The usually publicity-shy Harrison Ford breaks his typical silence to speak to PEOPLE magazine this week, in a cover story about his relationship with former "Ally McBeal" star Calista Flockhart.
In a nutshell, the actor, 60, whose new movie "Hollywood Homicide" opens Friday, tells the magazine: "I'm in love."
For the first time in his life, PEOPLE notes, when Ford split with longtime wife screenwriter Melissa Mathison in 2001, he became regular tabloid fodder, with reports detailing his nightclub carousing and linking him to the likes of Minnie Driver and Lara Flynn Boyle.
"(The media) spun the most cloth with the least material again and again," Ford says. "It was very hurtful to my kids. It was hurtful to a lot of people, because 90 percent of it was wrong."
And when Ford met Flockhart, 38, at the January 2002 Golden Globes, he wasn't looking for love, says PEOPLE. "There have been times in my life when I have felt I was lonely, but I don't think you want to live your life in order to mitigate against loneliness," he says.
Flockhart, whose reported past flames include actor Ben Stiller, 37, and comedian Garry Shandling, 53, says she had no prior designs on Ford: "I remember loving him in 'Mosquito Coast,' but I didn't really think about him," she says.
As for Ford, "I watched 'Ally McBeal' from time to time before I met her, but now she won't let me watch it," he says. "She doesn't like to see herself."

Notoriously private star Harrison Ford is fuming after an American tabloid claimed he has plans to wed long-time belle Calista Flockhart. Ford's publicists are scrambling to play down the reports after news of a September marriage made headlines in this week's Globe magazine. They insist it's not true. The couple, who aren't even engaged, are also playing down the rumors, but friends insist fans can look out for a late September wedding. One pal tells the tabloid, "It will be the biggest event of the fall."

"Hilarious" is probably not the first adjective that springs to mind when one thinks of Harrison Ford . "Heroic," yes, "cool," almost definitely, but "hilarious"? A look back at his past credits, though, reveals that this action icon is no stranger to comedy ? a fact he's more than happy to emphasize.
"I have done comedies from the very beginning of my career," Ford says. "I've always considered the Indiana Jones movies to be comedies. In Star Wars, I had a comedic role to play. And then I've done a lot of romantic comedies, like Sabrina and Six Days, Seven Nights, which by their nature are somewhat less funny than this movie is."
"This movie" is Hollywood Homicide, Ford's most recent effort, which finds the 60-year-old actor starring as an LAPD detective opposite Josh Hartnett. Directed by Ron Shelton (Bull Durham ), the film mixes action and comedy, giving Ford the chance to crack wise while he's pursuing the bad guys. "I like making comedies, but what I'm always looking for is the best material that I can find, the best people that I can work with, and something different than what I've done lately," he explains. "I think I got a lot of that with this opportunity."
For all Ford's enthusiasm, Hollywood Homicide hasn't exactly made a killing at the box office; the film grossed a disappointing $11.7 million its opening weekend. His next project, however, has blockbuster written all over it ? the long-awaited fourth Indiana Jones adventure. Ford won't spill any details ("I'm looking forward to working with Steven [Spielberg ] again" is all he'll offer), but the film appears set to go before cameras sometime next year with an eye towards a possible Independence Day 2005 release.
Meanwhile, Ford already seems to be getting back into character. Asked if he has any favorite quotes from his many movies, he chooses Dr. Jones' well-remembered quip, "It's not the years, it's the mileage." "I still like to insist that," the once and future Indy says, smiling. "I may be old, but I'm relatively low mileage."

National Enquirer Online
I'M GOING OUT ON A LIMB, KIDS . . . but here's news to warm your gossipy little hearts: By the powers vested in me as your Guru of Gossip, I officially predict wedding bells for superstars Calista Flockhart and Harrison Ford! How do I know? Well, I don't, really . . . I'm predicting! But about a week ago, the Ford in Calista's future showed up at Glendale Infiniti, checked out a decked-out SUV, and jokingly ID'd himself to the awestruck salesman as "Mr. Flockhart." He was in a happy mood, so the salesguy courageously asked, "Are you going to marry her?" Replied the witty heartthrob: "Well, if I'm buying her a new car, I guess I am moving in that direction!" YOU HEAR THAT, GOSSIP FANS?? That's more than a definite "maybe"! Here's the kicker -- Ford bought the SUV for Calista and registered it in HER name! Trust me, people -- order the rice NOW!

EVER POPULAR: Before she played a highly imaginative lawyer on TV's Ally McBeal, Calista Flockhart was a cheerleader and student council member at Shawnee High School in New Jersey (left, in 1983). Next up for the actress and mom (at the Golden Globes in March, right): the movie comedy Providence with Alec Baldwin and Matthew Broderick, due out next year.

MOST IMPROVED: At Maine Township High School in Des Plaines, Ill., "Harry" Ford (left) was shy and unremarkable, classmates say, and later flunked out of college ? but not before discovering the stage. In 1977, his role in Star Wars catapulted him to stardom. These days the father of four (right, in L.A. in June) is enjoying a relationship with Calista Flockhart and a busy film career.

Calista Flockhart is close to signing a deal to star in a play on London's West End. The former Ally McBeal, who is currently dating Harrison Ford, will take the lead in a production of Eugene O'Neill's Pulitzer Prize-winning play Anna Christie from early next year. Anna Christie, which will be directed Ian Rickson , is about a Swedish woman sent away by her barge-captain father as a child, only to return 20 years later. Production spokesperson Sonia Friedman says, "We are in final negotiations and we're very close to doing this deal." Before finding fame in Ally McBeal, Flockhart came from a theatre background, starring in Broadway, New York plays The Three Sisters, The Glass Menagerie and Bash.

Movie star Harrison Ford has revealed his relationship with Calista Flockhart is "on the rocks", during a drunken night out in Mexico. The Indiana Jones star, 61, was presumed to be pressing ahead with wedding plans with the former Ally McBeal star, 39, after the finalization of his divorce from ex-wife Melissa Mathison last week. But, after downing at least five tequilas with beer chasers and dancing and flirting with local women in a bar in San Felipe, Baja California, the "drunk and bewildered" actor told revelers of his two-year relationship with Flockhart, "It's on the rocks". Locals were stunned to find themselves in the company of the normally reclusive star, after he flew himself in on his own private jet and stayed in a local hotel.

riddle of the lost love
From BRIAN FLYNN
in New York
HARRISON Ford ditched lover Calista Flockhart for a boozy bachelor
party ? then told a bevy of beauties: "It's on the rocks."
The Indiana Jones star, 61, stunned partygoers at a Mexican bar by
knocking back tequila shots and Corona beers ? and then LIMBO danced
under the bar.
Revellers said he looked "drunk and bewildered" at the seedy joint
before leaving with his arm around a mystery blonde.
He told amazed boozers that he flew himself in on his own jet and was
staying at a nearby hotel.
They watched as he HUGGED a string of beauties, SMOOCHED on the
dancefloor, SLUMPED in a seat and STAGGERED across the bar.
After three hours drinking, he finally left and asked one reveller:
"How do I get out of here?"
One drinker said: "I saw him drink at least five tequilas with beer
chasers. He probably had more."
The star hit the town to mark the finalising of his bitter divorce
from screenwriter Melissa Mathison.
But Ally McBeal star Calista, 39, was nowhere to be seen at the bar in
San Felipe, Baja.
And when quizzed about their relationship, Harrison said: "It's on the
rocks."
Drinkers said the boozy star limbo-danced under the bar counter ?
despite recent shoulder surgery.
One added: "He couldn't keep his hands off any female that came his
way.
"He staggered out of the bar and down the street wrapped around a
blonde."
The notoriously private star even posed with his arms around a Mexican
brunette and a blonde.
Harrison got together with Calista after she spilt wine over him at
the 2002 Golden Globe awards.
Harrison's aides last night refused to confirm whether they had split.

Harrison and Flockhart "Extremely Happy"
imdb.com
Hollywood couple Harrison Ford and Calista Flockhart have laughed off reports of a split - insisting they are "extremely happy." The Indiana Jones star was snapped with two women in a Baja Peninsula, California bar at the weekend, and sources claim the 61-year-old actor told his female companions his relationship was "on the rocks". However, Harrison's manager Patricia McQueeney counters, "I talked to Harrison, and he said they're together, in fact, they're extremely happy together. The blonde woman in the picture was the owner of the restaurant, and the other woman was a fan who asked for a picture. He agreed. But now he's disgusted."

COMPARED: Despite reports, a lawyer tells the BBC that the $90-million divorce settlement that Harrison Ford, 61, reportedly lavished upon ex-wife Melissa Mathison, 53, after 18 years of marriage (and two children) is not the highest in Hollywood history. That honor goes to Steven Spielberg, who forked over $100 million to wife Amy Irving in 1989. Other big ones: Tom Cruise gave Nicole Kidman $85 million on 2001, Michael Douglas allegedly paid ex-wife Diandra $68 million before his marriage to Catherine Zeta-Jones, and Bruce Willis is said to have given $70 million to the departing Demi Moore.

Ford and Flockhart To Split?
imdb.com
Hollywood couple Harrison Ford and Calista Flockhart are on the verge of splitting up after the Indiana Jones star's cold response to news Flockhart's dog had died, according to insiders. Ally McBeal star Flockhart was taken aback by Ford's lack of compassion when mongrel terrier Webster died, even though his mother had passed away just weeks before. An insider says, "Harrison doesn't think losing a dog is a big deal, but it is causing all sorts of problems because Webster was essentially Calista's best friend. She can see why Harrison is really upset at the death of his mother, but she doesn't think that should detract from her own grief. She told me she thinks he doesn't care. Harrison is so down he can't even think about anything else, he thinks Calista is being too dramatic." The cracks in their three year relationship started to appear after 62-year-old Ford had to pay out a $90 million divorce settlement to ex-wife Melissa Mathison in January and was pictured soon afterwards dancing in a tequila bar in Mexico with two women.

Ford and Flockhart Set Sail
MSN.com
Usually, when celebrities decide to take a cruise, they book a yacht and hire several full-time staff members (including, if they're really high-maintenance, a personal umbrella holder) to wait on them hand and foot. But deluxe service apparently doesn't appeal to Harrison Ford and Calista Flockhart, who took a low-key approach to their summer vacation.
According to published reports, the under-the-radar couple spent several days floating around the Welsh countryside on a canal boat, handling all the sailing duties themselves. Their only staff member was a nanny for Calista's son, Liam.
"Harrison Ford said he had been all over the world but he really liked Wales because no one was driving him mad," the manager of a four-star hotel where the pair crashed dished to the London Daily Mail. "They were supposed to sleep in the canal boat but he said it was a bit cramped and cold."
The still svelte but no longer scarily skinny Flockhart rose early each morning for a yoga workout in the hotel garden and was spied chowing down on everything from Dover sole to scrambled eggs and sausage.
The chatty manager adds to the London Sun, "Harrison is a very gentle man and talks with respect. He was not arrogant at all and was down on the floor playing with Liam. No one could believe Indiana Jones was really here." Ford and Flockhart reportedly headed off to Barcelona on Wednesday.

Harrison's Canal Holiday Boosts Business
imdb.com
Hollywood superstar Harrison Ford 's recent canal boat holiday in Wales has massively boosted business for the firm who leased them a boat. Maestermyn Hire Cruises, the company who rented a six-berth narrow boat to Ford and his lover Calista Flockhart , have seen business triple since press coverage of the couple's trip. And now the firm is expanding their fleet of boats, they have decided to name one of the new vessels in tribute to Flockhart - by giving it the moniker Calista. Co-owner Chris Hill says, "Interest has increased ten-fold. Aside from all the people who are calling just to ask if they can sit on the boat, genuine enquiries have forced an increase in the number of boats on hire. We're fitting one out now and there are two more in the pipeline. We're intending to name one Calista." According to insiders, Flockhart was so impressed with the holiday she has asked for more information on canals to be sent to her Los Angeles home.
