  1. Amy Winehouse dead after 'drink and drugs binge'

by Will Payne, Sunday Mirror 24/07/2011

TRAGIC Amy Winehouse was found dead yesterday aged just 27. Her death followed a binge on ecstasy and booze, we can reveal.

The troubled singer, who spent years battling heroin and drink addictions, is believed to have been found slumped at home by her bodyguard. But she was already “beyond help” by the time ambulance crews and police arrived. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

At 8.45pm a private ambulance arrived at the house and five minutes later Amy was brought out in a body bag.

Last night her heartbroken mother said she believed her daughter’s death had been “only a matter of time” when they met just 24 hours before she died.

“She seemed out of it. But her passing so suddenly still hasn’t hit me,” said Janis Winehouse, who will now always remember how Amy said, ‘I love you mum’ at the end of an enjoyable day together.

“They are the words I will always treasure,” said Janis. “I’m glad I saw her when I did.”

On hearing the news, Amy’s distraught father Mitch Winehouse wept: “This isn’t real. I’m completely devastated.

Speaking from New York, the taxi driver and part-time singer said: “I’m getting the next plane back. I’m coming home. I have to be with Amy.

“I can’t crack up for her sake. My family need me. I’m devastated, it’s such a shock.”

Last night a neighbour told how he heard noises from Amy’s home on Saturday afternoon.

“At about 3.30am I heard crying from next door... terrible crying like somebody mourning. The ambulances and police cars arrived shortly after that.”

Police described Amy’s death as “unexplained”. But friends who have seen her over the last few weeks say she had hit the self-destruct button over the last two days in wild drinking sessions around Camden, North London.

A friend said: “She has spent the last seven days on a massive bender and people were saying she’s going to drink herself to death.”

Friends who were with her believe she died from a “bad” ecstasy pill combined with huge amounts of alcohol and the fact she suffered from emphysema.

One friend partying with her over the last weeks said: “It was an ecstasy overdose. She could do cocaine until the cows come home. But this was obviously a dodgy pill.”

That was backed up by MTV producer Danny Panthaki, who claimed: “My friend’s boyfriend is a policeman, and he’s the one who found Amy Winehouse dead. Overdosed on ecstasy.”

There were tributes last night from some of music’s biggest names. Sir Elton John said: “She was one of the most seminal artists this country has ever produced.”

Lady Gaga wrote on twitter: “RIP to the amazing #amywinehouse. Such a talented singer.” Mark Ronson, who produced her multi-million selling Back To Back album, said: “She was my musical soulmate and likea sister to me. This is one of the saddest days of my life.”

Rolling Stone Ronnie Wood, who was with Amy earlier in the week, said: “It’s a very sad loss of a very good friend.” Kate Moss said on twitter: “RIP Amy Winehouse, So upset, my heart goes out to her, sad to see such talent vanish from the world.” Lily Allen said: “Its just beyond sad, there’s nothing else to say. She was such a lost soul, may she rest in peace.”

Rihanna said on Twitter: “Dear God have mercy!!! I am SICK about this right now! Dear Amy.”

Ex Premier Gordon’s wife Sarah Brown said on Twitter: “Sad, sad news of Amy Winehouse – great talent, extraordinary voice, and tragic death.”

US singer LeAnn Rimes wrote: “RIP Amy Winehouse. So sad to see such a talent gone.”

Chris Goodman, a spokesman for Amy’s management, said: “We are all shocked and devastated.”

The star made her last public appearance on Wednesday with goddaughter Dione Broomfield at the iTunes festival at Camden Roundhouse. And we can reveal how on the night before she died Amy spent an hour on the phone to best friend Kelly Osbourne, who said: “I was speaking to her last night, she seemed absolutely fine, I don’t understand how this could have happened.”

However another friend said: “There was always a danger of something like this. Her drinking is totally out of control. She’s constantly out of control on vodka. She’d drink bottle after bottle and mixing those quantities with drugs is lethal.”

Just two days ago neighbours said they saw her arrive in a cab with Big Brother star Aisleyne Horgan-Wallace. She collapsed when she got out of the taxi and had to be carried inside.

Soon after her death, police cordoned off the area, aiming to question everyone who had been in and out in the last few days. Around 150 fans gathered and Amy’s distraught boyfriend Reg Traviss also arrived.

Amy’s bodyguard Ray Grange was being questioned as a witness. He is believed to have found the body and raised the alarm.

In May she had admitted herself to The Priory clinic in South West London and was pictured swigging a bottle of vodka. Just weeks later her European tour was cancelled after  a  shambolic performance in Belgrade when she was booed offstage.

Only hours before her body was discovered her management team released a statement calling off the tour indefinitely and saying Amy was “withdrawing from all scheduled performances”.

Last night it was revealed that in line with Jewish tradition, Amy’s funeral could be held today if police are satisfied with the results of their post-mortem examination.

Amy’s death puts her in the infamous “27 Club” of drink- and drug-troubled rock stars who all died at the same age. She joins Kurt Cobain, Brian Jones, Jim Morrison, Jimi Hendrix and Janis Joplin.

  2. Eric Dane Checks Into Rehab

    By Tim Nudd

    Wednesday July 20, 2011 11:30 AM EDT

Facebook Tweet Grey's Anatomy star Eric Dane recently entered a rehab clinic in Los Angeles to battle an addiction to painkillers.

"Actor Eric Dane voluntarily checked himself into a treatment facility to help him get off of pain medication that he was prescribed for a sports injury that he suffered over the recent hiatus. He reports back to work this week. Business as usual," his rep says in a statement.

The news comes just a few weeks after PEOPLE confirmed that Dane, 38, and his wife Rebecca Gayheart, 39, are expecting their second child. Daughter Billie is 16 months old.

  3. I must say that Crazy,Stupid,Love looks very intriguing(Steve Carell, a very yummy looking Ryan Gosling, Julianne Moore, Emma Stone) . Anyone, maybe Bobby D, can shed some light on if it's all trailer, or is the trailer just an appetizer?

I'm not a Rom-Com...guy, but that trailer looks hilarious. I will be seeing in a couple of weeks and report back.

    Thanks! :inlove:

Saw this movie....and it was surprisingly, really good. One of the best films I have seen this year...SERIOUSLY. As I said time and time again...I normally hate EVERYTHING. lol.

The best way to describe this movie is, "About A Boy" meets "Love, Actually". If you liked those two movies....then this the movie for you. I was not a fan of Steve Carrell...but I am turning into one now. It was a perfect blend of his deadpan comedy along with him actually doing some very convincing acting.

The only beef I had was...it could've been a good 20-30 minutes shorter.

  4. Wondering "why" someone isn't married - happy single, very independent, haven't met anyone they want to marry - is one thing. Wondering what is "wrong" with them - damaged from previous relationships or parents divorce, too picky, selfish - is quite another.

Sure. I'm sure those thoughts are are completely separated and not intertwined at all. ;)

On another familiar subject...Jen is doing press for her new movie. And Brad's name is coming up...AH-GAIN. Surprise, surprise.

  6. I think she is beautiful. I think she's a pretty good actress (I stopped watching Mad Men after the first two seasons, but recently watched her on Firefly, and she was on an episode of Body of Proof with her husband) But she dresses for SHIT on the red carpet. Other women with big boobs manage to find dresses where their boobs are not trying to strangle them. Really. Even Oprah looks gorgeous when she goes all out on the red carpet. It can be done. Especially when you have money to buy what you want AND HAVE IT TAILORED.

It's nice for curvy girls to have role models in Hollywood, as there are precious few left with curves. But when she dresses up - it's not even worth it. It's so sad. So I'm with Bobby - I'm sick of her talking about her body. Surely she must have some other outside interests to share with the world??

Totally agree. She also seems like she has zero personality...like she is a robot or something, at least when she is being interviewed. Weird...she's built like the women most of us regular dudes are into...but something's amiss.

  7. Never, ever, ever, ever, in a million years would I ever think to be bored with a woman talking about her curves...but then along came Christina Hendricks....

Do you think you'd feel differently if she were standing in front of you talking about them? lol

Especially if she was wearing the bathing suit at the time. :4biggrin:

Nope. I'm a dude...so that means I'm not into chatty cathy's. No matter how curvy they are. ^_^

  8. Jonathan Rhys Meyers's Battle with Addiction

    By Dahvi Shira

It was a shock when Jonathan Rhys Meyers was hospitalized on Tuesday due to a relapse – but the talented actor's troubles are nothing new.

Dating back to early 2005, the Tudors star, 33, has bounced in and out of rehab and been arrested or detained for several drunken brawls.

In 2007, almost six months after his second trip to rehab, the first of Meyers's public violent tirades got him in trouble with the law. After demonstrating erratic, abusive behavior at the Dublin, Ireland, airport, the actor was arrested and released shortly thereafter.

Meyers's lawyer apologized on behalf of the star less than a month later for his "unacceptable and out of character" actions, which were later determined to be alcohol-related. But two and a half years later, Meyers faced a case of déjá vu.

After allegedly punching a Charles De Gaulle airport lounge employee while drunk in 2009, Meyers was detained by French police. Handcuffed and placed in custody, the actor remained in a sober lock-up area for three hours before being released.

Following that run-in with the law, Meyers stayed out of headlines until a year later when he reportedly had yet another airport altercation. The actor was allegedly reprimanded for using the 'N' word and displaying drunk and disorderly conduct at New York's JFK airport while boarding a flight to L.A.

Shortly thereafter, he was headed back to rehab again.

"He just really wants to get better," a source close to the actor told PEOPLE at the time. "This has been an ongoing battle for him."

Meyers, who was born with a serious heart problem, has consistently experienced bumps in the road. Expelled from high school at 16 for truancy, the actor lost his mom to illness in 2007 when she was only 50.

"Accidental overdoses are on the rise, and deaths due to overdoses have increased significantly in the last 10 years," Dr. David Sack, M.D., CEO of Promises Treatment Centers, explains to PEOPLE. "This change is due to the epidemic abuse of prescription narcotics which are highly lethal when combined with alcohol or other drugs."

Adds Sack, "to recover, an individual has to believe they have a problem. The fact that Rhys Meyers was trying to send away the ambulance suggests he didn't recognize the seriousness of the problem and that he was still hoping to conceal it. If on reflection he decides to re-engage in treatment, his prognosis could be very good. There are many examples of celebrities who recover with treatment after failing repeatedly."

  9. Christina Hendricks Can't Find a Bathing Suit for Her Curves

    By Tracey Harrington McCoy

Christina Hendricks is known for her curvy figure as much as her breakthrough role as Joan Holloway on AMC's hit show 'Mad Men'--but it turns out, her curves can make shopping a bit difficult.

"It's really hard to find a bathing suit if you have breasts," she told Lucky Magazine [via UsMagazine.com.] "You either get smooshed down or there's no support. My husband and I have sketched out designs."

But when it comes to clothing, Hendricks knows exactly what works for her. "I have to be careful about my proportions and keep it simple," the 36-year-old actress revealed. "What works for me is structure and something that shows my waist."

For red-carpet events, the redhead also knows who to call. "[i love] Vivienne Westwood for drama, L'Wren Scott for her perfect tailoring and body consciousness and Zac Posen for whimsy," Hendricks said. But bottom line: "I try to remain calm and remind myself that this is a fun, lovely event."

  10. Jonathan Rhys Meyers Hospitalized After Suicide Attempt: Report

By Tim Nudd and Liz Corcoran

    Thursday June 30, 2011 09:00 AM EDT

Jonathan Rhys Meyers was hospitalized in London this week after a possible suicide attempt involving pills, according to a report.

The star of The Tudors, 33, who has battled alcohol addiction over the years, was found slumped on the floor of his home Tuesday night by paramedics answering an emergency call, the Sun reports.

He reputedly refused treatment, so the paramedics called the police, and Meyers was taken to hospital.

A Scotland Yard spokesman tells PEOPLE: "We can confirm we were called by the London Ambulance Service to an address in NW8 to report to a man refusing treatment. Police attended, and the man was taken by ambulance to a central London hospital. That was the end of our involvement."

The actor was reportedly discharged from hospital early Wednesday.

Lohan Flunks Booze Test -- Ordered to Court

6/22/2011 6:11 PM PDT by TMZ Staff

Lindsay Lohan tested positive for alcohol earlier this month ... and has been ordered to appear in front of an L.A. County Superior Court judge tomorrow morning ... and the Probation Dept. wants her in jail.

Here's what we know. Lindsay was tested twice last week. Sources tell TMZ ... Lindsay tested positive for alcohol on one of the tests and negative on the other. In both tests, she tested negative for drugs. One of the tests was administered just after Lindsay had a rooftop barbecue party.

Sources tell TMZ ... the L.A. County Probation Department will ask Judge Stephanie Sautner to yank her out of house arrest and throw her in L.A. County Jail.

And, we're told, members of the D.A.'s office -- will make an appearance as well, to lower the boom on Lindsay. The D.A. is still handling the DUI probation part of Lindsay's criminal saga. The L.A. City Attorney is handling the necklace case.

The Probation Department is pissed off because they tried to force Lindsay to take two tests in May but Lindsay's lawyer, Shawn Holley, refused to make Lindsay submit, claiming it wasn't part of her probation. Turns out it was, so Lindsay subsequently took the two tests, one of which she failed.

The Probation Dept. is also ticked that Lindsay is having parties while under house arrest.

Judge Sautner will hold a hearing tomorrow at 10 AM. Of course, we'll be there.

That's insulting to a box of rocks....

  12. Gwyneth Paltrow Goops on Gays and the Bible

Today 2:22 PM PDT by Marc Malkin

    Preach, Gwyneth Paltrow!

It's no surprise that the Oscar winner supports gay rights, so it totally makes since that she's decided to toast Gay Pride month on her Goop blog.

However, what did come as a bit of surprise is...

She decided to tackle the hot button issue of gays and religion.

"A few months ago, in the heat of the tragic teen suicides that came about from intolerance of homosexuality, I saw a man on television who was apologizing for wishing death on gays from his Facebook page," Paltrow writes in a post, titled "Homosexuality in the Bible." "This member of an Arkansas school board was contrite for the violence in his words, but maintained that his values pertaining to homosexuality would remain, as he felt homosexuality was condemned in the bible."

The Oscar winner goes on to write, "When my daughter come home from school one day saying that a classmate had two mommies, my response was, 'Two mommies? How lucky is she?!' What does it actually say in the bible that will cause some people to be upset by my line of thinking?"

Paltrow also includes a couple of other pro-gay writings from a Episcopal priests as well as one from Kabbalah guru Michael Berg.

But she also posted a not-so-supportive argument from Dr. John Stott of All Souls Church in London. A note before his anti-gay Bible thumping reads, "We wanted as many perspectives as possible on this issue and so we are also including a more conservative voice here below."

Bravo to Paltrow for her pro-gay stance and teaching her children about acceptance—and even for her willingness to listen to opposing points of view.

But consider this: Let's say she was writing about Jewish pride—would she have felt the need to include an anti-Semitic point of view? Or how about celebrating Black History Month with the inclusion of a racist's rantings?

Until the basic human rights of gay people are accepted similarly—as long overdue by some who would use their faith as a reason to hate or divide—we still have a long way to go, Goop.

  13. Amy Winehouse back in rehab

Ian Gavan / Getty Images file

Defying the lyrics of her hit song once again, singer Amy Winehouse on Wednesday checked into a rehab clinic as part of her ongoing battle with alcohol addiction, her rep confirmed to People.

Winehouse "has embarked on a treatment program at the Priory Clinic. She wants to be ready for performances in Europe this summer and decided to seek an assessment. She will remain at the Priory on doctors' advice," the rep said in a statement.

A source close to the singer told the magazine that it was her father Mitch Winehouse who coerced her to go to rehab. "Her dad sat her down and said 'I think you're drinking too much again.' So she agreed to do an assessment to stop it from becoming a bigger problem."

That didn't keep Winehouse from one last hurrah: she reportedly downed a miniature bottle of Smirnoff vodka on her way to the clinic, "in typical Amy style," said the source.

  14. Report: Jeff Conaway brain dead, to be taken off life support by grieving family

    By Carina Adly MacKenzie

    May 26, 2011 6:10 PM ET

"Grease" and "Taxi" star Jeff Conaway is set to be taken off of life support, reports RadarOnline. The actor, who has long struggled with drug addiction, was found unconscious on May 11 as a result of pneumonia exacerbated by substance abuse. He was put into an induced coma, struggling with sepsis, and has been on a ventilator and a feeding tube since.

"Doctors advised the family that Jeff has had no brain function since he was brought into the hospital," says a source close to the family. "The feeding tube has already been removed. The ventilator which is breathing for Jeff, will be removed sometime this afternoon. No measures will be made to try and revive him once the breathing tube is removed."

Dr. Drew Pinsky, who treated Conaway on "Celebrity Rehab," visited Conaway in the hospital. While his initial reports were hopeful, saying that Conaway would likely recover, he posted on May 21, "yes,we all need to pray for him.Not doing well today suddenly."

Conaway, 60, is best known for his work as Kenickie in "Grease," and for his star turns on "Taxi" and "Babylon 5." He began his career on Broadway at just 2 years old, and endured physical and sexual abuse as a child before leaving New York to attend the North Carolina School of the Arts. He married "Grease" co-star Olivia's sister, Rona Newton-John in 1980, but the couple divorced five years later. In 1990, he married Keri Conaway, and though it is not known when the couple officially divorced, he is estranged from her.

  15. De La Hoya -- Cocaine Use Triggered Marital Infidelity

5/23/2011 10:50 AM PDT by TMZ Staff

Oscar De La Hoya began drinking and using cocaine, which then caused him to have infidelity problems in his marriage ... sources connected with the former boxing champ tell TMZ.

We broke the story ... Oscar voluntarily checked himself into a treatment facility in California for substance abuse issues a few weeks ago.

Oscar has told friends he does not believe he hit bottom, but checked himself into rehab before things got totally out of control.

As one source put it ... Oscar has had fidelity issues and it seems to correlate with substance abuse ... and that's a matter he's dealing with in rehab.

  16. Zach Galifianakis to January Jones: 'everybody's going to forget about you'

    Mario Anzuoni / Reuters file

"Mad Men" star January Jones recently said that Zach Galifianakis was one of the most naturally funny men she'd ever met. So how did "The Hangover" star take the compliment? Well, he thought it was a bit of a headscratcher, considering he'd recently had some pretty harsh words for Jones.

Galifianakis told the Shortlist, "That’s really funny because, if I remember correctly, she and I were very rude to each other. It was crazy. I was at a party — I’d never met her — and she was like, 'Come sit down.' So I sit at her table and talk for 10 minutes, and she goes, 'I think it’s time for you to leave now,'" he said. "So I say, 'January, you are an actress in a show and everybody’s going to forget about you in a few years, so f---ing be nice,' and I got up and left. And she thinks that’s funny?"

"He is in a coma and unresponsive at this time," said manager Phil Brock.

Family members have been in and out of the hospital waiting for news, Brock said, adding, "He turned his head two days ago, but nothing since."

There is no word on whether or not doctors expect Conaway to wake up.

The former "Taxi" star, who also played bad-boy Kenickie in "Grease," has been plagued by health problems in recent years, including a bad fall a year ago that occurred when he was under the influence of methadone and OxyContin.

  18. Did Arnold Schwarzenegger Buy This Home for His Mistress and Love Child?

Today 2:01 PM PDT by Gina Serpe

Arnold Schwarzenegger's housekeeper turned mistress turned illegitimate baby mama was identified this morning and thanks to what we presume is the violation of all manner of land-speed laws, the media arrived en masse to set up camp at her Bakersfield, Calif., home just a few short hours later.

Well, we say her home. Her neighbors have a different story to tell.

According to them, the one-story home (which incidentally appears to have wisely been vacated before the swarm of reporters and their roughly two dozen news crews descended) on an otherwise quiet cul-de-sac was actually purchased for Mildred Patricia Baena by Schwarzenegger last year.

According to real estate records, Baena purchased the home last year for $268,000, but her next door neighbor, Mary Steelman, told the Bakersfield Californian that the real estate agent who closed the deal blabbed to Steelman (for whatever reason), that the home was actually purchased by the former governor for an employee of his who was retiring.

Neighbor Roger Steelman told a similar story to the New York Post, saying that the apparently loose-lipped realtor informed him that the Sperminator was purchasing the home for one of his "longtime assistants."

Kern County property records obtained by E! News show that Baena, listed as a single woman in the paperwork, purchased the home last June, taking out a $219,224 mortgage with a 30-year term.

But enough with the scandalous details—just how sweet a pad did Arnie buy his secret family?

Well, according to Trulia, the single family residence boasts four bedrooms (sounds like someone's sharing—other than the 13-year-old boy at the center of the scandal, Baena reportedly has three other children, though their ages are unknown), two bathrooms and is spread over 2,325 square feet.

The wood home was built in 1994, has a fireplace, a two-car garage, as well as a pool and basketball hoop set up in the backyard. So, more or less your standard suburban home.

Funny, we expected so much more from you, Arnie. On so many counts.

  19. Son dropping Schwarzenegger's last name

Patrick says on Twitter that he wants to be referred to as Shriver

    updated 23 minutes ago 2011-05-18T15:44:21

Patrick Arnold Schwarzenegger is taking his mother's side.

The 17-year-old son of Arnold Schwarzenegger and Maria Shriver has followed sister Katherine in tweeting out about their father's secret love child and tearing their family apart.

Patrick's revenge on Dad? He's dropping his famous surname.

Patrick revealed on Twitter that he now wanted to be referred to as Patrick Shriver. He also expressed his feelings over the bombshell revelations that his Sperminator dad fathered a child with a member of his staff, jeopardizing his 25-year marriage to Shriver.

"I love my family till death do us part," Patrick tweeted, then quoted lyrics by rapper Fort Minor: "Some days you feel like s--t...some days you want to quit and just be normal for a bit." Patrick also added the hastag #family.

His comments came after those of Katherine, 21, who tweeted, "This is definitely not easy but I appreciate your love and support as I begin to heal and move forward in life. I will always love my family."

Meanwhile, the scorned Shriver, who issued a statement Tuesday about this "painful and heartbreaking time," sought solace with longtime friend Oprah Winfrey.

Shriver was a surprise attendee at Winfrey's star-studded finale taping in Chicago Tuesday night and thanked the talk-host host for being a close friend for more than a quarter of a century.

"For more than 30 years you have bestowed upon me the most amazing friendship," she told Oprah. "You have shown love, support, wisdom, and most of all, the truth."

The audience erupting in applause at Shriver's remarks.

  20. I think the reason I'm shocked is - they lasted 25 years. Since she made it this long - why not stay together? Rumor is that she waited until her parents had died (and probably until he left office) But I'd think that she learned to live with all his crap for lo these many years - so why not keep it up?

The press finally found out and was ready to go with it. That's my guess. I watched CNN and that TMZ dude Levin had admitted they had gotten some tips and were pursuing the story and were pushing for a response from the Schwarzenegger family to the rumors. So something or someone leaked.

  21. I think she knew what she was marrying the day she said "I do". It's always been the one reason I can't quite respect her.

I think she knew about the child but wanted to play 'First Lady of California' and then dump his ass. I don't doubt for a second that she got exactly what she knew she would from this relationship.

Agreed. I'm not in total shock as people seem to be. I watched her defend his allegations of groping and philandering when he first started campaigning as Governor...I'm like...uhhh...u know that you are married to Ahhhnuuuld, right? Not saying anyone asked for it...but, c'mon.

  22. Sheridan: Cherry Says Parker Was Gay to Marry Eva

5/14/2011 1:00 AM PDT by TMZ Staff

Nicollette Sheridan claims "Desperate Housewives" creator Marc Cherry committed the ultimate wedding faux pas -- claiming Tony Parker must have been into boys as he said "I do" to Eva.

TMZ obtained Nicollette's declaration in the brutal legal fight she's having with Cherry over her firing on the show.

In the declaration, Nicollette claims, "I was present at Eva Longoria's wedding to Tony Parker, when Mr. Cherry commented that 'Tony must like boys, because he is marrying this -- this little, small girl with no t*ts and -- that looks like a boy.'"

For the record, he couldn't be that gay because he divorced her. Kidding.

  23. Jon Cryer 'Jazzed' About Working with Ashton Kutcher

Facebook Tweet Charlie Sheen called him a "turncoat, a traitor, a troll", but Two and a Half Men's Jon Cryer had only nice things to say about his former costar after news broke that Ashton Kutcher is joining the sitcom.

"I want to express my enormous gratitude to Charlie Sheen for eight great seasons. I'm extremely proud of the work we've done together, and I will miss him," the actor, 46, says in a statement. "But I'm also looking forward to this new beginning."

As for Sheen's replacement – whom the warlock himself called "a sweetheart and a brilliant comedic performer" – Cryer, again, had only kind words, even if he seemed to be stretching the truth a little.

"Ashton is an extraordinarily talented guy, and his presence will be an asset to our show," he says. "We are old friends from our male modeling days, and we're both looking forward to being judged for our comedic artistry, as opposed to our exceptional physical beauty."

Cryer adds: "I'm jazzed about the news this morning that Two and a Half Men is coming back! For all the rest of the cast and crew I'm sure they are equally excited.”

News of Kutcher's television gig comes more than two months after Sheen was fired from the show following a now-infamous feud with producer Chuck Lorre.

Charlie Sheen has a few words to say about Ashton Kutcher joining "Men."

    Well that didn't take long.

Ousted "Two and a Half Men" star Charlie Sheen is speaking up about CBS and Warner Bros. hiring Ashton Kutcher to replace him on the hit sitcom. He shared some kind words about the younger actor to TMZ, saying, "Kutcher is a sweetheart and a brilliant comedic performer." Then he got a bit snarky.

"Enjoy the show, America. Enjoy seeing a 2.0 in the demo every Monday, WB," he said to the gossip site. In other words, Sheen thinks "Men's" going to lose the demographic that gave the show its huge ratings.

CBS and Warner Bros. announced the addition of Kutcher to the show in a statement on Friday. The 33-year-old actor won't be taking over Sheen's Charlie Harper role, but will instead be introduced as a new character, sources told The Hollywood Reporter. Insiders also indicated that the show is heading back into production ASAP and would be back in the fall.
