  1. Johnny Depp sues to guard view from Hollywood Hills estateAssociated PressWEST HOLLYWOOD, Calif. - "Pirates of the Caribbean" star Johnny Depp has crossed swords with city officials over a proposed Sunset Strip commercial development Depp says would block the scenic view from part of his Hollywood Hills estate. The actor contends in a lawsuit that the city of West Hollywood violated environmental quality laws by approving development of retail shops, a restaurant and a parking structure on a lot beneath his gated, 2 1/2 -acre property.Depp also argues that the project would block the view his two children have while playing on a terrace outside the 7,430-square-foot home. The development would rise about 45 feet above the famous Sunset Strip. Its roof would be about 40 feet below Depp's home, but the building would still block views from a portion of the backyard terrace, which is down the hill from the house. Those behind the development argue that Depp has declared that the youngsters - Lily-Rose, 6, and Jack, 4 - will be raised in France, where he and French actress and singer Vanessa Paradis also have a home.Developer Joseph Emrani of Venice Investments, who is a partner in the project with his brother, Youdi Emrani, said he challenged Depp's representatives."They said, 'The kids are playing over there and they don't want it to block their view.' I mentioned that his children live in Paris, and one of them said, 'That's very personal and we don't want to get involved with that,' " Joseph Emrani said.Depp's attorney declined to discuss the case.A Los Angeles County Superior Court judge ruled against Depp last year. The case is being appealed on his behalf by his sister, Christi Dembrowski, who is also Depp's personal assistant and president of his film production company.

    Pink: 'I took heroin'

    24/03/2006 - 07:16:48

Pop punk Pink took heroin when she was a teenager, but she turned her back

on the opiate aged just 16 as she focused on succeeding as a singer.

The Just Like A Pill hitmaker has witnessed the devastation the narcotic can

cause with her own eyes - three of her close friends have died after

    overdosing.

She says: "Heroin is a horrible thing. I've seen first hand what it can do

to people and it's not pretty. I was never that much into it to need

    treatment.

"But you name it, I took it. I buried three friends from heroin overdoses. I

just stopped one day on Thanksgiving 1995 and never touched them again."

And the 26-year-old insists she only dabbled in drugs to alleviate the

boredom of her early adolescence in Pennsylvania.

She continues: "For me drugs were just a distraction on the way to my

ultimate goal, which is what I'm doing today. I found my chance and I wanted

to go for it and knew I was going to have to work for it.

"Boredom is a big cause of a lot of problems for a lot of people. I was

performing so I wasn't bored any more. I had something to do."

  4. Another one kind of like Princess's post but this one says Culkins dad is living in poverty.

    http://www.dailyindia.com/show/10912.php/C...living_in_pov...

London, March 23 (IANS) Actor Macaulay Culkin's estranged father Kit is

living in poverty and has no hope of seeing his children again.

According to contactmusic.com, Kit's long time partner Jeanette Krylowski

says the publication of Culkin's book 'Junior' has opened old wounds for

Kit. Kit has stayed away from his son over a decade after he lost a

custody battle with his former wife Patricia Brentrup.

Krylowski says: 'Kit is not well, lives quite poorly and does not believe

he will ever see any of his seven kids again. Kit walked away to stop the

hate, even giving up his residual earnings.

'Kit never had a bad thing to say about his family and it would be

wonderful if such dignity was shown by them.'

  5. Beastie Boys: Dolly was robbed at Oscars By Todd MartensAUSTIN, Texas (Billboard) - Mike D professed his love for the Prince film "Purple Rain," fellow Beastie Boy MCA talked about drinking with hip-hop impresario Russell Simmons and Ad Rock dished on his favorite books during the rap trio's spirited hour-long discussion with fans at the South by Southwest music festival in Austin, Texas.Little news came out of Wednesday's Q&A session, with fans asking the trio to talk about their early inspirations or discuss their views on rap combo Three 6 Mafia winning an Oscar for their "Hustle & Flow" tune."Nothing against them," Ad Rock said, "but we think Dolly Parton (nominated for a tune from "Transamerica") was robbed."The Beastie Boys were in Austin to promote their film, "Awesome: I F*ckin' Shot That!," which was assembled from footage shot by fans during a 2004 concert at New York's Madison Square Garden. For the sequel, Mike D joked, the act will let its fans keep the cameras for a week.Fans largely kept the questions light, and the Beastie Boys were more than happy to oblige. When one fan pressed MCA on his belief in Buddhism, the rapper opted not to reveal much to the crowd, which had earlier given the Beastie Boys a standing ovation. Yet the fan persisted, and asked if he was ashamed of the some of the lyrics in early Beastie Boys songs. "That stuff is a goof," MCA said. "I think most people know it's a goof."On the subject of politically charged material, one fan asked the Beastie Boys if there was an issue about which the group would like to educate listeners. "I don't know if we were ever out trying to educate people," Ad Rock said. "If we say something in a song, it's because we're thinking about it."Later on, Ad Rock recommended fans read "Fuzz One: A Bronx Childhood," an autobiography from graffiti artist Vincent Fedorchak. When the session turned toward the topic of Brooklyn, one fan asked if the trio was still in touch with the neighborhood, and if they believed they was still "keeping it real""They're not keeping it real in Brooklyn anymore," Ad Rock quipped. Added Mike D, "I know more about the playground than the underground right now."Reuters/Billboard

  6. Actress MELANIE GRIFFITH has slammed US supermarket tabloid National Enquirer for publishing photographs of her attending Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) meetings. The WORKING GIRL star has made no secret of her past battle with drink and drugs, but is disgusted by the Enquirer's latest front page story, which quotes the actress as saying, "It's true - I did have a drug relapse. I would go to the ends of the earth to buy cocaine and my drugs." Griffith's publicist ROBIN BAUM tells the New York Daily News, "Every single day that she goes to an AA meeting, there are paparazzi outside. "(It is) violating her privacy. "They chase her for the remainder of the day. They put her in danger."

  7. Woman to Wed 'Boys Don't Cry' Inmate Sat Mar 18, 3:40 PM ET A Chicago woman has been granted a marriage license to marry one of the killers portrayed in the movie "Boys Don't Cry."Justine Mirth, 32, says she can't wait to marry Tom Nissen, who is serving life in prison for the 1993 slayings of three people in a farmhouse in southeast Nebraska."I'm dying to go see him. I want to hold him," she said. "He's the man I love. I want to spend the rest of my life with him."The crime inspired the award-winning 1999 movie starring Hilary Swank, who played one of the victims, 21-year-old Teena Brandon, who was born a woman but lived as a man in southeast Nebraska under the name Brandon Teena. The couple have never met in person. Mirth and Nissen have learned about each other through long letters and scores of 15-minute phone calls — the maximum allowed by the prison. When she saw the film, Mirth said, she identified with the characters who played Nissen and his co-defendant, John Lotter, who is on death row. She had grown up "in a small, stupid town in Indiana," she said, and escaped by running with a rough crowd."These were people I would hang out with in real life," she said.Prosecutors said Teena was killed in a farmhouse, along with two witnesses, because he reported being raped by Lotter and another man after they discovered his biological identity.

  8. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------Spielberg Production Sued Over HaircutFri Mar 17, 7:26 PM ETA Mescalero Apache family in southern New Mexico has sued the producers of Steven Spielberg's television miniseries, "Into the West," claiming a set stylist cut an 8-year-old girl's hair without regard for tribal customs. "It's part of our culture not to cut a girl's hair until her Coming of Age ceremony," the girl's father, Danny Ponce, said Friday in a telephone interview. "The only ones allowed to do that are the parents. Nobody asked for permission." Ponce filed suit in U.S. District Court in Albuquerque on March 6, naming Turner Films Inc. and the unknown stylist as defendants. The lawsuit seeks $250,000 for emotional distress and $75,000 in damages. A Turner Films spokeswoman said the company doesn't comment on pending litigation. The lawsuit says Ponce's daughter, Christina, responded through her parents last March to an open casting call for work on the TNT network miniseries, "Into the West," for a three-day shoot near Carrizozo, N.M. The stylist cut the girl's hair, the lawsuit claims, "to make her look more 'Indian' and like a male Indian child because the movie casting call failed to produce sufficient young male extras of Indian heritage." The Mescalero tradition forbids cutting a girl's hair as she approaches puberty. To prepare for womanhood, Mescalero girls participate in a sacred Coming of Age ceremony that requires their hair to reach the waist. Before it was cut, Ponce said his daughter's hair fell midway down her back. It has since grown to her collar. "This has to do with the culture of a tribal member," he said. "It was cut very short above her ears. She looked like a boy." Gov. Bill Richardson in recent years has increased state efforts to attract the film industry to New Mexico. While Ponce welcomes those initiatives, he suggested filmmakers from outside the state should try to be more culturally sensitive. "Just because you're wealthy, you don't do something without checking first," Ponce said.

Hell yeah she is in her 40s. Im convinced after that pic. The only thing that ever threw me about her age is that her parents didnt look too old at her wedding to have someone her age, at least her mom didnt. I cant really remember her dad.

Im 33 and I have no wrinkles of any kind and Im told all the time I look 20's. Yeah.... but I work with many gals around my age or older and they dont look as bad in the eye area as Catherine.

It seems that Steven Tyler is feeling less than F.I.N.E fine.

The Aerosmith frontman has reportedly come down with an unspecified

illness that has forced the veteran rockers to cancel a string of

    recent tour dates.

No details of Tyler's ailment have been made public and no notice of

the cancellations has appeared on the band's official Website. Though

published reports have identified Tyler as the ailing band member, the

band's spokesperson stopped short of a confirmation.

"I know there?s illness in the camp," Shazila Mohammed, tour press

director, said in a statement. "Beyond that, I can?t say."

On Saturday, the aging Rock and Roll Hall of Famers bowed out of an

appearance in Pensacola, Florida just hours before they were scheduled

to take the stage at the Pensacola Civic Center.

"The show was here, there were 18 trucks and 13 buses and everything

was ready to go," civic center spokesperson Cyndee Pennington told the

Pensacola News Journal. "But Aerosmith wasn't even in town. But their

tour manager was in the venue and he told us."

On Tuesday, the band pulled a similar stunt before an appearance in

Lexington, Kentucky, canceling an appearance at Rupp Arena just 15

minutes before they were due to touch down at the local airport.

"We had an 11 a.m. phone call telling us he [Tyler] was fine," arena

spokesman Carl Hall, director of arena management at Rupp, told the

Lexington Herald-Leader. "Everybody breathed a sign of relief. Then the

sigh became a gasp. The band was flying here, they were in the air,

when whatever was going wrong with Steve Tyler messed up again."

Without giving further explanation for the no-show, the band reportedly

turned its plane around and returned to their hometown of Boston.

But even after returning to familiar stomping grounds, Aerosmith was

not prepared to perform their concert in Manchester, New Hampshire, on

Thursday. On Friday, came word that the band was also canceling a

    Sunday appearance in Hershey, Pennsylvania.

There were no plans to reschedule any of the shows, though refunds for

the tickets were available at point of purchase.

Aerosmith is next slated to appear Wednesday in Wilkes-Barre,

Pennsylvania. The current tour is scheduled to wrap up April 9 in

    Vancouver.

Per Billboard, Aerosmith is the number three tour in the country,

    behind U2 and Bon Jovi.

  11. I had a friend in high school. This disease seemed to hit everyone in her family. Like 7 of her relatives, aunts and cousins, had it. She lost her aunt to it at age 23!!!! That is so damn young. I know an attorney who just lost his wife to it. Probably mid-30s but they had 3 little kids. So sad. I hope they find a cure for it and diabetes which is another one I hope they cure. My brother has had it since 4 and he is almost 30.

  12. Kimora Lee's em-Phat-ic: She and Russell are in love Don't call Kimora Lee Simmons' marriage to Russell Simmons one of convenience. She'll be the first to tell you it's anything but. 'I am inconvenienced, s—!' she says. Kimora Lee Simmons is hosing down talk that her blissful marriage to hip-hop mogul Russell Simmons is a sham.Ever since they wed in 1998, the power couple has battled gossip that their union was one of "convenience" - that business, more than passion, held them together, and that their interests, shall we say, lay elsewhere.Kimora argues: "One thing my marriage is not is convenient. I am inconvenienced, s-! "Honey, Russell and I have been together 14 years," she adds. "That's almost half my life."The bodacious model and fashion czarina admits she and Def Jam founder have had their rough patches."The things we go through are very regular things that regular people in Middle America go through," she tells Margeaux Watson in Vibe Vixen magazine. Folks in Kenosha, Wis., may not have exactly the same issues. Take that time Russell slapped her picture on a Phat Farm T-shirt without her permission. "He didn't pay me, which is totally illegal," she points out. "That's like putting a print of Beyoncé on my shirt - she would sue the s- out of me! But I never did sue him. See, that's one of the things about being married. "I think he probably feels that he's paid me in so many other ways, and I feel like that's true," she said.Kimora's rep yesterday denied the couple was headed for divorce, even though career demands often keep them apart.A friend of the couple admitted that, even though Kimora is often seen with an entourage of girlfriends, "in private, she and Russell are very much in love."She clearly enjoys the bounty their union has brought her. "I don't apologize for my diamonds, Rolls-Royce, Range Rover or anything," she says. "Look, Queen Elizabeth has more diamonds than me. Why don't people attack her for it? And she even sounds flattered that Russell slapped her image on "a line of underwear - all over the boys' d-s ... I've been all over their a-; they just sittin' all over me."

  13. Things are not well in the marriage (of convenience) of Star Jones and Al Reynolds, as the two demonstrated Thursday night over dinner at Ago in West Hollywood. The View co-host is in town on her book tour and decided to hit the trendy restaurant for dinner with her husband and several pals, including Natalie Cole, one of our moles at Ago tells us."From the moment they walked in, it was a scene," says our tipster. "Star had Al wipe of her chair in the bar - where they waited for everyone in their party to arrive before they could be seated. It was incredible. Who has someone wipe a perfectly clean chair before sitting down?"Star Jones does, bitches! Then, almost instantly, Big Gay Al began downing drinks. His beverage of choice? French martinis, which are our favorite too! They make us feel butch."Star looked like a drag queen," says our Ago ally. "She was dressed in all-white, had pancake makeup on, false eyelashes, and she even had the nerve to wear a white fur wrap."PETA should protest outside her book signing!"Star was not in a good mood," says our tipster. "Al was ignoring her all night long. He just kept having French martinis and texting on his Sidekick. Then, in a hurry, Star left the restaurant - before the food was even served - and left Al behind with Natalie and their other friends."After Ago, we wouldn't be surprised if BGA made an appearance at the Slammer or the Power Zone or one of LA's other fine "saunas."As for Star, we may have to pay her a visit at one of her two book signings this weekend!perezhilton.com

  14. STAR & AL IN BUST-UP Nat'l Enquirer By ALEXANDER HITCHEN Star Jones and hubby Al Reynolds had an angry screaming match triggered by rumors that he is gay. Insiders also say the bust-up has led to fears that The View host's 15-month-old marriage is in crisis. And Star fueled speculation that divorce is in the cards when she went on TV with her wedding ring on the wrong hand! An insider said: "Star and Al had a loud fight that is causing the latest problems in their troubled marriage. "I think at the root of it all is the fact she wonders whether Al really loves her. Gay rumors have followed their marriage from the beginning. It's probably caused her to question what's really going on. He seems to be hanging with his friends at odd hours." The National Enquirer revealed in November how rumors over 47-year-old banker Al's sexuality had hurt the relationship. The insider said: "Al goes away for days. Star says he's working out of town. But she knows he's working less. He's living like a king." Star, 43, appeared on TV on February 8 with a Band-Aid where her wedding ring usually is. At a booksigning session in White Plains, N.Y. later that day, she said: "I got 1,000 messages asking me if something was wrong and I said no. I told them not to worry. It's a nice thing that people are that loving - I appreciate it." Star said she had moved her ring because of an infection on her wedding finger. But she hinted her marriage was not completely hunky-dory, when she went on: "It's not all hearts and flowers and running toward each other in slow motion."

  15. I think Teri would look a hell of a lot better with some meat on her bones. She just doesnt look good at that age that skinny. I think some of the gals up in that age bracket getting that skinny ages them. My aunt was an always kind of on the chunky side and she went on Adkins or something and got so skinny and it looks like it also aged her 10 years.

  16. Swanni Names Teri Hatcher as the 'Worst Looking' Celebrity in HDTV

    29/09/2005 - 18:06:43

For the Second Straight Year, the High-Definition TV Guru Reveals Which Stars Look Better or Worse in Crystal-Clear High-Def. Jessica Alba Is Named the Best-Looking Celebrity in HDTV

PRESS RELEASE via MARKET WIRE – The High-Definition TV picture is so clear that aging signs and skin imperfections are dramatically visible, no matter how much make-up is applied. Phillip Swann, a.k.a, 'Swanni,' the president of TVPredictions.com, generated international media attention for his 2004 list of the 10 celebrities who look better -- and worse -- in high-def. His selections have been featured in hundreds of publications such as The New York Times Magazine, The New York Post and on CNN and Fox News.

Now, Swanni has named his 2005 'Best and Worst' in HDTV.

Who's number one on the 'Worst' list?

    Desperate Housewives' Teri Hatcher!

Swanni says: "In high-def, the 'Desperate Housewives' star looks really desperate. Hatcher's forehead is covered with bulging veins, making it look like a page from a AAA Road Map. And Hatcher is so skinny that she makes Calista Flockhart look like Queen Latifah."

Swanni names Demi Moore as the second worst-looking celeb in high-def.

"She has those tell-tale wrinkles around her lips, suggesting she's a chain-smoker. Moore used to be in the Brat Pack, but her face looks like it's been buried in a cigarette pack," Swanni says.

Completing the 10 'HDTV Horribles' list are: 3. Donald Trump; 4. Heather Locklear; 5. David Letterman; 6. President George W. Bush; 7. Ray Liotta; 8. Sandra Bullock; 9. Former President Bill Clinton; 10. Clint Eastwood.

Swanni says that in high-def, Trump's face "looks more puffed up than one of his hotel's quarterly reports."

Swanni selected "Sin City's" Jessica Alba as the best-looking celebrity in HDTV with "Desperate's" Eva Longoria number two. Rounded out the 'HDTV Honeys' list are: 3. Anna Kournikova; 4. Ben Affleck; 5. Ashton Kutcher; 6. Marcia Cross; 7. Halle Berry; 8. Jessica Simpson; 9. Nicole Kidman; 10. Angelina Jolie.

"It's appropriate that Ms. Alba starred in 'Sin City' because she looks so good in high-def that it should be a sin," Swanni says.
