    Evangeline Lilly - Dominic Monaghan

(IMDB.COM)Monaghan Persuaded 'Lost' Bosses To Alter Character for HimBritish actor Dominic Monaghan only won a role in hit show Lost after persuading TV bosses to transform his character from a 45-year-old has-been rocker into a confused young musician. Monaghan, 28, felt his part as Charlie would have more depth if he was younger and less experienced, and the switch allowed the actor to channel his own life into the part. He says, "Charlie was a 45-year-old rocker who had been spat out the other side - they were looking at someone like (the actor) John Hannah. My pitch was, 'Wouldn't it be a more interesting character if he was someone who has barely scratched the surface of what he could be?' I had a lot of frustration and confusion about my career that I transplanted into Charlie."

Moss Slams Crack Claims Disgraced supermodel Kate Moss has slammed new newspapers reports she is using crack cocaine, as more fashion houses consider dropping the troubled beauty from their advertising campaigns. The model is furious at The Sun's allegations today (22SEP05), that she smokes rocks of crack twice a week, as well as snorting cocaine and taking ecstasy tablets. Moss' contracts with H+M, Burberry and Chanel have been cancelled after photographs of Moss allegedly snorting cocaine was published in last week's (15SEP05) Daily Mirror newspaper. The supermodel's lawyer Gerrard Tyrell says his client "specifically denied" the crack allegations. After Chanel and Burberry announced yesterday (21SEP05) they would no longer use Moss in their ads, her own contracts with Gloria Vanderbilt and Christian Dior appear to be under threat. Jack Gross, chief executive of Vanderbilt, says, "We would have second thoughts about using Kate Moss again. We weren't aware of any issues with Kate prior to this campaign." A spokesperson for Christian Dior admitted they were unsure of Moss' future with the French designer, explaining, "Is she still representing the brand? Good question, I can't answer that." Meanwhile, jewellery firm H Stern is standing by the troubled model, releasing a statement saying, "We chose Kate because she is a style icon and everything beyond that is her personal and private life." © Copyright World Entertainment News Network. HOLLYWOOD, September 22, 2005Macpherson Offers Sympathy to MossBy WENN ............................................Elle Macpherson has offered her sympathy to fallen former catwalk colleague Kate Moss - but maintains she is paying the price of fame. The Australian former model experienced her own fall from grace two years ago when she checked into the Meadows Clinic in Arizona suffering from depression, so she can relate to the drug scandal that has cost Moss many lucrative modeling contracts. Moss has lost several modeling contracts with H&M, Burberry and Chanel after photographs allegedly showing the model snorting cocaine were published in a British newspaper last week. Macpherson says "[Moss is] learning the price of living a public. "I think Kate's in a very uncomfortable position but when you lead a public life, your personal life gets scrutinized. "I'm sure it's a very difficult moment for her right now, but for anyone in the public eye it's very

Hewitt: 'H&M Bosses Have Done Moss a Favor'By WENN ............................................Hollywood actress Jennifer Love Hewitt believes bosses at fashion retail chain H&M have done Kate Moss "a favor" by dumping her as the company's spokesmodel. Moss lost her $1.8 million contract with H&M yesterday, following allegations of drug-taking, and fashion giant Chanel followed suit today, announcing it has "no plan" to renew her contract when it ends next month. And I Know What You Did Last Summer star Hewitt believes the action will prompt Moss to get help. She says, "I have to say that I think maybe they did her a favor, and maybe she'll actually get help. Coffee's one thing, but coke is another. It's not something you want to really have as a problem in your life. "I think we have to kind of stop rewarding bad behavior and actually start helping people. "You know when you're out in public that there are gonna be people watching you, so you should just try to act like somebody that you would wanna be proud of if they get a photo of you. Not that you should always feel like you're always working, but it goes with the job, I think." The woes for Moss began when a photograph appeared in British newspaper the Daily Mirror last Thursday showing the model snorting what appeared to be cocaine. Kate Moss

(Mirror.co.uk)22 September 2005KATE LOSS: IT JUST GETS WORSE More big names ditch drugs shame model -Top cop backs a probe into coke snort shockerBy Stephen Moyes And Justine SmithCOSMETICS giant Rimmel today added further humiliation for cocaine shame model Kate Moss (left) who was yesterday dumped by three fashion houses to dump, losing a large chunk of her £4million income. The devastated 31-year-old got the axe from Chanel, Burberry and Gloria Vanderbilt - as police chief Sir Ian Blair backed the decision to investigate her drug abuse. And today Rimmel, who have used Moss in their advertising campaigns since 2001, said it was reviewing her contract. A spokesman said: "Rimmel London is shocked and dismayed by the recent press allegations surrounding Kate Moss's behaviour." Their move comes a day after clothes giant H&M scrapped Kate's £1million contract. But Christian Dior, H Stern and Fred Paris have so far pledged to stand by the star.Metropolitan Police Commissioner Sir Ian said he was involved in the decision to probe Kate's drug use after Mirror revelations she snorted five lines of cocaine in 40 minutes with lover Pete Doherty in a London record studio. He said: "We have to look at the impact of this kind of behaviour on impressionable young people and if there is evidence something should be done about it. If we have an allegation about a person who is so much in the public eye and a role model it seems to me important that we investigate."Maximum penalty for possessing cocaine is six months in jail, a £5,000 fine or both. But police have indicated Kate could escape with a warning if she admits the crime. Sir Ian, who in February vowed to clamp down on middle- class drug users, is known to be against such a move.He has hit out as the soft treatment of celebrities caught snorting cocaine - such as James Hewitt who was let off with a caution last September. He said: "I can remember a previous individual who was given a caution. I think that was a wrong decision."Kate, 31, was in tears when Chanel told her it would not be renewing her £750,000-a-year contract as the face of Coco Mademoiselle perfume. Chanel's Julie Le Blevec said: "Kate has a contract until the end of October."We are not planning to stop the adverts before then."The firm insisted the axe had nothing to do with drug abuse. But a source said: "Bosses do not want the risk of this happening again. Kate has been great for them but enough is enough and the end has come."Burberry added: "Kate has worked successfully with Burberry over the years."However, we have never had a contract with her to be the face of Burberry."We had one project scheduled with Kate for this autumn and in the circumstances both she and Burberry have mutually agreed it is inappropriate to go ahead."Kate has always been highly professional for Burberry. We are saddened by her circumstances and hope she overcomes her problems as soon as possible."Denim firm Gloria Vanderbilt boss Jack Gross said: "We would have second thoughts about using Kate Moss again. We weren't aware of any issues with Kate prior to this campaign."PR guru Max Clifford warned the model's career will collapse if she does not take drastic action. He added: "She has a problem which could damage her career, her earnings and her life. Unless she goes on TV saying she's giving up things will get worse."Elle Macpherson said of Kate: "She's in a very uncomfortable position. I'm sure it's difficult for her right now."Last night one of the firms that still employ Kate backed their decisions. H Stern said: "We chose Kate because she is a style icon and everything beyond that is her personal and private life."Dior added: "Is she still representing the brand? Good question. I can't answer that."But both Rimmel and Fred Paris refused to comment. Boots, who sell Rimmel make-up said: "We stick by their decision."Kate, who has has yet to speak about the Mirror's revelations, last night failed to show up for friend Sadie Frost's lingerie show at the London Fashion Week.An insider said: "There was a huge buzz over whether Kate would appear. There was disappointment when she didn't."

She has now turned to Moss' friends (who include Elton John, Elizabeth Hurley and Jude Law's ex, Sadie Frost) to try to put an end to Kate's bad behavior.Chanel is the latest company to decide against renewing its contract with the model, after H&M publicly dropped her when news and photos of her alleged drug use appeared in Britain's Daily Mirror last week. A rep for Chanel would not say whether the decision was based on the report.Burberry, which had no contract with Moss but used her in ad campaigns, decided to drop the catwalker as well, according to a report on CNN.com. "We had one project scheduled with Kate for this autumn, and in the circumstances, both Kate and Burberry have mutually agreed that it is inappropriate to go ahead," the plaid-pushing outfit said in a statement.Scotland Yard, the criminal-investigation unit of the London police, is also reportedly making an inquiry into Kate's misbehavior.

    Oddly Enough

(Yahoo.com)Dutch Talk-Show Host to Take Heroin on Air By TOBY STERLING, Associated Press Writer Wed Sep 21,10:11 AM ET AMSTERDAM, Netherlands - A television presenter on a new Dutch talk show plans to take heroin and other illegal drugs on air in a program intended to reach young audiences on topics that touch their lives, producers said Wednesday. The show, scheduled to premier on late-night television Oct. 10, is called "Spuiten & Slikken," or the "Shoot Up and Swallow" show.Even in the liberal Netherlands, where marijuana is sold and used openly, the proposed action by presenter Filemon Wesselink is illegal, and the idea was met with dismay by the governing center-right Christian Democrat party."This is dangerous and it sets a bad example," party spokesman Pieter Heerma said. "We're going to ask the justice minister for his view on what the law says about this, and his view on the dangers and risks involved."Justice Ministry spokesman Ivo Hommes said it was not immediately clear whether Wesselink could be prosecuted. Possession of any amount of heroin is illegal, but in practice police usually do not have resources to chase after people with less than a half a gram of the highly addictive narcotic."The actual taking of drugs is a health problem, not a criminal act, though it's obviously hard to take drugs without possessing them first," Hommes said. "In any case it's not something we endorse, and doing it on television is undesirable."The Shoot Up & Swallow show's main hostess will interview guests about drug use and abuse, while Wesselink and another presenter will carry out in-the-field experiments with sex and drugs.Wesselink, 26, plans to smoke a heroin pill, said Ingrid Timmer, a spokeswoman for the show's producer BNN."It's not our intention to create an outcry. We just want to talk about subjects that are part of young people's lives," Timmer said.In other segments of the show, Wesselink plans to go on a drinking binge in a series of pubs. He also plans to take the hallucinogenic drug LSD — on his couch under the supervision of his mother. The Netherlands is known for its marijuana policy, where sale and use of the drug in small quantities are not prosecuted even though technically illegal. Other drugs, including LSD, cocaine, Ecstasy and heroin are outlawed and dealers are prosecuted. The legal age for the consumption of alcohol and tobacco is 16.According to information from the Netherlands' Trimbos Institute, which monitors international drug use, the Dutch are about average. The institute says 6 percent of Dutch have used marijuana recently, compared with 8 percent in the United States, 9 percent in Britain and 9 percent in France. For cocaine, it was 1.1 percent in Holland — and rising quickly — compared to 1.3 percent in the United States, 1.5. percent in Britain and 0.3 percent in France. Comparable data for heroin use were not available.BNN has drawn viewer complaints for programs in the past, including a sex education program called "This Is How You Screw." One segment discussed how to have sex in a nightclub and featured life-size mannequins with sex organs.(BOOKS AIRLINE TICKET TO AMSTERDAM...)

    Kate Moss

(Yahoo.com)Police Look Into Moss Cocaine AllegationsWed Sep 21, 1:00 PM ETAllegations that Kate Moss recently used cocaine are being investigated, Metropolitan Police said Wednesday as Burberry and Chanel announced they were dropping the supermodel. Confirmation of the investigation came a day after Hennes & Mauritz, Europe's largest fashion retailer, canceled plans to use the 31-year-old model in an upcoming ad campaign. The decision to drop the campaign came after Moss acknowledged last week that British tabloid reports of her recent cocaine use were true. H&M initially said it would proceed with the campaign, but company spokeswoman Liz Asarnoj said Tuesday that "after evaluating the situation, we have decided that a campaign with Kate Moss is not consistent with H&M's clear disassociation with drugs." Chanel, the French fashion house, said Wednesday it wouldn't renew Moss' contract when it expires next month. "The contract was always going to end in October," said Julie Le Blevec, spokeswoman for Chanel perfumes. Moss has been the face of Chanel's Coco Mademoiselle perfume since 2002. Burberry also said it was canceling a planned campaign involving Moss. London's police generally investigate drug dealers rather than users, but that policy is "adaptable to the impact of events," said Ian Blair, commissioner of the Metropolitan Police. Blair told reporters he wouldn't comment directly, but added: "We have to look at the impact of this kind of behavior on impressionable young people and if there is evidence, something should be done about it. "I can remember being asked a question about a previous individual who was given a caution. I think that was a wrong decision."

(Yahoo.com) Martha Stewart Gives Up Fur Martha Stewart, who says she's given up fur, has made a video for PETA. "I used to wear fur, but like many others, I had a change of heart when I learned what actually happens to the animals," Stewart says in the video. "So much violence in the world seems beyond our control, but this is one cruelty we can stop by being informed consumers," she says. Stewart's turnaround came this spring when she began communicating from jail by letter with Dan Mathews, the vice president of People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals. Stewart, 64, served five months in a West Virginia federal prison for lying about a 2001 stock sale. That was followed by nearly six months of house arrest, which concluded Sept. 1. (People.com)How Lance Proposed to SherylWednesday Sep 21, 2005 3:00pm ESTWhen Sheryl Crow sashayed into Versace's grand relaunch party in London on Monday, the singer couldn't help but gush about the moment fiancé Lance Armstrong popped the question. "He rowed me out into the middle of a lake in the mountains and asked me to get married," Crow, 43, told PEOPLE. "It was very romantic." She also showed off her huge platinum-set diamond ring that Armstrong, the 34-year-old Tour de France champ, gave to her. "He picked out the ring himself and had it designed. It's absolutely gorgeous," said Crow, adding that they're already planning a spring wedding, likely in the U.S. Armstrong, appearing on The Oprah Winfrey Show Tuesday, said that his proposal was more spur-of-the-moment than he expected. "We took this boat out to the middle of the lake, and this is one of these little fishing boats with the motor behind going," he said. "It ran out of gas in the middle of the lake, and so I thought, you know, we're stuck here. I may as well ask her now." The couple both said the moment was picture perfect, but there was one thing missing, said Armstrong: "I felt bad…. I didn't have the ring with me." Crow didn't seem to miss the bauble in the moment, but displayed the diamond on the air Tuesday. "It's a cushion cut. I think it's six carats. He definitely pulled out all the stops," she told Winfrey. When asked by PEOPLE whether their wedding will be a big party or private affair? "Don’t know yet," Crow said. "I think probably a pretty big do."

You know, you should check it out anyway. Our tastes might be different. I really tried to watch because I like sci-fi, Carla Gugino(esp. after Sin City), and the Peter Dinklage dude...gotta love little people...but the show was cheesy, IMHO. I talked to a friend in Development...and what's happening is because of how big LOST has gotten...you now have LOST/Sci-fi show knockoffs that are being developed and in high demand for TV. And of course they aren't that great once they get on the air.

(Foxnews.com)Tourists Fined for Kissing in India Wednesday, September 21, 2005 NEW DELHI — India may be the land of the Kamasutra (search), the famed ancient treatise on sex, but in the country's hinterlands, public displays of affection remain strictly taboo. An Israeli couple discovered just how staid the small towns of India can be when they were fined 500 Indian rupees (U.S. $11) each for embracing and kissing after getting married in the Hindu holy town of Pushkar (search) in northwestern India, the Asian Age newspaper reported Wednesday. The Israeli Embassy in New Delhi confirmed the incident and identified the couple as Alon Orpaz and Tehila Salev, who decided to get married on a visit to India. The embassy did not provide any additional details. The Asian Age said priests at Pushkar's Brahma temple were so incensed when the couple, married in a traditional Hindu ceremony, smooched as hymns were still being chanted that they filed a complaint with the police.A court in Pushkar then charged the couple with indecency and ordered them to pay the fine or face 10 days in prison, the newspaper reported, adding that the couple decided to pay up."We will not tolerate any cultural pollution of this sort," the newspaper quoted a priest, Ladoo Ram Sharma, as saying.Asian Age reported that the priests planned to ask the government to require tourists to be appropriately dressed when visiting the holy town and its temples.Pushkar, located on the banks of Pushkar Lake (search), is a popular Hindu pilgrimage spot. But it is also frequented by foreign tourists, who come for the town's annual cattle fair and camel races.

    Kate Moss

(Thisislondon.com)Kate faces police quiz By Charlotte Gill, Nicole Lampert and Ben Taylor, Daily Mail 21 September 2005 Kate Moss was ditched by the high street fashion chain H&M yesterday as Scotland Yard prepared to interview her about her alleged cocaine binge H&M, whose low-cost clothes are a favourite with teenage girls, had paid her a reported £1million to pose in a range of clothes designed by her friend Stella McCartney. After initially accepting an apology from the model over her drug-taking, the Swedish firm reviewed its decision in the face of widespread condemnation of the example she was setting its young customers. The change of heart may trigger a domino effect by other labels which use Moss such as Dior, Chanel, Burberry and the cosmetics giant Rimmel, which like H&M gears its products towards the youth market. If it does the model, believed to be worth £30million, could see her £4million-a-year career unravelling before her eyes. Yesterday's bold statement from H&M will do her no favours. 'H&M is strongly against drugs and for many years has actively supported the drug preventing organisation Mentor Foundation,' it said. 'After having evaluated the situation, H&M has decided that a campaign with Kate Moss is inconsistent with H&M's clear dissociation of drugs.' The Mentor Foundation is a not-for-profit international organisation which works to prevent drug misuse among children and young people. It is not known if H&M will recoup any of the money it paid Moss for the campaign. The pictures for Miss McCartney's range, taken several months ago by Mario Sorrenti, were due to be launched in November. The designer is said to be 'apoplectic with rage' at Moss. A source close to her says she feels particularly let down because it was she who suggested the model to H&M. The source said she was determined not to be associated with Moss's drug-taking lifestyle. Most of the other companies who use Moss have maintained a stony silence over the controversy, but industry experts say they may drop the model in the long run. Although H&M has jettisoned the millions it spent on its campaign, other companies will be reluctant to pull the plug on pre-booked adverts in the press and on TV in the run-up to Christmas. Some insiders predict they will wait for their contracts with her to end before looking for a new face to represent their brand. The police probe into Moss's conduct has been ordered by Assistant Commissioner Tarique Ghaffur, head of the Yard's Specialist Crime Directorate. He wants officers to interview Moss when she returns from New York, where she has been for the city's fashion week. She is expected back for London Fashion Week today. The 31-year-old model, who has a two-year-old daughter, was captured on video taking cocaine two weeks ago at a studio in West London where her rock star boyfriend Pete Doherty, 26, and his band Babyshambles were recording. Detectives will also seek to question Doherty and anyone else who was present. Mick Jones, formerly of The Clash, is producing the album which Babyshambles were making. Last Friday the Metropolitan Police said it would investigate Moss's behaviour 'if a complaint is received'. Since then Yard chiefs are understood to have been stung by criticism that they were not honouring the word of Metropolitan Police Commissioner Sir Ian Blair's last February when he promised to tackle the scourge of middle-class cocaine abuse. Sir Ian said then: 'There are people in the capital who believe that they are in some way taking harm-free cocaine. There are no areas of the capital which are exempt from the law on drugs.' The aim of the inquiry will be to find out where the drugs came from with a view to arresting the supplier. As such, Moss and her entourage are likely to be treated as 'witnesses'. Moss is expected in London for the catwalk show of her friend Sadie Frost's label FrostFrench. Earlier this week friends described how Moss had lesbian sex sessions with Miss Frost and actress Davinia Taylor. The pair are said to be planning to link arms at the show in a gesture of defiance.

    Kate Moss

(Contactmusic.com) RUPERT BACKS MOSS' 'LESBIAN' ANTICS British actor RUPERT EVERETT has leaped to the defence of disgraced supermodel KATE MOSS, after newspaper reports over the weekend (18SEP05) claimed she had romped with other women. On Sunday, British newspaper News Of The World alleged Moss had indulged in cocaine-fuelled lesbian sex with JUDE LAW's ex-wife SADIE FROST and English actress DAVINIA TAYLOR. The news came only four days after the Daily Mirror newspaper published photographs of Moss allegedly snorting cocaine during a recording session for on/off boyfriend PETE DOHERTY's band BABYSHAMBLES. And openly gay Everett is shocked by the "homophobic" nature of the reports which also revealed the model's drug habit. Everett, 46, says, "Along with the revelations of drug taking, which are supposedly negative, come headlines about her lesbianism, as if that is negative too. It's shocking the way it is reported. What's wrong with her having had sex with another woman?" That's right...what's wrong with it??!!! I totally support it!
