the killer is, etc) Some thngs are still confusing: can Bill feel real emotions? If Sam is the dog, does he even know it? Why turn into a freindly looking dog? What is the point? I'm hooked on this show.

I stopped watching this show a while ago; after Jason (?) spent a whole epsiode with gigantic prick syndrome because he took too much "V" drug. I also hated the weekly murder of women theme. Thought the show surprisingly spent very little on vampire subject matter and not enough about Sookie & Bill. On a lighter note, I did find a place to buy that Bush Sucks print that was in the Vamp Bar.
See you guys on other threads. Oh, last I saw, the show comes on Sundays around 9:00 pm and it is ON DEMAND if you have cable TV so enjoy!

Maryann's orgies get a little tiring. There is not enough Eric: not only because Alexander Skarsgard is gorgeous and is a great actor but also because Eric is multi-dimensional character that demands a whole lot more time than 4-5 minutes each episodes...
On that note I will add: " I know that pig!"

I'm hooked on this show. Some speculations....Eric is after Sookie so he's sabotaging her relationship with Bill. I have no idea who or what can stand up to Mary Ann but she needs to move on. I am thinking she is getting Eggs and Tara to eat rabbit stew next week but it will really be Daphne's heart that she cut out. I did not see Daphne's death coming!

I'm probably done with this. I can definitely wait to see another episode. It used to keep me on the edge of my seat, now I don't care. This entire season was dragged out for too long. Maryann should have been one or two episodes and it turned out to be more then half a season. Extremely poor writing.
Also boo to true blood for the scene between Lafayette and Sookie, he orders her to take off her clothes and we get bra and panties, I felt as though I was watching broadcast TV. I also thought that he might force her to or rip her clothes off her or something. It could have been a real moment, and we get broadcast tv standards. I think I'm done with this show. If there was another episode to watch, I think watching paint dry might be more fun.

“True Blood” creator Alan Ball gives up the goods on Season Three
Posted: 10:46 PM ET
Don’t you hate it when you see a story about your favorite actor, TV show, or movie, and you want just one question answered, but you have to sift through unimportant crap to get what you want? Well, I’m not going to do that to you when it comes to “True Blood.” I recently had a long chat with the hit cable show’s creator, Alan Ball, and I got straight to the point early on in the interview. I asked the questions that are on everyone’s minds: What is going to happen in Season Three, AND what is up with our favorite characters — Bill, Sookie, Tara, and Sam?
Well, I won’t lie: he didn’t show me the script or give me a play-by-play of each episode in the upcoming season. BUT he did dish a little to me:
“I don’t think people will be disappointed in Season Three. We are taking everybody to some new places. We are revisiting some old relationships that maybe we thought were over. There’s going to be a lot of new characters coming in. I can tell you that you will see Werewolves. We’ll find out a little bit more about exactly what Sookie is, which is that she is not entirely human. Bill and Sookie’s relationship will be put to a serious, serious test. Sam’s gonna meet his biological family. And I think Tara will find true love eventually, but I’m not sure she will find it in Season Three. “
Season Three of “True Blood” begins filming in December, and won’t hit the screen until the middle of next year. So until then… you’ll just have to feast off of those few morsels.

I am hooked on the show but it's at the point where it can go either way. Season one was excellent. Season two spent a lot of time on two storylines that got real old, real fast IMO. During season one, I loved Bill. He was a bit wimpier in season 2 and Eric bacame the hottie.
