When LIFE asked comic Chris Rock if America is ready for an African American president, Rock tells LIFE: “It’s ready for a retarded president, why wouldn’t it be ready for an African American president?”

 

Of the current presidential contenders, Rock says, “I like Al Gore, actually. (A) He’s more qualified than everyone that’s running on the Democratic side. ( If he won or didn’t win, he has an agenda to help people and make this a better world...” Rock tells LIFE: “Maybe Barack will win, but I probably won’t see a black president. There’s real equality when you don’t notice [race], you don’t even talk about it. I probably won’t live to see that.”

 

The 42-year-old Brooklyn-raised comic’s latest project, I Think I Love My Wife, which he cowrote, directed, and stars in, examines a marriage that’s in a slump. Rock talks to LIFE about rumors concerning his own 10-year marriage to Malaak Compton-Rock, fatherhood and happiness in the current issue of LIFE, in newspapers Friday.

Whoa - for some reason I thought Kelis had a kind of squeaky-clean reputation (her milkshake aside). Maybe I read her interviews and buy the hype.

I'm not fond of Liz Hurley, and this combined-family wedding photo makes me think she'd be the evil stepmother from HELL. "A delightful little thing called boarding school."

 

Jennifer Hudson reportedly turned down a $3 million dollar payday to appear in a film where nudity was required from a co-star.

I heard this on the radio.

 

She apparently refuses to do a film where nudity is required from anyone because she considers herself a role model for all aspiring young women actresses or something.

 

Power to her. I don't know how long she can survive with that kind of thinking - I mean, I love me some J-Hud and all, but shouldn't she protest violence over sexuality? Or is that just me?

 

I totally agree, Babloo. Priorities as regards censorship are a little weird here in the US.

Isn't it wonderful how every single celebrity couple that breaks up remains close friends and wants us to respect their privacy.

Drew Barrymore and her boyfriend, Strokes drummer Fabrizio Moretti, have called it quits, according to Us Weekly.

The couple had been dating since April of 2002.

“Drew said they needed time off,” a source close to the actress tells Us.

One reason for the breakup is a clash of lifestyle and personalities.

“He’s younger, and she’s more worldly,” says a source of Barrymore. “He doesn’t like the Hollywood stuff. He doesn’t get her friends.”

The pair have been together since April of 2002 and seemed a good match on the surface, friends tell the mag. “Drew has always had a taste for subculture.”

Well, it wasn't such a ten-dollar word for men from the Donald's generation . It was a synonym for a pansy or a lesbian, and that's exactly how he's using it.

To be honest, I think his sexiness is his whole demenour, not just his body (though that clearly helps) - he seems very real, and he has beautiful eyes - there is something quite raw (in a good way) about him that has nothing to do with his physique and everything to do with his persona and/or acting ability.

I'll stop gushing now...

I saw the film this weekend - the film was like "eh", with some stylish asides, but Daniel Craig was SMOKING hot. Seriously one of the sexiest men I have ever seen on film. I recommend it just to see his smokingness.

 

I agree that it's rude (outrageous) for anyone to put a hand over someone's mouth - but let's not be oblivious to the fact that Ripa would have been 1,000 x more likely to say that to a gay guy than a straight one.

Yeah, but Clay has never admitted he is gay, even though we all know he is. I think it was probably just her reflex to push him away and say whatever. What she said isn't even that offensive. Rosie is reading WAY too much into it. jmo
