  1. Aniston pal Handler rips 'homewrecker' Jolie

Comic goes on foul-mouthed rant against Brad Pitt's main squeeze

Chelsea Handler recently vacationed with Jennifer Aniston in Mexico.

    Us Weekly

Make no mistake: Chelsea Handler is definitely, absolutely on Team Aniston!

During a stand-up comedy show in Newark, N.J., over the weekend, Handler — new BFF to Jennifer Aniston, 41 — went on a foul-mouthed rant against Angelina Jolie.

"She's a homewrecker, she is," Handler, 35, said of Jolie, the current of love of Aniston's ex Brad Pitt.

"She can rescue as many babies from as many countries as she wants to," the comedienne continued of the star, who has adopted three kids from around the world. "I don't f---ing believe you. She gives interviews, 'I don't have a lot of female friends.' Because you're a f---ing (expletive)," Handler bellowed.

Handler and Aniston spent Thanksgiving weekend together with other female pals in Los Cabos, Mexico.

The "Chelsea Lately" hostesses' one complaint about the sunny getaway: "I was trying not to get photographed next to her in a bathing suit, for obvious reasons," Handler quipped last week.

  2. Find Out Which Celeb Asked Out Newly Single Eva Longoria

    Friday – November 26, 2010 – 3:19pm

Nine days after Eva Longoria filed for divorce from husband Tony Parker, one of Hollywood's most eligible bachelors is hoping he can give the Desperate Housewives star a second chance at love.

Dane Cook, who has been linked to Jessica Simpson in the past, used his Twitter account to test the waters with the actress Friday morning.

"Is it too soon to ask Eva Longoria if she's ready to date?" Cook, 38, asked his followers. "I'd like to take her to dinner, a divorce and then a movie."

Though Longoria, 35, has yet to respond to the comedian's tweet, a source close to the actress tells UsMagazine.com that she's ready to move forward. "She's figuring out how to put her life back together," the insider says.

  4. Josh Duhamel Kicked Off Plane in NYC :censored:

12/3/2010 8:44 AM PST by TMZ Staff

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Josh Duhamel was escorted off of a plane yesterday after he refused to turn off his BlackBerry ... sources tell TMZ.

We're told Duhamel was on a flight from New York (LGA) to Kentucky -- when, according to sources, the flight attendant asked Duhamel to turn off his BlackBerry before takeoff ... but he refused.

One passenger tells us Duhamel was "very rude" and "taunting the attendant."

We're told the flight attendant asked Josh to turn off the device three separate times -- and on the third time Josh laughed at his request.

We're told Duhamel's reaction infuriated the attendant, who then called for backup -- and the plane, which was already on the runway, was turned back to the gate.

Two officers eventually boarded the plane and escorted Duhamel off of the aircraft.

We're told passengers were pissed -- because the incident further delayed the flight.

Before boarding the plane, we're told Josh was in the airport bar watching the Cleveland/Miami game.

Duhamel's rep told TMZ Josh was texting on his BlackBerry about his flight being delayed. The rep adds, "He's sorry."

  6. Celebs Love Jennifer Aniston, So Why Doesn't America? :vomit2:

By Sarah Crow Posted Dec 1st 2010 06:29PM

Notoriously acerbic comedienne Chelsea Handler went on vacation in Mexico with buddy Jennifer Aniston over Thanksgiving and, despite her famously sharp tongue, had nothing but nice things to say about the actress. Handler, who appeared on last night's episode of 'The Tonight Show,' told host Jay Leno of their trip, "[Jennifer] was sweet enough to take me on vacation with her ... I was trying not to get photographed next to her, for obvious reasons."

Handler isn't the only celebrity to praise Aniston in the press. 'The Bounty Hunter' co-star and rumored flame Gerard Butler told Us Magazine of the actress, "She's like my best buddy. She's so down-to-earth, so easy going. She's incredibly self-deprecating and again, just alive!"

While it seems that Aniston has some Hollywood heavyweights in her corner, she can't seem to shake the negative press she earned for her most famous role: the former Mrs. Brad Pitt. Although it's been over five years since Aniston and Pitt divorced, rarely a week goes by without the actress's rumored romantic entanglements appearing in the press, often painting a less-than-flattering portrait of Aniston as some kind of down-and-out spinster.

Despite her fame, fortune and reputation as a genuinely nice person, it seems as though many media outlets aren't ready to let Aniston step out of the shadow of her former relationship or that of Pitt and current partner, Angelina Jolie.

Many celebrities whose relationships have crumbled amid rumors of infidelity have received support from the media and fans, but Aniston has consistently been lampooned by the press while Pitt and Jolie have become beloved Hollywood royalty.

    The question is, why?

The fact of the matter is, Aniston's situation represents some of our worst fears. She is not only beautiful but successful and, by all accounts, a lovely individual, but she still couldn't make her seemingly perfect relationship with Pitt work. To make matters worse, she was allegedly left for a younger, more successful and, by some accounts, more beautiful woman.

While most celebrity mistresses or rebounds are criticized in the press, Jolie was a respected actress and beauty icon before she became involved with Pitt. Jolie's reputation hardly took a hit when she announced she was pregnant with Pitt's child only a year after his divorce, leading many to believe the two had been involved while Pitt was still married.

According to Dr. Lorraine B. Cates, a New York City psychoanalyst and couple's therapist, "Angelina Jolie projects an all-knowingness that people like to feel. Our culture is having a very hard time dealing with just being human, something Aniston projects so well. With the enormity of all the cultural changes assaulting us, there seemingly is a return to wanting gods and goddesses."

Despite Aniston's discretion regarding her post-Pitt relationships, her every move has been critiqued by the press, with everything from her looks to her reported flings being deemed "sad." Even 'Project Runway' charmer Tim Gunn weighed in on the actress, telling OK!, "Sometimes I think she has 'desperate character' written on her."

Cates says that the constant criticism of Aniston is less indicative of a problem with the actress herself, but with the culture she's a part of. "There is a need to dissect life into good, bad, right and wrong, and the press does that. Jennifer Aniston is an example of a complicated human being that is striving to find meaning in her life," she says.

"The culprit is the press promulgating the tacit and sometimes not so tacit message that being a real human being is simply not acceptable -- that's what's sad in this scenario, certainly not Aniston."

  8. Can young 'Potter' stars maintain career magic?

Wizard franchise made them famous, but breaking free of these roles could be tough

    By Christopher Bahn

    TODAYshow.com contributor TODAYshow.com contributor

The magic is ending soon for the long-running Harry Potter series, which will close out with “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows,” being released in two parts Nov. 19 and July 2011. But filming is already over for its three stars -- Daniel Radcliffe, who plays the boy wizard, and Emma Watson and Rupert Grint, who play his best friends Hermione Granger and Ron Weasley.

Now it’s time for them to look ahead to their future, and answer a question even a Hogwarts professor might have trouble seeing in a crystal ball: Can they make the transition from child actors to successful grown-ups?

It’s not an easy one for any young celebrity, says Stephanie Zacharek, chief film critic for Movieline. “Because they’re working in this very weird world, a lot of things can go wrong for them. It isn’t what we would call a normal way to grow up. Different child actors handle it with varying degrees of success.”

For the Potter trio, all cast in their roles around age 10, the high-profile and long-term nature of the Potter series gives them several advantages over their peers. Perhaps the most important was relative stability as they were growing up.

“Warner Brothers [knew] that they were going to be stuck with these three people for a long time,” says Saint Paul Pioneer Press film critic (and TODAYshow.com contributor) Chris Hewitt. “One of the things they were specifically looking for [in casting the roles] were people from supportive families. The whole Lindsay Lohan thing has basically happened during the life of the Potter movies, and what a nightmare for them if one of those three had trod that path.”

..So far, the Potter trio has avoided the kind of self-destructive, tabloid-baiting behavior that has dogged other child stars.

“The danger of that has probably passed. I think they’re through the birthing stage of becoming celebrities,” says Melissa Anetti, writer for Potter fan site The Leaky Cauldron and author of “Harry, A History,” a book about Potter fandom. “I think it would have been a much different thing if these had been filmed in California. Because then they’d have had celebrities around them at all parts of their lives, they would have been invited to parties left and right, [and] would have started making friends that indulged their less responsible desires. You would have seen a different story.”

Instead, the actors, who are all now in their early 20s, have now graduated from what amounts to a Hogwarts-level school of filmmaking.

“They’ve worked with a couple different directors, and some of the greatest actors in England, let’s not forget,” says Hewitt. “I think it’s hard to imagine how monumental it has turned out to be for all three of them. I wonder if there have ever been auditions in the entire history of moviemaking that were that huge. That took somebody that nobody had ever heard of and turned them into one of the biggest stars in the world with eight huge hits on their resume. That’s kind of crazy—they got one job and it’s set all of them for life, and given them the opportunity to have an interesting career if they can figure out how to make it work.”

Hermione and Emma Watson are similar

That may or may not involve acting, although all three are slated to appear in at least one upcoming film. Watson in particular is branching out beyond her role as high-achieving witch Hermione, having made inroads into the fashion world as a model and launching her own clothing line, People Tree. She’s also appearing in Kenneth Branagh’s upcoming drama “My Week With Marilyn.”

“From the get-go, she was the one who was like her character,” says Movieline’s Zacharek. “She’s proficient, she knows what she’s doing, and at the same time she’s incredibly likable. Her, I’ve never been worried about.”

Watson is also taking time away from acting to study at Brown University, a move Zacharek approves of: “Maybe it is better, especially if you have an unusual childhood, to do something that’s more normal for a change. Just go out there and be around regular people for a while. I don’t think it hurts an actor.”

“It seems as though Emma’s going to have the most varied career out of everybody,” says Anetti. “I can see her being a lot more than just a pretty face as she gets older.”

Hewitt cautions that, given their limited appearances outside the Potter films, the jury is still out whether any of the three have the dramatic range to play more than the one role that made them famous.

“I still don’t know that we can tell yet how great any of them are going to be,” he says. “[The Harry Potter] movies are so much not really acting showcases anyway. I don’t think any of them have been given a huge amount of chances to show what they can do.”

    Another hurdle is potential typecasting.

“At this point they are so closely tied to their onscreen personas as the trio that it will be hard to break free from that,” says Andrew Sims, writer for Potter fan site mugglenet.com and host of Potter-themed podcast Mugglecast. “Dan (Radcliffe) has done a good job of trying to break free of that image.”

    Radcliffe branches out

As the Potter series’ central actor, Radcliffe has the highest public profile of the trio and is probably in the best jumping-off position for a post-Potter acting career. Forthcoming projects include gothic ghost story “The Woman In Black,” a remake of WWI war drama “All Quiet on the Western Front,” and a drama based on the murder of a photojournalist in Somalia, “The Journey is the Destination.”

“He can take on these roles that are a little bit more prestigious,” says Zacharek. “From where we’re standing now, maybe there’s more open for him than someone like Rupert Grint.”

Radcliffe has been careful to take roles that show his willingness to break out of the boy-wizard mold, poking fun at himself in an episode of Ricky Gervais’ sitcom “Extras,” and jumping into the traditional actors’ proving-ground of Broadway in the dark psychological drama “Equus,” in which he appeared nude. Next year, he’ll star alongside John Larroquette in the Broadway revival of “How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying.”

“I think it’s smart for Daniel Radcliffe to have done a lot of stage work,” says Hewitt. “That gave him the opportunity to learn a lot, and from a lot of people who know what they’re doing. ... I think with all of them, the main thing that would be smart for them to do is something that they’re passionate about. And I think all of them are doing that.”

As for Rupert Grint, the redheaded young actor may find himself more hemmed in than the others by his alter ego, the affable but inept Ron Weasley.

“He’s got that ginger hair, which is a liability for people. I can say that because I’m a redhead myself,” laughs Zacharek. “He’s good-looking, but I don’t know if he’s leading man material.”

So far, Grint's non-Potter filmography has been limited to smaller, quirky English-made indie comedies including “Driving Lessons” and “Wild Target,” and starring as hapless British Olympic ski jumper Eddie Edwards in the forthcoming “Eddie the Eagle.”

“I think he’s also going to be hard to cast,” agrees Hewitt. “He’s sort of unusual looking... I don’t know that he’s going to be playing a lot of romantic leads, so he might be better as a character actor anyway.”

That’s certainly not a bad path for a future actor; after all, it’s working for another red-haired comic Brit, Simon Pegg. “It’s so hard to say because comedy is so hard to do,” says Zacharek. “I think it’s one of those things, he’ll have to just feel his way along, and see how it goes.”

  9. I'm holding onto my utter dislike of Fishticks...all of this singing and whatnots is only for her upcoming movie.

I like the song by Cee-Lo as is, and not sung by Fishsticks...it totally could've been my High School College Song theme song. So I will not watch Gwen sing on Glee, could not, would not...so let me be. ;)

  10. Never liked this couple to begin with...and before some troll calls me jealous, mean-spirited, and bitter schadenfreuden-ist(which I am all of the above)....let it be known that I didn't expect them to be married in the first place. :4biggrin:

  11. I am very proud of my English heritage so the engagement news is very exciting to me. I love the idea that he gave his mother's (Diana) ring to her. My tenth anniversary ring is very similar because our daughter's were both born in September and sapphires mean "forever loved." I just love the romance of a royal wedding!

I kind of do, and I kind of don't love that he gave her his mom's engagement ring. I do, because of the sentimentality - his mom loved him so much and he was just a child when she died. I don't because her marriage was sad - Prince Charles was in love with Camilla before, during and after the marriage to Diana, but he couldn't marry Camilla; the Queen was jealous of the attention and love the public gave Diana and of course, her tragic end. I'm not so sure I'd want that particular engagement ring to start a marriage into the monarchy.

Wow...very well said. I also loved Diana, probably since the Queen didn't. :1smile:

I can only add that the Middleton babe looks like a younger Elizabeth Hurley or Jacqueline Bisset... :4biggrin:

  12. Daniel Craig Ends Engagement To Satsuki Mitchell

Did Daniel call off his engagement to Satsuki Mitchell so that he could be with Rachel Weisz?

    by Jenina Nunez

If you're a Hollywood celebrity who wants to help validate any rumors that you're stepping out with someone new, all you need to do is break up with your spouse or spouse-to-be, and let the internet go ablaze with speculation!

Well, it looks like that may be the case for the handsome Daniel Craig, who we're just hearing has broken off his more-than-two-year engagement with producer Satsuki Mitchell, with a source telling reporters: "Things seemed to have cooled between them," according to the UK edition of Glamour.

It's a shame that things didn't seem to work out for the pair. But now we're wondering if there's any truth to those rumors that there's something going on romantically between Daniel and actress Rachel Weisz, who quietly split from her Black Swan director husband Darren Aronofsky over the summer. Is Rachel Weisz Dating Daniel Craig?

The plot thickens! And, while the timing of the two breakups seems to indicate that maybe Daniel and Rachel may have had more than just on-screen chemistry during the filming their upcoming movie Dream House, a source reportedly told E! that nothing is happening: "Daniel Craig and Rachel Weisz have been friends since their theater years when they were younger. They are the best of friends but not lovers."

But so far no word from Daniel or Rachel's reps, which only makes us wonder whose side of the story we should believe.

Either way, it's pretty common for actors meet on sets and fall in love—and there are a slew of Hollywood romances that started out just that way. Will that be the story for Daniel Craig and Rachel Weisz? We're not sure. But, admittedly, they would make a potentially cute couple.

If nothing else, this should generate some additional excitement for their new film. We can't wait to see how much chemistry they actually DO have.

  13. Potter is doomed I think, since the dude looks like Potter and is compact in size, in person.

I think the rest will probably do well...stage, indie flicks(what I would recommend). I think Emma makes out the best..but I still voted Different Strokes...lol, child actors have a tough outlook. :4biggrin:

    Me too! :4biggrin:

For whatever its worth, Daniel has three movies in production -- and good things (I hear anyway) do come in small boxes (notice I didn't say "packages?") :4biggrin:

    Good call.

  14. Hi BobbyD :hellowave:

I have to say that I like the show more today than when I posted my last thoughts on it. It's not my favorite show but I will continue watching. I like "hardcore" gangster-types, which may be a bigger part of why the Nucky character isn't drawing me in. I've come to the realization that Steve Buscemi works as the lead for this type of character, whereas I was sure initially that he couldn't pull this off. My uncertainty was because I didn't realize the exact nature of Nucky...he's no Tony Soprano, that's for sure :P

    :1smile: Hihoumio.

I Agree. I find it refreshing to find a new story about the early gangsters and prohibition. It also is showing how politics was mingled with corruption and the mob. I'm drawn to the people around Buscemi(not so much him), I especially really dig the Margaret widow character and her battle with early women's rights/suffrage while being a kept woman of Nucky, who had her husband murdered. I dig her...she's got something brewing that will be fun to watch.

Maybe this will also finally lead to an Al Capone feature(long overdue).
