In an interview for ABC's "20/20" with Barbara Walters on Friday, heavy metal matriarch Sharon Osbourne admits that she briefly left husband Ozzy Osbourne because of his recent substance abuse.
Fans of the couple know that Ozzy's been on and off the wagon for years now, but apparently the problem became more acute around the time son Jack, 17, was himself entering rehab, reports Reuters.
"I just said, 'You just have to stop,' and he didn't," says Osbourne, 50, of her husband's pill and alcohol habit. "And I said, 'Well then, I'm going.' And I packed my bags and I left."
Osbourne says her husband quit drinking the moment she left but she needed to make sure he was going to stick with it and so she didn't return for four more days.
"After four days I came back to see him. And he was trying so hard. So hard. Still is clean and sober," she said.
The whole family is still learning to deal with Sharon's much-publicized battle with colon cancer. Jack, who spent two months in rehab kicking alcohol and drugs, says he tried to commit suicide by overdosing because he was so despondent over his mother's illness, which is now in remission.

(BANG) - Ozzy Osbourne has admitted to having a face lift.
The 56-year-old rocker had previously denied rumours he'd had plastic surgery, saying he owed his looks to giving up drink, drugs and his rock 'n' roll lifestyle.
But the singer has now confessed: "I've had a face job and a new nose.''
The former Black Sabbath star also revealed how the procedure had been great for his self-esteem, saying: "It boosted my confidence no end.''
Ozzy's wife Sharon is also no stranger to plastic surgery, admitting to spending £120,000 on operations.
In January, the reality TV star revealed she went under the knife to correct her down-pointing nipples.

The 56-year-old rocker had previously denied rumours he'd had plastic surgery, saying he owed his looks to giving up drink, drugs and his rock 'n' roll lifestyle.
But the singer has now confessed: "I've had a face job and a new nose.''
The former Black Sabbath star also revealed how the procedure had been great for his self-esteem, saying: "It boosted my confidence no end.''
Ozzy's wife Sharon is also no stranger to plastic surgery, admitting to spending £120,000 on operations.
In January, the reality TV star revealed she went under the knife to correct her down-pointing nipples.
She said at the time: "They're now pointing in the direction I want and everything's looking up.''
However, Ozzy insists he didn't persuade his wife to have cosmetic surgery, saying he loved her for who she is.

Jack spent four days at the elite Fairtex Muaythai Fitness Camp near Bangkok, the Thai capital, before traveling to the popular tourist island of Pha-Ngan for "a complete physical detox, which was basically twice-daily massive colonic irrigations to kind of flush himself out of toxins," Stobart said.
Jack returned to the boxing camp for 10 more days of training before facing off against an experienced Thai boxer known only as "The Man."
With Ozzy and Sharon cheering him on, Jack knocked his opponent out eight seconds into the second round, said Philip Wong, Jack's trainer. Muaythai fights usually have five three-minute rounds.
"I was very impressed with his training," said Wong. "He behaved and he trained so hard for it ... he lost 20 pounds when he was with me."

The Black Sabbath star had always assumed his body shakes were due to a lifetime of drug and alcohol abuse - and had a series of misdiagnoses including one medic who said he had multiple sclerosis.
The reality TV rocker was given the all-clear for Parkinson's disease in 2003 after complaining his uncontrollable tremors were "destroying his life".
But doctors have now decided the 56-year-old simply has a hereditary condition.
