Agreed. That was a big, "Wow!"

I passed the word wow and just went to WTF.

Two hundred and forty five years later and some Brits are still upset about a "ragtag volunteer army in need of a shower somehow defeated a global superpower."

  2. Still here and still working from home.  Will be doing so until June.  Our state is planning more this week.  So far everyone healthy.

I am suppose to be going to Prague in August. In February when this all started I was not worried about it being cancelled now in May I am.  A trip with my siblings.

Thanks all. Testing for Covid is happening but due to underlying conditions, a Do Not Resuscitate decision is unfortunately likely.

but apologies -  I did not mean to derail the thread. :)

Prayers for peace, strength, and calm during this time for you.

  4. I live in SW  Ohio. My state is pretty much shut down and has been for two - three weeks.    I will be working from home until the end of April.  My Tony is essential as a maintenance supervisor.  But if he doesn't have to go to a property he is in his office here.  The Spring break Corona kid from Florida is from the next town over. Most people are listening to the rewueuests and i hope Ohio levels the curve soon.  I have to admit I am impressed with our Governor and his staff.  Never thought I would ever say that.  So far we have the following events here:

    Wine with DeWine

    Snacking with Acton

    Beers with Beshear

    Fun times

    I voted too.

    Okay.... care to share? :)

I voted for Julia & Danny. I've heard that they've more or less lived separate lives (different houses, only deal with each other about their children, etc) for years. The liquidation of some of her real estate, recently, makes me think they want to move from separated to fully-dividing assets... in other words, divorce.

Voted for Cate and Andrew. I do not have a reason except a feeling when looking over the list. I have not read about them for a while.

Hoya, did you have a second one after they "returned"? I'm wondering what one would do in that situation.

I've told my husband since we started dating that if, heaven forbid, I ever get breast cancer - I'm having a double mastectomy and living out the rest of my days in skinny strap dresses :alien_dance:

When I had my mastectomy that is almost what I told my husband and my doctor. My doctor did not want to do a double and I told him there was not enough cotton in the world to make them even. Plus I told him I did not want to walk around leaning over to the right all the time ( cancer was in my left). It helps to have a dark sense of humor when dealing with it. :D

  7. I think if this theory is true, it's more about the fact that Bobby Brown gets a second chance of raising his Houston baby the right way out of the press, away from Hollywood pressure, etc.

Bobby Brown is a dick head. He doesn't deserve a second chance at raising a child. You don't get second chances when you have children. He and Whitney blew it.

  8. Stupid stupid mom. She has not had any episodes lately because she had been on her medication. Dumbass. I had such hopes for the young girl. I thought her parents stepped in and were doing the right thing. Now I read this. Bring the Mom up on charges for endangerment.

  9. TMZ is reporting James Gandolfini just died of a heart attack. He was 51.

I rarely tell stories about my personal relationships with celebrities. Today I’m going to make an exception.

My friend died yesterday at the very young age of 51. He will be remembered by most as a great actor or a loving husband or a devoted father. To me, he will just be remembered as a good friend. I will miss him.

    Wonderful tribute.

  10. This has not happened -- yet

Veteran television actress Valerie Harper has been diagnosed with terminal brain cancer.

The "Mary Tyler Moore Show" star, 73, who played Rhoda Morgenstern in the hit series and its spin-off "Rhoda," underwent a series of tests which showed she has leptomeningeal carcinomatosis, a condition that occurs when cancer cells spread into the fluid-filled membrane surrounding the brain.

Harper received the devastating news in January and has been told by doctors she has as little as three months to live.

Opening up about the diagnosis to People magazine, Harper says, "I don't think of dying. I think of being here now."

Harper previously battled lung cancer in 2009.

Click through to see more photos of the actress, from her days on the "Mary Tyler Moore Show" to her tireless campaign for women's rights and more ...

I always thought Valarie Harper was the coolest thing about the MTM show.

I thought Mary's studio apartment was the coolest thing.

  11. I didn't catch race at all when reading the books, for what it's worth. Considering it's suppose to be post apocalyptic, in my head everyone is a brown (because so few people left, breeding caused us all to be the same color) :D

That would be a good thing.

  12. Voted for Lance. I can not stand that man. And my personal opinion (and it's my opinion, I don't care if you agree or not) is that his cancer never metastasized to his brain, lungs, or liver. Not saying he did not have testesicular. As a survivor I have seen and known too too many people that once the cancer enters your brain and liver from another area there is no stopping it. Too many of my friends have died. And while I am greatful that money has gone to cancer reserach thanks to the Livestrong foundation I think the whole was a set up to make him a more likeable person.
