http://www.breitbart.com/news/2005/09/23/D8CQ8RH80.html Vegas Driver Said to See 'Demons' in Crowd Sep 23 7:20 PM US/Eastern By CHRISTINA ALMEIDA LAS VEGAS A man suspected of killing two tourists and injuring 12 others on the Las Vegas Strip told police he steered his car into the crowd on the sidewalk because they were staring at him like demons. Stephen M. Ressa, 27, also told police he saw people with their hands in their pockets and thought they might be armed with guns, according to an arrest report obtained Friday by The Associated Press. "They were staring at him like they were `demons,'" the report said. "Ressa admitted he became angry at them, and intentionally steered the vehicle toward them." Ressa, of Rialto, Calif., was arrested Wednesday evening shortly after the car barreled through the crowd and crashed into a cement barrier in front of Bally's hotel-casino. He remained jailed without bail on suspicion of murder and attempted murder. During two interviews with police, Ressa told detectives he had borrowed his mother's car and drove to Las Vegas, where he spent a few days gambling at various casinos and slept in the car. Although Ressa told police he had a drug and alcohol problem, he said he had used neither Wednesday. He told police he had been prescribed medication, but had stopped taking it. Results of alcohol and drug tests were pending. Rialto police Detective Sgt. Reinhard Burkholder said Thursday that Ressa was wanted for questioning in an assault on his mother, 54. "He punched her numerous times in the face and choked her into unconsciousness and stood over her with a butcher knife," Burkholder said. Earlier, Deputy Police Chief Greg McCurdy told reporters that Ressa appeared lucid and correctly answered questions about his ability to determine right and wrong. But Ressa's statements were "bizarre in nature," McCurdy said.

Kate Moss's Cocaine Flap Roils Designers at London Fashion Week Sept. 23 (Bloomberg) -- Kate Moss was the star of London Fashion Week and the waif-like model was nowhere near a catwalk. Moss dominated conversation among the 170 designers featured at London's biggest fashion show. The model was dropped by four apparel companies after the Mirror newspaper published pictures showing her using cocaine. Organizers complained that publicity surrounding Moss kept the 4,500 buyers at the show from paying attention to the new designs. ``It has detracted from a lot of creativity on the catwalk,'' Rachel Brettler, a spokeswoman for the British Fashion Council, which stages London Fashion Week, said in a telephone interview. The council represents designers with 750 million pounds ($1.34 billion) in annual sales. The show, based in two double-decker white tents in the grounds of the Natural History Museum in south Kensington, combined productions by well-known brands such as Paul Smith with those of 35 young designers, straight out of college and looking for lucrative contracts with high-street clothing stores. Burberry Group Plc, based in London, Paris-based Chanel SA and Swedish retailer Hennes & Mauritz AB dropped Moss from their campaigns because of the photographs. Moss's contract with Rimmel, a cosmetics brand owned by closely held Coty Inc., is ``under review,'' the company said yesterday. London's biggest newspaper, The Evening Standard, used its front page to expose cocaine use behind the scenes at the fashion show's parties. ``London Fashion Week has been dominated by Kate Moss,'' freelance fashion writer Karen Clarkson said in an interview broadcast on Sky News. ``There's been little coverage about the fashion itself. It's all been Kate Moss.'' Smaller Than Paris ``I take full responsibility for my actions,'' Moss said in a statement late yesterday. ``I also accept that there are various personal issues that I need to address and have started taking the difficult, yet necessary, steps to resolve them. I want to apologize to all of the people I have let down because of my behavior which has reflected badly on my family, friends, co- workers, business associates and others. '' The U.K. clothing industry produced 4 billion pounds ($7.2 billion) of goods in 2004, according to the London-based British Fashion Council, the industry's governing body. London's fashion show, lacking names such as Gucci, Chanel and Calvin Klein, contrasts with that of New York, where 100,000 guests see the work of 180 designers. The U.K. capital's event is perceived as a smaller, quirkier version of big-budget, haute- couture rivals in Paris and Milan, said London Fashion Week Chief Executive John Wilson. McQueen, McCartney ``There's a unique relationship between designers and the high street in the U.K. Stores like Debenhams and Marks and Spencer's invite designers to produce collections for them,'' he said in a telephone interview. ``That does not happen in any other country. And there is a growing appetite among British consumers for good, affordable design.'' Among past stars of London Fashion Week are Alexander McQueen, former design chief at Givenchy, Matthew Williamson and Julien MacDonald. The three were all once sponsored by a London project to help young designers put on catwalk shows. ``British designers just need more money,'' Jones said. ``And if the Alexander McQueens and Stella McCartneys were to come back from Paris and show in London, that would bring the big money over here.'' ``People come here to look for the next hot thing,'' Richard Nicoll, a designer who has worked as a freelancer for Louis Vuitton since leaving Central St. Martins College three years ago. ``It's not going to happen in New York or Paris. Young designers there are not taking risks'' `Waif' Look Elizabeth Hurley, Joan Collins and Mariah Carey attended London Fashion Week events, according to the Evening Standard. Yesterday was the last day of catwalk shows at the Fashion Week. ``There were a lot more celebrities around than normal, if that is a measure of the profile of the event,'' Dolly Jones, London-based editor of Vogue.com, said in a telephone interview. ``I think any celebrity scandal would have grabbed the front pages. I don't think because it was Kate Moss it took attention away from the designers this week.'' Moss, 31, has appeared on the front pages of British newspapers since the Mirror published the photographs and allegations Sept. 15, prompting debate about her work contracts and relationship with musician Pete Doherty, a self-confessed crack cocaine and heroin user. ``Kate Moss is an icon, she's a fashion star. She's living her life like everyone else,'' Welsh designer MacDonald said in an interview with ITV News. ``She's not doing anything different than your next-door neighbor does.'' Babyshambles Best-known for her work for Calvin Klein, Moss was first spotted as a teenager by the founder of the Storm model agency while walking through John F. Kennedy airport in New York. The model's waif look and boyfriends including actor Johnny Depp brought her worldwide fame. She has an estimated fortune of 30 million pounds, according to the Observer newspaper. Her relationship with Doherty, a singer with the band Babyshambles and formerly of The Libertines, this year caught the attention of the tabloid press after the musician's arrests on at least two occasions and admissions of drug use. Moss is a ``tremendous champion of British fashion,'' Wilson said in an interview with Channel Four news. ``We wish her very well. Fashion companies have to take their own decision on this.''

This gal is a frickin' trainwreck............her ex-boyfriend Dean Cain probably jumps for joy he got rid of her..........geez...she has had 2 drug overdoses already w/ this pregnancy...........I hope the authorities take this kid away....she has already abused it and its not even born yet......... http://www.miami.com/mld/miamiherald/enter...nt/12726891.htm Posted on Fri, Sep. 23, 2005 Police: Pregnant Mindy McCready overdoses Associated Press NASHVILLE, Tenn. - Country singer Mindy McCready was hospitalized after overdosing on antidepressants early Friday following a quarrel with the father of her unborn child. She was in fair condition Friday afternoon, officials said. According to a police report, McCready and William McKnight were arguing on the phone about whether his parents would help pay for the pregnancy. He cursed at McCready and she became angry and took about 30 antidepressant pills, the report says. After McKnight called her back and she didn't answer, he called police and an ambulance. McCready's lawyer did not return a phone message to his office. McCready, 29, has had a series of legal and personal problems in recent months, including a drunken driving arrest in Nashville, a suicide attempt and an arrest in Arizona on charges stemming from her involvement with a con man she said she was trying to help police catch. McKnight was also charged earlier this year with trying to kill her. McCready said he punched her in the face and tried to choke her. Last year, McCready was charged with obtaining the painkiller OxyContin fraudulently at a pharmacy. She pleaded guilty and was placed on three years' probation. McCready had a No. 1 hit in 1996 with "Guys Do It All the Time."

http://uk.news.yahoo.com/23092005/344/poli...doherty-s-alc... Rock star Pete Doherty is at the centre of another controversy after police confiscated alcohol from his band at breakfast time on Friday. Babyshambles frontman Doherty, 26, was in Dundee on tour when he and two other men were stopped by police. A Dundee City Council by-law makes it an offence to drink alcohol in public places. A Tayside Police spokeswoman said: "We can confirm that three men were stopped by officers in the Nethergate area of Dundee city centre at around 8.45am. They had alcohol taken from them, which was disposed of. They were given a warning and were allowed on their way." A spokesman for Doherty said: "I presume he would not have known there are different drinking laws in Dundee." Doherty has claimed people are "obsessed" with the hype surrounding his on/off girlfriend Kate Moss, who recently issued a public apology following allegations of cocaine abuse. The model has lost three modelling contracts and is being investigated by Scotland Yard following the allegations. In an interview with Dundee's Radio Tay, Doherty said: "A lot of people basically are obsessed with the missus and I don`t know really ... she's just a bird from South London." He later added: "I can't get my head round it really." Speaking to the radio station about the band, he said: "It's just really exciting to be doing at last what we do best - the only thing we can do really - just play tunes." Babyshambles are due to play a sold-out concert at Dundee's Fat Sams nightclub.

http://www.azcentral.com/ent/celeb/articles/0922moss.html azcentral.com Sept, 22, 2005 11:24 AM It's bad enough that Kate Moss has lost some jobs because she dabbled in the snow, but now a controversial religion wants the model to join their drug rehab program. Scientology, which seems to work its way into every other celebrity newsbyte, is reportedly trying to get a message to Moss. According to MSNBC's The Scoop, Moss, who was recently photographed snorting lines of coke, is the latest target for Scientology's helping hand. A well-placed source told The Scoop that members were "reaching out" to Moss in her time of need. "Scientology has become quite proactive in reaching out to people," says the source. "Kate is a woman who needs help and Scientology feels that they can steer her in the right direction." The source went on to say that Scientologists will be encouraging Moss to work with Narconon, a program with ties to Scientology. While one source was ready to talk, Greg LaClaire, head of the Scientology's Celebrity Center refused to comment on Moss, saying, "We don't talk about the private lives of anyone."

http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/blogs/sfgate/indexd?blogid=7 Bon Jovi Stuns Oprah with $1 Million Donation Rocker Jon Bon Jovi left talk show queen Oprah Winfrey speechless on her daytime program Wednesday, when he gave her $1 million toward her Hurricane Katrina relief effort. Bon Jovi and his bandmates were stunned by Winfrey's emotional two-day TV special from Louisiana and Mississippi last week, and her efforts to get supplies to the victims of the hurricane through her Angel Network charity. So they joined forces to give Oprah the biggest single donation to her cause, so she could continue to help those suffering in the aftermath of the August storm. Bon Jovi, who was a guest on Oprah's show, explained, "You could steward this so that it gets to the people who need it -- Habitat, Red Cross. That's from the four of us. "You told the human story. This isn't a race issue, it's a class issue and it's American people that we have to help." Thrilled Oprah took a moment to regain her composure and then said, "I've been doing this a long time and people have made donations and they've been very kind, but no one has ever given our Angel Network $1 million."

    Kate Moss

http://news.yahoo.com/s/nm/20050922/en_nm/moss_dc By Mike Collett-White Thu Sep 22, 3:35 PM ET LONDON (Reuters) - British supermodel Kate Moss broke her silence on Thursday a week after a newspaper alleged she had snorted cocaine, apologising to friends, family and business associates for her behavior. But her statement made no specific reference to a report in The Mirror tabloid featuring grainy pictures that apparently showed the 31-year-old taking large quantities of cocaine. Moss has previously denied taking hard drugs. "I take full responsibility for my actions," she said in a statement released by the Storm Model Management agency. "I also accept that there are various personal issues that I need to address and have started taking the difficult, yet necessary, steps to resolve them." The scandal has already prompted British retailer Burberry and Swedish-based fashion house Hennes and Mauritz to sever ties with one of the most famous faces in fashion, raising doubts over whether she can continue a successful modeling career. France's Chanel said it would not renew her contract when it expires next month, and on Thursday a spokeswoman for the Rimmel cosmetic brand said the company was "shocked" by the reports and that its deal with Moss was now "under review." Moss added: "I want to apologize to all of the people I have let down because of my behavior which has reflected badly on my family, friends, co-workers, business associates and others." Her lawyer, Gerrard Tyrrell, said his client had nothing to add to the brief statement at this stage. ANOTHER COMEBACK? Moss has courted controversy before. In 1998, she checked into London's Priory Clinic suffering from "exhaustion" and announced the following year that she had spent the previous decade modeling "drunk." Her on-again, off-again relationship with volatile British rocker Pete Doherty, a confessed drug addict, has also attracted tabloid attention in recent months. And in July she won substantial libel damages over claims by The Sunday Mirror that she collapsed in a cocaine-fuelled coma in Barcelona in 2001. The newspaper also apologised. British police said on Wednesday they would investigate the latest allegations of drug abuse, although any probe would require more evidence than newspaper photos before it could proceed. Opinion is divided over whether the scandal will end a career worth an estimated 4 million pounds a year. Public relations expert Max Clifford said her career was "rapidly disintegrating," while Lisa Armstrong, fashion editor at The Times, said a comeback could be on the cards. "British survivors of rock 'n' roll living have an uncanny knack of becoming national treasures," she wrote. Moss, who has a two-year-old daughter, was discovered by a modeling agency as a 14-year-old schoolgirl, and her waifish good looks have graced the covers of countless magazines.

Jon Bon Jovi: Tom Cruise Has "Lost It," He "Courts Celebrity For The Sake Of It"... Posted September 19, 2005 03:46 PM Jon Bon Jovi has slammed Tom Cruise, saying the actor has "lost it". The rocker claims the heartthrob star "courts celebrity for the sake of it" and he believes Tom's fiancée Katie Holmes is feeding off of his star status. The rocker told Britain's Daily Telegraph newspaper: "Some people just court celebrity for the sake of it. People like Tom Cruise. He was always a great actor, but I think the man's lost it. "You won't ever catch me jumping up and down on Oprah going on about how I love this woman. And then others start feeding off it. Suddenly Katie Holmes is on the cover of magazines" The handsome singer also hot out at hotel heiress Paris Hilton saying she is "famous for being infamous" He said: "Another one is Paris Hilton Famous for being infamous And then the people who should be getting the attention, people like Bob Dylan, aren't It's sad" "These people claim they hate the intrusion that fame brings but then they bring it on themselves by having huge entourages wherever they go, attracting attention to themselves"

    Sheryl Crow

http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/blogs/sfgate/indexd?blogid=7 Lance Armstrong's Fishing Lake Proposal AP / Tammie Arroyo Retired cycling hero Lance Armstrong proposed to rocker Sheryl Crow in Idaho while the couple were stranded on a lake. The sports star hadn't planned to ask his girlfriend to marry him when they set out on a boat trip, but the opportunity was too great to miss when the vessel ran out of gas. He recalls, "We were in Sun Valley, Idaho, which is a good place. We're on this lake and these people let us go out to their lake cabin and we took this boat out to the middle of the lake this is one of those little fishing boats with the motor behind. "It ran out of gas in the middle of the lake, so I thought, 'You know, we're stuck here, I may as well ask her now.' "I felt bad (because) I didn't have the ring with me but it was too perfect, too beautiful." Crow admits she was stunned by the proposal, but didn't hesitate to say yes. Speaking on yesterday's "Oprah" show, she revealed, "He definitely pulled out all the stops ... He was being really romantic." Crow insists she'd be foolish to turn down the chance to marry Armstrong: "There are too many things to name that I love about him -- he's gorgeous and he's funny and he's smart and he's a fantastic dad. Gosh, I just love him." The couple plan to wed next spring.

NY DAILY NEWS/RUSH AND MOLLOY... Are fashion and cosmetics companies starting to find waifish Kate Moss too heavy a lift? No sooner has Moss apologized to her modeling employers for using cocaine than fresh gusts of scandal are buffeting the mannequin. Over the weekend, sources claimed in Britain's News of the World that Moss had lesbian romps with actresses Sadie Frost and Davinia Taylor, as well as a three-way with Frost and her former husband Jude Law. Fashion p.a. Rebecca White was quoted as alleging that she'd seen Moss and pal Naomi Campbell blow their way through a "fist-sized" mound of cocaine in a single night. White also told the paper that Moss "asked for several hundred [british] pounds' worth of cocaine" before attending a 2002 benefit for Nelson Mandela Children's Fund. "She sneaked off to [take cocaine] all the way through the dinner, with Nelson Mandela at the next table," said White. "I couldn't believe how disrespectful that was." Christian Dior, Burberry and H. Stern have all sidestepped any definitive answer on whether Moss will stay with them. A rep for retailer H&M said Friday that it wouldn't dump Moss because she had apologized for her drug use and promised in writing to remain "healthy, wholesome and sound." But yesterday, H&M seemed to be distancing itself, with a rep saying: "We are having a dialogue with her. This is a very unfortunate situation." Meanwhile, London's Mirror reported that Moss has split with boyfriend Pete Doherty. The bleary-eyed rocker was seen a disco on the Spanish isle of Ibiza without Moss - instead kissing another man. Moss' rep would only say yesterday that "all these allegations are being dealt with by lawyers, and we will not be commenting at present." A rep for Campbell, who in the past has been open with the press about her cocaine use, declined to comment.

Mindy McCready Tried to Kill Herself Country singer Mindy McCready said she tried to kill herself this summer after she found out she was pregnant. McCready, 29, testified in a Williamson County court Monday that the pregnancy also was the reason she broke her probation on a drug conviction by going to Florida. The singer was in court to appeal the terms of a $50,000 bail agreement she made to stay out of jail on a probation violation charge. McCready said she went to Florida in July to be with family after a series of problems that included a drunken driving arrest in Nashville, a beating by her boyfriend and an arrest in Arizona on charges stemming from her involvement with a con man she said she was trying to help police catch. McCready was on three years' probation after pleading guilty last year to obtaining the painkiller OxyContin fraudulently at a pharmacy in Williamson County. She also was fined $4,000 and ordered to perform 200 hours of community service. Authorities said McCready left Tennessee without getting permission from her probation officer and did not report to the officer the entire month of July. It was her second probation violation. The crafty TV personality has signed up to appear in a new PETA video, in which she apologizes for being a one-time fur lover and now insists she'll never do it again. In the new video, Stewart says, "I used to wear real fur but, like many others, I had a change of heart when I learned what actually happens to the animals." Her five-minute fur-trade expose, filmed on the set of her new TV talk show, shows how animals are trapped, strangled, and electrocuted for their pelts. Stewart's feelings towards fur changed earlier this year, when she responded to a letter from PETA Vice President Dan Matthews while serving time in jail for lying about stock sales. Stewart insisted to Matthews that the fur she famously wore the day of her sentencing was fake, and credited her daughter Alexis, who is a vegetarian, with making her aware of animal issues. Stewart is also calling on fans to send fur-wearing family and friends a mission statement she has posted on her official Web site, which reads: "So much violence in the world seems beyond our control, but this is one cruelty we can stop by being informed consumers."

The ceremony coincided with the release of Depp's latest film, the animated Corpse Bride, by Tim Burton. Depp is currently filming Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest and Pirates of the Caribbean 3.

    Kate Moss

http://www.thisislondon.co.uk/showbiz/arti...source=Daily%... 19/09/05 - Showbiz section Kate hit by more revelations By Gordon Rayner, Daily Mail Leading fashion companies were under growing pressure to axe Kate Moss last night after further revelations about her cocaine addiction and debauched lifestyle. Friends described how the model had drug-fuelled lesbian sex with actresses Sadie Frost and Davinia Taylor, as well as three-in-a-bed sessions involving Miss Frost's ex-husband Jude Law. She is also alleged to have taken cocaine during a dinner for Nelson Mandela's children's charity, sneaking off from her table next to the former South African president. One former assistant said she had seen Miss Moss work her way through a ' fistsized' mound of cocaine with fellow model Naomi Campbell in a single night. Several of the 31-year-old's most lucrative advertising contracts could now be in jeopardy, with Chanel, Christian Dior, Rimmel and Burberry among those still deciding on her future. Other companies, including the H&M fashion chain and jewellers H Stern, had attracted criticism for coming out in support of the star, who earns £4million a year. H&M, which is using Miss Moss to promote its new Stella McCartney range, was reconsidering its position last night. 'We are having a dialogue with her,' a spokesman said. 'This is a very unfortunate situation.' Anti-drugs campaigners have urged the brands to dump Miss Moss. David Raynes, of the National Drug Prevention Alliance, said: 'The public will find it very hard to understand why responsible companies who are conscious of their public image carry on supporting Kate Moss despite everything that has emerged this week when she is a role model for young girls.' Miss Moss's depraved sex life was detailed in the News of the World, which claimed her lesbian affairs with Miss Frost, 41, and Hollyoaks star Miss Taylor, 27, began at least three years ago. On one occasion the three women had sex in a suite in Claridge's hotel after Miss Moss had taken cocaine at a party. A friend of the model told the newspaper: 'It wasn't a one-off. Kate had been to bed with Sadie before and she also slept with Davinia half a dozen times after that. 'There was another occasion when they had a threesome together at Kate's house in London. 'Davinia got married to Dave Gardner (the sports agent who is friendly with David Beckham) in 2003 and she cooled things with Kate after that. But six months ago Kate went to Davinia's home in London and dared her to kiss her while her husband was away. 'They had a drunken kiss but Davinia wouldn't go any further than that because she wouldn't cheat on her husband.' Miss Frost's relationship with Miss Moss was said to have caused friction in her marriage to Mr Law, which ended in divorce earlier this year. Incredibly, Miss Moss placated Law by inviting him to join them in bed. A source said: 'Jude started to hate it when his wife was alone with Kate. He hated the whole thing and they rowed about it a lot. So they had threesomes - Jude, Kate and Sadie - because he didn't like it when he wasn't involved.' Miss Frost's ill-fated relationship with flamenco dancer Jackson Scott is also said to have suffered. He knew the two women were sleeping together when they were all on holiday in Ibiza earlier this year. The newspaper revealed that Miss Moss sneaked off to snort cocaine during a dinner for the Nelson Mandela Children's Fund in Barcelona in 2002. Rebecca White, a personal assistant to Miss Campbell at the time, said: 'Even before the dinner started, Kate had asked for several hundred pounds worth of cocaine. 'She sneaked off to (take cocaine) all the way through the dinner with Nelson Mandela at the next table. I couldn't believe how disrespectful that was. 'It was meant to be a charity dinner but as far as Kate was concerned it was just another excuse for a drugs-fuelled party.' Miss Moss is nicknamed The Conjurer by her friends, it is claimed, because of her dexterity in taking cocaine. She is also said to take ecstasy and Valium. Miss White added: 'The amount of cocaine she consumed was ridiculous. I would find (Miss Moss and Miss Campbell) together with literally a pile of cocaine as big as a fist on the table. 'And they always wanted to do it all until it was gone. Kate, especially, would never leave anything on the table.' Another source claimed that Miss Moss's boyfriend, Babyshambles singer Pete Doherty, had taken drugs in front of her two-year-old daughter Lila Grace. 'Pete has frequently smoked marijuana and snorted cocaine in front of her and the couple have had heated rows about it,' the source added. According to reports last night, the disagreements had become so serious that Miss Moss has decided to end her relationship with Doherty.
