Beyonce: Destiny's Child to Reunite
STEPHEN M. SILVERMAN
people.com
Beyonce Knowles, Kelly Rowland and Michelle Williams -- collectively known as Destiny's Child -- will reunite in the studio to begin work on their first album of new material together in more than two years, lead singer Knowles tells Reuters.
"Destiny's Child will be back in the studio in January," she says. When last seen in a studio together, the Grammy-winning R&B trio put together "Survivor," their top-selling third album, in 2001.
The three singers went their separate ways later that year in pursuit of solo projects. Knowles, 22, took to the silver screen, with her role as Foxxy Cleopatra in 2002's "Austin Powers in Goldmember" (not to mention the upcoming movie, "The Fighting Temptations," opening Friday). She also scored a hit earlier this year with her solo record, "Dangerously in Love."
Rowland made her solo debut last year with the alternative-sound "Simply Deep," while Williams recorded the gospel "Heart to Yours."
Knowles says she may also release another collection of her own songs before the new Destiny's Child effort, and went on to say that the trio, which started 10 years ago, will also be looking to develop a fresh sound.
"I recorded about 45 songs for my record, but only put 15 on it," Knowles revealed. "I still have a lot of songs that I really love that I couldn't put on the record. So I might be releasing another record of my unreleased songs before the Destiny's Child record comes out."
As for the "new" Destiny's Child: "I want us to work together from the very start on every song because everybody has grown so much," she said. "It's been a couple of years. I know the sound is going to mature and be a little different. We have to figure it out."

DESTINY'S FUTURE
There may be a light up ahead for Destiny's Child fans who have been waiting for the band to reunite. After a nearly three-year break, Michelle Williams says the group is heading back to the studio in June. "I've very excited about the reunion," Williams told Daily Insider at the L.A. premiere of Johnson Family Vacation (which costars Solange Knowles, Beyonce's sister). "We haven't picked producers yet, but Kelly (Rowland) had a concept for the album and what we would do." Williams told us more at a Tommy Hilfiger event in Orange County, outside L.A.: "We're hoping that (the new Destiny's Child album) will come out by the Christmas holidays, but we have to see. We're still all doing our own things. We all need to get together and say, 'Okay.' We just have a ball. I saw Beyonce's show in Chicago; me and Kelly were with her in San Antonio. We love and support and just have a ball. And even though we were away, we know what our first priority is, and that's Destiny's Child."

Destiny's Child Reunites for 'Billion'
(Thursday, June 24 01:42 PM)
LOS ANGELES (Zap2it.com) - It took a billion dollars to get Destiny's Child back together.
All right, so that's not entirely accurate, although it's safe to assume that Beyonce Knowles, Kelly Rowland and Michelle Williams are well-compensated. It's a fact, though, that the platinum-selling group will be featured on ABC's "Play for a Billion" special in September.
The Pepsi-sponsored special, in which contest winners will get a shot at a nine-zero grand prize, is set to air Sept. 12. The show will feature one of Destiny's Child's first gigs as a group in close to two years, performing a song from their new album.
"We are really looking forward to getting back on stage and performing together as a group," Knowles says. "The Pepsi 'Play for a Billion' show is a great place to share our new music."
"Play for a Billion" will give several hundred people who enter a Pepsi-run sweepstakes a chance to win $1 billion, the biggest prize ever awarded in a sweepstakes game. Chances are fairly slim that someone will walk away one of the richest people on the planet, but one finalist is guaranteed to win $1 million.
Damon Wayans ("My Wife and Kids") will host the show, which is moving to ABC from The WB.

Justin Timberlake is out, and Destiny?s Child is in ? as the new faces on McDonald?s.
The burger giant's two-year-old "I'm Lovin' It" ad campaign, which has been featuring Timberlake and his recognizable five-note jingle, will be taken over by the pop trio of Beyonce Knowles, Kelly Rowland and Michelle Williams, in a bid to expand the Golden Arches' appeal among children and, importantly, their mothers, reports Reuters.
"We believe this appeals to kids, and when kids are happy Mom is happy," said McDonald's global marketing chief Larry Light in a statement following a Wednesday press conference.
He declined to say how much his corporation was paying the singers, or when the new Destiny's Child ads would begin to appear.
Said Beyonce in a statement: "We're lovin' the chance to work with McDonald's and know that together we'll create lots of fun and cool surprises. ... McDonald's shares our passion for music, so we can't wait to start connecting to our fans."
Timberlake, meanwhile, has not commented on being pushed aside, but he will make his final appearance for the chain this week in Toronto, Light said. He added that the star's "I'm Lovin' It" song will continue to figure prominently in McDonald's advertising.

Aunt Beyoncé spilled the beans on her baby sister's new baby.
Solange Knowles, Beyoncé's 18-year-old, pop-singing sibling, gave birth to her first child last week.
It was Beyoncé who broke the news, telling E! Saturday at the star-studded Carousel of Hope fundraiser in Los Angeles that "my sister just had a baby four days ago."
Indeed, Solange gave birth Oct. 18 to a baby boy named Daniel Julez J. Smith. Not so little Daniel tipped the scales at nine pounds, four ounces upon his grand entrance in a Los Angeles hospital. He is the first child for Solange and her husband, Daniel Smith.
The younger Knowles married Smith, a University of Texas football player, in February (you do the math) in a small ceremony in the Bahamas attended by her family, including Beyoncé and cousin Kelly Rowland.
Though Solange was once rumored to be joining Destiny's Child as a fourth member, those plans have apparently been put on hold as she builds her own career. The younger Knowles, who like her diva sister prefers using just her first name, recently starred in Johnson Family Vacation opposite Cedric the Entertainer and Bow Wow, and she has been putting the wraps on a new solo album, the follow-up to her 2003 debut, Solo Star.

London's Date with Destiny
people.com
When Destiny's Child visited London's Virgin Megastore this week, they were greeted by throngs of fans who had lined up (or "queued up," as they say across the Pond) for hours to catch a glimpse of the bootylicious troika. "They got here and it was complete chaos. The crowds were so bad outside that the car couldn't even get right up to the door for them to get out!" says a spy. Beyonce, Kelly Rowland and Michelle Williams, who signed copies of their single "Lose My Breath," were in high spirits as they sang along to the song, on constant replay in the store, and sipped bottles of water with the labels removed (as per their Pepsi contract). Their CD, Destiny Fulfilled, hits stores Nov. 16.

Beyonce Justifies McDonald's Contract
imdb.com
Pop beauty Beyonce Knowles has leapt to the defense of her contract with fast food giants McDonald's - insisting she has always loved eating the chain's food. Knowles' group Destiny's Child have signed a deal with the American restaurant company to sponsor their forthcoming 2005 tour. And despite mixed reactions from fans and media critics, Knowles insists she's delighted with the business venture. She enthuses, "The great thing about McDonald's is that they have a lot of different things on the menu. I love their salads. This was before we knew we were working with McDonald's." Knowles is sure to horrify Super Size Me documentary director Morgan Spurlock - who became ill after living on McDonald's food for 30 days - by admitting she feasts on McDonald's food on a daily basis. She explains, "I ate McDonald's every day when we were recording. We get the chance to visit children at Ronald McDonald houses, where some are sick and some have different things going on with them. So hopefully we get a chance to help put smiles on their faces. To be part of that is beautiful."

Tycoon son's bar mitzvah has Beyoncé and $7M tab

DAILY NEWS STAFF WRITER
A British billionaire is reportedly spending $7 million to throw a coming-of-age party for his son that will include private performances by Beyoncé and Destiny's Child.
Retailing magnate Philip Green flew more than 200 guests by chartered jet to a $2,000-a-night hotel in the South of France for the weekend, The Times of London reported.
A temporary synagogue was erected on the grounds of the Grand Hotel du Cap Ferrat for the religious ceremony, which marks a 13-year-old Jewish boy's transition to adulthood.
Green, who owns department store chains and is worth $6 billion, has packed the guest list with business associates and aging British celebrities.
But a concert by Beyoncé's platinum-selling trio and a rumored appearance by pop prince Justin Timberlake will keep the younger guests happy.
"Philip's party is going to be the biggest and the best," said a source close to the host. "The surprises will be nonstop for those lucky enough to attend."
If it sounds awfully extravagant, consider this: Green spent $9 million to throw his own 50th birthday bash, a three-day affair in Cyprus that featured a toga party and appearances by Tom Jones and Rod Stewart.

After nearly15 years together, it's over for Destiny's Child, with Beyonce Knowles, Kelly Rowland and Michelle Williams set to go their separate ways after wrapping up their current Destiny Fulfilled ... And Lovin' It Tour.Rowland made the surprise announcement onstage before 16,0000 fans in Barcelona this Saturday. The following day, the trio released a statement to MTV News, saying: "We have been working together as Destiny's Child since we were 9, and touring together since we were 14. After a lot of discussion and some deep soul searching, we realized that our current tour has given us the opportunity to leave Destiny's Child on a high note, united in our friendship and filled with an overwhelming gratitude for our music, our fans, and each other."
The three, who started together in Houston, consider this "the time to pursue our personal goals and solo efforts in earnest."
The statement also went on to say: "No matter what happens, we will always love each other as friends and sisters and will always support each other as artists. We want to thank all of our fans for their incredible love and support and hope to see you all again as we continue fulfilling our destinies."
After the U.S. tour (which kicks off July 9, immediately following the current European swing) the group will retire the name and concentrate individually on movie, music, live theater and TV careers. The final concert is slated for Sept. 10 in Vancouver, Canada.
Beyonce, who will launch a fashion and cosmetics line this fall, has long been the group's breakout star, though, as MTV notes, it was Williams who first released a solo album, the 2002 gospel title Heart to Yours.
Still, it was Beyonce, 23, who's made it to the top of the singles' charts, with such hits as "Crazy in Love." She's also already landed on the movie screen, costarring with Mike Meyers in the third Austin Powers comedy, Goldmember – and was a prominent performer on this year’s Oscars.

Rowland Loves Suv Too Much To Go Green
R+B star KELLY ROWLAND has no plans to trade in her gas guzzling sports utility vehicle (SUV) for a more environmentally friendly car - because 'green' cars don't "look fun".
The Like This singer admits she is frequently made to feel guilty about her Range Rover's lack of green credentials, but she blames her Texan roots for instilling in her a love of big cars.
And she is adamant she will never give up her "baby" - at least until Range Rover engineers develop a stylish hybrid she can be proud of.
She says, "I prefer a big truck like a Range Rover. I drive one when I'm at home. I'm totally a Texas girl at heart. Put me in a cowboy hat behind the wheel of a massive truck and I'm happy.
"Driving a truck has been my dream since I was a little girl. My car's like a baby, it means everything to me. I think about her every day.
"My sister's hugely into environmental stuff, and she gives me a lot of heartache about it. She's got a Lexus Hybrid car but that thing doesn't look fun. When Range Rover makes a hybrid I'll go green. Until then, my apologies to Planet Earth."

Kelly Rowland has been in talks with EMI about releasing a new record in 2010.
The ex-Destiny's Child star split with manager Mathew Knowles in January and was dropped by Columbia Records in March.

Happily Single Kelly Rowland
Kelly Rowland has no desire to get married in the near future.
The 'Baby By Me' singer is enjoying the freedom she has now she's single and has no plans to settle down even though many of her friends have recently tied the knot.
She said: "Being single is about celebrating and appreciating your own space that you're in. I couldn't have lived alone before. I always needed someone to share my space but now I like being by myself. If I want to be with people then I see my friends; if I want a date then I'll have one.
"Everybody's time is different. I don't expect to go down the same road as anyone else. I think it's important not to put ourselves in someone else's shoes, when they're in a time in their life that we aren't. We have to appreciate where we are in our life in order to move on."
Kelly also said the only person she wants to make happy at the moment is herself.
She told Britain's OK! magazine: "You have to be happy with you and every decision you make. We can get caught up in what other people expect of us, but it's important to live in your space and not anyone else's."

Singer Michelle Williams to Star in Broadway's Chicago
Former Destiny's Child star Michelle Williams will see her name in lights next month when she high-kicks her way into the starring role of Roxie Hart in Chicago on Broadway.
Williams, 29, will play the wannabe star-turned-murderess for a limited run in the hit musical from Feb. 8 to March 28.
Williams will be taking over from Ashlee Simpson-Wentz, who debuted in the revival on Dec. 1. (A winner of six Tonys, this production of Chicago has been running on Broadway for 13 years.)
Williams first played Roxie last year in London's West End production.
Williams, who won three Grammy Awards while she was with Destiny’s Child, has since released three solo albums and in 2003 made her Broadway debut in Aida, replacing fellow singer Toni Braxton. She also performed in the national tour of The Color Purple.
