Has the fashion world turned on Pete Doherty? Ever since Kate Moss

dumped her enabling wastrel in the wake of her cocaine scandal,

Britain's greatest living junkie poet has seen a sharp drop in his

indie stock. In the latest blow to his style icon status, we hear Dior

designer Hedi Slimane has decided to shelve a book of photos he made

with the former Libertines singer.

 

 

The $30 high-gloss paperback, called London Birth of a Cult and

published by art house imprint Steidl, hit U.S. bookstores this month

in a miniscule advance run of 750 copies-a sampling of what was

intended to be a much larger printing, we're told. The book features

photos Slimane took of his coke-smoking muse over the course of a year

while using him as the inspiration for his latest Dior Homme

collection.

 

 

"Doherty's life has epitomized the trajectory of a true rock 'n

roll legend," the book's promo material reads. "A feeding frenzy

of press coverage was precipitated by his dating Kate Moss, charges of

robbery, blackmail, and carrying a knife, jail time, rehab, and

admissions that he had been a prostitute and drug dealer. All of this

overwhelms the most interesting aspect of the 26-year-old musician's

life-in a business dominated by manufactured mediocre talents, he is

a true original, a charismatic frontman, songwriter, and performer."

 

 

Unfortunately, such gushing praise seems less and less apt each day.

Doherty's messy split with Moss, empty promises to enter rehab, and

the resounding thud of his debut album with new band Babyshambles-the

London Observer called it "disappointing" and

"incoherent"-have combined to make his formerly Rimbaud-esque

antics seem just plain sad.

 

 

Despite the questionable economics of publishing and distributing only

750 copies of a $30 paperback, a Steidl spokeswoman maintains that the

book was never meant to be printed in a larger quantity. "Hedi

doesn't want it to be reprinted," she said. "He wants it to be of

the moment. If you can get one now, you're lucky." Another rep for

the publishing house added that "the fact that the edition is small

does not have anything to do with any personal events or sensationalism

surrounding Pete Doherty." Publicists for Doherty and Slimane could

not be reached for comment by press time.

Christina Aguilera has found out what a girl wants, and now she's married

him.

 

 

The 24-year-old pop singer tied the knot with music executive Jordan Bratman

in a Saturday evening ceremony at Staglin Family Vineyard in northern

California's Napa Valley, Us Weekly reported on its web site.

 

 

Sources told the magazine that Aguilera, her hair decorated in jewels and

pulled back in a bun topped by white flowers, walked down the aisle in a

Christian Lacroix gown. The couple exchanged rings in front of about 130

guests.

 

 

Aguilera and Bratman arrived in Napa Valley on Wednesday to kick off wedding

festivities, with a Japanese-themed rehearsal dinner Friday night at the

Auberge Du Soleil resort, Us Weekly reported.

 

 

Bratman, 28, proposed to Aguilera in February while on vacation in Carmel,

Calif. Their hotel room was filled with rose petals, balloons and gift

boxes.

 

 

"When I got to the last box, there was a ring in it," Aguilera told People

November 12, 2005 -- Donald Trump is back for two more seasons of "The

Apprentice" but Martha Stewart's gotten the word on her show: "You're

fired!"

 

 

The reality show shuffle is one of the latest makeover changes at NBC

as it struggles to climb back up the ratings ladder.

 

 

The Peacock Network suffered an embarrassing 20 percent slide in

viewers in the newest ratings showdown — the first week of the

all-important "sweeps" in November.

 

 

The month-long sweeps — done four times a year — determine how much

money a network can collect for airing commercials on its national

programming.

 

 

Although NBC nudged higher into second place in Tuesday evening

ratings, aided by its "Law and Order: SVU" hit, it didn't fare that

well for the whole week, according to Nielsen Media Research data.

 

 

Trump's popular "The Apprentice" has given NBC an edge during its

primetime period, and is being renewed for two more seasons, said

industry sources.

 

 

Martha Stewart's copy-cat version, "The Apprentice: Martha Stewart,"

won't make it past Christmas, however.

 

 

The network said her final show will run Dec. 21, following the

conclusion of 13 episodes that began in September. Ratings have been

disappointing, data show.

 

 

Younger viewers are defecting from NBC in greater numbers. In just one

season, the average age of NBC's viewers rose to 50 from 47, too old

for advertisers who prefer to pitch their wares only to viewers 18 to

45.

 

 

Advertisers believe that younger viewers can be more easily influenced

or manipulated by commercials than older audiences already fixed in

their ways.

 

 

Nielsen said NBC managed to capture just 3.3 percent of younger

viewers 18 to 49, down significantly from 4.1 percent of the young

eyeballs a year earlier.

 

 

The slump could mean another black eye for NBC's programming boss,

Jeff Zucker.

 

 

Zucker was hoping new shows such as "My Name is Earl" and "E-Ring"

would bring back its vanishing audiences.

 

 

"NBC is in a rebuilding phase and we are encouraged by our progress

nurturing shows that can be keys to our future success," such as the

comedies "Earl" and "The Office," NBC said in a statement.

 

 

Top-ranked ABC is holding onto its lead — and boosted viewers by

another 10 percent in sweeps with shows such as "Desperate Housewives"

and "Lost."

 

 

Among younger viewers, ABC got 4.5 percent of them to watch ABC shows,

said Nielsen.

 

 

"Desperate Housewives" was the most-watched program among young

viewers for the week with a rating of 11.1. The network's average

viewer was 45.9 years old, up from 44.9 years a year earlier, said ad

firm Horizon.

 

 

CBS trailed in second place among younger viewers with a 4.4 percent

of them, while Fox came in fourth with 3.0 percent. Fox is owned by

News Corp., which also owns The Post.

lifestyle prior to the birth of his daughter LILY six years ago (99).

 

 

The 42-year-old says, "There came a point where I'd just had enough. I think

it was the point in my life when I was about to become a father.

"Then my first child arrived and you have a slew of realisations. They

attack you. I had that moment where I thought, 'Oh, now I get it. Now I

understand what it's all about.'

 

 

"I realised I'd wasted a lot of years being a dumb-ass. But at the same time

it's what I went through and made me who I am."

Depp is living with French singer/actress VANESSA PARADIS. They have two

children, LILY and JACK.

 

 

The star has also urged his former lover KATE MOSS to win her battle with

Speaking of Oprah, the entrepreneur used her talk show to reunite writer Terry McMillan (How Stella Got Her Groove Back) with her ex-husband, Jonathan Plummer. The two divorced earlier this year with a public firestorm over Plummer’s revelation that he is gay. McMillan liberally used the word “fag” and accused the Jamaican Plummer of marrying her to get his green card. Plummer sued her for buckets of money. Things weren’t exactly amicable on Oprah’s show, but at least the pair didn’t kill each other. “I always thought Jonathan was not the most masculine man that I had been with,” McMillan told Winfrey before Plummer took the stage. Collins considers Genesis reunion

Phil Collins is keen to reunite his former band Genesis and he wants to

return to the original line-up - which would see singer Peter Gabriel

fronting the group.

 

 

The I Can't Dance hitmakers split in 1998, but original frontman Gabriel

relinquished the lead position to Collins when he left to pursue a solo

career in 1975.

 

 

And now Collins confirms a revival could be on the cards.

 

 

He says: "I'm open for it. I'm happy to sit behind the drums and let Peter

(Gabriel) be the singer. If (a reunion) happens, I'll be there. If it

doesn't happen it would just be because there are too many things in the

way."

The eccentric Blue Orchid singer wandered on stage in London this weekend, a

stuffed bird under one arm, and amazed fans by declaring his change of

identity.

 

 

A fan says: "The Three Quid stuff was a bit weird, but if he keeps playing

that well I don't care what he calls himself."
