Jonathan Rhys Meyers Hospitalized After Suicide Attempt: Report By Tim Nudd and Liz Corcoran Thursday June 30, 2011 09:00 AM EDT Jonathan Rhys Meyers was hospitalized in London this week after a possible suicide attempt involving pills, according to a report. The star of The Tudors, 33, who has battled alcohol addiction over the years, was found slumped on the floor of his home Tuesday night by paramedics answering an emergency call, the Sun reports. He reputedly refused treatment, so the paramedics called the police, and Meyers was taken to hospital. A Scotland Yard spokesman tells PEOPLE: "We can confirm we were called by the London Ambulance Service to an address in NW8 to report to a man refusing treatment. Police attended, and the man was taken by ambulance to a central London hospital. That was the end of our involvement." The actor was reportedly discharged from hospital early Wednesday.

It's no surprise that the Oscar winner supports gay rights, so it totally makes since that she's decided to toast Gay Pride month on her Goop blog. However, what did come as a bit of surprise is... She decided to tackle the hot button issue of gays and religion. "A few months ago, in the heat of the tragic teen suicides that came about from intolerance of homosexuality, I saw a man on television who was apologizing for wishing death on gays from his Facebook page," Paltrow writes in a post, titled "Homosexuality in the Bible." "This member of an Arkansas school board was contrite for the violence in his words, but maintained that his values pertaining to homosexuality would remain, as he felt homosexuality was condemned in the bible." The Oscar winner goes on to write, "When my daughter come home from school one day saying that a classmate had two mommies, my response was, 'Two mommies? How lucky is she?!' What does it actually say in the bible that will cause some people to be upset by my line of thinking?" Paltrow also includes a couple of other pro-gay writings from a Episcopal priests as well as one from Kabbalah guru Michael Berg. But she also posted a not-so-supportive argument from Dr. John Stott of All Souls Church in London. A note before his anti-gay Bible thumping reads, "We wanted as many perspectives as possible on this issue and so we are also including a more conservative voice here below." Bravo to Paltrow for her pro-gay stance and teaching her children about acceptance—and even for her willingness to listen to opposing points of view. But consider this: Let's say she was writing about Jewish pride—would she have felt the need to include an anti-Semitic point of view? Or how about celebrating Black History Month with the inclusion of a racist's rantings? Until the basic human rights of gay people are accepted similarly—as long overdue by some who would use their faith as a reason to hate or divide—we still have a long way to go, Goop. Amy Winehouse back in rehab Ian Gavan / Getty Images file Defying the lyrics of her hit song once again, singer Amy Winehouse on Wednesday checked into a rehab clinic as part of her ongoing battle with alcohol addiction, her rep confirmed to People. Winehouse "has embarked on a treatment program at the Priory Clinic. She wants to be ready for performances in Europe this summer and decided to seek an assessment. She will remain at the Priory on doctors' advice," the rep said in a statement. A source close to the singer told the magazine that it was her father Mitch Winehouse who coerced her to go to rehab. "Her dad sat her down and said 'I think you're drinking too much again.' So she agreed to do an assessment to stop it from becoming a bigger problem." That didn't keep Winehouse from one last hurrah: she reportedly downed a miniature bottle of Smirnoff vodka on her way to the clinic, "in typical Amy style," said the source.

Report: Jeff Conaway brain dead, to be taken off life support by grieving family By Carina Adly MacKenzie May 26, 2011 6:10 PM ET "Grease" and "Taxi" star Jeff Conaway is set to be taken off of life support, reports RadarOnline. The actor, who has long struggled with drug addiction, was found unconscious on May 11 as a result of pneumonia exacerbated by substance abuse. He was put into an induced coma, struggling with sepsis, and has been on a ventilator and a feeding tube since. "Doctors advised the family that Jeff has had no brain function since he was brought into the hospital," says a source close to the family. "The feeding tube has already been removed. The ventilator which is breathing for Jeff, will be removed sometime this afternoon. No measures will be made to try and revive him once the breathing tube is removed." Dr. Drew Pinsky, who treated Conaway on "Celebrity Rehab," visited Conaway in the hospital. While his initial reports were hopeful, saying that Conaway would likely recover, he posted on May 21, "yes,we all need to pray for him.Not doing well today suddenly." Conaway, 60, is best known for his work as Kenickie in "Grease," and for his star turns on "Taxi" and "Babylon 5." He began his career on Broadway at just 2 years old, and endured physical and sexual abuse as a child before leaving New York to attend the North Carolina School of the Arts. He married "Grease" co-star Olivia's sister, Rona Newton-John in 1980, but the couple divorced five years later. In 1990, he married Keri Conaway, and though it is not known when the couple officially divorced, he is estranged from her.

Family members have been in and out of the hospital waiting for news, Brock said, adding, "He turned his head two days ago, but nothing since." There is no word on whether or not doctors expect Conaway to wake up. The former "Taxi" star, who also played bad-boy Kenickie in "Grease," has been plagued by health problems in recent years, including a bad fall a year ago that occurred when he was under the influence of methadone and OxyContin. ..There is no word on what he may have OD'd on today. According to them, the one-story home (which incidentally appears to have wisely been vacated before the swarm of reporters and their roughly two dozen news crews descended) on an otherwise quiet cul-de-sac was actually purchased for Mildred Patricia Baena by Schwarzenegger last year. According to real estate records, Baena purchased the home last year for $268,000, but her next door neighbor, Mary Steelman, told the Bakersfield Californian that the real estate agent who closed the deal blabbed to Steelman (for whatever reason), that the home was actually purchased by the former governor for an employee of his who was retiring. Neighbor Roger Steelman told a similar story to the New York Post, saying that the apparently loose-lipped realtor informed him that the Sperminator was purchasing the home for one of his "longtime assistants." Kern County property records obtained by E! News show that Baena, listed as a single woman in the paperwork, purchased the home last June, taking out a $219,224 mortgage with a 30-year term. But enough with the scandalous details—just how sweet a pad did Arnie buy his secret family? Well, according to Trulia, the single family residence boasts four bedrooms (sounds like someone's sharing—other than the 13-year-old boy at the center of the scandal, Baena reportedly has three other children, though their ages are unknown), two bathrooms and is spread over 2,325 square feet. The wood home was built in 1994, has a fireplace, a two-car garage, as well as a pool and basketball hoop set up in the backyard. So, more or less your standard suburban home. Matthew Perry Returning to Rehab to Focus on Sobriety By Tracey Harrington McCoy 'Friends' star Matthew Perry is returning to rehab, PEOPLE reports. The 41-year-old actor, who has struggled with prescription pills and alcohol in the past, is returning to rehab to continue his recovery. "I'm making plans to go away for a month to focus on my sobriety and to continue my life in recovery," he said in a statement. "Please enjoy making fun of me on the World Wide Web." Perry was in rehab twice before: once in 1997 and again in 2001. And in 2000, he was hospitalized for alcohol-related pancreatitis. A source told PEOPLE there wasn't a relapse and that Perry plans to enter a facility soon. The actor currently stars on ABC sitcom, 'Mr. Sunshine.'

Lindsay Lohan Gets Merciful Sentence for Theft 50 minutes ago by TMZ Staff Lindsay Lohan dodged a huge bullet today -- she won't be locked up in jail ... this after pleading no contest to misdemeanor theft. Lindsay's attorney Shawn Holley entered the plea a few minutes ago -- Lindsay wasn't in court. Judge Stephanie Sautner said during the hearing, she doesn't believe Lindsay's problem is substance abuse, but rather her problems are more deeply rooted and she is self-medicating to relieve those problems. As a result, Judge Sautner is not requiring Lindsay to undergo substance abuse counseling. Lindsay will not get additional time for the theft. She will be required to serve 120 days for her probation violation, and we've learned the Sheriff's Department may allow Lindsay to do the time at home, with an electronic monitoring device. In reality, the 120 days will amount to 14 days. But during that time, Lindsay cannot leave her home, even to do community service. Lindsay must complete psychological counseling and a shoplifters alternative class -- seriously. Once Lindsay completes her 480 hours of community service, her probation in the DUI case will terminate, but Lindsay is now on 3 years probation for the theft -- so if she screws up again, she's screwed.

Bieber: Don't spread gossip...I'm a kid Justin Bieber appears to be biting back after being labeled a brat by "CSI: Crime Scene Investigation" star Marg Helgenberger. "It's kinda lame when someone you met briefly and never worked with comments on you. I will continue to wish them luck and be kind," Bieber, who appeared in two episodes of the popular CBS series earlier this year, tweeted yesterday. As Marquee previously reported, Helgenberger claimed during a recent radio interview with Europe's Radio 1 that Bieber behaved badly on set. "I shouldn't be saying this, but he was kind of a brat," she said. "He was very nice to me. But he locked one of the producers in a closet and he put his fist through a cake that was on the cast's table." But Bieber may beg to differ. "I know who I am and sometimes people r just going 2 say what they want. Keep ur head up and be the man ur mama raised. #killemwithkindness," he tweeted. "Rumors are just that... rumors. The singer, 47, who has struggled with substance abuse in the past, has recently entered an out-patient treatment program. "Whitney Houston is currently in an out-patient rehab program for drug and alcohol treatment," her rep tells PEOPLE in a statement. "Whitney voluntarily entered the program to support her long-standing recovery process." Houston initially entered rehab in 2004, telling ABC News interviewer Diane Sawyer at the time: "I partied a lot. Trust me: I partied my tail off." But, the singer also admitted, "You get to a point where you know the party's over."

She can feed them normal...but having a name like Apple, isn't.
