  1. (Reuters) - Pop princess Britney Spears is joining the growing club of celebrities-turned-designers, launching her own fashion collection that targets the schoolgirl crowd.

Spears, 28, has designed her first collection of clothing and accessories for the Iconix Brand Group Inc's Candie's brand for which she has been the face for the past three seasons.

The juniors' collection, called "Britney for Candie's," will be sold exclusively in Kohl's Department stories from July 1 to kick off the back-to-school season.

"Designing was a really fun, new way for me to express my creativity and I really wanted to create something by me for my fans," Spears said in a statement.

She said the collection, inspired by her favorite music and movies, as a mixture of day and evening looks, ranging from jeans to little black dresses.

A print and television advertising campaign to promote the line features the tagline: "Designed by me for you!"

Spears earlier this year ended a world tour to support her 2008 album "Circus" which was widely regarded as her comeback after a public meltdown when the singer lost custody of her two children, did stints in rehab and shaved her head.

She rocketed to fame as a teenager 10 years ago with hits like "Baby One More Time" and is still one of the best-known celebrities in the world.

  2. You know, I've never really understood the hate for Jen on the various gossip sites. She has my idea of the perfect body-lean,but not skinny, toned but not too muscular, great hair and while some think her face is ugly, I think its cute, funny and friendly. Can you imagine her with a drop-dead perfect face a la' Megan Fox ? She just wouldn't seem as likable, to me at least. She's not out clubbing and partying every night but seems like she would be a fun friend to have. I love her understated sense of style. I guess I've only seen Jen interviewed once or twice and she's always come across as nice and down to earth. I think the 'poor me image' is something dreamed up by the media who are still looking to stir the brangelina pot for ratings. I probably sound like a big fan, but I'm not. Just wondering why the hate....

  3. OMG! I loved these books as a child and read and reread them so many times. I've never encountered anyone else who has even heard of these before. Thanks for the review-its nice to know they are not totally forgotten. Did you love all the Borrower books too?

I love these books, have read them over and over again since childhood (almost, though not quite as often as the Anne of Green Gables series) There was a piece in the WSJ over the weekend: http://online.wsj.com/article/SB1000142405...4006375536.html

    Fun stuff (for me)!!!
