  1. As a person in recovery myself, I can tell you this has all the hallmarks of diverting attention from a major bender. I once told my employer I had toxic shock syndrome to explain away one of mine. She's a lying sack of sh*t.

The stories that real people/civilians talk about on this board sometimes make me feel really bad about my celeb gossip snark. But I have to tell myself there are differences between Lohan and Annabeast.

I do know that chemical dependency (drugs, alcohol, whatever) is a disease. I support treatment for it, and hope that those afflicted can get help and have happy, productive futures. But I don't think that the people who make money off addicts in Hollywood allow them to do so (whether that's the actor/singer, the momager, the director, the agent, whomever.....)

Then I feel bad that my gossip addiction just feeds the monster. Damn.

Nah, the monsters feed themselves. Just remember, the only person who can save Lindsay is Lindsay. And while she is certainly a very sick individual, she is also manipulative. She is responsible for her actions, and her lies affect other people. Like, making up a medical condition to explain her absence in what is likely a contractual obligation to SHOW UP, so that she doesn't get sued for breach. And honestly, I've seen some crazy stuff among my fellow Friends of Bill, but none of them would enable this crap she is pulling. She doesn't have a real sponsor, because a real sponsor would tell her (wait for it) to give the money back for the two weeks she missed. Like that is ever going to happen.

  2. With the exception of moving in with her parents (and that may be a short-term thing before moving her into a sober living environment with roommates), they are doing all the right things to give Amanda a normal, stable, independent life. smile.gif

I agree. I hope it works out for her.

  3. Such a random one tonight, I had to share: Bobby Brown sat at table with his wife and two kids behind me tonight at Jay's Restaurant in Carlsbad, CA. Can't touch this :D

Ummm are you confusing BB with MC Hammer? :4biggrin:

Uuuhh.. Guess you can tell I was drinking wine that nite :D Correct celeb sighting, wrong song reference.

Well I for one would not be able to come up with a Bobby Brown song reference anyway, so "can't touch this" works for me.

  4. I was looking to buy a new barbecue for my husband for our anniversary and my first stop was (almost) Sears. I was greeted at the entrance by a huge picture of these horrible people. I took the time to email Sears and let them know I won't be shopping there anymore, which is huge since we normally buy our major appliances there.

  5. Anyone else think its odd that she is obsessed with saying she doesn't do coke? Like, why would ANYONE believe that... so say NOTHING. I guess it's okay to be an international call girl who is sloppy drunk on a daily basis... as long as you don't do coke.

That being said, I don't believe her for one second. She sure got the script down in rehab, though.

And, hey Oprah? Nothing says desperate like stunt casting.

  6. Umm, this may be reaching, but one of the weekly mags had a cover story about her and and Kate being due at the same time.

This would be a helluva way to get a jump on the publicity wouldn't it?

Anybody wondering what the opening bids on the baby pics will be?

I have a completely different spin on the whole "early" thing, because I lived through it with my oldest step-daughter. She got pregnant by a guy who wanted NOTHING to do with her, and she BEGGED the doctor to give her a C-section five weeks early so that she could have the baby before he shipped off to Afganistan, hoping that the clouds would open and a wedding ring would drop out of the sky when he laid eyes on his child. Luckily, the doctor was having none of that. It ended happily, in that she ended up married very shortly after to a (different) guy who loves her and treats her son like his own, but never underestimate the power of manipulation to "keep your man." That being said, isn't it rather coincidental that she had a C-section during a short period of time while Ego Man happened to be in the states?

    Yes, I'm jaded.

  7. Grace said, adding that “no child should have 700,000 followers on Twitter or any other social media platform.”

Totally agree. So what are the fucked up ADULTS in the situation doing to create boundaries for this MINOR?

I don't think you can blame the audience in this situation......

I'm happy to see that someone who has normal parenting instincts is around these kids. SHE should get custody and move to another country with them until they are of age to be on their own.

  8. It dawned on me to say this, now that we are planning our second trip to New Orleans this summer.

As good as Brad Pitt's intentions appear to be, the houses he commissioned for the lower ninth ward in New Orleans are nothing short of butt-ugly. It was shocking to see them, to say the least. When we were there last summer, the adoption rate of the new homes wasn't impressive, and all I could think of while I was looking at them was "vanity project." I know Brad fancies himself quite the architectual connoisseur.... but come on.

Don't get me wrong, I am impressed that he thought to do this for them, but it would have been nice if he at least had the 13 architectual firms ATTEMPT to capture the flavor of the old neighborhood. There are some homes remaining, and even in their beat up condition, have more charm than even one of the pre-fab trailer homes.

  9. I have an uncle who actually used to "hang" with George after his shows in Chicago when they were younger because that is where my uncle lived at the time and when I say "hang", I mean do what George was known for back in them days. On April 10th, my uncle lost one of his sisters who happened to be the only grandparent that I had left. She was 91. I am so ready for the month of May to be here because the month of April has been way too death filled and it isn't even over yet. (burying my head)

God bless you and my uncle and George's family always!!!
