(IMDB.COM)Alba To Launch All-Action Video Game Sexy actress Jessica Alba is developing her own videogame. The gaming fan and Sin City star has co-created new 'X-Game sports' technology, which is being launched on mobile phones in Korea. Alba reveals she first became interested in the idea when she realized it wouldn't feature any violence - and now she hopes to use the unnamed videogame to show potential movie directors the types of action films she wants to be a part of. She explains, "It's something that relates to anybody, anywhere in the world and basically you use the city as your playground. It's really really cool. In Korea, what they're doing is people can basically play the games all the time on their phones. It's gonna be like an interactive thing. This is the kind of action that I wanna do when I do an action movie."

(People.com)Oprah Coming to BroadwayMonday Sep 26, 2005 8:00am ESTBy Stephen M. Silverman Oprah Winfrey CREDIT: MICHAEL A. MARIANT / APOprah is coming to Broadway – at least in the form of her checkbook and her name. The media mogul, whose net worth is said to be $1.1 billion, is investing as a producer in the Broadway-bound musical, The Color Purple, based on Alice Walker's Pulitzer Prize-winning novel – which, in turn, was adapted by Steven Spielberg as a 1985 movie that first introduced Oprah to a wide audience. In Winfrey's first Broadway venture, she will contribute more than $1 million of the musical's $10 million production budget, The New York Times reports. In addition, her name will go above the title – Oprah Winfrey Presents: The Color Purple, the show will be called – and she promises to help boost the profile of the stage show by featuring the cast on her TV program. "I hope to do for this production some of what I've been able to do for books – that is, to open the door to the possibilities for a world of people who have never been or even thought of going to a Broadway show," Winfrey, 51, tells The Times, admitting that it has long been her "secret dream" to be part of Broadway. The musical begins previews at the Broadway Theater on Nov. 1 and officially opens Dec. 1. Reviews out of town, for an Atlanta production last year, were mixed. The Times reports that the show has been extensively revised since then.

(People.com)Singer D'Angelo Home After Car CrashMonday Sep 26, 2005 2:05pm ESTBy Stephen M. The 31-year-old "Brown Sugar" singer (real name: Michael Eugene Archer) – a native of Richmond and a resident of Midlothian, Va. – reportedly was not wearing his seatbelt on Sept. 19 when his vehicle ran off the road, hit a fence and flipped over, throwing him from the Hummer. It's not known whether he was driving. On Monday the singer's lawyer, L. Londell McMillan, issued a statement saying the singer is doing fine. "D'Angelo is home and doing well. He is anxious to finish the recording of his soul masterpiece that the world has patiently awaited. His spirit is very positive and he is blessed that the accident was not fatal." Another occupant of the vehicle, Lynne Sellers, also was hurt, the paper reports. She and D'Angelo were taken to Virginia Commonwealth University Medical Center, according to police, who are continuing to investigate the accident. Earlier this month. D'Angelo received a suspended prison sentence after pleading no contest to felony cocaine possession. He was sentenced to three years in prison with all three years suspended, and he was asked to pay court costs.

(Thebosh.com)Help Wanted: Waif Icon: Must Be Drug Free By Scott Rose Speaking out in a TV interview, the great French actress Catherine Deneuve has defended Kate Moss. "A model's private life is nobody else's business. She is one of the best models I've every seen. If she ruins her private life, that concerns nobody else." Meanwhile, not a peep out of Johnny Depp, who when dating Moss in the '90s, erased his tattoo of the name of his previous girlfriend Winona Ryder. Bosh readers will recall that although some authority figures were horrified out of their gourds by Moss's starving waif look, a nude portrait of the model by Lucien Freud sold for 3.9 million pounds. I point out the stunning hypocrisy of the fashion industry; whereas Calvin Klein raked it in with a Moss-centered, much-ballyhooed, ecstatically-received publicity campaign titled "Heroin Kids," one little photo of Kate snorting cocaine and tout le monde in la moda from NYC to Paris and Milan acts dumbstruck that a waif supermodel would even consider going within a manicured fingernail's distance of a drug. Oprah Winfrey

(TheBosh.com)Oprah Waves Her Magic Wand Over Purple Musical By Scott Rose Oprah Waves Her Magic Wand Over twenty years ago, when Oprah had but a local talk show in Chicago, she fell in love with Alice Walker's novel "The Color Purple." As soon as she heard it was being adapted for a film, she wanted a part. Quincy Jones, who was one of the film's producers, happened to be in Chicago, saw Oprah's show and asked Steven Spielberg to consider Miss O for a role in the movie. She reportedly begged Spielberg to put her name on the movie poster; he must have thought something like "Who does she think she is, E.T.?" because he didn't put her name on that poster. Fast forward to 2005. "Purple" is being made into a Broadway musical. Though some doubting Thomases wonder how you can sing and dance about family violence, incest and racial discrimination, Oprah is signing on to promote the project, donating $1 million of her own money towards the production costs and getting her name up on the theatre marquis above the play's title. The Bosh is excited for Oprah but dearly hopes that the name Alice Walker is also prominent on that marquis. "Purple" the musical got what they call "mixed" reviews when it ran last year in Atlanta but has been "significantly revised" since. Major talent is involved: Marsha Norman wrote the libretto, Gary Griffin is the director, music and lyrics are by Brenda Russell, Allee Willis and Stephen Bray. Oprah's imprimatur guarantees widespread interest in the show. Note to Yoko Ono: Do you see Oprah Winfrey trying to control every last detail of the artistic elements of this show? (By Scott Rose)

    Star Jones

(Radaronline.com)STAR JONES: VIEW TO A KILLNothing puts the “disaster” in disaster relief like a cafeteria-style showdown—especially if the women involved are TV hostess Star Jones and Surreal Life diva Omarosa Manigault-Stallworth. Sources say that the two got into a Mexican standoff when Jones gave the former Apprentice villain the hairy eyeball at BET’s recent S.O.S. Saving Ourselves telethon for the victims of Katrina. “She kept giving Omarosa dirty looks and whispering things to her husband [Al Reynolds], and rolling her eyes whenever Omarosa was around,” says our backstage mole. Omarosa remained oblivious to Jones’s antics, we’re told, until an unidentified member of 80s R&B group New Edition brought them to her attention—prompting Omarosa to sneer, “Star doesn’t want any trouble with me. If I can deal with a crazy crackhead like Janice Dickinson, I can handle her.”Word of the exchange spread quickly backstage and orders were given to keep the two separated. What caused the tiff was unclear, but one witness speculated that the charitable diva—who donated 100 pairs of shoes and her Emmy dress for those Katrina refugees in need of extra-wide stilettos or a spare tent—was merely hungry. Omarosa, we hear, was ravenous as well. Having recently announced her separation from husband Aaron Stallworth, she was spotted cozying up to everyone from rapper Q-Tip to Six Feet Under’s Matthew St. Patrick in search of a high-profile hook-up.Jones’s rep, Brad Zeifman, dismissed the incident as “100 percent untrue,” saying, “there was too much love and support in the room for any cattiness.” Omarosa’s publicist, Priscilla Clark, said she “hadn’t heard anything” about a beef.Mmmmmm… beef, thinks Star Jones, somewhere.

The conservation project will be in the neighboring Haneoo and Hamoa districts. In a letter to Hana residents, company Chief Operating Officer Dan Omer and Chief Executive William Newsom said the arrangement would be “one of the most important private conservation efforts to occur on Maui.”If the deal goes through and Winfrey builds a home at Mokae, she is expected to drop her plans to build on a 102-acre Lehoula property she bought in 2002 with her close friend Bob Greene.Hana resident Carl Lindquist said he was thrilled about the deal, which limits development at Mokae to a single residence and ends Winfrey’s plan to build at Lehoula, where her home would have been visible from the road.“I think it’s great for Hana. We should all go out and celebrate,” Lindquist said.

(MSNBC.COM)Naomi Campbell defends Kate Moss‘Everybody is being bad to her’ about cocaine claims, says supermodelJeff Christensen / APUpdated: 11:09 a.m. ET Sept. 26, 2005BOGOTA, Colombia - Naomi Campbell has spoken out in support of Kate Moss, who has lost three modeling contracts and is being investigated by London police on allegations that she used cocaine.“Kate Moss is my friend ... I think it’s like everybody is being bad to her,” the 35-year-old supermodel told a news conference Sunday in the Colombian capital where she was judging a modeling competition.“It’s not the first time it has happened in the world ... it’s really like a vendetta,” said Campbell, who has said that she nearly self-destructed from her use of cocaine.Pictures published in a British tabloid appeared to show Moss using cocaine. Moss, 31, issued a statement last week apologizing to “all the people I have let down.”“I take full responsibility for my actions,” she said. Her statement stopped short of specifying whether she had used cocaine.Meanwhile, the modeling agency in London that represents Moss said it would support her in the face of the allegations.“I feel compelled to speak out in defense of Kate Moss following recent days of speculation and, in many cases, ill-informed and inaccurate stories,” Sarah Doukas, director of the Storm agency, said in a statement Sunday.“I know Kate, and I have represented her for the last 18 years. Over this time she has consistently demonstrated herself to be a professional and exceptional model and a loyal, special and dear friend to me and countless others,” Doukas said.Campbell said it was wrong to blame the modeling industry for drug abuse and eating disorders among young women. She agreed to take part in a program run by the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime in Colombia to raise awareness about human trafficking.Campbell said she wanted to help in “providing a safe environment for models and preventing exploitation of human beings.”More than a dozen Colombian models from the Elite modeling agency recently attended a U.N. course in Bogota on how to spread the message about the risks of being lured abroad and sexually exploited.Colombian police estimate that up to 50,000 Colombians, including many underage girls and boys, have been forced into prostitution, mainly in Japan, Spain and Holland.

(IMDB.COM)'Lost' Is Found by 23.1 Million Viewers ABC's Lost overwhelmed the competition -- including Martha Stewart -- on Wednesday night, drawing 23.1 million viewers and posting a 13.7 rating and a 20 share (a 10.0/24 among adults 18-49), its best numbers ever, during its regular time period, the 9:00 p.m. hour. A recap hour, Destination: Lost, at 8:00 p.m. drew a 9.2/15. The strong numbers also provided strong coattails for ABC's Invasion, which debuted at 10:00 p.m. with a 10.4/16, beating the season premiere of NBC's Law & Order, which averaged a 9.0/14, and the second hour of a repeat of the Quentin Tarantino-directed episode of CBS's CSI: Crime Scene Investigation, which pulled an 8.2/12. By contrast, NBC's heavily hyped The Apprentice: Martha Stewart barely made it out of the gate as it posted a mediocre 5.5/9 against the recap hour of Lost (the lowest ratings ever for an Apprentice episode) while the network managed a 7.3/10 with the debut of Jerry Bruckheimer's E-Ring at 9:00 p.m. On Fox, the debut of Fox's America's Next Top Model averaged a 3.1/5. TV writers were quick to pounce on Stewart's poor showing. Robert Bianco in USA Today said that it proved that the "show has no reason to exist other than NBC's need to fill a time slot and its desire to capitalize on Stewart's post-prison notoriety." Lisa De Moraes's column in the Washington Post was headlined: "Martha Stewart, Out of the Can and Into the Tank."

(Pagesix.com)NEW KATE MOSS SHOCKER SIENNA Miller must be thrilled that Kate Moss' life is going to hell in a Gucci handbag. Miller went thermonuclear when reports surfaced that before he nailed the nanny, her lover Jude Law had wild three-way sex with a coked-up Moss and his ex, Sadie Frost. Before she took him back, Miller forced Law to make a list of all the women he'd slept with — but he'd omitted Moss' name. Now the Daily Telegraph in London reports Burberry, which dropped Moss in the wake of the coke scandal, will likely hire Miller as her replacement. Miller has ordered Law to keep it in his pants and keep away from Frost and Moss, or else. Meanwhile, Moss' contract with cosmetics giant Rimmel will likely be torn up, insiders say, following in the footsteps of H&M and Chanel. And we're told Jefferson Hack, father of Moss' daughter, Lila Grace, is now pressing for sole custody. Of course, PAGE SIX readers saw this coming. Back in January, when Moss and smack-rocker Pete Doherty first hooked up, we quoted a Moss pal: "Kate's friends think this is a really bad idea. He's a bad influence. They're really worried about her daughter."

    Jenny McCarthy

(Rush/Mulloy)McCarthy abuzz with excitementTrash-talking eye candy Jenny McCarthy is running her mouth again. The 32-year-old blond bombshell - who filed for divorce last month from her husband of six years, movie director John Asher - told Lowdown not to believe gossip that she's doing the nasty with Jim Carrey."I've met Jim once, and that was about it," she confided at Wednesday's party for Asher's raunchy comedy "Dirty Love," which McCarthy wrote. "Usually the rumor of who I'm with lasts a couple weeks. Right now they're moving up in tiers, in levels, so I'm really happy that it's become A-level. I was at Steve-O [of 'Jackass' infamy], then Tommy Lee, then Carson Daly; so now I'm at Jim Carrey."And of those fantasy bedmates, whom would she actually sleep with?"Probably just Jim," McCarthy said at the Chelsea nightspot Cain. "But there's not going to be a rebound guy. All I know is, I've become best friends with my vibrator. And that's what I plan on getting sex from. Invest in Duracell! I go through a lot of batteries."Just like professed vibrator enthusiast Eva Longoria of "Desperate Housewives"?"Ah, she's getting [sex], who are we kidding?" McCarthy retorted. From whom? Throwing back her head, McCarthy cackled: "Everyone!"But Longoria's PR rep wasn't laughing yesterday."That couldn't be further from the truth," the rep responded. "Eva's been in a long-term relationship with [NBA star] Tony Parker for quite some time now. She's an extremely loyal, one-man type of girl."McCarthy's rep - a desperate publicist - tried to talk Lowdown out of using the quote after fielding bitter complaints from Team Longoria. Then the flack offered: "She meant getting [sex] from everyone on the show."

Martha Stewart Living Omnimedia's flagship magazine, Martha Stewart Living, will carry 48% more ad pages in the third quarter than a year ago because the company's founder has returned, said CEO Susan Lyne."There is not a single category where we don't have advertisers coming back," Lyne said at the Goldman Sachs media conference here. Kate Moss

(Rush/Mulloy)Fourth firm may blow off model Moss BY NANCY DILLONDAILY NEWS STAFF WRITER Runway rebel Kate Moss was nearly stripped of yet another modeling gig yesterday, but experts predict the furor over her alleged cocaine use will blow over soon.Coty-owned cosmetics giant Rimmel became the latest firm to express "shock" over tabloid photos showing Moss apparently arranging and snorting lines of white powder. Rimmel said yesterday it was "currently reviewing her contract."The move comes after Burberry, Chanel and H&M dumped the proto-waif earlier in the week and London's Metropolitan Police said it was looking into the damaging drug allegations.Moss, 31, finally broke her silence yesterday and released a public apology taking "full responsibility for my actions" and acknowledging "that there are various personal issues I need to address."The supermodel's dramatic fall is "hypocritical" - and almost certainly temporary, said two fashion-industry experts. "This is not news. Most models do cocaine. And Chanel and Burberry hired her for the fact that she is a cutting-edge personality who brings a whiff of rock 'n' roll to their brands," said Michael Gross, author of "Model: The Ugly Business Of Beautiful Women.""Of course she'll bounce back," Gross added, expressing respect for her work. "I predict either Dior will triple her contract or some jeans company will come along and give her a giant deal that generates a huge blast of publicity."Others pointed out that Moss was allegedly "hoovering" cocaine during her spare time, not on a major client's dime."This woman wasn't missing deadlines or snorting with a baby in her right hand. This didn't affect her professionally," said Donal McIntyre, the British documentarian behind the 1999 fashion-industry exposé "Undercover: Fashion Victims.""I hope she gets better for her own health. But the people who gave her these contracts are as immersed in the world of excessive alcohol and drug abuse as she is," he said. "She's probably a hotter property now than ever before. If not for the media firestorm, she'd still have all her contracts."

(IMDB.COM)Monaghan Persuaded 'Lost' Bosses To Alter Character for Him British actor Dominic Monaghan only won a role in hit show Lost after persuading TV bosses to transform his character from a 45-year-old has-been rocker into a confused young musician. Monaghan, 28, felt his part as Charlie would have more depth if he was younger and less experienced, and the switch allowed the actor to channel his own life into the part. He says, "Charlie was a 45-year-old rocker who had been spat out the other side - they were looking at someone like (the actor) John Hannah. My pitch was, 'Wouldn't it be a more interesting character if he was someone who has barely scratched the surface of what he could be?' I had a lot of frustration and confusion about my career that I transplanted into Charlie."
