LOS ANGELES (Zap2it.com) - "American Pie" and "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" co-star Alyson Hannigan is getting ready to cast her next small screen spell. The 29-year-old actress has signed a talent deal with NBC.

Currently there are no specific projects set aside for Hannigan, though according to The Hollywood Reporter, the actress is looking to star in a comedy. She's currently meeting with writers and looking at existing scripts.

"She has such a natural effervescence," says Marc Hirschfeld, executive casting vice president at NBC. "She brought into 'Buffy' a real sense of humor to the role of Willow, and between that and the 'American Pie' movies, where she's so winning, we really think that this is the right time for her to try a half-hour comedy."

Hannigan played Willow Rosenberg for the entire run of Joss Whedon's WB and UPN series. Initially Buffy's nerdy sidekick, Hannigan helped the character evolve from an Internet-surfing wallflower into a powerful (and sometimes evil) witch. Although early on, Willow had a relationship with Seth Green's Oz, her lesbian romance with Amber Benson's Tara evoke especially emphatic response from the show's passionate audience.

On the big screen, Hannigan's credits include "My Stepmother is an Alien," "Boys and Girls" and three tours of duty as band geek Michelle in the "American Pie" movies.

"We're really enthusiastic about the idea of getting her on NBC and on the air," Hirschfeld ads. "This is one of our top priorities."

Buffy's former spell-wielding sidekick has finally come into her own.

Alyson Hannigan married her longtime beau, Angel's Alexis Denisof, this weekend, E! News Live has confirmed.

On top of that, she's just inked a deal with NBC to star in her own sitcom, the network confirmed Monday. (Beats a five-piece place setting off the registry.)

No details on the Hannigan-Denisof nuptials were released, but it's the first marriage for both.

Denisof proposed last January while winsome twosome were visiting California's wine country. The union was a long time coming. Though he and Hannigan originally met on the set of Buffy the Vampire Slayer during the 1999-2000 season, the two didn't become an item right away.

"Actually, I had a crush on him from the moment he showed up on set, and he was the good one who said, 'Not while we're working together...' blah blah blah, whatever," Hannigan once told E! Online.

"So we became friends for a couple of years, and I was dating somebody else [Marilyn Manson drummer Ginger Fish], and when that didn't work out, he was on Angel and we just started dating. We had always had a very flirty relationship."

Hannigan, who spent seven years on Buffy until the show ended last season, is unlikely to take an extended honeymoon with her new NBC gig looming.

The thesp, who expressed interest in headlining a comedy pilot while promoting American Wedding this August, was pursued by several networks but ultimately signed a talent holding and development deal with the Peacock.

NBC development prez Kevin Reilly told Variety Hannigan is "a great personality for us to anchor a comedy with."

"America watched her grow up on these movies, and she's come into her own as a young woman," said Reilly. "She's beautiful and funny and really charming. And she exudes a great spark comedically."

Already, NBC and the actress are meeting with potential writers to hear pitches. Per the deal, if nothing comes along by pilot casting season next spring, the red head is free to enter into negotiations with other networks for fall 2004.

The net is inking similar holding deals with much of its talent according to Reilly, offering actors more flexibility and less financial responsibility for the network.

"It's win-win for everybody," he said.

In the meantime, Hannigan will crack funny for That '70s Show . The actress is joining the Fox sitcom for a multi-episode arc this season. She'll play a new recruit at the police academy where Ashton Kutcher's character, Kelso, enrolls.

Hannigan, who got her start in 1988's My Stepmother is an Alien opposite fellow Scooby Seth Green, has starred in all three American Pie movies as band camp geek turned leading sexpot Michelle Flaherty.

Denisof, who continues to play Angel's brainy buddy Wesley Wyndham-Pryce, previously starred in Disney's video sequel Tarzan & Jane and the 1995 Sean Connery-Richard Gere Camelot flick First Knight. He and Hannigan also costarred in last year's straight-to-video dud Rip It Off.

"American Wedding" star Alyson Hannigan has held an American wedding of her own: She's married her former "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" costar Alexis Denisof, according to published reports.

It's the first marriage for both, and while no details of the ceremony have been revealed, Hannigan, 29, did speak at length about Denisof, 37, to PEOPLE last August, at the time that "Wedding" was released.

The two had met on the "Buffy" set during the 1999-2000 season, though he didn't get around to popping the question until last January -- at a moment when she had food in her teeth.

As she recalled, "We were driving up to his mom's house for Christmas. It was this wonderful road trip and we were up in Sonoma and Napa (Calif.). We bought all these beautiful foods and Alexis found this lake pretty close by, so we went to the lake. I'm swallowing the food, and then he just started saying these beautiful, wonderful things.

"The whole time I am getting kind of frustrated, like, 'Why does he always do this? He says the most romantic things and it would be the perfect way to propose and then he doesn't propose.'"

And then, suddenly, he did. "I was like, 'Huh?'" she said. "Everything in my brain just screeched to a halt. I wish I had TiVo, so I could rewind the whole thing. ... It was a complete surprise. But I knew he meant it because he had a ring."

Next up for the couple, professionally at least: Hannigan will pop into FOX's "That 70's Show" for a stint beside Ashton Kutcher as both their characters enroll in a police academy. She's also signed a deal with NBC to star in her own sitcom, aimed for fall 2004, says the Hollywood Reporter.

Denisof, meanwhile, continues his role as Wesley Wyndham-Pryce on "Angel."

Hannigan Commits to NBC Family Comedy

LOS ANGELES (Zap2it.com) - A little over a week after first expressing interest in NBC's untitled comedy from Matt Tarses and Bill Wrubel, Alyson Hannigan has signed on, booting that pilot's fortunes.

The project was first mentioned in The Hollywood Reporter on Wednesday, Jan. 7, when it was mentioned that NBC was hoping to make it into a vehicle for the former "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" star. Hannigan has had a talent deal with the network since October.

The series comes from NBC Studios and will be executive produced by Karey Burke, Wrubel, and siblings Matt and Jamie Tarses and focuses on the relationship between siblings who haven't spoken in 18 months.

Hannigan, most recently seen on the big screen in the third film in the "American Pie" series will next play Sally in a London stage production of the Rob Reiner film "When Harry Met Sally."......]]>

American actress Alyson Hannigan is questioning the level of security at the London theatre where she is starring in When Harry Met Sally - after an intruder gained access to her dressing room. The Buffy The Vampire Slayer star, 30, is concerned about safety at the capital's Haymarket Theatre after the stalker bypassed security and gained access to the actress' room on Saturday. An insider reveals, "This guy in his mid-20s was hanging around the stage door after the performance. He tried to sneak into Alyson's room but was stopped by security. There was a lot of shouting and swearing and neither Alyson or Luke were allowed to leave until he had been ushered out of the way." A spokesperson at the West End theatre - where Hannigan is appearing alongside former Beverly Hills 90210 actor Luke Perry - was keen to downplay the incident. He says, "Somehow an audience member found himself backstage after going through the wrong door. He took a wrong turn and found himself at her dressing room and thought he'd go and try and grab her autograph."

Her team ? the All-Americas ? wasn't so fortunate: Her American Pie costars Chris Klein and Thomas Ian Nicholas got bumped out of competition in the first round. But, the game, held at the DVD release party for Dodgeball: An Underdog Story, wasn't a total bust. Hannigan and friends helped raise $70,000 for the Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDS Foundation ? even though it meant putting their famous faces in danger. "It's worth it for the kids," Hannigan said. "So I lose a couple of teeth? There are dentists all over this city." Plus, it wasn't the red-haired actress's first time dodging balls. "I was the last team member standing at the last Pediatric AIDS dodgeball event and there was this moment of 'Oh my God, what did I sign up for?' Aside from some humorous moments during his time on "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" and "Angel," Alexis Denisof hasn't had much chance to do comedic work.
That will soon change, as Denisof is joining his wife, Alyson Hannigan, for a couple episodes of Hannigan's CBS sitcom, "How I Met Your Mother."

"He actually just did an episode of our show. It was so much fun," Hannigan told reporters last week during interviews for her film "Date Movie," which opens Friday, Feb. 17. She won't reveal who Denisof is playing on the show, but does allow that "it's very funny and actually, he's coming back for the next episode as well."

Hannigan and Denisof, who met when he joined the "Buffy" cast in the show's third season, have been married since October 2003.

"How I Met Your Mother," which airs Monday nights on CBS, is also Hannigan's first regular role in a TV comedy, although most of her movie work has been comedic. She says she's enjoying the camaraderie she shares with the cast, which also includes Josh Radnor, Cobie Smulders, Jason Segel and Neil Patrick Harris.

"I was actively looking for a half-hour [show] because of the family aspect of television, going to work with the same people for the majority of the year and getting to do what I love to do," she says.

She's also hopeful that the series will earn another year on CBS; thus far this season, it's drawing about 10.3 million viewers per week, along with fairly positive reviews.

"We're so lucky. We're having such a blast," Hannigan says. "We just hope we get to come back next year. They have to see all their pilots and make sure that, you know. It would be shocking, I think" if the show isn't renewed.

Hannigan and Again: So sweet. So talented. So funny. So, why does Alyson Hannigan keep showing up in gross-out comedies like Date Movie, where the whole idea is to put her in mortifying situations? Who knows? But as long as they're funny, it beats all those demonic molestations she used to go through on Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Plus, that special clarinet work in American Pie helped Hannigan land gigs on two of TV's best series: Veronica Mars and How I Met Your Mother. And she looks so adorable in a fat suit. Still, we thought we'd ask her about all of it.

Which witch power gets weakest if you don't use it?
Levitation. You have to practice. If you want to levitate, you have to focus, and you have to practice.

Did anything in Date Movie make you long for those good old days at American Pie's band camp?
I had a hard time watching all the stuff with the cat and the grandmother's corpse. I saw it in a theater with my pregnant publicist, one of my agents and my husband at 10 in the morning. I was just so sorry they had to sit through that.

Then there's the lovely fat suit.
It took two hours of makeup just for the face and the arms. Then the actual suit part...probably a good half hour of trying to wiggle your way in. There were about 10 days of it, two of which--for the dance sequence--were probably the worst days of my life. It was during a horrible heat wave. The suit was warm anyway, and I was just drenched with sweat by the end of the day. Not to sound totally gross, but any water I drank, I sweated out.

This movie features Edward Moss, the Michael Jackson impersonator made famous by E! Did you ever confuse him for the real Michael Jackson?
No, because he looks more like Michael Jackson about 10 surgeries ago. He still looks like a normal person. And he has a nose.

What's the best way to ask you out?
The best relationships I've ever been in, I was always friends with the person first, in that sort of flirtatious way. I was never a big dater. I would never date multiple people. I was definitely a relationship gal. So, I think that the best way would just be to get to know me as a friend. Because why would I date somebody I couldn't be friends with? That's why I'm friends with, like, most of my exes.

You're hilarious. Who else is hilarious?
I've always loved Carol Burnett and Lucille Ball. And Gilda Radner. Anybody in any of the Christopher Guest movies. They're all phenomenal. It's just a privilege to be able to work with some of them.

Neil Patrick Harris or Kristen Bell--who'd be tougher in a fight?
Well, Neil is really good at magic, so he might have the upper hand, because he can make himself disappear and then reappear. And Kristen's so small and petite he might just make her disappear or pull her out of my ear or something. So, I think I'd have to go with Neil.

Any new tattoos?
No. I've quit. Those were my younger days. I'm not gonna be Angelina Jolie any time soon. I like the ones I have, but the one on my foot sometimes kinda ruins shoes. Like if there's a strap, and it goes right through the tattoo, it's not as cute. So, that was bad placement on my part.

Now, really, why do you keep making movies like Date Movie?
I have this big jonesing to do comedy. It's been on my front burner for a few years, because it's just so much fun to go to work and laugh and make people laugh. I think it's healthy. For a while there, I couldn't get a comedy to save my life. I was struggling with a guest spot here, a movie of the week there. I was playing every victim you've ever met. Like, if something bad happened to your daughter, I played that girl.

"She was lovely," Alyson Hannigan told Usmagazine.com at the sitcom's re-launch party in West Hollywood Thursday.

"She’s just a person — so sweet and funny," Hannigan added. "We just talked about our clothes and dogs, and it was surprisingly just normal."

The rest of the cast couldn't stop raving about the actress — who shot scenes Wednesday and Thursday in L.A. — either.

"She’s beautiful," actor Jason Segel told Us. "You know, I was so focused on her hair that I’m overwhelmed with adjectives! She was great and lovely."

He said he wasn't surprised that Spears nailed her role as a dorky receptionist who falls for Ted (Josh Radnor).

"She was great," Segel added. "She was better than all five of us, so I guess that says a lot."

Added Cobie Smulders, "She was very professional and her comedic timing was great!"

The cast shrugged off rumors that Alicia Silverstone turned down a role on the show after learning that Spears was on board.

"I think there was some scheduling problems or something," Smulders said, adding that Scrubs star Sarah Chalke "came in at the last second."

Neil Patrick Harris said "there’s hope" Silverstone may still appear on the show at some point.

"She’s seemed to avoid that weird actress trap of only being able to do a very limited amount of things," he told Us. "She’s gone on to do interesting theater, so you’ve got to respect her chops now.

"She’s making smart choices so if she wants to come play with us, we’d be glad to have her!"

Actress Alyson Hannigan is pregnant, her rep Megan Moss tells PEOPLE exclusively.

The How I Met Your Mother star, 34, and her husband, actor Alexis Denisof, 42, will welcome their first child this spring.

The couple met on the set of Buffy the Vampire Slayer during the 1999-2000 season and were married at the Two Bunch Palms resort near Palm Springs, Calif., on Oct. 11, 2003.

On the big screen, Hannigan is famous for her role as band geek Michelle opposite Jason Biggs in the American Pie trilogy.

How I Met Your Mother star Alyson Hannigan gets some hands-on protection from husband Alexis Denisof Thursday as the parents-to-be step out for the 15th annual Lint Roller Party at L.A.'s Hollywood Palladium. I've been watching the marathon showings of What I Like About You (on The-N) and pointing out every baby bump hiding moment from Season 1 (when Jenny Garth was HUGELY pregnant...And then later when she had breastfeeding boobies) and I've started doing the same thing on How I Met Your Mother. On HIMYM they're much more subtle--they just never show Alyson below the neck. But her face is fuller, so she does look different (not pregnant--you wouldn't guess if you hadn't followed her for a while, I don't think) They are a cute couple--has he done any acting recently??
