    Marie Osmond

Marie Osmond: 'It's OK To Be Alone' TUESDAY JANUARY 01, 2008 06:35 PM EST By Nicholas White Photo by: Joe Major / WENNMarie Osmond: 'It's OK To Be Alone' It was an up-and-down 2007 for Marie Osmond, who says her children kept her strong through the drama. "I have great kids. I love my kids, you know that, and it's OK," Osmond, 48, tells Extra. "It's OK to be alone, and it's OK to be busy. It's a choice you make to be positive with what comes at you in life." While dancing into third place on Dancing with the Stars, Osmond, who has eight children, had a rough year with her family. Father George, 90, died in November, her 20-year marriage to record producer Brian Blosil dissolved in March, and her teenage son Michael checked into rehab. Plus, Osmond herself fainted on live national TV. And while Osmond is mulling a DWTS tour with dancing partner Jonathan Roberts and a possible talk show, she is enjoying time with her children. "I'd love to sing opera, I love theater," Osmond says. "But truly, when you get to a certain place in your life, the joy comes watching your kids." PEOPLE

    Simon Cowell

AMERICAN IDOL judge SIMON COWELL is threatening to leave his multi-million dollar fortune to his pet dogs. The animal-loving music mogul, 48, has a large family as well as a long-term partner, Terri Seymour. But he is reluctant to pass his estimated $200 million (GBP100 million) on to any human loved ones. He says, "I'll probably leave the lot to the animals. There'll be some very rich poodles in Beverly Hills." Cowell - who fought back from bankruptcy in the 1980s to become one of Britain's wealthiest men - adds, "If I had made money when I was 21, I'd probably be dead by now. I wouldn't have made 22. I would have gone crazy." contactmusic.com

    Christian Bale

Actor CHRISTIAN BALE is reportedly in talks to star in the next installment of the TERMINATOR movie franchise. The Batman Begins star is said to be interested in reprising the role of John Connor - a role originally played by Edward Furlong - in the forthcoming Terminator Salvation: The Future Begins, according to various internet reports. Bale's involvement in the new movie comes shortly after it was revealed action star-turned-California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger would not be appearing in the fourth Terminator film. But producer Moritz Borman refuses to confirm or deny rumours about Bale joining the movie's cast. He tells British film magazine Empire, "No comment. You can draw your own conclusions from that." However, Borman has dismissed claims Vin Diesel had been approached for a part in the film. He adds, "I can tell you that Vin Diesel is not somebody we're currently talking to." Terminator Salvation: The Future Begins is slated to hit cinemas in 2009. contactmusic.com

    Shakira

I’ve only been doing this “Good Celebrity” thing for a week or two now, and there were a few days I forgot about it and all, but Shakira is already being nominated for the “Good Celebrity” hall of fame. I freaking love her now. Why? Because she started charitable foundation, Latin America in Solidarity Action, that has donated $40 million to aid victims of a hurricane in Nicaragua and an earthquake in Peru. And she created the foundation with the amazing writer Gabriel Garcia Marquez. “A charitable foundation set up by Colombian pop star Shakira has donated $40 million (£19.6 million) to help victims of natural disasters. The money will go towards repairing damage caused by an earthquake in Peru and a hurricane in Nicaragua. “A further $5 million (£2.46 million) will be spent on health and education in four Latin American countries. The singer made the announcement at a New York summit on climate change organised by ex-President Bill Clinton. “Shakira, who has sold more than 50 million albums worldwide, will also host a discussion on youth activism at the Clinton Global Initiative on Saturday. Her foundation, Latin America in Solidarity Action, was set up with fellow Colombian and Nobel Prize laureate Gabriel Garcia Marquez, in a bid to combat the deaths of children. “Shakira also fronts a charity to help children who are victims of violence.” [From the BBC] Um, what doesn’t Shakira do that’s not awesome? I can’t think of anything. I used to be kind of so-so on her music, but now I’ve decided that everything she touches turns to gold, and thus her music is perfection too. Plus she’s smart, spunky, and takes college courses in her spare time. And the other day, I was walking by this cliff, and there was a bus full of school children teetering precariously, about to fall off, and Shakira came along with her magic lasso of awesomeness, tied it around the bus, and whisked them off to safety. Then she delivered three babies and planted some trees in the just-demolished forest. This is all completely true; I saw it with my own, non-exaggerating eyes. Shakira = Wonder Woman. celebitchy

    Phil Spector

The jury foreman in the Phil Spector murder trial reported to the judge that the jury is deadlocked at 7-5 and there is no way they will get anyone to budge. When polled individually by the judge, some jurors agreed with what the foreman said but others said they thought that perhaps some re-reading of the instructions and definition of reasonable doubt would also be helpful. Seizing on the statements of those individual jurors, the judge denied the defense's request for a mistrial and instead sent the jury home with instructions to return on Wednesday. The judge told the attorneys for both sides that he was reconsidering his statement last week that Spector can only be tried for 2nd degree murder and not for manslaughter. The judge went on to say that he may allow the jury to consider manslaughter after all. This is a very tough call for the judge. It is my opinion that even if he has attorneys reargue portions of the case, that trying to now let the jury decide about manslaughter is not going to hold up on appeal. If you let the judge do that, then if the jury is deadlocked again, he theoretically could keep moving down the chain of crimes until he finds one the jury will convict on. The prudent thing to do would be to declare a mistrial and then the District Attorney's office would have to decide whether or not to retry (they would) but perhaps the DA would only proceed with the manslaughter charge from the outset. If the DA's office declined to bring any charges after a mistrial is declared, then of course Spector would be free to go. Not very likely in such a high profile case. The judge will probably provide the information some of the jurors requested individually and send them back to deliberate in the hopes they can reach a decision. My guess is that the jurors won't change their mind, but said what they did to the judge because it is very intimidating to be polled individually in front of everyone and will often say whatever they think the judge wants them to say. Courteney Cox & David Arquette

I read she had several miscarriages before Coco. I doubt she is trying to get pregnant at 45. She's blessed to have a healthy child.

    Janet Jackson

GREENSBORO, N.C. - Janet Jackson has postponed three more shows because of an undisclosed illness. Her publicist said in an e-mail late Saturday that Jackson was postponing a Saturday show in Greensboro, N.C., one on Sunday in Atlanta and a third on Tuesday in Fort Lauderdale. A statement from Jackson said she arrived in Greensboro, N.C., hoping to perform there Saturday, but a local doctor advised that she not perform after it became "evident" she was not fully recovered. Representatives for the 42-year-old singer say she became "suddenly ill" and was hospitalized Monday night in Montreal shortly after she arrived for a show. She also canceled concerts in Boston and Philadelphia on Wednesday and Thursday. Jackson's publicist did not elaborate Saturday, only saying she was "recuperating." The note said Jackson will return home, at her doctor's direction, for further treatment. In the note Jackson asked people to keep their tickets for the postponed shows, and said the promoter is working to reschedule dates. Jackson is on her first North American tour in seven years. YAHOO

Apparently, Drew isn't sober and Justin got tired of her drinking. Sad. Drew hasn't had many stable relationships. Justin seemed good for her.

    What are you reading?

Reading a great biography of Roget. Yes, the Thesaurus Roget. He was a physician and scientist. A long line of insanity ran in his family. His uncle, a famous member of parliament, renowned for defense of the poor and down trodden, committed suicide and died in Roget's arms. Roget's grandmother and mother were also insane. The book has the theory that one of the reasons Roget made lists of words was to distract himself and thereby successfully fight against the potential insanity that ran in his genes.

    Zac Efron

I got an e-mail the other day from one of Zac Efron's alleged ex-boyfriends. I took a screen shot of the e-mail and below is the senders (shown above) message. I never thought I would be writing to a blogger but since another of Zacs boyfriends already stepped up to the plate I will too. I dated Zac back in his Summerland days for a a few weeks while he was still struggeling with his sexuality. We then ran into each other in July 2007 and dated from then until November. He broke up with me on the steps of the Virgin Megastore with no warning. He's a confused guy who has a lot on his plate. I have no bad feeling toward him. Going out with a celebrity isn't a picnic. I'll attach a pic of me. We've met. Do you remember me? Oh, the gays... JonathanJaxson's blog

    Natalie Portman

STAR WARS actress NATALIE PORTMAN has vowed never to get married - insisting she doesn't need a piece of paper to prove she's committed to her partner. The Closer beauty, who is currently dating fashion designer Nathan Bogle, is unhappy with the government's definition of marriage and can't understand why she should apply the same rules to her own relationships. Portman slams the legal aspects surrounding the exchanging of marital vows - branding it unfair that gay couples are not bestowed the same rights. She says, "I'm into monogamy. But I'm not really into marriage. I sort of hate the legal aspect of it. What does the state have to do with it? "Why are they making rules that say my lover can stay in the United States if they're foreign or share my health care benefits because I'm straight - but if you're gay, you can't have that?" contactmusic.com
