    It's New Year's Eve which means 2 things:

    • I'm home alone, and will be in bed well before midnight
    • It's time for a new divorce poll :alien_dance:

    As you can see, I really tried to change it up this time. (We'll see how it works; in the future, we might return to the old tradition of keeping the majority of couples who didn't split in the previous year.) In any case, I hope that The Peanut Gallery :P will approve. I took all suggestions into consideration.

     

    Now let the Hollywood Marriage Games of 2016 begin! (We all know that the odds are never in their favor...)

    Edited to add: I never even thought about adding Brad & Angelina until just this moment. I don't think they'll split any time soon and if they do, they'll keep it deeply under wraps for the sake of their Brand... but, what do you think? Should be on the list?

     

    Sure, why not? :)

     

    Well, I'm dedicated to keeping most - not all - of the couples from last year who made it in tact. So... we don't have many open slots :GroupHug:... must pick carefully :)

    Interesting theory :) I, too, absolutely believe they have an open marriage but I'm not sure if that makes them more or less likely to divorce. I'm not being snarky. I know "opening up" can strengthen some relationships and hasten the demise of others... :huh:

    I have definitely included non-married couples in the past BUT this year I'm going to go back to only legally-married couples simply because it's easier to establish when a couple splits if they've been "official;" they have to file paperwork, etc.

     

    Edited to add: I never even thought about adding Brad & Angelina until just this moment. I don't think they'll split any time soon and if they do, they'll keep it deeply under wraps for the sake of their Brand... but, what do you think? Should be on the list?

    Thanks. Great suggestions... which doesn't necessarily mean that they'll be included :D Have to keep everyone guessing until January 1st! :monkey:

     

    Any slightly older couples? In the past, we've included Catherine Zeta Jones and Michael, Annette Bening and Warren, Helena Bonham Carter & Tim... I like including a variety of ages.

    The end of the year is almost upon us which only means one thing... new poll! :)

     

    Last year, there was a bit of griping from the Peanut Gallery ;) after I posted the poll so this year I'm asking for any wishes/ suggestions for the next poll to be made pre-December 29th. Just write them here, in this thread and I will consider them BUT make no assurance of using all, or even any, submissions. Preferences include: couples who've been married for more than a year, couples in which both spouses are famous, legally married couples, and - this is not a preference but, rather, a hard & fast rule - NO KARDASHIANS.

     

    I always keep the majority of poll couples from the year before, basically copying it while removing all divorced couples from the previous year and maybe one or two others, so you can complain all you want about, "couple XYZ has been in the poll for years" but *shrug* that's kind of the point. Most Hollywood couples split, it's just a matter of when...

    Don't want to be a Debbie Downer, but looking at the one from 2011 - we are really not good at this :D

    Haha - true. But, isn't the discussion & speculation really the fun part?

     

    I'm actually interested in/ surprised by many of the votes. For example, I don't think Biel & Timberlake will stay together forever but I can't imagine them officially splitting the same year they have a baby. Same with ScarJo & her frenchman. But, maybe some of you know things that I don't...

    I voted for Portia & Ellen because I beleive the rumours that Ellen is super-controlling. Also, right or wrong, many couples try extra hard to stay together bc of their children and that's one incentive these two don't have. Plus, didn't they get together when they both were with other partners (too lazy to Google it)? If so, that's never a great start to a healthy relationship...

    Most of us who follow celebrity gossip think the couples listed above are totally doomed. So now, it's just a matter of deciding which one will beat the others to arrive in divorce court, first.

     

    As usual, you only get one vote and can't "undo" once it's cast. After you vote, pls post a comment about why you chose your couple.

    It's actually the first year for either of the Jessicas. Gwen & Jennifer both got votes last poll and so I figured I'd keep 'em in.

     

    I wanted to keep many of the same old names (as I have done every year I've made the poll) and also fairly "A-List." I also like that most of these couples are relatively long-term and seem relatively stable... they're well-matched against each other, whereas if we dropped Tori or LeAnn into this mix, I believe 100% of the votes would (understandably) go to them.

     

    However, I like the way you think and will start another poll with these more "loose cannon" couples.

     

    Ah, the joys of fresh questionnaires in the new year!

     

    Ah, the joys of speculating about the misery of celebrity couplings! :)
