    Paul & Stella McCartney clan

histar.comPaul McCartney now says that some of the classic Beatles tunes were inspired by drug use. While Paul says he tried heroin just once when he was just handed something and smoked it, he says he did do cocaine for about a year around the time of 'Sgt. Pepper.' McCartney says that "Got to Get You Into My Life" was about pot. The song "Day Tripper" is about LSD, as was "Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds," and not a drawing of the Peanuts character Lucy as John Lennon also claimed.

    Diva Behavior Reports

SHORT STOPS Zap2It.com gossip The life of a waiter -- I tell you, if you aren't picking a celebrity up, you're being dissed by one. Such was the fate of the poor waiter who happened to catch a grumpy Quentin Tarantino, who served as this year's Cannes jury president, on a bad night. The filmmaker was at the Palais D'Orsay hotel relaxing at a party when he ordered "A glass of champagne, an orange juice and a glass of champagne -- in that order." The waiter misunderstood and brought back with just a champagne and orange juice, to which the director yelled, "I said I wanted champagne, orange juice and champagne. What's wrong with you man?" An onlooker tells the Daily Mirror that not only was QT rude, but he was being a prima donna. I'm truly shocked. Truly (OK, maybe not).

    Bruce Willis and his clan

Bruce Willis, Brooke Burns Split Up Tuesday Jun 01, 2004 4:00pm EST By Lorenzo Benet and Jason Bane people.com The romance of Bruce Willis and Brooke Burns is over, PEOPLE has learned. Sources close to the actors say Willis, 49, and Burns, 26, the former host of NBC's Dog Eat Dog, parted ways "within the last week or so," and the breakup was amicable. "It's very difficult to maintain a relationship when they're 3,000 miles apart," one source tells PEOPLE, adding that "both remain friends." Meantime, Willis hasn't wasted any time heading back into the spotlight. The actor was in Hailey, Idaho, over Memorial Day weekend spending time with ex-wife Demi Moore and their three daughters. On Sunday night he and his band, The Accelerators, took to the stage for a performance at the town's Mint nightclub. (Moore and boyfriend Ashton Kutcher watched the concert while kissing and cuddling in a nearby corner.) As for Burns, the actress has been in Hawaii since April shooting her new FOX series North Shore, which debuts June 14. While much of the tabloid buzz has swirled around the romance of Demi and Ashton (Willis and Moore divorced in 2000 and share custody of their daughters), Willis and Burns quietly started dating last fall, after her 2002 divorce from Nip/Tuck actor Julian McMahon. She and McMahon share custody of a 3-year-old daughter, Madison.

The pressure of trying over and over again has got to her in the last few months, but it looks like her agony is over."The babies will be Roberts' first children, but not the first twins in her family, Engelman told People. The Georgia-born peach's great grandmother is a twin, as are a pair of cousins.Roberts, 36, and her cinematographer husband, 35, met on the set of "The Mexican" in 2000. They were married in July 2002 in New Mexico.Roberts has said the couple is living in perfect domestic bliss, and even named her production company, Red Om Films, after her husband.Red Om is Moder spelled backwards.Last year, Roberts defended herself against gossip that her marriage was in trouble, telling InStyle magazine, "I feel like my marriage is so special, and there are no holes to poke in it."So when people do stuff like that, or try to be nosy about my relationship with Danny, I guess I feel like he's an innocent bystander . . . It's not fair to him."

    Julia Roberts

Oscar Winner Julia Roberts Is Pregnant Monday May 31, 2004 11:10pm EST By Mark Armstrong Julia Roberts and Danny Moder CREDIT: BIG PICTURES/NEWSCOM people.com Julia Roberts is expecting twins with husband Danny Moder, PEOPLE has learned. She is due to give birth early next year, according to her spokeswoman, Marcy Engelman. Next week Roberts will head to Italy to begin shooting Ocean's 12, the sequel to 2000's Ocean's 11, with returning costars George Clooney, Matt Damon and Brad Pitt. Roberts, 36, and Moder, 35, have kept a decidedly low profile ever since tying the knot on July 4, 2002, at her 82-acre ranch in Taos, N.Mex. The couple have stayed away from the red carpet, while splitting private time between their homes in Taos, Venice, Calif., and New York City. Tabloids, meanwhile, have continued to speculate about problems in their marriage. But in a PEOPLE cover story on their one-year anniversary last July, a source close to the couple rebuffed the talk of trouble, saying, "They are a very happy, peaceful and private couple." Added Moder's father, Michael: "They're doing fine." Roberts had plans to start a family with Moder "in due course," she said in 2002. "It'll be great." Twins, it turns out, run in Roberts' family: Her great grandmother and a pair of cousins are matched sets, Engelman said.

    The Celeb Price of Fame

The Answer Bitch EOnline.com Q: Why do some foreign actors--like Charlize Theron, Portia de Rossi and Mel Gibson--adopt an American accent? Maybe a better question is, how do they continue to do it? Susan Kim, Brooklyn, New York A: Think of Hollywood accents as being like Pam Anderson's eyebrows: Once plucked, they may never come back. Long before she first blinded us with those wholesome, horsey choppers, Georgia-bred Julia Roberts made a conscious choice to lose her hayseed twang. Like so many other budding actors, she was convinced she wouldn't get parts unless she sounded like she came from Exactly Nowhere, USA. "A non-regional American accent, often called standard American English, is the most marketable type of speech in the entertainment field today," says Sam Chwat, a New York-based dialect coach who tutored Roberts in her pre-Mystic Pizza days. To learn an accent for a movie, actors usually study with a dialect coach for several weeks. (Chwat helped Marcia Gay Harden learn Brooklynese for her Oscar-winning Pollock role, see.) But it takes at least three months of intense classes to permanently lose an accent. In those cases, Chwat and his colleagues often do their jobs so well their clients literally forget how they used to talk. "Julia had lost her southern accent so completely she had to take dialect classes to get it back for Steel Magnolias," Chwat says. Charlize Theron doesn't even speak English as her first language. The native South African took great pains to lose her Afrikaans "yah-yah," soon after a Hollywood manager discovered our farm girl arguing with a teller at a Hollywood bank. She still falls back into Afrikaans when she visits the old sod, but Industry experts tell this B!tch Theron's smart enough to know that, when she's in the good ol' U.S. of A., the talk of the Yankee equals bigger bankee. And Mel Gibson? Now, he's an odd one, and not just because he blinks too much and thinks his Anglican wife is going to hell. See, until late adolescence, the Aussie-associated Gibson actually lived Stateside. He was born in Peekskill, New York, to a brakeman on the New York Central Railroad. But after suffering an injury at work, dad Hutton Gibson used his insurance settlement to move the clan to Australia. Vocal coaches tell this B!tch that a childhood under the Stars and Stripes probably affected Gibson's speech patterns permanently, explaining why, whenever Mel blames the devil for this and that, he does so with an accent more Uncle Sam than Crocodile Dundee.

    Harry Potter Series

Radcliffe Predicts Harry Potter's DeathThu, May 27, 2004, 02:05 PM PT LOS ANGELES (Zap2it.com) - Harry Potter, the boy wizard with the dashing scar, will die in the seventh book. Well, that's what actor Daniel Radcliffe believes, anyway. The contents of the two remaining books in the best-selling children's series by J.K. Rowling are closely guarded secrets, but Radcliffe, who plays Harry in the Warner Bros. films, has his theory about his alter ego's fate. "I'm going to be really unpopular for saying this, but I've always had the suspicion that Harry might die," he says, according to the BBC. "Harry and Voldemort have the same core in them, and the only way he could die is if Harry dies as well." Voldemort is the uber-villain who killed Harry's parents and in ways, complements the boy. Not only do the two wield identical wands, but they also both speak Parseltongue, the language of snakes. Although author Rowling has insisted that anything is possible in the final books, she has not confirmed nor denied Radcliffe's prediction. In the meantime, Harry is alive and well in his latest big-screen adventure, "Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban," which opens worldwide on Friday, June 4.

    Harry Potter Series

'Harry Potter' Author Reveals Secrets on Website Fri, May 28, 2004, 02:05 PM PT LOS ANGELES (Zap2it.com) - Pottermania has reached a fever pitch with Harry Potter's latest on-screen adventure just around the corner, and author J.K. Rowling is feeding the frenzy. The 38-year-old British author recently revamped her personal website -- which previously consisted of links to publishers -- to include hints, trivia and other insights into all things Potter. The site, www.jkrowling.com, requires Flash to view the main page, a visual representation of Rowling's desktop, which is littered with gum wrappers, pens, a mug, paperclips and other miscellaneous items. By mousing over these images, fans can access Harry Potter news, rumors, Rowling's bio, FAQs, the Wizard of the Month (Felix Summerbee for May), fan sites, links and extras. Trivia galore is available in many of these sections and include: the meaning of the initial "K" in the author's name, descriptions of scenes and characters that were deleted from the novels, the color of Sirius Black's eyes, the Weasley twins' birthday and Crookshank's ancestry. Diligent and perceptive fans will be rewarded with what Rowling refers to as "Potterania," such as a look at a page from the author's original typewritten manuscript for the first book in the series. Rowling also uses the site for rumor control. In response to the speculation that the Evil Lord Voldemort is Harry Potter's real father, the author writes, "No, no, no, no, no. You lot have been watching much too much 'Star Wars.'" She also recounts a recent undercover visit to the MuggleNet chat room, where her opinions about the seventh book were summarily ignored and where she was horrified to learn that fans referred to Voldemort as "Voldie." Rowling warns fans to keep an eye out in the future for her online, where she uses the handle "Squidward," a character from "Spongebob Squarepants." As for the status of the highly anticipated sixth book, Rowling reports, "I am still at the stage where I have a large and complicated chart propped on the desk in front of me to remind me what happens where." The film version of Rowling's third book in the series, "Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban," will open worldwide on Friday, June 4.

    Celeb Acts of Charity

STAR CHARITIES' WASTEFUL WAYS Page Six YOU might want to think twice before forking over your hard-earned cash to certain celebrity charities. An investigation into celebrity-fronted charitable foundations by industry watchdog Charity Navigator found that nearly half of them did a mediocre or downright miserable job of distributing funds to the programs they were supposed to support in 2003. The group evaluated the charities' tax returns on the basis of money spent on administrative costs and fund-raising versus the amount that actually went to those in need. Steven Spielberg's (right) Survivors of the Shoah Visual History Foundation, for instance, scored only one star on a scale of zero to five. The foundation, which seeks to preserve Holocaust awareness, spent 30 cents of every dollar it raised on administration, roughly three times the industry average. It also managed to lose $6 million last year. Another dismal performer is the one-star Gorilla Foundation, to which Robin Williams donates plenty of face time. "He might want to know that they spend 45 cents of every dollar on fund-raising," Navigator executive director Trent Stamp tells PAGE SIX's Ian Spiegelman. "Everybody would like to save the gorillas - but not to pay for other fund-raisers." Operation Smile, which provides reconstructive surgery to disfigured children in the Third World and counts Jessica Simpson among its boosters, also scored a lowly one star for spending 30 cents per dollar on fund-raising. Two-star groups include the Christopher Reeve Foundation, Jimmy Carter's Habitat for Humanity, Greenpeace and Amnesty International. Plenty of charities, however, scored high. The four-star Lance Armstrong Foundation spent only six cents on the dollar for administrative costs and raised $10 million to fight cancer - a more than 50 percent revenue jump from 2002. The Bill Cosby-fronted V Foundation - named for late North Carolina State basketball coach Jim Valvano - also scored four stars for giving 90 percent of the $4 million it raised last year to leukemia researchers. Other winners include Muhammad Ali's American Parkinson's Disease Association, Mariah Carey's Fresh Air Fund, Laura Bush's National Childhood Cancer Foundation, Nelson Mandela's Africare, and Jerry Lewis' Muscular Dystrophy Foundation.
