Radcliffe Passes Church, Approaches Prince's Wealth
imdb.com

Harry Potter star Daniel Radcliffe has replaced singer Charlotte Church as Britain's second richest teenager - and the actor is predicted to soon become the richest. Currently Prince Harry is the country's richest teenager, but Radcliffe is predicted to eclipse the royal's reported $25 million fortune as his salary for the series of Potter films rises which each installment. A movie insider says, "The project would lose too much credibility if they changed any of the lead actors now so in effect Dan can name his price. He'll be the richest teenager in the UK and one of the richest in the world by the time its all done."

Radcliffe Refuses To Watch His Potter Debut
imdb.com

Teenage actor Daniel Radcliffe refuses to watch his movie debut in 2001's Harry Potter And The Sorcerer's Stone because he's embarrassed by how immature he seems in it. The 15-year-old star - who plays the boy wizard - accidentally caught a glimpse of himself in the 2001 movie while changing TV channels, but immediately turned it off because he hated the sound of his voice. He explains, "I haven't seen the first one in a few years. I don't want to watch it. I won't go back while I'm doing the fourth one. Although having said that, I was flicking through the channels one day and I saw a bit of it on TV and I genuinely thought there was something wrong with the sound because my voice was too high and I seemed so young. I might watch it one day for fun - although I'm not sure how much fun it would be because I'm really self-critical."

Harry Potter's hairdresser love
BANG

(BANG) - 'Harry Potter' star Daniel Radcliffe is rumoured to be dating a trainee hairdresser seven years his senior.

The 16-year-old actor has become close to Irish-born Amy Byrne, 23, since they met last summer on the set of 'Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire'.

The pair have regularly visited each other's homes, been seen out together and spend hours on the phone, according to sources.

Byrne's landlord, Douglas Jackson, says Radcliffe regularly calls at her rented home.

He is quoted by Britain's Daily Mail newspaper as saying: "Daniel has called round on a number of occasions. Amy says it is so she can help him get dressed.

"She does his hair and make-up before he goes to various publicity events in London. They are very close friends. As to whether there's a relationship, I have no knowledge of that."

Radcliffe's publicist, Vanessa Davies, said: "Daniel and Amy are good friends. There is no more to it than a friendship."

Radcliffe: "I Will Always Be Potter"

Daniel Radcliffe has dismissed fears continuing as movie wizard Harry Potter will typecast him - insisting he will star in all seven films. The 16-year-old, who has played the wizard since the first movie in 2001, is enjoying himself too much to leave the hit franchise, but intends to prove his versatility in a series of side projects. He says, "Ultimately it comes down to whether we're still enjoying it. If we are then I think we would be sort of stupid not to do them. As long as I'm doing other stuff around the same time, I think it'll be fine. Also, I sort of try to read the books when they come out impartially and not make up my mind, but the fact is when I was reading the sixth, Harry Potter And The Half-Blood Prince, there were bits in there where I was going, 'God, I would love to do that because it's so good.'"

Radcliffe Is Britain's Wealthiest Teenager

Harry Potter star Daniel Radcliffe has been calculated Britain's richest teenager. Radcliffe, who shot to stardom at the age of 11 after starring in JK Rowling's first magical wizard movie Harry Potter And The Sorcerer's Stone, is now 16 and richer than fellow teenagers Charlotte Church and Joss Stone. Harry Potter And The Goblet Of Fire director Mike Newell is relieved Radcliffe and co-stars Rupert Grint and Emma Watson have not been carried away by their wealth. He says, "They all know exactly what they're worth but they have not become impossible. My worst fear is that they would have realized that they are absolutely the stars." Radcliffe has just signed a $14.4 million deal to make the fifth movie in the series - Harry Potter The Order Of The Phoenix.

'Harry' plays wizard of Oz

BY DAVE GOLDINER
DAILY NEWS STAFF WRITER

Daniel Radcliffe

Daniel Radcliffe is enjoying not being Harry Potter for a change.
The 16-year-old star of the blockbuster series about the young wizard is quietly filming a low-budget movie called "December Boys" in Australia.

It's Radcliffe's first non-"Potter" flick since 2001 - and he's wild about not being Harry.

"It's great to do something different and in that way I am really, really enjoying it," Radcliffe told an Australian news service.

With the latest Potter movie, "Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire," reigning supreme at the box office, Radcliffe has struggled to stay incognito.

A newspaper in Adelaide, where he is filming the new movie, even published a hotline for possible Harry sightings.

"There has been a bit of speculation about where I am, which has been quite funny," he said.

Radcliffe admits the jury is still out over whether audiences will accept him in another role.

"Ultimately, it comes down to whether everyone else will want to see me, be able to see me, as another character," Radcliffe told the news service.

He plays an orphan in the Rod Hardy-directed movie and admitted feeling pressure to put on "a really good performance."

But Radcliffe also says moviegoers should be mature enough to appreciate him as an actor, not just the star of one of the most-loved series of movies in Hollywood history.

"It's up to them to go to it with an open mind and don't think, 'I'm going to see the film where the guy playing Harry Potter is in it,'" he said. "I don't think it will be a problem at all."

'Harry Potter' Star Plans West End Debut
Jul 28, 9:26 AM EST

The Associated Press

LONDON -- Daniel Radcliffe will strip off his Harry Potter eyeglasses and robes for his London stage debut next year.

The 17-year-old actor, who plays the bespectacled schoolboy wizard in the Hollywood adaptations of J.K. Rowling's novels, will star as a troubled stableboy in Peter Shaffer's "Equus."

The play delves into the psyche of a boy named Alan Strang who blinds six horses with a metal spike. The production is scheduled to open next March in the West End theater district, said spokesman Peter Thompson.

"It is an extraordinary play, and he's very much looking forward to the role," Radcliffe's spokeswoman, Vanessa Davies, said Friday. "He is maturing as an actor and beginning to take on new and challenging roles."

In one scene the actor playing Strang is required to simulate sexual ecstasy while riding a horse naked. But Davies said nudity was not the focus of the play.

Richard Griffiths, who plays Harry's Uncle Vernon in the films, is lined up to play the psychiatrist who interviews the troubled youth.

Radcliffe is now filming "Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix," the fifth installment in Harry's adventures, and recently finished shooting "December Boys," the story of four orphans who compete for adoption.

"Equus" opened in 1973 at London's National Theatre, before a successful run on Broadway starring Anthony Hopkins. Richard Burton starred in a 1977 film adaptation.

Fans shocked by Harry Potter's off-color skit

Daniel Radcliffe isn’t the squeaky clean boy wizard some “Harry Potter” fans think he is.

The star of the flicks based on the wildly successful fantasy books appeared in an off-color skit, dressed as a Boy Scout, propositioning an older woman (played by Dame Diana Rigg) and playing with a condom.

The skit has been picked up by YouTube, where it’s drawing some outrage, but mostly amusement.

“[Oh my God], when I was watching it was like ... I’ve never seen that side of Dan,” exclaimed one fan. “Normally I just see the sweet sort of well-mannered quirky Dan, not THAT!"

It's hardly a "skit". It was an episode of the "Extras" series with Ricky Gervais.

Raunchy Radcliffe Pictures Upset Parents

Naked pictures of Daniel Radcliffe to promote a new play are causing controversy among fans of the Harry Potter movies. The young star peels off his top half and cuddles up with a topless co-star in the promotional snaps for his London West End run in Equus. The pictures have already become popular among young female fans of the 17-year-old - most famous for his role in the boy wizard franchise. But parents are up in arms and are bombarding Harry Potter fansites with emails. One reads, "We as parents feel Daniel should not appear nude. Our nine-year-old son looks up to him as a role model. We are very disappointed and will avoid the future movies he makes." Radcliffe's spokesperson Vanessa Davies tells British newspaper the Daily Mail, "Daniel does not want to step away from Harry Potter but he does want to show he is a rounded actor capable of very different roles. He has tremendous support from Harry Potter fans." The play, written by Anthony Shaffer, opens in London on February 27.

Radcliffe's Co-Star Defends Nude Scene

British actress Joanna Christie has defended Equus co-star Daniel Radcliffe for appearing nude on the London stage, insisting the play is about much more than him stripping off. The Harry Potter star, 17, defended his decision to appear naked in a revival of Peter Shaffer's 1973 play earlier this month, after the promotional pictures for the show caused controversy among parents of young fans of the boy wizard. But 24-year-old Christie is amazed by the amount of press attention Radcliffe has attracted, and urges critics to look beyond the raunchy scenes to see the meaning of the play itself. She says, "I can't believe there are people saying he's a bad role model for children. He's an actor playing a part, and in the story he happens to have a relationship with a girl. The play is on school syllabuses. It's an amazingly interesting, complex story. It's not about nudity or sex. It's about a lot of very complex issues. When we do (the nude scene) in the context of the play it's really beautiful and natural. I expected some publicity because of Daniel but not stories and photos everywhere."

Radcliffe signs on for final two Potter movies
17-year-old to begin filming ‘Half-Blood Prince’ in September

LONDON - British actor Daniel Radcliffe has signed up for the final two films in the seven-part Harry Potter series, his spokeswoman said on Friday.

The 17-year-old, who has just won rave reviews for his performance in Peter Shaffer’s controversial play “Equus,” will start filming the sixth movie, “Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince” by J.K. Rowling, in September, she added.

Radcliffe shot to fame in 2001 when he appeared as the boy wizard in the first Harry Potter film.

The hit franchise, which continues with the fifth installment called “Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix” later this year, has amassed around $3.5 billion globally at the box office and turned the teenager into a multi-millionaire.

Rowling recently announced that the seventh and final book in the series, called “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows” will be published on July 21, but it is not clear when the film version will be made.

The first six books have sold in excess of 325 million copies worldwide.

Movie commentators had wondered if Radcliffe could sustain the role of Potter throughout the film franchise, and whether the raunchy publicity shots of Radcliffe for “Equus” would alienate him from his core fan base.

Radcliffe is hoping to die in last Potter book!

London, Feb 18 (ANI): Harry Potter star Daniel Radcliffe is hoping that his character will die in the seventh and final book.

Author JK Rowling finished writing 'Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows' in last month, and the book is slated to hit stores on July 21 this year.

And while millions of Potter fans are hoping that Rowling won't be killing off Potter, Radcliffe is hoping that the opposite does happen.

"I sort of hope I'll die in it," the Daily Mail quoted him, as saying.

The actor, who turns 18 barely two days after the final Potter book hits stands, insisted that killing off his character was the 'only way' that Rowling would be able to bring the series to an end.

"I think that's the only way Jo can end it and I've a melodramatic yearning for a death scene," he added.

Rowling has already told fans to prepare themselves for the deaths of two of the main characters. The only thing left to be seen now, is who those two will be.

As for why the author decided to do away with two of the main characters, she insists that that's because 'pure evil' would not settle for a sidekick.

"A price has to be paid. We are dealing with pure evil. They go for the main characters," Rowling said. (ANI)

"Harry Potter" film to premiere in Tokyo

The fifth "Harry Potter" film, based on the best-selling books about the young boy wizard, will premiere in Japan on June 28, just months after "Spider-Man 3" marked a rare international movie debut in Tokyo.

A Warner Bros. spokeswoman in Tokyo said British actor Daniel Radcliffe, who plays the broomstick-flying Harry, would come to Tokyo for the event, which is scheduled ahead of the movie's London showing on July 3.

"Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix" is the latest installment in a series that began in 2001 with "Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone."

The four previous "Harry Potter" movies, based on J.K. Rowling's books, have grossed more than $3.5 billion worldwide.

There is "no special reason" why the film is making its premiere in Japan, the spokeswoman said.

But the Tokyo premiere last month of another highly anticipated sequel, "Spider-Man 3," was seen as a shrewd push into the faster-growing international market that could help boost box-office revenues.

The seventh and final book in the "Harry Potter" series, "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows," will go on sale on July 21, but it is not clear when the film version will be made.

Harry Potter theme park set to open
Wizarding World of Harry Potter will open in Orlando in 2009

Soon you will no longer have to worry about dirtying your robes with soot while traveling the Floo Network, suffering the uncomfortable sensations of apparition or stumbling upon a port key in order to reach the magical world of Harry Potter.

Within three years, the only thing you’ll have to conjure up is a ticket to Orlando, Fla.

Warner Bros. Entertainment Inc. and Universal Orlando Resort plan to open The Wizarding World of Harry Potter within Universal's Islands of Adventure theme park in 2009, Tom Williams, chairman and CEO of Universal Parks and Resorts, announced Thursday on TODAY. The “theme park within a theme park” is the first fully immersive Harry Potter-themed environment based on the bestselling books by J.K. Rowling and the blockbuster feature films.

"The plans I've seen look incredibly exciting, and I don't think fans of the books or films will be disappointed," J.K. Rowling in a press release. Williams said Rowling has been collaborating on the park from the beginning and will continue to do so through the opening.

Visitors can stroll about Hogsmeade, discover the mysteries of the Forbidden Forest and explore Hogwarts castle.

"(Visitors will) be able to sense the sights, the sound, the touch and the feel, the smells and really immerse themselves in this authentic world," Williams said.

Stuart Craig, the Academy-Award winning production designer who has worked on the Harry Potter movies, is leading the creative design on the park to ensure it remains true to the look and feel of the films.

“Our primary goal is to make sure this experience is an authentic extension of Harry Potter’s world as it is portrayed in the books and films,” Craig said in a press release.

The Wizarding World will feature rides, shops and restaurants all based on the fictional world of Harry Potter.

The announcement of the park adds to the current Harry Potter frenzy; the seventh and final book, "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows," will be release on July 21 and the fifth film, "The Order of the Phoenix," opens in theater on July 13.

Harry Potter's experiments
26th June 2007 12:30:01

'Harry Potter's' young stars have confessed to drinking and smoking.

Daniel Radcliffe, Rupert Grint and Emma Watson, who play young wizards Harry Potter, Ron Weasley and Hermione Granger, say they have experimented just like all other teenagers.

Emma, 17, said: "You are careful not to do it in the public eye. You have your first cigarette or first glass of alcohol in a safe environment with your close friends - or you could be foolish and choose to do it in a London nightclub."

18-year-old Rupert added: "Because we are quite busy we do miss out, but we still have those kinds of experiences like getting drunk for the first time."

Despite enjoying going out, Daniel, 17, says he always puts his work first.

He revealed: "What I enjoy most is the acting and the work, but it doesn't stop us from having a party once in a while. Parties are fine and fun."

In the latest film, 'Harry Potter And The Order Of The Phoenix', Daniel has his first on-screen kiss with Katie Leung, who plays fellow Hogwarts pupil Cho Chang.

But he admits he wasn't nervous as nothing can touch the nerve-wracking experience of appearing naked on stage, which he did in West End hit 'Equus'.

He said: "Once you've been on stage naked in front of 1,000 people you really feel you can do most anything without inhibition.

"The kissing was fun but less sexy than I imagined. We probably got it right on the 30th take!"

I've been watching Harry Potter movies all weekend (ABC Family Channel marathon--Prisoner of Azkaban is on now, plus my on dvd of Goblet of Fire) and I'm only slightly ashamed to admit I would love a close-up of Harry's Wand....In the first couple movies, he was cute, but he's growing up and into just the sort of attractive guy with a hint of refreshing geekiness I love. Ah well. He turns 18 soon (this month, right??) so I only have to feel slightly ashamed for a little longer....Once he's "legal" I'll just be a pervy older woman and not a molester wink.gif

PS Has anyone else heard the satire song "Harry's Wand"? XM Kids used to play it all the time--I love it! Sung to the tune of Stacy's Mom......It's by Steve Goodie. He has other Harry Potter songs but that is my favorite.....

Roided-up or not, I'm looking forward to the new flick. The book is one of my faves in the series.

Radcliffe Enjoyed Irritating Paparazzi

Harry Potter And The Order Of The Phoenix star Daniel Radcliffe enjoyed annoying the paparazzi during his recent stint on the London stage - for six months he deliberately wore the same clothes when leaving the theatre so photographs would be worthless. The 17-year-old was greeted by photographers each night outside the Gielgud Theatre during his stint in controversial West End play Equus, where the teenage actor disrobed onstage every night. Radcliffe quickly realized newspaper and magazine editors wouldn't publish photos of him wearing the same outfit night after night, because it would look like the pictures were taken on the same day. He says, "They (the paparazzi) were outside the theatre every single night, but we came up with a cunning ruse. I would wear the same outfit every time - a different T-shirt underneath, but I'd wear the same jacket and zip it up so they couldn't see what I was wearing underneath, and the same hat. So they could take pictures for six months, but it would look like the same day, so they (photos) became unpublishable. Which was hilarious, because there's nothing better than seeing paparazzi getting really frustrated."

Daniel Radcliffe to star in war movie
BANG Showbiz
Dec. 31, 2007

The 'Harry Potter' actor has signed up to appear in 'Journey', in which he will portray tragic photographer Dan Eldon, who was stoned to death during the devastating civil war in Somalia, East Africa, in 1993.

Radcliffe fought off stiff competition from other Hollywood stars including Heath Ledger, Joaquin Phoenix, Ryan Phillippe and Orlando Bloom to land the role, after Eldon's family decided he would be perfect for the part.

The late photographer's mother Kathy said, "We resisted a lot of older actors because Dan was a boy emerging into manhood. The timing is right and the person is right and I couldn't ask for more.

"He has portrayed a magician for years and my Dan was a different kind of magician. There are parallels in the two Dans' lives.

"Daniel Radcliffe is a poet, he keeps journals and he is half Jewish. He has a sense of humor and energy inside him which reminds me of Dan."

Eldon was just 22 when he was murdered in the Somalian capital of Mogadishu. The film will be based on his diaries 'The Journey is the Destination', which were published in 1997.
