Robert Pattinson And Kristin Stewart, No More
Robert Pattinson has been dumped by Kristen Stewart - because he wanted to marry her.
The 19-year-old actress reportedly called time on her romance with her 'Twilight' co-star because the 23-year-old British actor was making her feel pressured and smothered.
A source told America's OK! magazine: "Robert was talking marriage but she told him they needed a break."
It has also been claimed Kristen felt their relationship was stopping her from spending time with friends and family.
The couple - who have never confirmed their romance, despite being pictured looking intimate on several occasions - were also said to have been arguing over how to continue their relationship while living in different countries.
An insider explained: "Now 'The Twilight Saga: Eclipse' has finished filming, there's been a lot of tension about the logistics of their relationship as Robert wants to go back to the UK, while Kristen prefers to stay in Los Angeles."
While filming the third movie in the series, Robert - who plays vampire Edward Cullen - had been sharing a luxury penthouse apartment with Kristen, who stars as love interest Bella Swann.
The pair had rented out the entire 34th floor of the Sheraton Wall Centre Hotel in Vancouver, Canada, at a cost of $850 a suite each night.
A source said: "They have two rooms joined by a door. They use a third suite on the floor to listen to music or watch Blu-ray movies on a large, flat screen, when they stay in after a day's shooting or on weekends.
"They're great. Every room has floor-to-ceiling windows and large, flat screen TVs and chandeliers. The baths double as Jacuzzis. And, best of all, that floor has its own butler and security. Robert and Kristen are transported to and from the set by accessing a private elevator system in the hotel that leads to a gated and guarded garage."

Kristen Stewart's Vampire Life
Kristen Stewart said being famous is "sad and desolate" like being a vampire.
The 'Twilight' actress said Edward Cullen - the vampire her alter ego Bella Swan falls in love with in the film series “gives a handy parallel with what It's like being famous.
Kristen, 19, said "Edward is actually a really good parallel for fame.
"As a vampire he has a sad, desolate life “fame is the same."
She also talked about how she doesn't understand the cult of celebrity, and is keen to avoid it all costs, so she is taken seriously as an actress.
She added: "I don't want to be a movie star like Angelina Jolie. Nothing about being a celebrity is desirable.
"I'm an actor, its bizarre to me that everybody's so obsessive."
Kirsten did, however, say she relates to her character's actions in the second instalment of the films series, 'New Moon', more since the break up of her relationship with boyfriend Michael Anagrano earlier this year.
She added: "The worst thing about a break-up is not losing someone, but being told you're wrong.
"You don't trust yourself anymore. In the first movie Bella unabashedly followed her guy. Then in the second one she's like, 'I don't know why I've done this because it's been wrong,' and that I can relate to."
'Twilight: New Moon' is released in cinemas later this month.

Robert Pattinson Calls Kristen Stewart 'A Unique Girl'
This holiday season, Harper's Bazaar is fulfilling every Twilight fan's wish list with its December cover story showcasing smoldering photos of New Moon couple Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson.
While the pair remain coy in the interview about their rumored romance (Pattinson bristled at reports that there was anything going on to Vanity Fair), there's no denying that Stewart, 19, and Pattinson, 23, have a mutual adoration of one another.
In the magazine, on newsstands Nov. 17, the actress calls Pattinson "a great singer. Heartbreaking," while the British-born actor says of his costar, "She's a unique girl. You really don't meet many people like Kristen."
And Stewart is well aware that the raw chemistry the two share on screen portraying Bella and her bloodsucking – and beyond handsome – vampire boyfriend, Edward Cullen, is rare as well. During their audition, "We had a very responsive, palpable thing," she says.
There's also a playful note to their relationship. When asked who is more romantic, Stewart immediately says Pattinson, adding, "I think romance is anything honest. As long as it's honest, it's so disarming."
When is Pattinson posed with the same question he quips, "What did Kristen say?" When he finds out that she pointed at him, he responds, "No. I'm better at faking" and unleashed a long laugh.
Soon the pair will be inciting squeals in theaters nationwide: The Twilight Saga: New Moon opens Nov. 20.

Robert Pattinson: ‘I’m Not Insecure’
ROBERT Pattinson insists he’s secure with his body.
The hunky Twilight star says he doesn’t need to flash his six-pack to get attention.
“I don’t walk around with my shirt off all the time!” Pattinson joked, poking fun at costar Taylor Lautner. “It’s like driving a fancy car — you’re insecure about something.”
Pattinson — who plays Edward Cullen in the vampire movie franchise — also gave his opinion on Twilight sequel New Moon, which hits theaters later this month.
“It’s my favorite book,” he said. “I really connected to [it] really quickly. It think it’s an improvement [on Twilight]. It was nice not being the lead.”
Pattinson, 23, recently insisted he isn’t bothered that he’s constantly hounded by crowds of shrieking girls because it’s an “experience”.
“But at least that’s an experience, something new,” Pattinson said of the time he was clipped by a cab while fleeing from the ladies on the New York set of Remember Me this past summer.
“If it’s just screaming — and I know this sounds so ridiculous — that gets old. But sometimes when there’s literal chaos, it’s like being in a war zone, and that’s kind of exciting. You’re just running through the crowd of people chasing after you and no one knows what’s going on.”

Twilight Stars Hit The Road
San Francisco appearance on Monday, November 9.
Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart thrilled hundreds of fans in Los Angeles on Friday night as they kicked off their Mall Tour to promote "The Twilight Saga: New Moon."
The pair, along with co-star Taylor Lautner, took to the stage in the Hollywood and Highland Center and sent waiting fans into a frenzy. Pattinson told the crowd, "First of all, thanks to you guys. Without you, Twilight wouldn't be anywhere, so thanks very much."
And Lautner stunned fans further by announcing: "We have a special treat. The whole entire cast is about ready to come on stage and they're going to answer your questions so thank you, it should be exciting." The trio was then joined onstage by the rest of the cast, including Kellan Lutz, Nikki Reed and Ashley Greene.
The waiting audience had earlier been entertained by performances by Death Cab For Cutie, Sea Wolf, Anya Marina and Band of Skulls, who all have tracks on the upcoming vampire movie's soundtrack.
The Twilight Mall Tour is continuing across the U.S. over the next two weeks, before wrapping up in New York on November 19.

Pattinson wants Van Sant to direct next 'Twilight' sequelActor
Robert Pattinson is campaigning for
Gus Van Sant to take charge of the fourth
"Twilight" movie after learning the film will be shot in the director's hometown.
The first big screen installment of the vampire series was filmed in the city of Portland, but the cast traveled to Vancouver earlier this year to film the following two sequels, "New Moon" and "Eclipse."
Now Pattinson has revealed they will be crossing back over the U.S. border for "Breaking Dawn," and he's hoping Oscar-nominee Van Sant, who was originally born in Kentucky, will jump on board the franchise as it's taking place in the city he's lived and worked in for several years.
Pattinson tells MTV.com, "I probably shouldn't say this, but I've heard that we're going to shoot it in Portland.
"I think Gus Van Sant would be great to do it. He shoots everything in Portland. He's good at making it look beautiful.
"('Breaking Dawn')'s all about teenage love and obsessions. I think Gus Van Sant would be great."
Filmmaker Catherine Hardwicke directed 2008's "Twilight" movie, while Chris Weitz took over camera duties for the upcoming "New Moon," and David Slade helmed next year's "Eclipse."

It's true! 'New Moon' co-stars Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart caught holding hands in Paris
Paris for lovers, and judging by their tightly clasped hands, it looks like Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart have fallen under the city's spell.
As the "New Moon" co-stars boarded a plane following a press conference earlier in the day, Pattinson, 22, and the world's most famous shrinking violet, Stewart, looked happy to finally share some private time.
But no thanks to a sneaky paparazzi who snapped the smiling duo, their tender moment wasn't private enough.
After months of speculation, "Twilight" fans are now taking the hand-holding as cold, hard evidence of a romance between the toothsome couple.
And if Pattinson's recent interview with Britain's New! Magazine are true, it sounds like the brooding 19-year old Stewart is just his type.
"I like people who are strong and have a lot of darkness to them," the heartthrob told the mag.
While Stewart and Pattinson may be shirking the attention, their "New Moon" co-stars Peter Facinelli and Kellan Lutz get a kick out of it.
The actors playfully reenacted the hand-holding photo and posted it on Twitter with the caption: "Co-stars caught holding hands.

Robert Pattinson's Fat-Free Pride
Robert Pattinson is "proud" of his slender figure.
The 'Twilight' heartthrob - who plays the role of Edward Cullen in the vampire movies - said he had to work hard to hone his physique because he was desperate to be involved in all the action parts of the hit film franchise.
The 23-year-old actor said: "When I got the part, I started training because I wanted to do my own stunts - and some of them were pretty extreme.
"I did a lot of running and I worked out four to five hours a day. I only slowed down when I started to lose weight, but I've got to say, I'm pretty proud to show my abs now, and I have no fat at all!"
The British actor also admitted to finding being portrayed as a sex symbol quite terrifying and is still unable to cope with the attention.
He added: "It's kind of weird to get all this attention. It feels surreal. Honestly, when I auditioned for the part, I was so sure I didn't have a chance of getting the role. I'm so surprised the way things turned out."

Robert Pattinson's Strip Vow
Robert Pattinson would get naked on screen for the right role.
The British actor - who plays vampire heartthrob Edward Cullen in the 'Twilight' movies - would consider taking his clothes off if he thought the part required it.
He said: "I think it would depend on what it is. And I don't think a lot of people would really want to see that. I think it would ruin the illusion!"
Although he would be prepared to strip for a movie, the 23-year-old star admits he finds nudity embarrassing and struggled when he had to shoot explicit scenes for the 2008 movie 'Little Ashes', in which he played a young Salvador Dali.
He said in an interview with Britain's Star magazine: "It's funny because Spanish people have no problem with nudity at all, and I mean at all. And English people obviously do have the most enormous problem with it.
"Little things, like when I saw my father getting changed for swimming, I was traumatised by it... I kind of freaked out a bit."

Pattinson pulled from radio interview after Stewart question Robert Pattinson left a radio interview with
Ryan Seacrest just two minutes into the chat, after the DJ quizzed the actor about his "Twilight" co-star and rumored girlfriend,
Kristen Stewart.
The Brit was in Los Angeles for the premiere of "
The Twilight Saga: New Moon" on Monday night and popped into Seacrest's portable studio for a planned interview.
Pattinson, flanked by minders, seemed at ease with the TV and radio personality and answered questions about the waiting fans and the popularity of the vampire franchise.
But the mood changed when Seacrest probed Pattinson about his relationship with Stewart.
The 23-year-old looked to his publicists for guidance and one beckoned him away from the studio, telling Seacrest, "No, I'm sorry. Let's go!"
Seacrest refused to let the matter rest, exclaiming: "You can't ask that question to the guy? It's his co-star! It's a fair question. I was cut off for the first time ever!"
His protests were in vain though - Pattinson left the studio with his representatives after telling Seacrest, "Watch 'New Moon,' it's amazing!"

Vatican Slams 'Deviant' TwilightThe Roman Catholic Church has expressed concerns over the growing popularity of the "Twilight" movies - Vatican officials have called the vampire franchise a "moral vacuum with a deviant message".
The second film in the series, "The Twilight Saga: New Moon," hit cinemas this week and the movie's stars,
Robert Pattinson, Kristen Stewart and Taylor Lautner, have been travelling the world to promote the release.
But the worldwide hype, along with masses of hysterical teenage fans, has drawn criticism from the Vatican, with officials urging parents to be more vigilant about the type of films their children are watching.
Monsignor Franco Perazzolo, of the Pontifical Council of Culture, says, "The theme of vampires in 'Twilight' combines a mixture of excesses that as ever is aimed at young people and gives a heavy - esoteric element. It is once again that age-old trick or ideal formula of using extremes to make an impact at the box office. This film is nothing more than a moral vacuum with a deviant message and as such should be of concern."
Vatican officials previously criticized the "Harry Potter" film franchise for its themes of magic and wizardry, as well as Dan Brown adaptations "The Da Vinci Code," and "Angels and Demons" for their depiction of the Catholic Church.

Robert Pattinson Escapes Attention
Robert Pattinson has struggled to avoid female fans on nights out drinking with friends.
A group of women posed as guests at the Bowery Hotel to catch a glimpse of the heartthrob, who was drinking in the "guests only" area of the bar on Friday (20.11.09), but were ejected by security guards after they realised they had given a fake room number to get closer to their idol.
A guest said: "Rob just kept lowering his hat. He wouldn't even look up as they walked by."
Despite the incident, Robert wasn't put off enjoying his social life and was also seen with 'Twilight Saga: New Moon' co-star Kristen Stewart - who he is also rumoured to be dating in real life, at a Japanese restaurant with friends in New York on Sunday (22.11.09).
A source said: "They'd obviously been there some time. The waiters were still delivering things to the table an hour after the kitchen was supposed to have closed."
Kristen, who plays Bella Swan in the vampire films - reportedly looked "exhausted", resting her head on her hand for most of the night.

Yes, but the movie was changed to allow for more of Pattinson. In the book, Edward leaves and Bella hears him in her head. In the move, Bella "sees" him -- it was done to give more screen time for Pattinson.
Funny to think of Taylor as the lead when he almost had his ass canned because the producers didn't think he was hunky enough for the changes his character goes through -- I guess Taylor discovered the joys of steroids.

that's a bit shortsighted them, to hire the guy for the first movie with the 2nd book already well established. Nothing like replacing major characters to throw a moive off. They did replace the female vampire baddy but i guess she's not a major character that people are jonesing for.

Yes it was shortsighted -- you can think Catherine Hardwicke for that --
I would have changed him out though == it would have been better to change him after Twilight -- then several movies into the series -- it will be interesting to see if he is able to maintain the physique through the end of the series -- on the other hand, I am sure the next two books will concentrate more on Edward and Bella and the upcoming battle with Victoria and the Volturi then it will Jake.

There was definitely a lot creepy about the series. I read some of the developments on wiki since I wasnt interested enough to read the whole series. but what I did read... I mean if this is her perfect relationship, meyers certainly has issues, not to say the emotional development of a 15 year old. She glorifies obsessive love, female helplessness, the notion of physical beauty is what matters (not only is edward "perfect" but even bella who sees HERSELF as unattractive clearly is compelling to men- she has no fewer than 5 men in love with her at first site.) She always needs protecting, even from herself. Edward sits her in his lap like she's a little girl. Watches her when she sleeps without her knowing for fecks sake! and she finds this charming. He's moody, selfish and obsessed. Both of them prefer suicide to being without each other and this is considered romantic in the story. She's with him for all of 3 weeks before she want's to be turned into a vampire and to give up everyone else in her life. And again, this is considered "perfect" to meyer, not anything less. Jake nearly rapes her (certainly molests her) and she's merely annoyed with her "best friend". Edward seems to have zilch personality but we do know he's beautiful and "perfect". Yeah and then there's the wolf "imprinting" with babies. Which, we are assured, is perfectly innocent. The whole thing is just not something a healthy adult would write and admit was her fantasy.

totally agree. its not subtle. And in the book this is represented as utterly romantic that he Loves Her That Much. I mean think about it. you've got a chrush and one day you find out he's been coming into your house and room at night to watch you unawares? Its just one example of a whole tone to the story that indicates something verrrrry stunted on behalf of the author who has claimed this is her perfect guy.

Single Star Robert Pattinson
Robert Pattinson insists he is single.
The 'Twilight Saga: New Moon' actor - who stars as vampire Edward Cullen in the hit movie franchise - quashed the constant speculation romantically linking him to co-star Kristen Stewart, insisting he is too boring to be the subject of true stories.
He said: "I am single - almost everything that comes out about my private life is false.
"I think it happens because, really, there is not much to say about what I'm doing. While I am filming, I live practically like a recluse in a hotel.
"I come out only to work, and sometimes to go out for dinner. But, if you read the magazines, it seems that I have a frantic high life."
The 23-year-old British star recently said he was lucky-in-love because he always gets dumped.
Speaking of his vampire character Edward, he said: " He doesn't know what to do. It's this typically male attitude when you find somebody you're in love with and your own doubts just keep messing up again and again. And then you realise as soon as you've messed up, you only have a few chances!
"I'm like that every time! I'll do that with every relationship I ever have. As soon as I like them I start beating myself up to a point of ridiculousness and then they hate me to the point of dumping me."

Robert Pattinson to replace Tobey Maguire in Spider-Man 4? British actor
Robert Pattinson is set to swing into action to replace Tobey Maguire in Spider-Man 4, according to a U.K. report.
The "Twilight" hunk is reportedly the top choice with Columbia executives to star in the film, after Maguire pulled out last week over a reported script issue.
Daily Variety claimed movie bosses are planning to make a prequel about Spider-Man's alter-ego, Peter Parker, as a teenager instead - and Pattinson is the hot favorite to land the role, reports Britain's Daily Mirror.
A source tells the publication, "The buzz in Hollywood is all about R-Patz as the hot, young thing being lined up to fill Tobey Maguire's shoes. It would be a hard act to follow as fans were traumatized at the news Tobey was going.
"His mild-mannered portrayal as Peter Parker and the transformation to Spider-Man kept millions of fans in the cinemas for the box-office smash. He also had great chemistry with Kirsten Dunst, who plays love interest Mary Jane."
But Pattinson faces tough competition for the coveted role - High School Musical star Zac Efron also has his eye on playing the web-slinger.
He says, "I don't know what the chances are to be honest. I assume they're pretty slim. It's a long-shot but if it came down to it, it'd be a dream come true. What young actor wouldn't?"

Law Replaced By Pattinson As Hollywood Heart Throb
JUDE LAW is happy to surrender his status as a Hollywood heart-throb to ROBERT PATTINSON - insisting the young TWILIGHT actor has already taken his place.
Law, 37, is convinced he is now too old to be considered a pin-up, especially as so many young stars are breaking into the movie business and securing legions of loyal followers.
And the Brit is relieved he can finally shed his image as a Hollywood hunk - because he has always been uncomfortable with the title.
He tells Germany's Sueddeutsche Zeitung newspaper, "If I have a look around at the moment I feel great relief because finally others are entering the limelight. Men like Robert Pattinson must now play the Adonis. For me it was always a restraint, a restriction.
"My goal was always to be recognised as a good actor but no one was interested in that, simply because society just wants to warm towards your appearance. This is the great blemish of society.
"When you suddenly appear on the scene and you are the new face, everything centres on you. I experienced this in my mid-20s and I found it rather hard."

The 23-year-old actor stars as a corrupt journalist who becomes romantically involved with Thurman's wealthy woman in the upcoming period drama, based on a 1885 novel.
Speaking to the Daily Record, he said: "The sex scenes with Uma are kind of disturbing. Her character kind of uses sex as a sort of weapon and my character thinks like an animal.
"There's a lot of sex scenes in this film, so I'm asking quite a lot of myself, and with lots of different people as well."
Bel Ami, which also stars Christina Ricci and Kristin Scott Thomas, is scheduled for release next year.

Robert Pattinson Bitten by Puppy Love
Robert Pattinson finally reveals the current love of his life – and it's not Kristen Stewart, or any other human for that matter.
"The only emotional connection of relevance is with my dog," he tells the March issue of Details magazine. "My relationship with my dog, it's ridiculous."
The article also features the results of a grueling photo shoot, in which the Twilight heartthrob had to endure the company of nude women.
"It was a 12-hour shoot, so you kind of get the picture that these women are going to stay naked after, like, five or six hours," Pattinson, 23, told the magazine. "But I wasn't exactly prepared. I had no idea what to say to these girls. Thank God I was hung over."
In an interview brimming with TMI – he goes on an R-rated riff about a woman's anatomy – Pattinson likens the photo shoot to pornography, only the more wholesome kind.
"This shoot, it's kind of eighties nakedness, you know? If you look at porn in, like, the eighties, there was something kind of quaint about it, quite sweet – like this little naked community," he said. "The people who made it liked it, they had respect for it. Not remotely like the porn that's available now. No community in it at all. It's just everything, everywhere."

Wax Man Robert Pattinson
The 'Twilight' actor is the latest star to be honoured with his own waxwork by famous museum Madame Tussauds and his figure will be unveiled in both the New York and London branches.
Artist Luke Fisher is keen to give the statues a true resemblance and has received a lot of help from other members of staff.
Madame Tussauds said: "They have been studying hundreds of photos and pouring through hours of video to ensure that they capture R-Pattz's trademark sultry expression and inimitable style."
Robert follows in the footsteps of a host of stars to have been immortalised in wax including Brad Pitt, Johnny Depp, Marilyn Monroe and David and Victoria Beckham.
The waxworks will give fans on both sides of the Atlantic a rare chance to get close to the heartthrob as he recently revealed he hides from his followers because he finds the attention hard to deal with.
He said: "You are trying to limit the amount of time you have to deal with it. I do a bit of hiding."

Robert Pattinson: ‘I’m Not Materialistic’
ROBERT Pattinson insists his life is clutter-free — because he can do without “most things”.
The hunky British actor — who’s rumored to be dating his Twilight costar Kristen Stewart — says he isn’t materialistic.
“I’m not one for comforts and stuff, I think I can kind of do without most things,” he said.
Rob, 23, also revealed he hasn’t really been splashing the cash since finding fame in the vampire movie franchise.
“I bought a really nice guitar recently, which is the only thing I’ve ever really spent a lot of money on,” he said. “But that’s the only thing.
“I had my apartment in London before when I was unemployed — this tiny little place and I liked it more.
“You had to walk through a restaurant kitchen and up this staircase filled with trash and there’s no heating. I like that.
“But now it’s quite difficult. I can’t live in places like that any more. The people outside, that’s the only issue.”

Zac Efron Amazed By Robert
The 'High School Musical' actor is a big admirer of the 'Twilight' hunk and is particularly impressed with the way the 23-year-old British star is handling his fame.
He said: "He's absolutely amazing. I think he's making great choices. I think he's handling it all really well, but you know, he's a superstar. He really deserves all this."
The 22-year-old actor arrived at the Academy Awards last night (07.03.10) without girlfriend Vanessa Hudgens, but says she wants his support when she picks up the ShoWest Star of Tomorrow Award in Las Vegas later this month.
However, Zac is unsure whether he can trust himself in the city, which is famed as a gambling and partying haven.
He told US TV show 'Access Hollywood': "She's trying to get me to go to Vegas. I've not been to Vegas legal yet, since turning 21. I feel like I might get into trouble."
Zac was among a number of young presenters at the 82nd Academy Awards, with 'Hannah Montana' star Miley Cyrus and 'Twilight' actor Taylor Lautner also working on the night.

Robert Pattinson's Film Therapy
Robert Pattinson uses his films as therapy.
The 'Twilight' actor looks for roles that will help him with his life, which is why he was attracted to new movie 'Remember Me', in which he plays Tyler Hawkins a rebellious young man living in New York city and trying to cope with the suicide of his brother.
He said: "I try and pick roles that will help me develop as a human being and I think I was going through a similar kind of experience as my character Tyler, which I guess you could call being rebellious. I thought just doing the film would actually help me to think about and discover things that would help me in my life. I was kind of using it as atherapy exercise."
The 23-year-old heartthrob also admitted he is still grieving the death of his beloved dog Patty last year as he felt he had lost a family member.
He told Parade.com: "I keep talking about my dog all the time. It was an incredible dog, and I said in an interview recently he was the most important person in my life. My family went crazy with me for saying that. But, however ridiculous it may seem to some people, my relationship with my dog was a defining moment. Having the dog die was, literally, like the worst day of my life. It was like losing a family member."

Review: Pattinson still brooding in `Remember Me'By JAKE COYLE, AP Entertainment Writer
In "Remember Me,"
Robert Pattinson has temporarily stepped away from "Twilight," apparently in search of his "Five Easy Pieces" or "Rebel Without a Cause."
When Pattinson's character — a wayward, rebellious 21-year-old named Tyler Hawkins — meets who will quickly become his love interest — a fellow NYU student named Ally (Emilie de Ravin) — he informs her that his major is "undecided."
"`Bout what?" she responds.
"Everything," he says.
As a character-defining quote, it's a long way from Marlon Brando's "Whaddya got?" in "The Wild One." Perhaps an earlier draft had him saying he's getting a "Ph.D. in misanthropy."
Pattinson may be on leave from the narcotic melodrama of "Twilight," but he's still in full-on brooding mode. The young actor has an unmistakable screen presence. However in "Remember Me," he pours it on thickly and self-consciously.
With low eyes, sleeves rolled up just so and cigarette drooping artfully from his mouth, Tyler (like Edward Cullen) is a reluctant romantic. He quotes Gandhi in voiceover, makes love to Sigur Ros and (understandably) can't be moved to laughter by "American Pie 2."
His deepness runneth over.
"Remember Me" begins ominously with the Twin Towers lurking in view behind an elevated subway in 1991 Brooklyn. A woman is senselessly murdered while her young daughter watches.
When the film shifts 10 years later, the girl is Ally, whom Tyler meets through a rather preposterous revenge plot directed at her father (Chris Cooper), a New York police officer who roughed Tyler up.
Their meeting is orchestrated by Tyler's roommate, Tate, played by Aiden Hall. But there will be no fan-created Team Tyler vs. Team Tate here. The roommate is an annoying chatterbox, whose comedic moments drag the film.
A sense of dread — hinted at by the movie's title and intoned by Marcelo Zarvos' score — is carried though the film, which is set in the summer of 2001. Sudden spurts of violence punctuate the story.
Long before the big reveal ending, one begins to feel "Remember Me" is romanticizing — even fetishizing — tragedy. There's a pretentious reveling in emotional scars and painful loss.
Tyler is the son of a high-powered attorney (Pierce Brosnan), an absent father to Tyler and his young sister, Caroline (Ruby Jerins). Some time earlier, Tyler's older brother committed suicide — the hurtful event that has given Tyler much of his grimness.
Heaviness weighs on Ally and her father, too. Cooper is typecast as an uptight, overbearing father, but he's predictably solid.
Brosnan is the highlight of the film, again proving — as he did in Roman Polanski's recent "The Ghost Writer" — his character actor chops. Tucked stoically behind a suit, he ably sports a Brooklyn accent in believable, confrontational scenes with Pattinson.
Director Allen Coulter shows the same skill in creating atmosphere as he did in "Hollywoodland," but the script by Will Fetters (his first) is uneven.
The most pleasing thing about "Remember Me" is its boldness. It may be affected, but "Remember Me" is at least aiming for an intriguing character study — a positive sign in the young career of Pattinson (who is also an executive producer).
He may very well grow into a less showy actor. For now, Tyler's response to Ally when she tells him that she's 19 is the most telling.
"I can do teens," he says.
Yes, sir. You certainly can.
"Remember Me," a Summit Entertainment release, is rated PG-13 for violence, sexual content, language and smoking. Running time: 113 minutes. Two stars out of four.

Robert Pattinson: 'I Don't Think I'm Sexy'
Robert Pattinson has admitted that he doesn't think he is "sexy".
The Remember Me star insisted that his fans are only attracted to him because of the "illusion" surrounding him.
"I don't feel that I'm sexy at all," he told The Sun. "I don't feel connected to that kind of talk. People say it but I've never thought like that."
He continued: "It's funny, because even the girls that think like that, if you talk to one of them for five minutes the illusion is gone. But people still hold onto an illusion. It doesn't matter what you do, they're going to form these fantasies.
"I think people don't really know what they want and often it is an imaginary thing."
Pattinson recently confirmed that he is dating his Twilight co-star Kristen Stewart, although reports have suggested that he has refused to commit to the relationship.
